Featured on a white base, the shoe sports colorful panels throughout each taking a turn with a different color. No two panels are the same as the shoes are mismatched right and left, based on a white midsole and rubber outsoles. The shoes are done in glossy patent leather, complete with Tucker’s #17 on the back heel while “BOOK” graces the tongue tag in multi-color font.</p><p>Fans shouldn’t hold their breath for these to see a public release, but crazier things have happened in PJ Tucker’s long line of unpredictable sneaker moves. Well, you've come to the right place.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>When <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/knicks-news-new-york-pj-tucker-contract">PJ Tucker officially joined the New York Knicks</a> on a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/knicks-rumors-new-yorks-plans-for-p-j-tucker-after-contract-expires">series of 10-day deals</a> after successfully negotiating his way out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, fans knew Tom Thibodeau’s squad would have to make a decision on his future one way or another.</p><p>Would the Knicks decide to keep Tucker for the remainder of the season? Or would they allow him to leave for greener pastures, focusing on landing another guard to bolster their depth at the position?</p><p>Well, on Monday, fans got their answer, with Shams Charania of ESPN reporting that the Knicks were locking up the <a href="https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1906830549282623833" rel="noopener">veteran forward on a two-year contract</a>.</p><p>“Free agent PJ Tucker plans to sign with the New York Knicks on a 10-day contract, sources tell ESPN. The 14-year NBA veteran held discussions with multiple teams over the last week. Tucker, a 2021 NBA champion with the Bucks, gives the Knicks an enforcer and frontcourt depth,” Charania wrote.</p><p>“After two 10-day contracts, the New York Knicks are planning to sign veteran forward PJ Tucker to a two-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Tucker will return to the Knicks through the season and playoffs, with a team option for 2025-26.”</p><p>So far this season, Tucker really hasn’t been afforded a chance to show what he can do with the Knicks, as he’s played <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/tuckepj01.html" rel="noopener">exactly two minutes for the team</a> with no stats to his name. Because Thibodeau is notorious for his notoriously short benches and commitment to playing his starters into the ground, Tucker has been more of a depth piece, with the potential to slot in as a contributor at either of the forward spots and even at center if someone needs a break.</p><p>Will that happen? Will Thibs actually give a player like Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, or OG Anunoby a well-deserved break? Or will Tucker be more of a break-in-case-of-emergency player who only really sees action if the Knicks suffer a frontcourt injury? While only time will tell, having Tucker as a deep-bench reserve really has no downside this season, as in a pinch, the journeyman veteran can provide some much-needed defense as a do-it-all frontcourt reserve.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Tucker is not giving up on his NBA career despite his lack of playing time in 2024-25. Less than one month after the veteran forward <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/heat-news-miami-flips-pj-tucker-in-trade-for-raptors-guard">re-joined the Toronto Raptors</a> at the trade deadline, the team officially cut him from its roster.</p><p>While the move was expected for a while, Toronto <a href="https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1895550545164898395" rel="noopener">made it official</a> on Friday, Shams Charania reported. The move now cuts the Raptors’ roster down to 16 players, including two-way players Ulrich Chomche and A.J. Lawson. That does not include third-year guard Jared Rhoden, who is currently on a 10-day contract.</p><p>Tucker has not played a game since May 2024 in the Los Angeles Clippers’ opening-round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks. His brief, fugazi period with the Raptors was his third stint with the team. Tucker began his career with Toronto in 2006 and returned to the team for one season in 2016-2017.</p><p>The Raptors re-acquired Tucker at the deadline from the Miami Heat, who received him as a part of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/warriors-news-jimmy-butler-heat-trade">Jimmy Butler-Andrew Wiggins blockbuster trade</a>. Toronto sent defensive stalwart Davion Mitchell to Miami in exchange for Tucker and a second-round pick.</p><p>Tucker began the year with the Clippers, where he finished the 2023-2024 year, but decided to remain away from the team before the season began. At the time of Tucker’s release, Toronto is staring at an 18-41 record and is all but eliminated from the 2025 playoffs.</p><p>Since the trade deadline, the Raptors signed Brandon Ingram — whom they also acquired via trade — to a three-year extension. They have also continued to bounce Rhoden, JaKobe Walter, Jonathan Mogbo, Jamison Battle and Orlando Robinson to and from their G-League affiliate, the 905 Raptors.