The franchise lost Norman Powell, but was able to add Bradley Beal, John Collins, Brook Lopez, and Chris Paul to the team.</p><p>With the NBA’s schedule release on Thursday afternoon, the Clippers will have some big return games on the docket.</p><h2><b>Clippers’ Bradley Beal, Norman Powell, Brook Lopez return game dates announced</b></h2><p>Bradley Beal played two seasons with the Phoenix Suns, but struggled to develop any kind of chemistry or consistency with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and his teammates in the Valley. The teams were never well-constructed, which led to a number of disappointing games for everyone involved.</p><p>But Suns fans won’t have to wait long to boo their former player.</p><p>Bradley Beal and the LA Clippers will head to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Thursday, November 6, 2025. It will be one of four matchups for the division rivals.</p><p>Norman Powell had a career year with the Clippers in the 2024-25 season, nearly earning an All-Star selection. This past offseason, however, the Clippers targeted size as a need for the roster. Powell was traded to the Miami Heat in a three-team deal that also sent John Collins to the Clippers.</p><p>The Clippers and Heat won’t have to wait long to get that game out of the way either.</p><p>Norman Powell and the Miami Heat will come to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers on Monday, November 3, 2025. The floor-spacing center elected to leave the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency after seven seasons and an NBA Championship.</p><p>The Bucks, however, will have quite a while to prepare their tribute video for the guy nicknamed, “Splash Mountain,” due to his three-point shooting prowess.</p><p>Brook Lopez will make his return to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks as a member of the LA Clippers on Sunday, March 29, 2026. That will be about two weeks before the NBA’s regular season is expected to end.</p><p>Chris Paul was the final player to sign a standard contract with the Clippers this summer, capping off what was an incredible summer for the franchise.</p><p>Paul only played one season with the San Antonio Spurs, but if you ask guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Stephon Castle, one season can be incredibly impactful on one’s career.</p><p>For the second time as a Los Angeles Clippers guard, Chris Paul will return to San Antonio for the first time to take on the Spurs on March 6, 2026.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Specifically at Florida Atlantic University, where Miami has held training camp before, Powell would express how being in South Florida under this situation has been getting him <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article311573872.html" rel="noopener">“acclimated,”</a> according to The Miami Herald.</p><p>“It’s getting me acclimated,” Powell said. “It has been amazing to be welcomed here. Not only with the Jamaican national team, and that side of my culture that I’m embracing and learning about. But being here in South Florida, checking into the hotel, people already know who I am and welcome me and are excited about me being on the Heat.”</p><p>“It’s been amazing,” Powell continued. “I’ve always looked at my life as full-circle moments. Things that have been talked about and signs, and things that you don’t really notice. But then it comes full circle. I was expecting training camp to be in Jamaica, but then I learned that it was in Boca. Speaking after a recent practice with the Jamaican national team, he would also express how eager he is to start a new era in his basketball career.</p><p>“Honestly, I’m super excited about it,” Powell said. “It’s always a shock when you get traded, especially coming off the year that I had, and talking to the front office, and it’s all about extensions and things like that. And then you get a little rumbling that it’s a possibility, but not really. And then you get traded. So the shock is always there.”</p><p>“But the Heat, they’ve welcomed me with open arms,” Powell continued. “They’ve talked about how much they’ve wanted me and liked my game throughout the year, and they’ve tried to get me. So to come to a place that values you and wants you here and understands what you bring to the table and wants you to be you, you can’t be upset or mad about that at all.”</p><p>Last season, Powell averaged 21.8 points per game on shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from deep.</p><p>Powell is hoping to help Miami improve this upcoming season, as they were 37-45, which put them 10th in the Eastern Conference. Adebayo said last Saturday that the move for Powell is a <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article311547377.html" rel="noopener">“very good shake-up”</a> for Miami, according to The Miami Herald.