The 2nd-year guard has been cooking for the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-clippers">Los Angeles Clippers</a>, and has figured in some big-time performances when his team needed it most.</p><p>Former Clippers guard Sindarius Thornwell has taken notice of Mann’s postseason coming out party, and couldn’t help but take a subtle dig at his former coach.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Wish doc let me hoop like lue let Mann.</p><p>— sindarius thornwell (@Sin_City_803) <a href="https://twitter.com/Sin_City_803/status/1408186920774082577?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank">June 24, 2021</a></p></blockquote><p></p></figure><p>Does Sindarius have a point? Thornwell played with the Clippers under Doc Rivers for two seasons. He was actually <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thornsi01.html">given a ton of playing time</a> during his rookie season, averaging nearly 16 minutes per contest, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-clippers/stats">close to</a> Mann’s 18 minutes per game this season. But in that time, Thornwell only posted 3.9 points per game on 42.9% shooting.</p><p>In the following year, Thornwell’s role under Rivers’ system drastically shrunk. He played in 4.9 minutes per game, averaging just a single point on 34.7% shooting from the field. He played in just three minutes per game in four playoff appearance during their 2019 series against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/golden-state-warriors">Golden State Warriors</a>.</p><p>But perhaps he never got a green light like Mann was given? Sindarius Thornwell was known as a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJV9Dygtpc8">big-time scorer</a> in college but was designated as a defensive player during his time with the Clippers. But of course, the NBA is an entirely different story.</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>Thornwell did follow up with a couple of tweets clarifying that he still learned a ton and respects Doc Rivers.