</p><p>In addition to Mitchell, the Raptors also parted ways with Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown at the deadline. Olynyk and Brown were sent to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Ingram, along with a first and second-round pick.</p><p>Amid the flurry of changes, Toronto is just 3-8 in February with one game remaining. Since their five-game win streak late in January, the Raptors have spiraled downhill.</p><p>Despite the overall negativity, the Raptors’ 2025 trade deadline transactions turn them into potential Eastern Conference threats in 2025-2026. This move seems to get them under that first apron as Mitchell is set to become a restricted free agent this summer as he’s averaging 6.3 points, 4.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from deep.</p><p>The Raptors were originally involved in the trade that sent Butler to Golden State as they were set to get Kyle Anderson, but that portion of the trade fell through per Charania. With Anderson still on the roster, Toronto now gets the aforementioned return of Tucker, a second-round pick, and cash.</p><p>This trade for Mitchell will be a part of the ultimate Butler deal, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald, <a href="https://x.com/Anthony_Chiang/status/1887542284222189853" rel="noopener">making the trade contain five teams</a>. The complexity of a handful of teams was expected since some teams were limited financially.</p><h2><b>What the Heat are getting with Davion Mitchell</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Davion-Mitchell-on-Jan.-31-2025.jpg"><figcaption>Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Looking at Mitchell, barring that he is not dealt, he has a chance to prove his worth in Miami as there is no doubt that talent is within the 26-year-old. He was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft coming out of Bayor, selected originally by the Sacramento Kings.</p><p>Mitchell is currently close to a <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/74116/davion-mitchell#:~:text=Davion%20Mitchell%20signed%20a%204,average%20annual%20salary%20of%20%245%2C237%2C879." rel="noopener">$6.5 million cap hit</a>, according to Spotrac.com, where his rookie contract with the Sacramento Kings was a four-year deal worth close to $21 million.</p><p>In June of 2024, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/kings-news-davion-mitchell-traded-raptors-3-player-deal">Mitchell was traded to the Raptors</a> where he would end up playing 44 games, starting in 22, for the team before being dealt to Miami. He has not averaged double-digit points since his rookie season when he was at 11.5, so his role with Miami remains to be seen since such guards on the bench include Terry Rozier, Alec Burks, and others.</p><p>With mere hours left until the trade deadline, one has to wonder if Miami is done making moves, whether they are big in going after Kevin Durant in the Phoenix Suns since they were connected, or a small deal creating more room financially. Above all, they had one goal before Feb. 6 and that was to start anew without Butler in the locker room as it was clear the team thought it was a distraction to the players in the locker room.</p><p>At any rate, the Heat is 25-24 which puts them sixth in the Eastern Conference as they have one more game left on the road trip, facing the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. They come back home with a new look which besides Mitchell, features former Golden State Warriors star Andrew Wiggins on Monday when they take on the Boston Celtics at the Kaseya Center.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

In addition to that, the Clippers have been without veteran forward PJ Tucker who is <a href="https://x.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/1849571373104218523" rel="noopener">reportedly seeking an early season trade</a> as per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.</p><p>Haynes reports that, “Los Angeles Clippers granted permission for PJ Tucker’s agent Andre Buck to speak with other teams to facilitate working on a trade. Both sides continue to work together while the veteran remains away from the team waiting for an opportunity to contribute to winning.”</p><p>The Clippers acquired PJ Tucker in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-76ers-asked-clippers-paul-george-james-harden-trade-talks">a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers</a> last season that involved James Harden coming to Los Angeles. Tucker never really found a role with the team and was outside of the rotation for most of the season. He made it known several times last year that he was unhappy with the situation.</p><p>The saga included an incident right before the All-Star break when he was sent home from the team as they were on the road. Tucker did not join the Clippers for training camp or preseason and he continues to be away from the team.