Nevertheless, they will have two, albeit hobbled, core players <a href="https://x.com/KCJHoop/status/1980750671704912383" rel="noopener">available in time</a> for their season opener against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, per K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network.</p><p>Earlier on Tuesday, Johnson reported that the statuses of Dosunmu and Williams <a href="https://x.com/KCJHoop/status/1980688227460657650" rel="noopener">weren’t clear</a> due to them battling injuries sustained during the preseason. However, both went through practice.</p><p>Williams is battling a groin injury, and Dosunmu is nursing a sore thumb. Dosunmu said to Johnson that he had hurt his thumb during the Bulls’ preseason game against the Denver Nuggets.</p><p>Although Dosunmu <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-editorials/bulls-ayo-dosunmu-preseason-excellence-comeback-season">had a pretty solid preseason</a> based on his numbers. He averaged 16.3 points per game and shot 59.4% from the field. Also, he scored 22 points against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 12 in which the Bulls lost 127-121.</p><p>As for Williams, he is coming off an <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/chicago-bulls/bulls-news-patrick-williams-ankle-injury-training-camp">ankle injury sustained during training camp</a>. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/chicago-bulls/bulls-news-chicago-patrick-williams-injury-update">Williams was cleared to practice</a> shortly thereafter. Altogether, he averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and shot 50% from the field.</p><p>Against the Bucks, he scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out five assists. Then, Williams scored 11 points and handed out three assists in the Bulls’ 119-112 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 9.</p><h2><b>Dosunmu and Williams’ recent battles with injuries </b></h2><p>Last season, Dosunmu sustained a shoulder injury that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/chicago-bulls/bulls-news-ayo-dosunmu-season-ending-shoulder-surgery">required surgery</a>. As a result, he missed 36 games in total. In the end, Dosunmu averaged 12.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game and played in 46 games.</p><p>In 2024, Williams suffered a foot injury and later <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/chicago-bulls/bulls-patrick-williams-to-undergo-season-ending-foot-surgery">had to undergo surgery himself</a>. His recent ankle injury brought up concerns that he had severely reinjured his foot. Before that, he had averaged 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game across 63 games. </p><p>Furthermore, Williams is a vital part of the Bulls’ defense. Altogether, he is versatile in his role, guarding all positions on the floor. At the same time, his size and strength play a key role. Nevertheless, his history of injuries (foot, knee, and wrist) has led to periods of inconsistency. That, along with needing to improve his ability to anticipate screens, protect the rim, and grab defensive boards. </p><p>But all in all, Williams is still a solid player. </p><h2><b>Patrick Williams’ job with the Bulls is on the line. </b></h2><p>Another aspect of why Williams’ return is beneficial is that he is trying to maintain his position. Last year, Williams finished the year averaging 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while playing in 63 games. Chicago is currently in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, and they have made it clear that they are trying to make a run to the postseason despite trading away their best player, Zach LaVine. The last thing they need right now is injury trouble, but that’s exactly what they have here with Patrick Williams.</p><p>The Bulls limped into the NBA All-Star break as they lost eight of their final 11 games, and this injury news is not a good start to the final stretch of the season. To make matters even worse for the Bulls, Patrick Williams went down with a knee injury and left the game.</p><p>Patrick Williams banged knees with a player on the Pistons, and that is when the injury happened. Fortunately, his X-Rays came back fine and it doesn’t sound like this is going <a href="https://x.com/KCJHoop/status/1889885413789278655" rel="noopener">to be anything serious</a>.</p><p>“Williams said he hit knees and aggravated a tendon but X-rays checked out fine and he’s not concerned about this being long-term issue,” K.C. Johnson said in a post.</p><p>This is important for the Bulls as the last thing that they need right now is injury trouble. With the Bulls getting the next week off because of the NBA All-Star break, Williams should easily be able to make a quick recovery.