We will continue working with PJ and his representative to find the best situation for him moving forward.”</p><p>Tucker was traded to the Clippers last season with James Harden, and he played some games with the team, but after a while, he fell out of the rotation. In 28 games for the Clippers, Tucker averaged 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds. Tucker picked up his $11.5 million player option for the season with hopes that maybe he and the Clippers can find a trade partner for him.</p><h2>PJ Tucker talks about possible retirement</h2><p>Earlier in the offseason, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-gets-real-possible-retirement">PJ Tucker talked about retiring</a> and when he’d know it’s time to hang up his jersey.</p><p>“Honestly, I don’t know. I am going to let my body tell me. I do my best to be healthy pretty much my entire career, and I still feel pretty good. You know, I’m just like letting it play out. Once my body tells me, I’m thinking that I’ll do it.</p><p>“A lot of the guys that I used to play with retired too early and tried to make a comeback. I don’t want to be one of those guys. Only LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Taj Gibson <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-takes-shot-at-ty-lue-la-shock-start-amid-lack-of-playing-time">are older than PJ Tucker.</a> Obviously, a big lingering question is always going to be about his retirement. While it is looming, he posits that he can still give his all while playing for Tyronn Lue and alongside Kawhi Leonard. He outlined this desire in <a href="https://x.com/SiriusXMNBA/status/1823073459171442988" rel="noopener">his latest radio appearance</a> on SiriusXM NBA.</p><p>“Honestly, I don’t know. If Tucker’s heart was to be followed, he would have retired with the Miami Heat.</p><p>“Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. I expressed that I didn’t want to leave. But with their situation and their not wanting to be hard-capped, I knew it was going to be a possibility. My family is still there. So I obviously wanted to be there, but it didn’t work out. I thought I was going to retire in Miami. But I don’t fault them at all. On numerous occasions, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pj-tucker-heat-reunion-but-catch" rel="noopener">Tucker has publicly</a> called out the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-tyronn-lue-calls-out-las-extreme-schedule-ahead-bucks-showdown" rel="noopener">Clippers’ coaching staff</a>–led by Ty Lue–for his lack of playing time, and on Sunday afternoon, his wish was granted, as he was inserted into the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Bucks.</p><p>And yet, somehow, Tucker is still (subtly) complaining.</p><p>“Tough? Finding out the morning of that you are going to start and play minutes for the first time in five months in the NBA, I don’t know, there’s got to be a better word than tough,” said Tucker, when asked if it was tough to find a rhythm after being out of the lineup for so long, per Janis Carr of the Orange County Register on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter.</p><p>At 36 years old, <a href="https://twitter.com/janiscarr/status/1766958209880006916" rel="noopener">it’s not clear exactly</a> what skillset PJ Tucker has to offer at this point that his coaches are so cruelly denying from the world. Be sure to follow him on Twitter @BrettSiegelNBA.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The NBA has <a href="https://x.com/NBAPR/status/1758223465029439931?s=20" rel="noopener">fined</a> Los Angeles Clippers forward PJ Tucker $75,000 for his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-doubles-down-on-trade-request-hours-before-deadline" rel="noopener">public comments</a> reported during the week of February 5 expressing a desire to be traded to another team, the league announced on Thursday.</p><p>Tucker, 38, had made it known that he wanted to be dealt ahead of the NBA trade deadline on February 8 to a different contending team where he would have a chance to play. The Clippers were unable to find a trade that they liked involving the veteran, ultimately leading to his current status in Los Angeles.</p><p>While there was some speculation about Tucker possibly reaching a buyout agreement with the Clippers, that does not appear to be an option at this time. Recently, Tucker spoke with ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly about his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-inside-pj-tuckers-frustrations-and-future-with-clippers" rel="noopener">frustrations with the organization</a>, clearly stating that he had no intentions of a buyout.</p><p>“Nah,” Tucker said. “That’s not on the table.”</p><p>Unlike James Harden, who had requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in the season, Tucker claimed that he never requested a trade from the Sixers. As a result, he believes that the way the Clippers are handling his situation is wrong.</p><p>“I didn’t ask to be here,” Tucker told Azarly. “I didn’t ask for and I didn’t demand a trade to be here.”</p><p>On Wednesday, it was reported that the Clippers had <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-stepping-away-reset-mindset-months-frustration" rel="noopener">sent Tucker and Bones Hyland home</a> ahead of their road game against the Golden State Warriors and the All-Star break. No clear reason was given for their departure from the team, but both players were involved in trade rumors leading up to last week’s deadline.