</p><h2><b>PJ Tucker’s career winds down<br></b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/PJ-Tucker-plays-defense-against-Luka-Doncic.jpg"><figcaption>Jerome Miron-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>For the majority of his career, PJ Tucker was considered one of the best role players in the NBA. He was the epitome of a 3&amp;D player. But his overall production has waned in recent years and is a big reason why his role with the Clippers has not been significant.</p><p>Tucker was originally drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He only played a single season with the Raptors before he left the NBA and played overseas for five seasons. He returned to the league during the 2012-13 season with the Phoenix Suns.</p><p>Tucker emerged as one of the better perimeter defenders in the league. A tough and fiery player with good instincts, he made up for being a bit of an undersized forward with his tenacity.</p><p>He holds career averages of 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds. 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals with splits of 42.5 percent shooting from the field, 36.6 percent shooting from the three-point line and 75 percent shooting from the free-throw line.</p><p>In addition to the Clippers, Raptors, Suns and 76ers, Tucker has also had stints with the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat. We will continue working with PJ and his representative to find the best situation for him moving forward.”</p><p>Tucker was traded to the Clippers last season with James Harden, and he played some games with the team, but after a while, he fell out of the rotation. In 28 games for the Clippers, Tucker averaged 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds. Tucker picked up his $11.5 million player option for the season with hopes that maybe he and the Clippers can find a trade partner for him.</p><h2>PJ Tucker talks about possible retirement</h2><p>Earlier in the offseason, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-gets-real-possible-retirement">PJ Tucker talked about retiring</a> and when he’d know it’s time to hang up his jersey.</p><p>“Honestly, I don’t know. I am going to let my body tell me. I do my best to be healthy pretty much my entire career, and I still feel pretty good. You know, I’m just like letting it play out. Once my body tells me, I’m thinking that I’ll do it.</p><p>“A lot of the guys that I used to play with retired too early and tried to make a comeback. I don’t want to be one of those guys. Now, another adjective could fit his description well and that’s being a veteran since he joined Tyronn Lue’s Los Angeles Clippers. After years of teaming up with guys like James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and the like, is his retirement looming?</p><p>The Clippers are the home to the fourth-oldest player in the league. Only LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Taj Gibson <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-takes-shot-at-ty-lue-la-shock-start-amid-lack-of-playing-time">are older than PJ Tucker.</a> Obviously, a big lingering question is always going to be about his retirement. While it is looming, he posits that he can still give his all while playing for Tyronn Lue and alongside Kawhi Leonard. He outlined this desire in <a href="https://x.com/SiriusXMNBA/status/1823073459171442988" rel="noopener">his latest radio appearance</a> on SiriusXM NBA.</p><p>“Honestly, I don’t know. I am going to let my body tell me. I do my best to be healthy pretty much my entire career and I still feel pretty good. You know, I’m just like letting it play out. Once my body tells me, I’m thinking that I’ll do it. A lot of the guys that I used to play with retired too early and tried to make a comeback. I don’t want to be one of those guys. Once I’m done and hang it up, I want to be done. He also knocked down 37.1% of his three-pointers. All of those efforts, despite his age, helped stretch the floor for Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden.</p><p>But, his desire did not match with what happened which is why he ended up playing for Tyronn Lue. If Tucker’s heart was to be followed, he would have retired with the Miami Heat.</p><p>“Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. I expressed that I didn’t want to leave. But with their situation and their not wanting to be hard-capped, I knew it was going to be a possibility. My family is still there. So I obviously wanted to be there, but it didn’t work out. I thought I was going to retire in Miami. But I don’t fault them at all. On numerous occasions, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pj-tucker-heat-reunion-but-catch" rel="noopener">Tucker has publicly</a> called out the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-tyronn-lue-calls-out-las-extreme-schedule-ahead-bucks-showdown" rel="noopener">Clippers’ coaching staff</a>–led by Ty Lue–for his lack of playing time, and on Sunday afternoon, his wish was granted, as he was inserted into the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Bucks.</p><p>And yet, somehow, Tucker is still (subtly) complaining.