</p><p>Williams has struggled to meet expectations during his career with the Bulls, but he should get all the opportunities in the world to take some strides during the final stretch of the season. The Bulls have made it clear that they want to explore every facet of their lineup, and Williams is definitely somebody that they want to get going. Instead, Williams has gone backward and is currently suffering through the worst season of his career. Saturday night only brought more disappointment, with Williams scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting in an ugly 109-97 loss to a shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers team.</p><p>Bulls head coach Billy Donovan has tried to show support for Williams by keeping him in the starting lineup despite his struggles, <a href="https://x.com/KCJHoop/status/1883356203860070765" rel="noopener">but the coach was blunt after Saturday’s game</a>.</p><p>“I think he’s trying to be aggressive. He just hasn’t converted well,” Donovan said, per CHSN’s K.C. Johnson.</p><p>“Hasn’t converted well” is putting it lightly. Williams is shooting a career-worst 37.0% overall and 35.5% from 3-point range. The 23-year-old is shooting a truly appalling 38.6% on 2-pointers this season and has been <a href="https://x.com/chisportsross/status/1883341850863673628" rel="noopener">one of the worst finishers in the NBA</a>, infamously missing a number of dunks.</p><p>Williams’ brutal season has Bulls fans frustrated with both the player and the coach. The replies to Johnson’s post show fans calling for both <a href="https://x.com/geovanibonfilio/status/1883358503064293638" rel="noopener">Williams’ benching</a> and <a href="https://x.com/ZoharMinkovich/status/1883356723576279307" rel="noopener">Donovan’s firing</a>. While Donovan certainly deserves some blame for Williams’ lack of development, it’s not the coach’s fault that his player all of a sudden is bricking a bunch of dunks and layups and can’t effectively dribble.</p><h2><b>Patrick Williams remains defiant</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Williams-warms-up.jpg"><figcaption>David Banks-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>While Patrick Williams has been a disaster this season, he’s still trying to put on a confident face. When asked about his confidence level after Saturday’s loss, Williams claimed “I got game” and added even this: “I know what I’ve done in this league. My teammates know. My coaches know. That’s why they’re so on me. Nobody wants it more than me. I guarantee you that. If I had answers, it would be fixed already. All I know is work. That’s what got me here. Work through it.”</p><p>Williams can’t really say anything else, but this is going to fall on deaf ears as fans watch the same thing over and over. The Bulls forward has always shown flashes in his career, but he has never put it all together to take that big step forward. His inconsistency from game to game has actually made him quite consistent when it comes to his <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/willipa01.html" rel="noopener">box score stats over a full season</a>.</p><p>Injuries haven’t helped matters either, but the excuses are running out with rookie Matas Buzelis waiting in the wings. The Bulls have seen solid production out of veterans like Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic, but overall, the team is currently on a trajectory for yet another appearance in the play-in tournament this spring.</p><p>One of the more frustrating players for the Bulls this season has been Patrick Williams, a former lottery pick who supposedly fits the archetype of versatile wings that every team is currently looking for but hasn’t provided much production for Chicago this year.</p><p>Recently, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times <a href="https://x.com/JCowleyHoops/status/1880744900259701040" rel="noopener">shed some light</a> on why the Williams experiment could soon be coming to an end.</p><p>“Add Patrick Williams to the growing list of the Bulls trade block, as a source said the front office feels he now needs a change of scenery,” reported Cowley on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>However, things may not exactly go seamlessly.</p><p>“The problem – Too little, too late once again,” reported Cowley, alluding to the fact that the Bulls likely could have gotten more for Williams if they had traded him earlier–and before they signed him to one of the most unfortunate contracts in the current NBA landscape.</p><h2><b>Another season mired in mediocrity</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Williams-warms-up.jpg"><figcaption>David Banks-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Bulls appeared to embrace a youth movement this past offseason by letting DeMar DeRozan depart for the Sacramento Kings and trading Alex Caruso for the much younger Josh Giddey.</p><p>The team also drafted Matas Buzelis in the first round this past June, giving them a solid foundation of young players who could theoretically grow into a young core.