</p><p>“It’s a very good shake-up for our team, and now there’s a different dynamic to it,” Adebayo said.</p><p>Adebayo was the one who put out the message after the season ended at the hands of a Cleveland Cavaliers sweep that changes were coming to the organization. The deal for Powell displayed that, with Adebayo no doubt being a fan of the move, saying that they added an “All-Star caliber player.”</p><p>“I feel like Norman is one of those guys that floats under the radar,” Adebayo said. “But as you saw this year, he’s really shown that he can be an All-Star caliber player. You’ve seen what he’s done, and you’ve seen him grow in this league. And, obviously, he wants to take the next challenge. Obviously, the next challenge is being with the Miami Heat. However, there were some decisions to be made in who gets traded from Miami’s side, plus some other departures featuring a familiar place.</p><p>In the Powell trade, the Heat would deal Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson (who came from the Jimmy Butler trade), and aside from that, long-time Miami sharpshooter Duncan Robinson would go to the Detroit Pistons in a sign-and-trade. Adebayo had been teammates with Robinson since the 2018-19 season and also had developed a close relationship with Love, as the star showed love to the two.</p><p>“I’m going to miss them, obviously,” Adebayo said. “Just because Duncan has been here for eight years, and having that connection was special. And then K-Love was a leader that could speak to somebody from a championship level, could obviously encourage the younger group, be an example, but also he was the bridge between some of the coaches and the players. So like I said, I’m going to miss both of them. I’m glad we had the time that we did. ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that it would be a two-year, $11 million deal for Beal to take his talents to the City of Angels, marking the third team he will have played for in his career.</p><p>The free agency signing fills up a void at shooting guard for the Clippers that was opened up once Norman Powell departed for the Miami Heat as part of a three team trade.</p><p>Some Clippers fans feel as though the former All-Star Beal will be able to replace if not improve upon what Powell was able to provide for the team, but <a href="https://x.com/zachkram/status/1945567417070960856" rel="noopener">not everyone is</a> so sure about that.</p><p>Recently, Zach Kram of ESPN took to X, formerly Twitter, to display a chart of the career DARKO DPM for both Beal and Powell, with Powell’s portion of the graph significantly outpacing Beal’s last season.</p><p>DARKO DPM is a statistical model that uses both box score and plus-minus data to more accurately measure a player’s overall impact.</p><p>“I don’t understand the sentiment I’ve seen on here that Bradley Beal is an upgrade over Norm Powell at this stage of their careers,” wrote Kram on X.</p><h2><b>Did the Clippers upgrade?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Ex-Phoenix-Suns-guard-Bradley-Beal.jpg"><figcaption>Soobum Im-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It’s important to note that the Clippers didn’t simply replace Powell with Beal as a one-for-one exchange. As it’s been a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-norman-powell-reveals-childhood-dream-to-play-for-miami">childhood dream for Powell to play on the Heat</a>, he would also express how underrated of a player he is in the NBA.</p><p>Powell spoke to the media for the first time since the deal and said that with the opportunity in front of him, he could be an All-Star. One could argue he showcased that last season, <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/allstar/NBA_2025_voting.html" rel="noopener">finishing top-10 in All-Star voting</a> in the Western Conference backcourt, breaking out with the Los Angeles Clippers.</p><p>“I’ve not been shy to say that I’m a starter, that I can be an all-star given the opportunity,” Powell said on a Zoom press conference. “And I think, like I said this year, given the free rein and the opportunity that was in front of me, I showcased that, you know, being a top 10 in all-star voting, and people talking about me being a snub and how I should have made the All-Star team. That’s how I see myself in the positions of Dwayne Wade, Kobe, my favorite players, like that’s why I saw myself growing up, and that’s what I believe myself to be.”</p><p>The 32-year-old took advantage of the injury to Kawhi Leonard to start last season and picked up a lot of the weight, and still finished the season averaging 21.8 points per game on shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from deep.