</p><p>“Tough? Finding out the morning of that you are going to start and play minutes for the first time in five months in the NBA, I don’t know, there’s got to be a better word than tough,” said Tucker, when asked if it was tough to find a rhythm after being out of the lineup for so long, per Janis Carr of the Orange County Register on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter.</p><p>At 36 years old, <a href="https://twitter.com/janiscarr/status/1766958209880006916" rel="noopener">it’s not clear exactly</a> what skillset PJ Tucker has to offer at this point that his coaches are so cruelly denying from the world. It’s true that Tucker has played a key role on several contending teams in recent years, including the 2021 champion Milwaukee Bucks and the 2022 Miami Heat.</p><p>However, his shooting percentages have dipped over the last year, and his ability to keep up with the game’s greatest players as a defender has understandably declined due to his age.</p><p>On Sunday, Tucker dropped seven points, six rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes of action.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Clippers were unable to find a trade that they liked involving the veteran, ultimately leading to his current status in Los Angeles.</p><p>While there was some speculation about Tucker possibly reaching a buyout agreement with the Clippers, that does not appear to be an option at this time. Recently, Tucker spoke with ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly about his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-inside-pj-tuckers-frustrations-and-future-with-clippers" rel="noopener">frustrations with the organization</a>, clearly stating that he had no intentions of a buyout.</p><p>“Nah,” Tucker said. “That’s not on the table.”</p><p>Unlike James Harden, who had requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in the season, Tucker claimed that he never requested a trade from the Sixers. As a result, he believes that the way the Clippers are handling his situation is wrong.</p><p>“I didn’t ask to be here,” Tucker told Azarly. “I didn’t ask for and I didn’t demand a trade to be here.”</p><p>On Wednesday, it was reported that the Clippers had <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-stepping-away-reset-mindset-months-frustration" rel="noopener">sent Tucker and Bones Hyland home</a> ahead of their road game against the Golden State Warriors and the All-Star break. No clear reason was given for their departure from the team, but both players were involved in trade rumors leading up to last week’s deadline.</p><p>With a week to clear his mind, Tucker is expected to return to the team following the All-Star break. Tucker and Hyland are both expected to join the Clippers following the All-Star break, which concludes with the team’s expected first official practice on Wednesday, February 21st.</p><p>This is just another development in what’s been a frustrating season for 38-year old PJ Tucker.</p><p>Back in December, Tucker expressed his frustrations to ClutchPoints about not playing or being in the rotation.</p><p>“I feel like I still got a lot to contribute to a team to be able to win, whether that’s here or somewhere else,” <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-pj-tucker-breaks-silence-on-trade-rumors-frustrations-with-role" rel="noopener">PJ Tucker told ClutchPoints</a> in an exclusive interview back in December. “I know myself, my worth. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring. And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that.”</p><p>With about two months left before the NBA trade deadline, the 13-year NBA veteran was hopeful to find a new home — preferably a contender where he could get legitimate rotation minutes while competing for an NBA championship. That didn’t materialize at the deadline, which sparked even more frustration for Tucker.</p><p>“Coming here, you try to figure out the best way possible to be able to do what you do. But, you know, like I said, sometimes you see it and it ain’t there. Sometimes you see it, but the team doesn’t see it the way you see it.”</p><p>So, what does the future hold for PJ Tucker?</p><p>For starters, a buyout is not something under consideration for Tucker. The veteran is owed a little over $11 million for this 2023-24 season, as well as an $11.5 million player option for the 2024-25 season</p><p>“Nah,” PJ Tucker told ClutchPoints earlier this week about a potential buyout. “That’s not on the table.”</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/P.J.-Tucker-prepares-to-shoot-as-he-warms-up.webp"><figcaption>Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>Head coach Tyronn Lue addressed the Clippers sending both Tucker and Bones Hyland home ahead of the All-Star break, saying he understands their frustrations.</p><p>“I mean it’s a good thing because I played the game and I understand that you want to have competitors on your team,” Tyronn Lue told reporters at Wednesday’s shootaround. “They want to play. And so when you try to get traded and it doesn’t work out and you want to go to a place where you want to play, it doesn’t mean they’re not happy here, which they are. But they want to play, they want to compete.”