While major changes may or may not be on the horizon, the Bulls in the meantime, had a big game on Wednesday against the defending champion Boston Celtics. The Bulls were hit with a little bad news, however, as Talen Horton-Tucker was ruled out for <a href="https://x.com/KCJHoop/status/1884780018728845532">the rest of the game</a> due to an injury, as per K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.</p><p>Prior to suffering the injury during the Bulls’ game against the Celtics, Talen Horton-Tucker had played only two minutes and did not register a single stat. Johnson reported that Horton-Tucker’s injury was a shin injury. Obviously moving forward, his injury status is going to be one to monitor.</p><p>The sixth-year guard has been playing a steady role for the Bulls off the bench this season, a year in which it’s shaping up to be disappointing yet again as Bulls fans have become accustomed to.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-chicago-making-move-ex-lakers-guard-amid-nba-offseason">Talen Horton-Tucker initially signed with the Bulls</a> as a free agent in the offseason and ended up making the team’s final roster out of training camp. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 46th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.</p><p>This season, he has appeared in 39 games with the Bulls, at a little over 11 minutes per game. He’s been averaging 6.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists with splits of 45.7 percent shooting from the field, 38.3 percent shooting from the three-point line and 72.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line.</p><p>Horton-Tucker played three seasons for the Lakers and was a part of their 2020 championship team as a rookie. Following the 2021-22 season, the Lakers traded him to the Utah Jazz along with Stanley Johnson in exchange for Patrick Beverley. But he’s already suffered a big financial loss before he could even ink a new contract, as his home has been <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/06/23/nba-talen-horton-tucker-home-broken-into-170k-in-jewelry-stolen/" rel="noopener">reportedly burglarized</a>, with suspects getting away with jewelry that costs an estimated total of $170,000, per TMZ Sports.</p><p><i>“A Los Angeles-area home belonging to NBA guard Talen Horton-Tucker was broken into earlier this week … and law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports cops believe the suspect made off with $170,000 in jewelry.”</i></p><p>There has been no footage available yet of the said incident as of this writing, but TMZ Sports said that at least a part of it was caught by camera.</p><p><i>We’re told the break-in — or at least part of it — was actually captured on camera … showing the thief entering the property by jumping over a back fence — before leaving out of one of the residence’s side yards.</i></p><p>Even for a multi-millionaire professional athlete, getting robbed of such belongings with that kind of value must hurt. But at least no one got hurt on the scene, with the soon-to-be free agent Jazz guard not at home when the robbery took place. The home incursion was only reported to the police after a house sitter found out about it. No one has yet to be arrested in relation to the incident,  TMZ Sports added.</p><h2><b>Jazz guard Talen Horton-Tucker’s NBA free agency outlook</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Talen-Horton-Tucker-on-the-court-during-a-Jazz-Rockets-game.jpg"><figcaption>Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p> </p><p>Horton-Tucker is one of a number of Jazz players with expiring contracts. Among other Utah assets who are about to become either restricted or unrestricted free agents are Kira Lewis Jr., Kris Dunn, Luka Samanic, and Micah Potter. The former Iowa State Cyclones star arrived in Salt Lake City in the summer of 2022 when the Los Angeles Lakers traded him to the Jazz along with Stanley Johnson for Patrick Beverley. The Jazz also got a trade exception via that deal with the Lakers.</p><p>There is no assurance that the Jazz would retain the services of Horton-Tucker, who could get a much more lucrative deal from another team than what Utah probably is willing to pay him. In the 2023-24 NBA season, Horton-Tucker was able to stay in Utah by picking up his player option that was worth $11.02 million. Given his unspectacular 2023-24 campaign with the Jazz, it could be tough for him to find a long deal that carries over $10 million in average annual value. For what it’s worth, the Jazz own Horton-Tucker’s bird exception.</p><p>Horton-Tucker, who was selected by the Orlando Magic in the second round (16th pick overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft, mostly acted as a backup guard for the Jazz over the last two seasons. Across a total of 116 games in Jazz uniform, Horton-Tucker, averaged 10.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.</p><p>While he can do a little bit of everything, Horton-Tucker’s value is weighed down by his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/jazz-biggest-disappointment-early-in-2023-24-nba-season">inefficient ways</a> on the offensive side of the floor. He has a career 42.3 field goal percentage and has connected on just 29.3 percent of his attempts from behind the arc since entering the league. He is also carrying just a career 47.2 effective field goal percentage and a 51.3 true shooting percentage.</p><p>Still just 23 years old, Horton-Tucker could be someone the Jazz can keep and hope that he’ll one day blossom into a more dangerous weapon at a potential bargain price.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Jazz are looking to give Collins a fresh start and are hoping that the change in scenery allows him to somehow live up to the $78.5 million he is set to pocket over the next three seasons.</p><p>The Jazz have more on their plate this summer, though, with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-las-austin-reaves-rui-hachimura-official-fa-announcements/" rel="noopener">NBA free agency coming up</a>. The good news for them is that Talen Horton-Tucker’s future with the squad — at least in the short term — has now been secured. It seems that the 6-foot-4 guard was not confident that he would get a better offer in free agency as opposed to the $11 million guaranteed money he will receive from the Jazz next season. Either that or he just really, really enjoys playing in Utah.</p><p>For what it’s worth, this deal is the same one THT signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021. It’s worth $30.8 million for three years, which will expire in the summer of 2024. Unless he secures an extension with the Jazz this season, Horton-Tucker is going to enter free agency this time next year. He racked up 37 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists in the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hornets-news-pj-washington-truth-bomb-loss-jazz" rel="noopener">Jazz’s 119-111 win</a> over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.</p><p>It was his third straight game with at least 20 points while he was notably just two rebounds short of becoming the first Jazz player to record a triple-double since 2008. Overall, it’s been a remarkable improvement for the former Laker who initially struggled taking up the point guard position following <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/jazz-news-collin-sexton-suffers-hamstring-injury-ruled-out-vs-grizzlies" rel="noopener">Collin Sexton’s injury</a>.</p><p>And everyone associated with the Jazz has been pleased with THT’s improvement, including Jordan Clarkson who could only <a href="https://www.sltrib.com/sports/jazz/2023/03/11/talen-horton-tucker-experiment-is/" rel="noopener">heap praise on his teammate</a>.</p><p>“He’s been doing a lot of great things: Getting us into sets, making plays, making the spot-up trey — I’ve been telling him to shoot those!” Clarkson was quoted as saying on The Salt Lake Tribune. “All in all, he’s made strides throughout the whole season, and he’s been really good for us recently. Now you’re kind of seeing his winning plays and what he brings to us.”</p><p>Kelly Olynyk echoed that sentiment while acknowledging that the Horton-Tucker experiment at point guard was a work in progress.</p><p>“Obviously it’s a work in progress. He hasn’t really played the point position [before] — he’s more of a 2-guard or a big guard. But he’s so talented,” Olynyk stated. “He gets to the rim so easily, he gets by people, uses his body really well, he’s shot the ball well lately, which has been good.</p><p>“He makes big plays for us, athletic plays that other guys can’t make, just getting by guys, drawing contact, finishing, and then making shots. The bitter taste of that Talen Horton-Tucker dunk was also rinsed off not only by the Jazz’s loss, but also of the four shots Jackson swatted away in the contest.</p><p>The Grizzlies, who recovered right away from Sunday’s loss to the Boston Celtics, will now prepare for a Thursday meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers.