</p><p>With a week to clear his mind, Tucker is expected to return to the team following the All-Star break. It is unlikely that he will become a part of the Clippers’ rotations again, especially since he has not played since November 27.</p><p>In 12 games with the Clippers this season, Tucker has averaged 1.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in roughly 14 minutes per game.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Tucker and Hyland are both expected to join the Clippers following the All-Star break, which concludes with the team’s expected first official practice on Wednesday, February 21st.</p><p>This is just another development in what’s been a frustrating season for 38-year old PJ Tucker.</p><p>Back in December, Tucker expressed his frustrations to ClutchPoints about not playing or being in the rotation.</p><p>“I feel like I still got a lot to contribute to a team to be able to win, whether that’s here or somewhere else,” <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">PJ Tucker told ClutchPoints</a> in an exclusive interview back in December. “I know myself, my worth. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring. And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that.”</p><p>With about two months left before the NBA trade deadline, the 13-year NBA veteran was hopeful to find a new home — preferably a contender where he could get legitimate rotation minutes while competing for an NBA championship. That didn’t materialize at the deadline, which sparked even more frustration for Tucker.</p><p>“Coming here, you try to figure out the best way possible to be able to do what you do. But, you know, like I said, sometimes you see it and it ain’t there. Sometimes you see it, but the team doesn’t see it the way you see it.”</p><p>So, what does the future hold for PJ Tucker?</p><p>For starters, a buyout is not something under consideration for Tucker. The veteran is owed a little over $11 million for this 2023-24 season, as well as an $11.5 million player option for the 2024-25 season</p><p>“Nah,” PJ Tucker told ClutchPoints earlier this week about a potential buyout. “That’s not on the table.”</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/P.J.-Tucker-prepares-to-shoot-as-he-warms-up.webp"><figcaption>Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>Head coach Tyronn Lue addressed the Clippers sending both Tucker and Bones Hyland home ahead of the All-Star break, saying he understands their frustrations.</p><p>“I mean it’s a good thing because I played the game and I understand that you want to have competitors on your team,” Tyronn Lue told reporters at Wednesday’s shootaround. “They want to play. And so when you try to get traded and it doesn’t work out and you want to go to a place where you want to play, it doesn’t mean they’re not happy here, which they are. But they want to play, they want to compete.”</p><p>Tucker played in his first 12 games with the Clippers, averaging 14.4 minutes per game all off the bench. The team struggled to play at a high level during his time on the court, and a lot of it was due to a positional crunch. The Clippers went 4-8 in the games that Tucker played, including the six-game losing streak when he first arrived while registering a -8.9 net rating in 137 minutes. The Clippers desperately needed athleticism and shooting around Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden, which is why they tried playing rookie Kobe Brown before finding something in Amir Coffey.</p><p>Tucker hasn’t played since November 27th, and there’s no expectation that he’ll join the rotation anytime soon. In fact, Tucker, who has not been inactive for any of the Clippers’ games this season, has rarely put his jersey on for almost 3 months while sitting on the bench. Since the trade deadline, Tucker has started wearing his jersey.</p><p>“When you’ve got guys like PJ, who have another year left on his deal, he can ride off into the sunset, he’s 70 years old,” Lue added Wednesday. “But he wants to play, he wants to compete. And so you understand that you want guys like that. So the trade didn’t happen, they’re going to be here. So we’re just gonna give them a little time off, get their minds right and come back Oklahoma City and be ready to go.”</p><p>Still, Tyronn Lue said Tucker should remain ready to receive an opportunity as the season transitions into March and April.</p><p>Terance Mann and Norman Powell, the two players who sit to the right and left of PJ Tucker in the Clippers locker room, have credited Tucker with not letting his frustrations spill into the locker room and continuing to be the player-leader they need from the sidelines.</p><p>“PJ’s been great,” Terance Mann said. “He’s been great, he’s always vocal on the bench, telling us what we need to be doing, what we don’t need to be going. He’s a great guy. He’s not going to be selfish and take away from the team at all. So, you know, he’s been great. I think a lot of defensive stuff, just being physical. He always taught me, move people off their spots and just being physical.”</p><p>“I played with PJ in Toronto for a season and I mean he’s always been a great locker room guy no matter what’s going on personally for him in his career,” Norman Powell added. “He’s always given advice, always talking about the game and how we can win and improve, especially defensively. That’s where he makes his mark. So I still joke with him on the things that he was telling me. He always gives me a hard time about some of the rotations. Like, ‘man, that’s the same thing I was telling you when we was in Toronto. You’re still doing it.’ So he’s always been good. He’s a good vet.</p><p>“I know he is probably frustrated,” Powell continued. “He wants the opportunity and hopefully down the stretch of this second half of the season, after All-Star, he will be able to make a contribution. It’s more on the coaches to figure out how to use him because he’s really good, especially as an enforcer on the defensive end. I think when the game starts to slow down, especially in the playoffs and teams start to lock in, he’ll be a good guy to go to and you need a big body to bang and be physical and take somebody out.”</p><p>—</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/James-Harden-speaks-with-Philadelphia-76ers-teammate-PJ-Tucker.webp"><figcaption>Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>During the summer of 2022, James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers worked to sign PJ Tucker as a free agent, eventually inking him to a three-year, $33 million deal. Tucker will be 40 years old at the end of his current deal, assuming he opts into his 2024-25 option.</p><p>When Harden signed the one-plus-one deal that summer, taking a paycut in order to help the Sixers facilitate roster moves to contend for a championship, the expectation was that James would opt out and receive a long-term contract the following offseason.</p><p>There were reports that Harden’s malcontent with the Sixers began once they didn’t communicate with him ahead of free agency, and there was reportedly no max contract offer. So while Harden’s trade request was documented, the same could not be said for PJ Tucker at the time.</p><p>A 13-year veteran who has spent time and won championships both in the NBA as well as overseas, PJ Tucker says he doesn’t feel like this current role with the Clippers is something he has to endure because, unlike Harden, he never requested a trade.</p><p>“No, not necessarily because I feel like I shouldn’t have to go through this,” Tucker told ClutchPoints regarding his status with the Clippers. “I didn’t ask to be here. I didn’t ask for and I didn’t demand a trade to be here.”</p><p>In regards to Tucker being on the move, he made it very clear when asked if he ever requested a trade from Philly:</p><p>“No,” Tucker adamantly responded. “So, I don’t feel like it’s something I have to deal with. I don’t look at it as one of those things. When I was younger, struggling to play or trying to figure it out. I figured it out, I mastered my craft, and what I bring to teams. So, it’s something I got to deal with, yeah, but it is what it is.”</p><p>“So, I don’t feel like it’s something I have to deal with. I don’t look at it as one of those things. So, it’s something I got to deal with, yeah, but it is what it is.”</p><p>Tucker’s eventual addition to the James Harden trade package was puzzling, especially considering the different pathways that could’ve landed the Clippers James Harden while also retaining a respected veteran like Nicolas Batum or Robert Covington. But sources familiar with the situation who are not authorized to speak publicly said there was essentially no James Harden trade with the Clippers without PJ Tucker’s inclusion.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/PJ-Tucker-with-his-tongue-out-during-Clippers-Nuggets.webp"><figcaption>Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The Sixers were determined to move off Tucker and his contract in any Harden trade, per sources, and some of the delays in getting a Harden deal done were initially because the Clippers were trying to find ways not to take his contract on, including potentially re-routing him to a third team. ClutchPoints NBA insider <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/siegels-scoop-inside-james-harden-sixers-clippers-trade" rel="noopener">Brett Siegel reported on this</a> and the James Harden trade in detail.</p><p>Ultimately, the Clippers were forced to give up Batum and take on Tucker in their deal to acquire James Harden. Tucker told ClutchPoints that being included in the trade was a surprise, especially since he was told by the Sixers’ front office that he wasn’t going to be moved.</p><p>“Yeah, and they still traded me.”</p><p>With a weeklong All-Star break to refocus on the Clippers, Tucker, who turns 39 years of age in May, still plans to show up to the gym early to get his work in and still plans to be the positive veteran the Clippers need.</p><p>“That’s natural, regardless of what’s going on with the front office. [I have] a responsibility to the guys to be positive. It’s not their fault.”</p><p>“I’m 38. I know the game. I know what it takes. It’s something that, like I can’t get out of shape. I get out of shape, it might be over, I might get injured, all kind of shit can happen. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring. And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that.”</p><p>With Tucker <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-clippers-pj-tucker-actively-looking-for-trade-amid-minimal-role" rel="noopener">remaining on the Clippers’ roster</a> past the trade deadline, many speculated that he could become a prime buyout candidate for several playoff-contending teams around the league. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-new-pj-tucker-makes-decision-on-future-after-trade-deadline-passes" rel="noopener">Tucker won’t be seeking a buyout</a> at this time, as he is making $11 million this season and owns an $11.5 million player option for the 2024-25 season.</p><p>The team also looked into moving Hyland ahead of the trade deadline. Los Angeles acquired him ahead of the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for two second-round picks. The 23-year-old has only played in 19 games this season, averaging 6.2 points.</p><p>No reasoning has been given on why either player was sent home by the team. As a result, the veteran forward has made a decision on his future with the franchise.</p><p>For whatever reason, the Clippers were unable to find a trade partner for PJ Tucker. For that reason, many believe Tucker is going to ask for a buyout and become a free agent. However, reports indicate the veteran forward <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/1755686497225715741" rel="noopener">wants to stay</a> in LA despite asking for a trade ahead of the deadline, according to Chris Haynes of TNT.</p><p>“Los Angeles Clippers forward PJ Tucker will not request a buyout and will remain with team the duration of season after trade attempts fell short, league sources tell TNT and Bleacher Report.”</p><p>You’d think Tucker would ask for a buyout considering he’d likely receive some offers as a free agent. He still provides consistent three-point shooting and would likely help another playoff contender who needs some depth. Regardless, PJ Tucker wants to remain in LA and play for the Clippers.</p><p>Tucker has only played in 15 games this season. He’s currently averaging 1.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and shooting 31.6% from the field. PJ Tucker is also averaging 14.4 minutes playing for the Clippers this season.</p><p>On the flip side, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-doubles-down-on-trade-request-hours-before-deadline" rel="noopener">PJ Tucker may be</a> fine with his role in LA after not getting traded. He’s coming off the bench and isn’t being asked to play a ton. If anything, he serves as a solid rotational option for the Clippers. Tucker also brings a ton of experience to the table which will only help this team come playoff time.</p><p>With that said, look for Tucker to remain in Los Angeles this season. It’s hard to imagine the Clippers go against his wishes and buyout his contract. The Clippers made their big trade, acquiring James Harden in late October 2023.</p><p>Since trading for Harden, the Clippers have not been linked to any trade scenarios that reached the final stages. The one player who has requested a trade, however, is PJ Tucker.</p><p><a href="https://twitter.com/TomerAzarly/status/1755416314779501002" rel="noopener">Tucker told ClutchPoints</a> that while it has been great being on this Clippers team with the run that they’ve been able to make, the 38-year-old’s stance hasn’t changed from a few months ago: he would like a trade to a potential NBA championship contender where he can also play significant minutes.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">PJ Tucker says it’s been great being on this Clippers team with the run that they’ve been able to make, but the 38-year old’s stance hasn’t changed from when we spoke a few months ago:</p><p>He wants a trade and an opportunity to play on a contending team.</p><p>— Tomer Azarly (@TomerAzarly) <a href="https://twitter.com/TomerAzarly/status/1755416314779501002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 8, 2024</a></p></blockquote><p><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p></figure><p>The 2021 NBA champion spoke with ClutchPoints after falling out of the team’s rotation in December and said he was hoping to be traded.</p><p>“I feel like I still got a lot to contribute to a team to be able to win, whether that’s here or somewhere else,” <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">PJ Tucker told ClutchPoints</a> in an exclusive interview. “I know myself, my worth. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring. And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that.”</p><h2><b>Will Clippers trade PJ Tucker? </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/NBA_trade_rumors_Buying_selling_latest_chatter_around_Zach_LaVine_Pascal_Siakam_5.webp"></figure><p>Ahead of this year’s trade deadline, Paul George says there are no distractions with the trade deadline almost here.</p><p>“I mean, I think just the group is focused,” George said following Wednesday night’s loss against the New Orleans Pelicans. “We’re just focused on moving forward. That’s different, more so than the other years. We’re honestly not looking to make any moves. I don’t think that we are looking in this locker room thinking where can we get better? We know we have enough to win right now and, so, yeah, I don’t think anyone’s nervous or worried about their positioning spot here. I think we’re in a good place with a great locker room.”</p><p>PJ Tucker, who has been a teammate of James Harden’s for years now, is someone Harden is hoping remains past the deadline to help win a championship.</p><p>“PJ brings leadership depending on what happens after tomorrow,” James Harden added after the Pelicans loss. “Tomorrow, if he’s here, get locked in and be a part of this as far as, I mean, being in the rotation because he’s a game changer.”