</p><p>Tucker played in his first 12 games with the Clippers, averaging 14.4 minutes per game all off the bench. The team struggled to play at a high level during his time on the court, and a lot of it was due to a positional crunch. The Clippers went 4-8 in the games that Tucker played, including the six-game losing streak when he first arrived while registering a -8.9 net rating in 137 minutes. The Clippers desperately needed athleticism and shooting around Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden, which is why they tried playing rookie Kobe Brown before finding something in Amir Coffey.</p><p>Tucker hasn’t played since November 27th, and there’s no expectation that he’ll join the rotation anytime soon. In fact, Tucker, who has not been inactive for any of the Clippers’ games this season, has rarely put his jersey on for almost 3 months while sitting on the bench. Since the trade deadline, Tucker has started wearing his jersey.</p><p>“When you’ve got guys like PJ, who have another year left on his deal, he can ride off into the sunset, he’s 70 years old,” Lue added Wednesday. “But he wants to play, he wants to compete. And so you understand that you want guys like that. So the trade didn’t happen, they’re going to be here. So we’re just gonna give them a little time off, get their minds right and come back Oklahoma City and be ready to go.”</p><p>Still, Tyronn Lue said Tucker should remain ready to receive an opportunity as the season transitions into March and April.</p><p>Terance Mann and Norman Powell, the two players who sit to the right and left of PJ Tucker in the Clippers locker room, have credited Tucker with not letting his frustrations spill into the locker room and continuing to be the player-leader they need from the sidelines.</p><p>“PJ’s been great,” Terance Mann said. “He’s been great, he’s always vocal on the bench, telling us what we need to be doing, what we don’t need to be going. He’s a great guy. He’s not going to be selfish and take away from the team at all. So, you know, he’s been great. I think a lot of defensive stuff, just being physical. He always taught me, move people off their spots and just being physical.”</p><p>“I played with PJ in Toronto for a season and I mean he’s always been a great locker room guy no matter what’s going on personally for him in his career,” Norman Powell added. “He’s always given advice, always talking about the game and how we can win and improve, especially defensively. That’s where he makes his mark. So I still joke with him on the things that he was telling me. He always gives me a hard time about some of the rotations. Like, ‘man, that’s the same thing I was telling you when we was in Toronto. You’re still doing it.’ So he’s always been good. He’s a good vet.</p><p>“I know he is probably frustrated,” Powell continued. “He wants the opportunity and hopefully down the stretch of this second half of the season, after All-Star, he will be able to make a contribution. It’s more on the coaches to figure out how to use him because he’s really good, especially as an enforcer on the defensive end. I think when the game starts to slow down, especially in the playoffs and teams start to lock in, he’ll be a good guy to go to and you need a big body to bang and be physical and take somebody out.”</p><p>—</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/James-Harden-speaks-with-Philadelphia-76ers-teammate-PJ-Tucker.webp"><figcaption>Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>During the summer of 2022, James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers worked to sign PJ Tucker as a free agent, eventually inking him to a three-year, $33 million deal. Tucker will be 40 years old at the end of his current deal, assuming he opts into his 2024-25 option.</p><p>When Harden signed the one-plus-one deal that summer, taking a paycut in order to help the Sixers facilitate roster moves to contend for a championship, the expectation was that James would opt out and receive a long-term contract the following offseason.</p><p>There were reports that Harden’s malcontent with the Sixers began once they didn’t communicate with him ahead of free agency, and there was reportedly no max contract offer. So while Harden’s trade request was documented, the same could not be said for PJ Tucker at the time.</p><p>A 13-year veteran who has spent time and won championships both in the NBA as well as overseas, PJ Tucker says he doesn’t feel like this current role with the Clippers is something he has to endure because, unlike Harden, he never requested a trade.</p><p>“No, not necessarily because I feel like I shouldn’t have to go through this,” Tucker told ClutchPoints regarding his status with the Clippers. “I didn’t ask to be here. I didn’t ask for and I didn’t demand a trade to be here.”