</p><h2><b>Norman Powell sees himself as a “key” player for the Heat</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Norman-Powell-24-takes-a-free-throw-against-the-Utah-Jazz.jpg"><figcaption>© Christopher Creveling-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>To get Powell, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-channing-frye-reveals-appreciate-miami-kevin-love-trade">the Heat would trade Kevin Love</a> and Kyle Anderson, who both ended up going to the Utah Jazz in what ended up being a three-team deal. On paper, Miami would get a productive scoring threat, which the team desperately needed, on a contract year for two players who were in and out of the rotation.</p><p>As even Powell described and sees himself as, he’s not only a plug-and-play guard, but will likely be Miami’s first or second option right alongside Tyler Herro in the scoring department.</p><p>“I see myself as a guy that obviously is a plug and play, but I see myself as a key guy, a one, two option that can help carry a team to win,” Powell said. “You know, I’m a basketball player. I know everybody has their own opinions and their own thoughts about what each player’s role should be, or what their limitations and things like that are.”</p><p>“But I never believed that for myself. I always saw myself as a go-to guy that can help carry a team, help a team win,” Powell continued. “And I’ve always been concerned about winning, you know. So I don’t have a big ego of, ‘I have to be the main guy,’ like, I want to win at the end of the day.”</p><p>The Heat hopes Powell can help them improve after finishing 37-45, which put them 10th in the East, though they would make it through the play-in tournament. The 31-year-old would express how excited he is to ClutchPoints about being able to play with the <a href="https://x.com/ZachWeinberger/status/1943056717266211022" rel="noopener">“versatile”</a> duo of Herro and Adebayo.</p><p>“I’m really excited,” Powell said. “I was competing against them throughout the years, having the conversations on and off the court with Bam in passing and things like that. You know, I like what they’re building. I like the culture. They compete every single night. You know, no matter who’s healthy, who’s in, out the lineup, they’re putting a full team out there that’s going to compete and fight for wins, they’re scrappy, they’re gritty, they’re competitive, they’re very confident, and that’s what I like.”</p><p>“They’re very versatile, too,” Powell continued. “Bam can play multiple positions, can attack multitude of ways, defensively, can switch, can defend different positions, protect the rim, really athletic. Tyler Herro, he’s great off the ball, on the ball, scoring, facilitating. However, the trade has also created <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-norman-powell-message-to-la-after-heat-trade">a vacancy in the Clippers’ backcourt.</a></p><p>Bradley Beal, who has been linked to an exit from the Phoenix Suns all offseason, is reportedly edging closer to finalizing a buyout. The Clippers, who have around $5.3 million remaining of their mid-level exception, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/siegels-scoop-latest-intel-jonathan-kuminga-chris-paul-top-remaining-free-agents">are seen as the favorites to land him</a> when and if that happens.</p><h2><b>Bradley Beal represents huge potential upside for the Clippers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Bradley-Beal-Suns-2.jpg"><figcaption>Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal (3) reacts during the first half against the Golden State Warriors at Footprint Center.</figcaption></figure><p>The Clippers undoubtedly have a backcourt void, and they already seem to be making pointed moves. They waived forward Jordan Miller despite having the means to keep him, a move understood to be <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-la-makes-key-roster-decision-amid-bradley-beal-chris-paul-rumors">a precursor to a potential Beal acquisition</a>.</p><p>The three-time All-Star is understood to be considering the Clippers along with the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Golden State Warriors. Although Beal is coming off a difficult season that was hampered by injuries, he still produced <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bealbr01.html" rel="noopener">17 points per game</a> while playing alongside primary ball handlers in Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, per Basketball Reference.</p><p>That is something which will also be true alongside Kawhi Leonard and James Harden at the Clippers as well. Beal can also provide backup as a playmaker while emerging as a legitimate scoring threat that immediately replaces Powell’s output.