He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Denver Nuggets</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Recently, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-denver-massive-2025-nba-free-agency-winner">Denver Nuggets made some offseason splashes</a> by <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-cam-johnson-tim-hardaway-jr-understand-why-denver-targeted-them">trading for Brooklyn Nets wing Cam Johnson</a> and signing sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency. The Denver front office hopes that these moves, combined with a reunion with free agent Bruce Brown, will be enough to propel the team back to its championship heights of 2023.</p><p>There is no player in the NBA that’s more beneficial to play alongside as a wing shooter than Nikola Jokic, and recently, Johnson and Hardaway took to the “Young Man &amp; The Three” podcast to break down <a href="https://x.com/OldManAndThree/status/1943357390142767441" rel="noopener">their high hopes</a> as teammates with the three-time MVP.</p><p>“Honestly, a big part of it is not having to play against him anymore,” Johnson joked. “He’s a problem, that’s it, period. He can pass, rebound, score — you don’t know what you’re gonna get any given day, like what mode he’s in. It’s an uncanny ability. He has spatial awareness, just how he feels a game, how he understands the game, like he does it in a way different than anybody else in the league.”</p><p>“For us, I really do think that walking into this situation, we’re going to strive, it’s going to be great, but a lot of that’s just going to come from getting stops, getting easy buckets, and going out there and having a good time,” added Hardaway.</p><h2><b>Can the Nuggets bounce back?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Nikola-Jokic.jpg"><figcaption>© Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>This past postseason, the Nuggets pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to Game 7 in the Western Conference semifinals before ultimately bowing out. Oklahoma City went on to win the NBA championship, perhaps signaling to the Nuggets’ front office that they may only be a piece or two away from winning the whole thing again.</p><p>Enter Johnson and Hardaway Jr., two elite spot-up shooters who can also provide secondary playmaking and solid defense. The Nuggets have now arguably surrounded Jokic with the best floor spacing of his career, which could prime the league’s best player to have yet another MVP season in 2025-26.</p><p>“It hasn’t been an easy team to guard over the past couple of years. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-tim-hardaway-jr-free-agency-addition">Nuggets would add Tim Hardaway Jr.</a> and Cam Johnson to the team as lateral moves, with the two discussing why they were targeted in the first place.</p><p>Both Johnson and Hardaway Jr. were on the podcast titled “The Young Man and The Three,” where each would be asked what their excited about the most heading to Denver. Besides Johnson mentioning that the team has the makings of a championship squad, like in 2023, he would also speak about the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=traxN2pDxro&amp;t=286s" rel="noopener">opportunity of showing off their best traits</a>, such as three-point shooting.</p><p>“You mentioned before that they were 30th in three-point attempts last season,” Johnson said. “We can fact-check that, but if that’s true, it’s not for a lack of opportunity. It’s not for a lack of spacing on the court because, Tim, we both played against Denver plenty of times. They have Jamal, AG, Jokic, they’re able to pull guys around the court and create double teams, create kick outs, create one mores, and for us there’s going to be a lot of opportunity to thrive.”</p><p>As Johnson would mention, Denver attempted the least amount of three-pointers in the NBA last year at 31.9 per game, only making 12 a contest, which had them tied for third worst in the association. Johnson is coming off a season where he averaged 18.8 points per game on shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range for the Nets, averaging 7.2 deep attempts.</p><h2><b>Tim Hardaway on how “golden” Nuggets situation is</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Pistons-sharpshooter-Tim-Hardaway-Jr.jpg"><figcaption>Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>As some might consider the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-denver-massive-2025-nba-free-agency-winner">Nuggets to be the biggest winners of free agency</a> with the right moves to add to what could be a team competing for the title, it’s important to look at the reasons for the move. Hardaway would echo the same sentiments as Johnson, saying how their situation is “golden” for them since they could help Denver with their three-point shooting.</p><p>“Basically last in three-point attempts,” Hardaway said. “That’s golden for us coming in. That’s what we like to do, that’s what we want to do. Get up and down, run the floor, create offense for others. For ourselves as well, but just with the cutting and continuous ball movement and player movement out there on the floor, I think it sets everybody up for success.”</p><p>Last season, Hardaway was with the Detroit Pistons as he averaged 11 points on shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc. Be sure to follow him on Twitter @BrettSiegelNBA.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Denver Nuggets</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr., according to Shams Charania of ESPN.</p><p>Hardaway, 33, is the latest key veteran to join the Nuggets this offseason as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-reunite-with-timberwolves-exec-front-office-overhaul">new front office executives Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace</a> continue to make aggressive moves to surround three-time MVP Nikola Jokic with championship-level talent.</p><p>After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-michael-porter-jr-trade-bombshell-cam-johnson-deal">trading Michael Porter Jr.