The 40-year-old has quickly moved up the ranks from a video coordinator with the Atlanta Hawks to an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets, the Los Angeles Lakers, and, most recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ott has been widely praised for his player development throughout his young career, and now will step in as a first-time head coach.</p><p>Bevelrey, who played for the Lakers while Ott was working there, posted an encouraging <a href="https://x.com/patbev21/status/1932566962720096380" rel="noopener">message on social media</a>, reacting to the Suns’ press conference for their new hire.</p><p>“Elite Coach. Watch what he does.”</p><h2><b>Otto will look to build up a franchise that is searching for answers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Devin-Booker-Kevin-Durant.jpg"><figcaption>Jerome Miron-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It goes without saying that the last few years for the Phoenix Suns have not been ideal. The Suns made the aggressive moves to trade for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal with the idea of contending for a championship. Since then, however, Phoenix has only won one playoff series and gone through two head coaches. Now the franchise is coming off a season where it didn’t even make the Play-In and has little room for roster flexibility with its current core.</p><p>Therefore, there’s a strong chance that Ott will be inheriting somewhat of a rebuild even though the Suns still plan on continuing to build around Devin Booker, who is 28 years old. But <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/nba-rumors-brian-windhorst-reveals-key-in-kevin-durant-trade">Kevin Durant looks like</a> he will be on the trading block this summer, with plenty of rumors about which teams will offer up a hefty price for the veteran forward. Bradley Beal, on the other hand, will likely be on this roster for the foreseeable future. The three-time All-Star still has two more years on his contract with a no-trade clause.</p><p>Overall, it’s uncertain what kind of situation Ott is walking into with the Suns. Right now is the time for owner Mat Ishbia to be patient with his first-time head coach. But Ishbia has a history of impatience with head coaches and recently pledged to be even more involved with the front office’s decisions. Phoenix does have two picks in the upcoming NBA Draft via Cleveland and Denver, who could be critical to this franchise’s long-term future.</p><p>While things look a little bleak from a personnel standpoint, hiring Ott is a positive step in the right direction. But the Suns will need to be close to perfect in their decisions this offseason to put together another competitive roster for the 2025-2026 season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Finch shut that idea down quickly with his hilarious response.</p><p>During the pre-game presser, the 55-year-old head coach was asked by media members if he was going to invite Beverley to the locker room for a pep talk. It appears that a potential repeat could be on the horizon for the defensive-minded guard.</p><p>Beverley has been a journeyman throughout his 12-year career, playing for seven teams. The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers were his longest stints, taking up nine years of his time in the league.</p><p>Since leaving the Clippers in 2021, he has donned five different jerseys throughout the last three seasons. Those stints typically end after one year or midway through the season because one of the teams traded him before the trade deadline.</p><p>As of May 2025, Beverley played 666 total games throughout his career in the NBA. But beyond entering the playoffs as the fifth-seed in what will be a very winnable matchup against the Denver Nuggets, the best part of the Clippers’ end to the regular season was that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-kawhi-leonard-truth-bomb-health-heading-playoffs-scary-nba">Kawhi Leonard is going to enter the playoffs with a clean bill of health</a>.</p><p>Leonard played 47 minutes in the Clippers’ regular-season finale and currently looks like the apex version of himself, which is quite the development after the 33-year-old forward saw his playoff run get cut short by knee injuries in 2023 and 2024. And it’s not like Leonard is merely healthy enough to play; he looks like he’s all the way back, moving like the 25-year-old version of himself.</p><p>The Clippers’ championship hopes have always hinged on Leonard’s health. And for the first time in a while, the entire Clippers roster will be healthy heading into the playoffs. And every NBA fan who’s been following the league over the past decade or so knows that there may not be a more terrifying player to face in the playoffs than Leonard.</p><h2><b>Clippers find the right formula to keep Kawhi Leonard healthy</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Clippers-forward-Kawhi-Leonard-2-reacts-after-making-a-three.jpg"><figcaption>Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>What makes James Harden, Ivica Zubac, and Norman Powell such <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-james-harden-surprising-all-nba-praise-zach-lowe">important players for the Clippers</a> was that they were able to hold down the fort as the team gave Kawhi Leonard as much time as he needed to recover from the knee issues that had Team USA ruling him out for the 2024 Paris Olympics.</p><p>Leonard made his return in January and did not play over 30 minutes in a game until one month after returning from injury. He still did not suit up in back-to-backs, and it hasn’t been until recently where Leonard appears to have begun going full-tilt, which means that he might be able to save his best for when it matters the most.</p><p>In 2021, Leonard was overtaxed by the time the second round of the playoffs came along; the Dallas Mavericks pushed the Clippers to the brink, requiring herculean efforts from Leonard. In 2023, the Clippers had Leonard playing back-to-backs just to make the playoffs, and his body gave out after Game 2 of the first round of the playoffs. And then last year, Leonard peaked early and had knee issues nearly a month before the playoffs, and then he was clearly rushed back from injury as he struggled in two games against the Mavs.</p><p>But this time around, the Clippers have managed to keep Leonard fresh and ready to go for their series against the Nuggets. And with Leonard healthy, many have the Clippers as a dark-horse contender, and as long as The Klaw is healthy, no one should ever doubt their ability to make a deep playoff run.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