</p><p>However, the ability of those younger players to expand their games is currently being limited by the bizarre mix of veteran talent that the Bulls currently have on their roster, including most notably Lavine and Vucevic, neither of whom is good enough to carry a team to the playoffs but who do volume score enough to ensure that they aren’t bottom feeders.</p><p>The Bulls currently sit in tenth place in the Eastern Conference, which would put them in position to play in the 9 vs 10 play-in game for a third consecutive year.</p><p>Not exactly what fans had in mind for this season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Now, here we are five years later, and things still <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-patrick-williams-rips-chicago-over-effort-level-in-blowout-loss-to-pacers">haven’t panned out for Williams</a>. He is in his fifth season with the Bulls, and he is still trying to fully find his footing in the league.</p><p>Expectations were high for Patrick Williams as soon as he stepped foot in Chicago. That’s obviously what comes with being a top-five draft pick. Williams has yet to meet those expectations, and <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/01/16/chicago-bulls-patrick-williams-breaking-point/" rel="noopener">it’s been hard for him</a>.</p><p>“It’s obviously a challenge,” Williams said, according to an article from <i>The Chicago Tribune</i>. “I never want to be bad at anything on the court. I always want to try to make the right play. I work really hard at it. I don’t have one reason that I can give you for any of it.”</p><p>When Williams played at Florida State in college, he was a star. He didn’t have to think about a lot of these things and there were certain things that he didn’t need to work on because it came easy to him. Things haven’t been the same since he got to the league, and Williams might have to change his routine if he wants to get that kind of groove back.</p><p>“This stuff used to sort of just come naturally,” Williams said. “I’ve never really worked on it until now. I’ve always been a good finisher at the rim. Dunks are really not something people work on — but maybe it has to be for the next couple weeks until I get comfortable again.”</p><p>Since Williams joined the Bulls, he has averaged double figures in just two out of his five seasons. He averaged 10.2 PPG during the 2022-23 season and 10.0 PPG the following season as well.</p><p>So far this year, Patrick Williams is averaging 9.4 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 2.2 APG. He wants to reach that potential that he knows he has, and he knows there only way to achieve that: Work.</p><p>“You don’t know what you’re good at until you actually start doing it,” Williams said. “That’s part of the game. I love it. I hate it at the same time. Despite trading away Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan during the offseason, the Bulls are still hovering right around the .500 mark, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-zach-lavine-drops-defiant-tanking-stance-after-upset-win-vs-celtics">Zach LaVine notably said</a> once that as long as he’s in the Windy City, there will be no deliberate losing. However, the Bulls may as well have thrown the game on purpose on Wednesday as they suffered a 129-113 loss against the Indiana Pacers.</p><p>The Bulls came out of the gates lethargic, and for a team facing opposition that’s currently in the middle of a winning streak (Pacers had won three straight prior to tonight’s contest), this is simply inexcusable. The effort level that they showed up with drew the ire of starting power forward Patrick Williams, <a href="https://twitter.com/CHSN_Bulls/status/1877205266619420746" rel="noopener">calling out the entire team</a> following the game.</p><p>“I think we just got to be better as a team. We know that. [We were] definitely not [ready from the jump]. And that’s on us. That’s us just being professional. That’s our job to show up and play. And we didn’t do that tonight, for the whole night. You know what I mean? It’s the best league in the world. You can’t just show up and expect to win. He was sidelined for about a month before the team realized he would need season-ending surgery. Williams spent the offseason working to be able to get back for this season, but he is now out again due to inflammation in that left foot that he had surgery on.</p><p>Things seemed to be going well for Patrick Williams this season until he appeared on the injury report on Monday. According to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-billy-donovan-brutally-honest-issue-that-could-doom-chicago">Bulls head coach Billy Donovan</a>, that’s when the pain seemed to start, and it <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/11/20/chicago-bulls-milwaukee-bucks-takeaways-2/" rel="noopener">sounds like it quickly got worse</a>.