He has won a basketball, a baseball, and a football championship in fantasy all within a year.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Los Angeles Clippers veteran big man Mason Plumlee has not seen action <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-mason-plumlee-mcl-injury" rel="noopener">for over a month</a>, but it appears that he’s close to finally making a return to the court after getting a <a href="https://twitter.com/NotoriousOHM/status/1741643669923623010" rel="noopener">questionable label</a> ahead of Monday’s game against the Miami Heat at home, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.</p><p><i>“Kawhi Leonard (left hip) is listed as questionable to play tomorrow against Miami. Mason Plumlee (left MCL) has been upgraded to questionable.”</i></p><p>The last time Plumlee played was way back on Nov. 6 against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Plumlee suffered the injury when Knicks forward Julius Randle collided with him while going after the ball.</p><p>The Clippers shouldn’t be in a rush to get Plumlee back, as they have been successful on the court for the most part of the center’s absence. However, several weeks away from the action seems enough for Plumlee to suit up again sooner rather than later. Ivica Zubac has been dependable as the starting center of Los Angeles, while Daniel Theis has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-clippers-trade-target-daniel-theis-mason-plumlee-injury" rel="noopener">also been solid</a> serving as Zubac’s backup.</p><p>Plumlee is playing on a one-year, $5 million deal he signed with the Clippers back in the summer. Before that, he was traded by the Charlotte Hornets to the Clippers in February.</p><p>So far in the 2023-24 NBA regular season, he is averaging 5.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, while shooting 63.2 percent from the field. Plumlee provides muscle in the middle, rebounding, and underrated playmaking as a passer for the Clippers, who are zeroing in on their 20th win of the campaign.</p><p>The 33-year-old Plumlee was selected in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The two-time NBA Finals MVP was expected to be a limited participant in the Clippers’ last practice, but ended up not participating. Upon heading back to Los Angeles to undergo further testing, Plumlee is now expected to <a href="https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1722686748793126929?s=20" rel="noopener">miss multiple months</a> with his MCL sprain, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.</p><p>The good news for Plumlee and Los Angeles is that this does not appear to be a season-ending injury and he should be able to return at some point in 2024.</p><p>The team acquired Plumlee at the trade deadline last season from the Charlotte Hornets and he has provided the Clippers with a sense of balance and stability in their frontcourt behind starting center Ivica Zubac. Just this past summer, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-mason-plumlee-one-year-5-million-nba-free-agency" rel="noopener">Clippers re-signed Plumlee</a> to a one-year, $5 million contract.</p><p>After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-paul-george-gets-100-real-what-surprised-him-about-james-harden-trade" rel="noopener">recently trading for James Harden</a>, the Clippers are left thin in their frontcourt, which is why the organization is evaluating all of their option in terms of adding depth behind Zubac. One player Los Angeles is showing interest in, according to Charania, is Indiana Pacers center Daniel Theis.</p><p>Now in his seventh NBA season, Theis has yet to play with the Pacers this year after recently winning a gold medal with Team Germany at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. There, the 31-year-old averaged 10.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 68.5 percent from the floor.</p><p>A serviceable big man who has always been a reliable defender and rebounder, Theis could provide immediate frontcourt depth to the Clippers, who are looking to compete for their first title in team history this season.</p><p>Trading for Theis would not be an easy task for the Clippers’ front office, especially since they are well above the salary cap. Theis is set to make $9.1 million during the 2023-24 season and he has a $9.5 million team option on his current contract for the 2024-25 season. In order to acquire him from Indiana, the Clippers would need to find a way to match Theis’ $9.1 million for this season.</p><p>The veteran big man has grown unhappy with his current situation in Indiana, which is why he is a likely trade candidate before the 2024 trade deadline in February.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

However, they lost a chunk of their depth by adding Harden and will now be without backup center Mason Plumlee after he suffered a knee injury on Monday night against the New York Knicks.</p><p>According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Plumlee suffered a left knee MCL sprain and is returning to Los Angeles this week to <a href="https://x.com/wojespn/status/1722009688768700913?s=20" rel="noopener">undergo further evaluation</a>. The Clippers will not return home until after their game on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks, which is why Plumlee is heading back to L.A. early.</p><p>As a result, the veteran center will miss at least the team’s next two games in Brooklyn on Wednesday and Dallas on Friday.</p><p>The injury occurred on Monday night when Knicks All-Star Julius Randle dove on the ground for a loose ball and ended up diving straight into Plumlee’s left knee.
