The Suns ended up blowing out the Mavs in this one, 110-80, but the lopsided game did not end without incident.</p><p>Suns big man Bismack Biyombo went for a dunk with just seconds remaining in the game and Mavs center Marquese Chriss did not appreciate it. The pair ended up having a heated discussion on the floor which resulted in both players getting ejected.</p><p>The scene escalated when Chriss appeared to have chased Biyombo down the tunnel as both men exited the paying court. After never quite living up to his athletic potential in Phoenix or Cleveland, he found some success in Golden State as an athletic rim-runner. Sadly, Chriss suffered a traumatic stress fracture in his right leg earlier this year and has missed the rest of the season since. If Chriss can return before the end of the year, he will likely fill in as a backup center for the Spurs.</p><p>The Warriors are a team likely to be active on the buy-out market and clearing this roster spot allows them to do that without spending extra money to cut a player. Names to watch on the buyout market will be LaMarcus Aldridge and Andre Drummond, all of which could be useful to the Warriors.</p><p>The Warriors have had issues at the center position this year, especially since Chriss went down with the broken leg, and the buyout market makes more sense to fill that position than any trade.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/san-antonio-spurs/roster">The Spurs</a> likely only did this to fill the spot that eventually will be left by Aldridge after a buyout. Chriss could provide value if he returns to full health this season, but even if he doesn’t, the Spurs would possess his bird rights, and thus he could be resigned without using cap space. The 23-year-old big man, who’s recovering from a broken leg, was one of many who were dumbfounded when his teammate Draymond Green was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-draymond-green-gets-ejected-for-yelling-at-own-teammate-james-wiseman-vs-knicks/">ejected in the opening half</a> of their game against the New York Knicks on Thursday.</p><p>Green was called for his second technical foul after he was heard screaming at his teammate James Wiseman. The officials thought the forward was jawing at an opponent and decided to T him up, resulting to an early end to his evening.</p><p>Chriss, for obvious reasons, didn’t like the call. The former Defensive Player of the Year has made a name for himself as one of the loudest characters on the court which usually gets in the nerve of the officials. Though he was clearly yapping at the young Wiseman, the referees mistakenly thought he was trash-talking once again, which earned him his first ejection of the season.</p><p>It’s hard to argue against Marquese Chriss, who hasn’t played since December 26. It was a clear blunder by the officials. The call, however, stood and Green was disqualified from the game after playing for only 17 minutes. He finished with three points and eight assists.</p><p>With Draymond Green sent packing, the Warriors lost their defensive anchor and got handily beaten by the visiting Knicks, 119-104, <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/golden-state/schedule">preventing them from nailing a third consecutive win</a>.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The teenager in question, Tobias Eagle, allegedly ran through a traffic light which resulted in him being pulled over by the police officer.</p><p>Marquese Chriss echoed the statements of both Atty. Crump as well as Mrs. Harvey-Slocum challenging the police officer’s intentions on taking her time and why she created a rather avoidable situation. Instead of easily issuing the traffic violation ticket and going about her duty, the officer in question held on to the suspect’s documentation as she refused to give him the ticket and even called for backup. And this, per the NBA star seemed to create more conflict rather than simply diffusing or de-escalating the situation. Chriss was in visible pain after jamming his finger and had to leave the court shortly after.</p><p>Four years later, Chriss found himself looking up to Green now that they wear the same uniform. In an appearance on the Runnin’ Plays Podcast on Sunday, the 6-foot-9 slotman opened up about his initial reaction upon being teammates with Green.</p><blockquote>“It was surreal for me because, honestly. I didn’t know whether he liked me or not,” Chriss admitted.“He went up for a three and he was trying to draw a foul, and I backed up,” Chriss added. “And he tried to shoot it in his leg swung up and I put my hands behind my back and tried to move my hands out of the way, and his foot caught my pinkie, and it just dislocated my pinkie to the side.”</blockquote><p>Chriss joins the likes of James Harden and Steven Adams, who have all been kicked by Green at one point in-game. He has since let bygones be bygones, but Chriss revealed that his mom is still not too fond of the controversial forward.</p><blockquote>“My mom was mad,” Chriss said. “My mom holds a grudge… She was mad.”</blockquote><p>Green’s mentorship, meanwhile, has certainly had a positive impact on Chriss’ resurgence for the struggling Dubs this season. The Dubs did so with Chriss earlier this season and are attempting to do the same with Andrew Wiggins, who was previously scored as a disappointment for a former No. 1 overall pick.</p><p>Bender, the No. 4 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, played only seven games as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks after lasting three seasons in Phoenix. The big man won the final roster spot over Alfonzo McKinnie and showed flashes to start the season, but a roster crunch resulted in Chriss getting waived in early January. However, he was then brought back on a two-way contract before recently signing a two-year contract, with the second year non-guaranteed.</p><p>Chriss has come off the bench for most of the season, however, he has started every game since the Warriors traded Willie Cauley-Stein to the Dallas Mavericks.