</p><p>“Obviously, he went on the injury report as questionable with the foot (Monday), and then I think in the game he mentioned that he was feeling it more at halftime, and after the game is when he really started to feel some … I don’t want to say significant pain but a lot more pain than he was feeling beforehand,” Billy Donovan said Wednesday, according to a report from <i>The Chicago Tribune.</i> “When it felt like the pain was escalating, we wanted to get the imaging done just to see what’s going on. He’s got inflammation around that area, they want to figure out why, but it’s going to be at least a week or so to let that calm down and then there’s got to be a plan going forward of how to handle it.”</p><p>Donovan noted there that it will be at least a week before Williams can return, but there has been a lot of speculation that it might end up being longer than that.</p><p>The Bulls are hoping to see Williams make progress within the next week and then they should have a better idea of how serious this is.</p><p>“(The next week) will hopefully be when we start to see progress from him,” Donovan said. “I do think he’ll do more ball-handling, do more shooting, but for him to be really ramped up where we can see, it’s probably going to be (another week).”</p><p>So far this season, Patrick Williams has played in 15 games and he is averaging 9.9 PPG. He is also averaging 2.3 APG and 5.0 RPG.</p><p>In the next week, the Bulls have four games that Williams will likely miss as they are taking on the Atlanta Hawks (NBA Cup), Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards (NBA Cup) and the Orlando Magic. But there could be some cause for concern following the game. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-patrick-williams-suffers-injury-setback-after-signing-90-million-contract">Bulls forward Patrick Williams</a> suffered an apparent ankle injury during the preseason game <a href="https://x.com/chicagobulls/status/1847452265264590979?t=vnLDgTn4yNZudl1UzUUjJA" rel="noopener">and was ruled out</a>, the team announced.</p><p>There was no immediate update, only that he was going to be sidelined for the rest of the game. Depending on the severity of the injury, it could be a major blow for the Bulls and Patrick Williams.</p><p>Williams was set to hit restricted free agency this past offseason, but he and the team quickly agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract.</p><p>Last season, Williams was hampered by a foot injury that ended up requiring surgery. He was sidelined in late January and was not able to return to the court as he rehabbed from surgery. Although he was expected to be ready in time for training camp, he suffered some discomfort in his foot that forced him to be out for the beginning of training camp.</p><p>He was able to play in preseason, although he did put up a few underwhelming performances. He was on his way to his performance in the preseason so far against the Cavs, finishing with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes before leaving the game.</p><p>Coming into the 2024-25 season, Williams is expected to be the Bulls’ starter at power forward. He appeared in 43 games last season, including 30 starts, at a little over 27 minutes per game. He averaged 10.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists with splits of 44.3 percent shooting from the field, 39.9 percent shooting from the three-point line and 78.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.</p><p>Judging by the offseason contract, the Bulls organization clearly believes in Williams and sees him as being a part of the team’s future. Nevertheless, the Chicago Bulls remain high on Williams and see him as a long-term piece amid the franchise’s pivot to a rebuild, signing him to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-chicagos-90-million-patrick-williams-plan-revealed">a five-year, $90 million deal</a> with the expectation that he’ll be fully healthy by the time the 2024-25 season rolls around.</p><p>However, now that training camp is nearly upon us, Williams has suffered a setback in his injury recovery that will be a point of concern among members of the Bulls franchise. Per Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic, Williams <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5786185/2024/09/23/zach-lavine-lonzo-ball-bulls-nba/" rel="noopener">experienced discomfort</a> in his foot which required “additional rest” in recent weeks amid the team’s minicamp in Miami.</p><p>The good news is that the concern surrounding Williams is more of a short-term one, as the Bulls are hoping that the additional rest would do the 23-year-old forward a world of good. But there is still good reason to be worried over Williams’ long-term health.