</p><p>The Clippers’ situation also aligns perfectly with that of the player. Beal’s remaining salary for the upcoming season will probably be stretched over five years, and he is expected to sign a short-term deal which will allow him to test waters once again in the coming time.</p><p>While Beal remains a priority, the situation also depends on whether the player is able to actually agree a buyout with the Suns. In case the agreement never materializes, the Clippers still have alternatives and have been linked to Chris Paul in free agency.</p><p>Paul is another veteran available on a minimum contract, and the Clippers have the advantage as the player is understood to be prioritizing a move closer to home in LA, where his family resides. Both players bring their own strengths and would immediately provide the profile the Clippers’ roster is begging for. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/nba-news-clippers-jazz-heat-pull-off-3-team-trade-norman-powell-john-collins">Heat acquired fringe All-Star-caliber player Norman Powell</a> in a three-team trade involving the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers and needed to give up just Kyle Anderson, Kevin Love, and a second-round pick.</p><p>For that price, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-trade-grade-for-norman-powell-deal-with-clippers-jazz">getting Powell was a no-brainer</a>. For all the flak the Heat front office has caught for their hardball way of conducting business in trades, this was a steal even if Powell didn’t play his best basketball for the Clippers in their first-round series exit against the Denver Nuggets.</p><p>Nonetheless, even with Powell joining Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and Andrew Wiggins, it’s not likely for the Heat to be anything more than a middle-seeded playoff team even though they reside in the wide-open Eastern Conference. There are some moves the Heat have to make still, and they at least appear to have the assets to swing this deal if need be.</p><p>Here is the next trade the Heat must make after acquiring Powell.</p><h2><b>Heat trade Terry Rozier for prime bounce-back candidate Marcus Smart</b></h2><p><b>Heat acquire: Marcus Smart</b></p><p><b>Wizards acquire: Terry Rozier</b></p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Wizards-Marcus-Smart.jpg"><figcaption>© Daniel Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>At this point, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-erik-spoelstra-reveals-why-he-totally-benched-terry-rozier-vs-hawks">Terry Rozier is just hogging up some valuable space</a> on the Heat’s cap sheet. When he was acquired in early 2024 in a trade that saw the Heat gave up a lottery-protected 2028 first-round pick for him, he was a flamethrower for the Charlotte Hornets who was averaging over 23 points per game. Since then, Rozier has been on the decline, and suffice to say, he hasn’t met expectations at all in South Beach.</p><p>In fact, Rozier was investigated for his potential involvement in a betting scandal, and though <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-terry-rozier-cleared-wrongdoing-betting-scandal">he was cleared</a>, it’s been rather apparent that his head isn’t in the right space and he’s not long for the Heat organization. During the 2024-25 campaign, Rozier was dismal, averaging just 10.6 points on 39.1 percent shooting from the field and amid a season of flux with the Jimmy Butler situation and all, it was shocking for Rozier to end up being a complete shell of his former self.</p><p>A change of scenery might be the move for Rozier, as even his first half season in Miami did not yield the results he had when he was playing in Charlotte. Sometimes, it simply does not work out for a player in a particular context, and there has been more than enough evidence that Rozier isn’t the best fit with the Heat.</p><p>At the very least, Rozier’s contract is <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/17844/terry-rozier" rel="noopener">expiring at the end</a> of the 2025-26 campaign, so it’s not like the Heat will be stuck with a potential albatross on their books for the long-term. But with the Heat always looking to remain semi-competitive, it should be in the best interest for them to find a way to improve the roster using the $26.6 million remaining on his deal.</p><p>Rozier has negative trade value, but with the Heat not having too many draft assets at their disposal, it’s unlikely for them to swing a trade for an impact player. They will have to part ways with perhaps their 2026 or 2030 first-rounder to do so. And the Heat might not want to be that aggressive considering they’re not among the teams with a legitimate chance to win it all come next year.</p><p>Trading Rozier for another depressed asset might be the way. And with that, why not approach the Washington Wizards on a potential one on one swap for Marcus Smart, who’s in the <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/15358/marcus-smart" rel="noopener">final year</a> of his contract making $21.6 million.