</p><p>It remains to be seen what the Clippers have in store for their trade deadline, but there’s a decent chance Tucker, who has an $11.5 million player option for the 2024-25 season, remains with the team.</p><p>“[Being a good vet] is valuable to any team,” <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">Tucker explained to ClutchPoints</a> in December. “Not just to be able to talk it but to be able to show it and to know how and to be able to line up with guys and show them how it’s done, how to do it. But at the same time, without a doubt, I mean, I was a 30-minute game starter for the last I don’t know how many years. To go from that to in the same season, not playing at all… It’s everything.”</p><p>Tucker, a 13-year NBA veteran, has averaged 1.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game this season. He now writes about sports instead as a form of therapy.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Los Angeles Clippers, back in late October, had to acquire PJ Tucker in addition to James Harden to complete the blockbuster trade that would end up turning the team’s fortunes around. While Tucker has clearly lost a step, the hope was that he would continue to be a solid 3-and-D rotation piece for a team with championship aspirations. However, head coach Tyronn Lue has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-amir-coffey-may-not-be-from-la-but-hes-the-clippers-perfect-homegrown-talent" rel="noopener">decided to roll with youngsters</a> Kobe Brown, and more recently, the nascent Amir Coffey, removing Tucker completely out of the rotation.</p><p>Since November 27, the Clippers have given Tucker a grand total of zero minutes (including garbage time). As a result, Tucker, who has been a starter for much of the past seven seasons, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">requested a trade</a>, desiring to seek another team where he could be part of the rotation. Now, despite the Clippers’ emergence into being one of the best teams in the league since mothballing Tucker, the veteran forward is <a href="https://twitter.com/TomerAzarly/status/1755416314779501002" rel="noopener">still seeking a move elsewhere</a>.</p><p>According to Clippers beat reporter for ClutchPoints, Tomer Azarly, “the 38-year old’s stance hasn’t changed from when we spoke a few months ago: He wants a trade and an opportunity to play on a contending team.”</p><p>Now, given how uninspiring PJ Tucker’s play has been this season, it’s difficult to envision any contending team seeking out any trade that brings Tucker and <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/la-clippers/pj-tucker-11059/" rel="noopener">the remaining two years</a> and $22.5 million on his deal into the fold. That doesn’t seem to be the best use of resources, especially when Tucker is treading the line of being completely washed up.</p><p>The Clippers, who have been subtly urged by Kawhi Leonard to acquire a natural power forward, could end up using Tucker’s contract, as well as their remaining draft capital, to acquire another rotation piece. That would constitute the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-dream-scenario-for-2024-nba-trade-deadline" rel="noopener">team’s dream scenario</a> with a few hours to go before the trade deadline.</p><p>Nonetheless, given how onerous Tucker’s contract is and that he’s likely to pick up his player option for next season, the Clippers may have no choice but to keep him on the roster until the end of the season. When the offseason starts, however, Tucker should be much easier to trade since his contract will be expiring by then.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

But there’s a catch, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel:</p><p>“Tucker, who is looking to find a team wanting to utilize his services right now, would welcome a reunion with the Heat, sources said. However, Miami’s financial situation would make pursuing his $11 million contract almost impossible.”</p><p>The Clippers have reportedly <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-clippers-trade-pj-tucker-bones-hyland" rel="noopener">been shopping Tucker</a> after he fell out of the rotation. If he isn’t moved before the deadline, Tucker is not expected to discuss a buyout, which makes sense given his $11 million salary at 38 years old.</p><p>After 50 games, the Heat are 26-24 and eighth in the East. They recently acquired guard Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick. But Rozier has struggled in his seven games with the Heat, shooting below 33 percent and averaging 11.7 points per game.</p><p>The Heat have struggled offensively in general, ranking 22nd in the NBA. The defense, something Tucker has historically helped with in the past, ranks a more respectable 12th, though that is lower than last season’s 9th-ranked and the previous season’s 5th-ranked defense.</p><p>Given the Heat’s salary situation – with Jimmy Butler earning more than $45 million this season, while Bam Adebayo makes more than $32 million and Tyler Herro and Rozier combine to earn more than $50 million – Miami will have a difficult time pulling off any sort of deal that brings Tucker in.</p><p> </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Now, Tucker is out of the rotation and is playing the mentor role with younger players on the team, but he wants to be moved and play, according to Youngmisuk.