</p><p>He last played for the Bulls in January, and he said back in July that he had been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-patrick-williams-drops-truth-on-injury-recovery-after-90-million-extension">progressing well in his recovery</a> (“the bone had healed and he was running and jumping without pain or swelling”, wrote Mayberry). It’s not a good sign whatsoever that two months later and there is once again lingering uncertainty surrounding the well-being of his foot.</p><p>Drafted with the fourth overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, it’s safe to say that Williams is yet to live up to his draft position. This is not to say that he is a bust, as he has been a solid, if unspectacular, two-way piece for the Bulls over the past four seasons.</p><p>But for Williams’ career to truly take off, he will need a clean bill of health. It remains to be seen if he could step up for the Bulls in the first year of a true rebuild, as availability is the best ability.</p><h2><b>Breakout opportunity is there for Patrick Williams in a Bulls rebuild</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Bulls__Patrick_Williams_dribbles_the_basketball.webp"></figure><p>For the past four seasons, Patrick Williams mostly faded into the background for the Bulls. The Bulls did not need him to be a go-to-guy, nor did he ever show that he was ready to take on a bigger offensive role. Williams seemed to be stuck in a chicken-or-egg situation. Did he not develop quickly because of his place in the team’s offensive hierarchy? Or did he not seize a bigger role due to him not developing quickly enough?</p><p>It’s difficult to pinpoint what Williams does best. He doesn’t have the most advanced handles, nor does he shoot the ball from deep at such a high level of efficiency and volume. Williams has shown that he can be very disruptive defensively and he has good size and length for a wing player, but he has yet to put his tools together on a consistent basis.</p><p>But now that DeMar DeRozan is gone and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-zach-lavine-vow-chicago-rumored-rift-trade-talks">Zach LaVine seems to be on his way out</a> of the team, the opportunity is there for Williams to break out, provided, of course, that he is healthy for next season. He needs to find a new level of motor, however, to make things work. There are times when he fades to the background often; he needs to be more proactive in making things happen, as the Bulls will need one of their young players to pop if they were to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/why-the-chicago-bulls-waited-so-long-to-rebuild-roster">build a contending team</a> in the not-so-distant future.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Bulls traded veteran defensive guard Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey, drafted 19-year-old G-League <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-2024-nba-draft-grade-for-matas-buzelis">Ignite prospect Matas Buzelis</a>, and completed a sign-and-trade for DeMar DeRozan to join the Sacramento Kings. One young Bulls forward still has plenty left to contribute amid his team’s shift. Patrick Williams spoke on his injury recovery after signing a lucrative contract extension during the offseason.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-patrick-williams-to-undergo-season-ending-foot-surgery">Williams sustained a stress fracture</a> in his left foot in February of 2023, which required season-ending surgery. He has been rehabbing ever since, and in late June, it was reported that Williams expected to sign a five-year deal worth $90 million. Roughly two weeks later, the 22-year-old forward provided a positive update on his injury recovery.</p><p>“<a href="https://x.com/DarnellMayberry/status/1812239605921701940" rel="noopener">I’m pretty good</a>. I’m running and jumping now. No pain. No swelling. So it’s just a matter of getting my legs back under me,” Williams said when asked how he is physically, per Darnell Mayberry.</p><p>It is great to hear that Williams is on a promising path to recovery. He looks to be a vital piece of the Bulls’ short and long-term two-way attack.</p><p>Chicago drafted Patrick Williams with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 Draft. The Florida State product had a promising rookie year. He averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and shot 39.1 percent on his three-pointers. Williams only played 17 games the following season due to injury struggles, but he returned strong during the 2022-23 season.</p><p>Williams averaged a career-high 10.2 points and shot 41.5 percent from range. The 6-foot-8 forward achieved similar production through his first 48 games with the Bulls in 2023-24 before his foot injury.</p><p>If he remains injury-free, Chicago expects Patrick Williams to make a notable improvement in 2023-24 and beyond.