</p><p>Chriss was a former lottery selection by the Phoenix Suns in 2016. In four seasons, Chriss has been on four different NBA teams and had been struggling to find a consistent role on a team.</p><p>Nonetheless, Chriss has found a way to resuscitate his career with Golden State. The 22-year-old is averaging 8.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 19.2 minutes per game. Chriss is also shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 75.6 percent from the free-throw line.</p><p>Last month, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr gave his thoughts on Chriss during a postgame interview, via <a href="https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/1214643296909135872" rel="noopener noreferrer">Anthony Slater of The Athletic:</a></p><blockquote>“Marquese has been great on and off the floor,” said Kerr. He’s developed, got a fantastic attitude. After his signing became official, Chriss explained what the last week of incertitude was like after playing for three different teams in the past year:</p><blockquote>“It feels good, man. Spears of The Undefeated</a>.</p><p>The Warriors waived Chriss on Jan. 7 to make room for guard Damion Lee, who recently used up his 45 days as a two-way player, in order to clear a roster spot to convert Lee’s contract to a standard NBA contract. Chriss will take Lee’s two-way spot after it becomes vacant later on but will have a prorated 23 days to participate with the Warriors, (h/t <a href="https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/1217162489462321158" rel="noopener noreferrer">Anthony Slater of The Athletic</a>) while also developing with G League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors.</p><p>Chriss, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, was a well-liked player in the Golden State locker room, and he was waived shortly after a Warriors road loss against the Sacramento Kings, dropping him off close to his family.</p><p>Lee played in two recent games against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Clippers but did not participate in Sunday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, as his agent and the team continue to finalize the details of his new NBA contract. Lee’s deal is expected to be done soon.</p><p>The prospect of keeping Chriss as a two-way player was discussed between the young big man and the Warriors’ front office, which badly wanted to keep the 22-year-old after he proved himself as a training camp invite. He took the spot previously held by forward Alfonzo McKinnie.</p><p>Chriss averaged 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists through 37 games with the Warriors, including three starts. By the end of Monday, Lee had taken part in 24 games and 19 practices. Assuming he was held out of Tuesday and Thursday practices, Lee could have used his last two remaining days on Wednesday against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/milwaukee-bucks/">Milwaukee Bucks</a> and Friday against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-clippers/">Los Angeles Clippers</a>.</p><p>Chriss was cognizant of this possibility, with the Warriors being hard-capped and unable to maneuver their roster as they normally would. His deal was the only one non-guaranteed, making him the one to go if a change was to be made.</p><blockquote>“They said it’s been a tough decision,” said Chriss minutes after learning of his release. “It is what it is. I’ve accomplished a lot. I’ve shown what I’m capable of. I’ve shown I belong. People make business decisions.”</blockquote><p>The Warriors had to make that business decision to favor a homegrown talent, and one that had shown rotation potential. He is averaging 12.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from deep and 89.0 percent from the free-throw line.</p><p>The 27-year-old guard started and played for 29 minutes in Monday’s game against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/">Sacramento Kings</a>.</p><p>Marquese Chriss, who also featured for the Warriors against Sacramento, has been an inconsistent figure for the team so far in the season. While there are big expectations that he would be able to be a significant contributor for Golden State this 2019-20 season, it didn’t really work out for him.</p><p>In 36 games he has suit up for the Dubs, Chriss averaged 7.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists while registering 49-19-76 shooting splits. The former 2016 lottery pick had a good stretch earlier in the season — averaging 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in four games in mid-November — but that has been the lone highlight of his Warriors stint.</p><p>Next up in the Warriors’ list is resolving what to do with Ky Bowman, their second two-way player. Unfortunately for Marquese Chriss, his short temper got the best of him against the wrong player.</p><p>In his first season with the Warriors, Chriss is averaging <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chrisma01.html">7.4 points</a>, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He’s shooting 49.1 percent from the field, just 19.0 percent from beyond the arc and 79.8 percent from the free-throw line.</p><p>The Warriors are 9-25 on the season. After going to the NBA Finals five straight seasons, the Dubs are no longer elite. The Warriors have the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst record in the entire NBA.</p><p>Only the Atlanta Hawks (6-27) have a worse record than the Warriors.</p><p>Beyond Draymond Green, the rest of the Warriors’ core from the five-year Finals run is either injured or has moved on from Golden State.</p><p>Stephen Curry is out with a broken left hand and is not expected to play soon. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is still rehabbing his left ACL tear which he sustained during the NBA Finals.</p><p>Kevin Durant has moved on from the Dubs and joined the Brooklyn Nets this past summer. KD is expected to miss the entire season for the Nets due to his Achilles tear.</p><p>Andre Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies this past offseason, though he won’t play a single game for Memphis and is just waiting for his situation to be resolved.