</p><p>Smart has endured a difficult past two seasons, playing in just 54 games combined during that span. But when healthy, he’s shown flashes of being the lockdown 3-and-D guard he’s been throughout his career. Alas, it’s possible that Smart is never healthy again and that he hangs it up within the next year or so considering how badly the past two seasons have gone for him on the injury front.</p><p>Smart seems to pick up little knocks here and there, which have added up and contributed to him not being his best self even if he’s just 31 years of age. But perhaps he finds himself rejuvenated with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-pat-riley-talk-about-heat-culture-makes-people-throw-up">Heat’s training regimen</a>, and if Miami manages to nurse him back to full health, he’d be a valuable backcourt piece, giving the Heat a lockdown defensive backcourt duo with him and Davion Mitchell.</p><p>Giving up a second-round pick to buy low on Smart isn’t too high of a price to pay, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/washington-wizards/wizards-rumors-marcus-smart-trade-market-details-surface">Smart has more impact upside</a> than Rozier does, making it worth the risk to get ahead of the competition with many teams looking to take a chance on the former Defensive Player of the Year should he hit the buyout market.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Giving his thoughts on the deal, Mitchell <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article310151205.html" rel="noopener">would talk about the importance</a> of Powell winning a title, as he did with the Toronto Raptors in 2021, according to The Miami Herald.</p><p>“First of all, he’s won a championship before,” Mitchell said. “So he’s been there, he’s been through the thick and the thin and he’s been around really good teammates. He played with a really good team. He’s a winning player, he plays both sides of the ball, he can score with the best of them. He kind of does it all. Even if he’s not shooting the ball well, he can disrupt defensively. So you want guys like that on the floor that can help you win like that.”</p><p>He would imply that the sky is the limit for the team, as despite not having total chemistry with new pieces, they would make the playoffs.</p><p>“It’s going to be good for me and the team, just the chemistry that we can build,” Mitchell said. “We won a couple games, we even made it to the playoffs with very little chemistry, especially with injuries and just getting traded here. So we didn’t really know how to jell with one another. Because there were a lot of moving pieces with the trade after the deadline, Mitchell believes that the experience, plus the offseason, will do wonders for the chemistry.</p><p>“But to have a training camp with one another, just to go at each other, just to learn from one another, spend time outside of basketball with each other, I think is going to build a lot of team chemistry,” Mitchell said.</p><p>Now with adding Powell, the talent in the backcourt along with star Tyler Herro and Mitchell is one to monitor as re-signing the latter seemed to be a priority heading into the summer.</p><p>“I just wanted to do what was best for me and my family, obviously,” Mitchell said. “But I wanted to be here, I wanted to keep playing here, especially because I didn’t have that many months here. I got traded in February, so I wanted to see what I could do for this team and what we can do as an organization.”</p><p>At any rate, Miami is looking to improve after finishing with a 37-45 record, which put them 10th in the East, but made it through the play-in tournament. The clip followed an initial post featuring the words “Thank You” plastered <a href="https://x.com/LAClippers/status/1942335715251216661" rel="noopener">across multiple pictures of the 32-year-old</a>.</p><p>Powell has been traded after producing his career-best year, during which he averaged 21.8 points and 3,2 assists while shooting at almost 42% from the 3-point zone. Powell had developed into a fan favorite in recent seasons and has been traded for 27-year-old John Collins.</p><p>While Powell undoubtedly was the best player involved in the trade, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the coming season. Considering his growth, Powell is likely to command a huge pay rise on his estimated $20 million salary for the upcoming season. He also can help space the floor, shot 40% from 3 this past year, will also help with our rebounding.”</p><p>Collins averaged 19 points and 8.2 rebounds for a struggling Jazz last season that finished last in the Western Conference with a 17-65 record.