</p><h2><b>Bulls prepare for exciting 2023-24 season with young squad</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Bulls__Patrick_Williams_dribbles_the_basketball.webp"><figcaption>Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>Chicago’s 2024-25 squad looks to be filled with youth, although the team may not have as much star power as it did its the previous three seasons. DeRozan was one of the most reliable scorers on the roster, averaging over 24.0 points or greater in each of his seasons in Chicago.</p><p>With DeRozan gone and Zach Lavine rumored to be on the move, the Bulls will look for production from others. Coby White is a prime candidate to lead Chicago’s offensive attack. The North Carolina product had a career year in 2023-24, amassing averages of 19.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game.</p><p>The Bulls have another intriguing talent joining their roster for the 2024 season: Matas Buzelis.</p><p>Buzelis, a native of the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale, Illinois, was ESPN’s fifth-ranked prospect in the Class of 2023. He elected to play for the NBA’s G League Ignite team, where he averaged 14.3 points and 2.1 blocks. His three-point shooting took a notable dip when he transitioned to the Ignite. He shot just 26 percent from range in 2023-24 compared to his 43 percent mark in high school. It should be remembered that Williams is only 22 years old, and with plenty of room to grow, his contract could end up being a bargain if he makes a significant leap from his current level.</p><p>Williams has career averages of 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. However, he has shown at times what kind of player he could be when given a more prominent role on offense. In a December game against the Miami Heat during the 2023-24 season, Williams <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202312160MIA.html" rel="noopener">shot 4-of-5 from deep</a> and scored 25 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists, albeit in a 118-116 losing effort.</p><p>Just a couple of weeks after that Bulls game, Williams had a starring role for Chicago once again after he top-scored for the team against the Indiana Pacers. He tallied 22 points on top of five rebounds, three assists and two steals, even though the team lost again 120-104.</p><p>Considering that Williams has never been one of the top options for the Bulls on offense, it’s difficult for him to really make huge strides with the team. But if the franchise continues on its current path and rebuild, Williams will have a chance to become one of the team’s go-to options. With rising star Coby White and promising guard Ayo Dosunmu already in toe, as well as 2024 <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-2024-nba-draft-grade-for-matas-buzelis">NBA Draft pick Matas Buzelis</a>, Chicago actually has quite the interesting core that could be lethal when developed properly.</p><p>Now, as free agency begins, that means the Bulls will also have to decide on what they will do with their two star players in Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.</p><p><a href="https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/nba/chicago-bulls/bulls-selection-of-matas-buzelis-continues-youth-movement/572333/" rel="noopener">Recent reports suggest</a> that DeRozan could be on his way out of Windy City, per KC Johnson of NBC Sports. DeRozan is an unrestricted free agent, so he could simply walk away from the team. There’s also the option of a sign-and-trade for him, but at the end of the day, he’s expected to leave.</p><p>“… The Bulls are open for business. And with growing buzz that DeMar DeRozan will be elsewhere next season, either via a sign-or-trade or simply walking in unrestricted free agency, the buzzword is no longer competitiveness,” Johnson explained.</p><p>LaVine’s situation is a bit trickier since he’s under contract until 2026-27. Not to mention that there’s a lot of money tied to him, with his deal paying him an average of $45 million over the next three years. Having said that, the Bulls might find it hard to move him at all.</p><p>“Chicago <a href="https://x.com/SiriusXMNBA/status/1807064510710055223" rel="noopener">has been trying to move</a> Zach LaVine forever. They can’t find any takers just to get off his contract. I don’t even think if they attached a first round pick teams would take him. So that impacts DeMar DeRozan, because you can’t sign DeRozan. Because you can’t sign DeRozan and keep LaVine, now you go into the luxury tax,” ESPN’s Bobby Marks said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.</p><p>It will certainly be quite the challenging offseason for the Bulls considering the situation they are in with DeRozan and  LaVine. They would probably want to get something in return for DeRozan instead of letting him just walk away. That is now even more important since it looks like they will have to sacrifice some more assets to move LaVine’s  albatross of a contract.</p><p>Having said all that, expect the Bulls to be quite busy in the next couple of weeks.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