</p><p>In regards to Tucker being on the move, he made it very clear when asked if he ever requested a trade from Philly:</p><p>“No,” Tucker adamantly responded. “So, I don’t feel like it’s something I have to deal with. I don’t look at it as one of those things. When I was younger, struggling to play or trying to figure it out. I figured it out, I mastered my craft, and what I bring to teams. So, it’s something I got to deal with, yeah, but it is what it is.”</p><p>“So, I don’t feel like it’s something I have to deal with. I don’t look at it as one of those things. So, it’s something I got to deal with, yeah, but it is what it is.”</p><p>Tucker’s eventual addition to the James Harden trade package was puzzling, especially considering the different pathways that could’ve landed the Clippers James Harden while also retaining a respected veteran like Nicolas Batum or Robert Covington. But sources familiar with the situation who are not authorized to speak publicly said there was essentially no James Harden trade with the Clippers without PJ Tucker’s inclusion.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/PJ-Tucker-with-his-tongue-out-during-Clippers-Nuggets.webp"><figcaption>Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The Sixers were determined to move off Tucker and his contract in any Harden trade, per sources, and some of the delays in getting a Harden deal done were initially because the Clippers were trying to find ways not to take his contract on, including potentially re-routing him to a third team. ClutchPoints NBA insider <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/siegels-scoop-inside-james-harden-sixers-clippers-trade" rel="noopener">Brett Siegel reported on this</a> and the James Harden trade in detail.</p><p>Ultimately, the Clippers were forced to give up Batum and take on Tucker in their deal to acquire James Harden. Tucker told ClutchPoints that being included in the trade was a surprise, especially since he was told by the Sixers’ front office that he wasn’t going to be moved.</p><p>“Yeah, and they still traded me.”</p><p>With a weeklong All-Star break to refocus on the Clippers, Tucker, who turns 39 years of age in May, still plans to show up to the gym early to get his work in and still plans to be the positive veteran the Clippers need.</p><p>“That’s natural, regardless of what’s going on with the front office. [I have] a responsibility to the guys to be positive. It’s not their fault.”</p><p>“I’m 38. I know the game. I know what it takes. It’s something that, like I can’t get out of shape. I get out of shape, it might be over, I might get injured, all kind of shit can happen. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring. And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that.”</p><p>With Tucker <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-clippers-pj-tucker-actively-looking-for-trade-amid-minimal-role" rel="noopener">remaining on the Clippers’ roster</a> past the trade deadline, many speculated that he could become a prime buyout candidate for several playoff-contending teams around the league. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-new-pj-tucker-makes-decision-on-future-after-trade-deadline-passes" rel="noopener">Tucker won’t be seeking a buyout</a> at this time, as he is making $11 million this season and owns an $11.5 million player option for the 2024-25 season.</p><p>The team also looked into moving Hyland ahead of the trade deadline. Los Angeles acquired him ahead of the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for two second-round picks. The 23-year-old has only played in 19 games this season, averaging 6.2 points.</p><p>No reasoning has been given on why either player was sent home by the team. Whether or not the Clippers look to insert Tucker or Hyland back into their rotations upon their returns to the team is unknown.</p><p>The Clippers currently find themselves 35-17 on the season, just two games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the best record in the Western Conference.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Some players have gotten their plea of getting traded to a desired team but that was not <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-new-pj-tucker-makes-decision-on-future-after-trade-deadline-passes" rel="noopener">the case for PJ Tucker</a>. The Los Angeles Clippers led by Trent Redden and Tyronn Lue have refused to deal him to another squad. Instead, Tucker will choose to stay with them for the remainder of their 2023-24 campaign despite his NBA Trade Deadline wishes not coming true. His senses kicked in when he realized that the Clippers would not deal him with another squad. This is because he has an $11.5 million player option next season which rules out any possibility of a buyout.</p><p>Reportedly, Tucker has not gotten the chance to fight for more minutes in Tyronn Lue’s system. This disabled him from playing his staple role as a kickout threat on the corner or even a small-ball center when necessary. His averages also <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/tuckepj01.html" rel="noopener">had a big dip</a> after being traded along with James Harden. He only notches 1.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest due to falling out of the Clippers’ rotation.