</p><p>With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching on Thursday, time is ticking for the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-russell-westbrook-gets-100-honest-on-joining-la-from-lakers-last-season" rel="noopener">Clippers</a> to move Tucker somewhere. Tucker is an experienced player who has been a part of many contending teams before, and won the 2021 NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.</p><p>Tucker could provide experienced guard play off the bench for a team if they need it. It will be interesting to see if there are any takers for him before Thursday’s NBA Trade Deadline.</p><p>At the beginning of the year before the James Harden trade, Tucker was in the starting lineup for the 76ers, and was a key piece for them the season before. He was also a key part of the rotation for the Miami Heat in 2021-2022. And if that were to happen, the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/toronto-appears-to-be-seeking-established-young-players-in-deal-for-pascal-siakam-165933967.html" rel="noopener">could make a run for him</a>, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.</p><p>“The Clippers’ P.J. Tucker remains a strong trade candidate, with the Wizards being mentioned as a possible landing spot, sources said. Washington would offer the opportunity of a buyout for Tucker. The Suns and Bucks are two teams considered possible homes for Tucker if he were to become a free agent, sources said,” Fischer wrote.</p><p>For the Wizards, trading for PJ Tucker and allowing him to get a buyout appears to be a potential salary-shedding move. After all, if Tucker were to seek a buyout, he would likely need to give back some of the money he is owed on his contract.</p><p>As for the Bucks and the Suns, it’s not a surprise why they would be interested in Tucker if he becomes a free agent. For one, both teams need defensive help, and that’s exactly what the 38-year-old brings. And the two contenders could really use a low-cost addition via the buyout market instead of trading for one since they don’t have that much assets that they would want to offer.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-bucks-heat-still-admire-p-j-tucker-but-theres-a-trade-catch" rel="noopener">Bucks are an interesting destination</a> for Tucker since he played for the team in 2021 and won a championship there. He feels he could still be a key contributor on a contender, and a handful of title hopefuls feel that way.</p><p>Matt Moore of The Action Network <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/nba-trade-intel-dejounte-murray-trae-young-intrigue">identified three contenders</a> who reportedly have an interest in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role">PJ Tucker</a> — and two of those include his former teams. Those are the Philadelphia 76ers, the Phoenix Suns, and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets. However, Moore noted that they wouldn’t necessarily pull off a trade for the veteran. But they will likely only pursue him in the buyout market.</p><p>“The P.J. Tucker situation with the Clippers, where the veteran is out of the rotation, is sticky.” Moore wrote. “He would prefer a new home where he can contribute, but the only teams interested are direct competitors for the NBA title. The Clippers don’t want to play him, but they don’t want to play against him in a big game environment, either. The Nuggets, 76ers, and Suns are among the interested teams, but likely only if he’s bought out.”</p><p>The former Sixers forward was in the deal that sent James Harden to Los Angeles. PJ Tucker was still a valuable contributor for the Sixers last season, where he saw at least 25 minutes a night. However, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue has completely removed him from the rotation in Los Angeles. Tucker appeared in his first 12 games with the Clippers, but has been a healthy DNP over the last 21 games.</p><p>At 38, PJ Tucker likely won’t see a sizable role with whatever team lands him. With a few teams looking to solidify themselves as legit title contenders, the trade market might heat up in the coming weeks. One player whose name has come up in trade rumors is Los Angeles Clippers forward PJ Tucker. PJ Tucker has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">fallen out</a> of the rotation with the Clippers but is reportedly still <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/the-latest-nba-trade-chatter-and" rel="noopener">drawing trade interest</a> from the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks as per NBA insider Marc Stein.</p><p>Stein reports that both the Bucks and Heat, ‘maintain a healthy level of admiration, league sources say, for the Clippers out of favor PJ Tucker.”</p><p>Stein goes on to report that, that doesn’t mean that a PJ Tucker deal by the NBA trade deadline is imminent or that a trade will even happen. The main issues in a potential Tucker trade is his contract and his age. He still has one more year on his deal after this one at around $11 million and he’s among the oldest players in the NBA.</p><p>Tucker has fallen out of the rotation with the Clippers and has not played since Nov. 27. He’s since racked up 13 straight DNPs. Tucker had been a productive role player in the league but his production has fallen off in recent years.</p><p>This season, Tucker had been averaging 1.2 points per game and 2.4 rebounds with splits of 28.6 percent shooting from the field and 27.3 percent shooting from the three point line.