</a> and a 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for two-way wing Cam Johnson, the Nuggets have since added Bruce Brown, Jonas Valanciunas, and now Hardaway Jr. to their roster.</p><p>All four of these new offseason additions bring valuable experience with them to Denver and expand on what many referred to as a broken rotation during the 2024-25 season.</p><p>Outside of Jokic and Jamal Murray, Denver struggled to find consistent offensive production. This was especially true when evaluating the Nuggets’ second unit and bench, which ranked bottom five in the league this past year.</p><p>Although Porter had been a key part of the Nuggets’ championship run in 2023, trading him to the Nets opened up flexibility for the team to add much-needed depth to their roster. Hardaway now joins the mix in Denver as a reliable 3-point shooter who recently found a lot of success with the Detroit Pistons.</p><p>In one season with the Pistons, Hardaway averaged 11.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range. Over the last three seasons, the veteran sharpshooter has scored 50 percent of his 3,002 total points from the perimeter.</p><p>Detroit replaced his role with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/detroit-pistons/pistons-news-detroit-free-agent-addition-malik-beasley-drama">Caris LeVert in free agency</a> on Monday.</p><p>The Nuggets needed another key 3-point shooting threat after giving Porter up on Monday, which is why the addition of Hardaway is such a big deal for this franchise. While he may not be the same defender Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was, he will fill that catch-and-shoot role Denver was missing during the 2024-25 season.</p><p>With 14 players under contract and right at the tax line for the 2025-26 season, the Nuggets are expected to remain aggressive in the marketplace.</p><p>There is the possibility that the Nuggets could seek to trade Zeke Nnaji and move his contract in order to open up flexibility and additional spending power. This would allow them to address a key need for a backup point guard behind Murray.</p><p>Even with limited names remaining in free agency, players like Russell Westbrook, Malcolm Brogdon, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Tre Mann still loom large as possible additions in Denver.</p><p>The Nuggets finished the 2024-25 season with a 50-32 record and made it to the Western Conference Semifinals for the third straight year.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

All three of their victories came in close games. Game 1 was a comeback victory at Madison Square Garden. They almost pulled off a similar feat, but the comeback attempt came up short. A bevy of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-gilbert-arenas-predicts-pat-riley-exit-amid-jimmy-butler-feud">former players such as Gilbert Arenas has spoken about Butler’s</a> situation, but add Tim Hardaway Sr. to the list as he has experience with the Heat and president Pat Riley.</p><p>Hardaway was on SiriusXM NBA Radio and spoke about the ongoing odyssey with the Miami star and was heavily criticizing how the 35-year-old has been going about it. He would say that Butler has been disrespecting “authority” and that he will be unable to “sink” the ship that Riley has built, plus speaks on how <a href="https://x.com/SiriusXMNBA/status/1878095019006988466" rel="noopener">“mind-boggling”</a> it is to Hardaway that the forward won’t opt-in to his over $50 million player option.</p><p>“You don’t disrespect authority, and that’s what Jimmy Butler has been doing,” Hardaway said. “And I tell you this, Pat Riley, this boat is going to sail on top of the water as long as Pat Riley is there, Jimmy Butler is trying to sink that ship. That ship is not going to sink. I’m all with Pat Riley. You under contract, you know, you play up under this contract. We may see where all the chips may fall, but, and you can opt into $52 million next year that you say you’re not going to opt into, which is mind-boggling to me. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-jimmy-butler-suspended-seven-games">Heat would suspend Butler for seven games</a> “due to conduct detrimental to the team” as Hardaway would even say that he knows Riley gave the National Basketball Players Association a “10-page letter” and film of why they took action that way.</p><p>“It’s about accountability. If you can’t take rejection, because everything has been saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes to you, now you upset that the world is coming to an end,” Butler said. “Oh, I can’t play now, because he’s not gonna give me the money that I want. No, go out there and play, you are under contract. Go ahead and play. I know Pat, and that’s what it’s doing. That’s what’s happening. And I knew that. I said, Look, Pat got a 10-page letter to the Players Association, and he gonna have film showing why he suspended this man before that even happened. And guess what? The sharpshooter is currently dealing with back spasms, a new issue that seems to be a product of the team’s recent schedule. The Pistons have already played six games in 2025, making Saturday night’s affair their seventh game of the New Year.</p><p>Toronto will also play its third game in four days and fourth in six days. The Raptors have been on the road for each of their past three games. They are coming off a hard-fought 132-126 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.</p><p>Hardaway Jr. is the Pistons’ fourth-leading scorer at the midway point of 2024-2025. The veteran three-and-D wing is averaging 10.5 points per game on the year and is tied for third on the year with 34 starts. He is also the team’s third-best shooter, behind point guard Cade Cunningham and sixth man Malik Beasley.</p><p>If Hardaway Jr. is unable to go, his absence would be a massive loss to an already shorthanded Pistons team. With Jaden Ivey already out for the year with a broken leg, Beasley would likely draw a spot start should Hardaway Jr. sit.</p><p>Regardless of who takes the court, shooting will be a key factor for the Pistons. The Raptors allow 14.2 three-pointers per game, the fifth-most in the league.
