Tristan Thompson currently plays for the Boston Celtics.
Born on March 13, 1991 in Toronto, ON, Canada, he is listed at 6' 9" and weighs 254 lbs.
Thompson went to high school at the famed Findlay Prep (NV). After high school, a big time recruit with nearly every major program in the country after him, he committed to the Texas Longhorns.
After a stellar stint in college, which highlighted his ability to defend and rebound, NBA scouts were high on him when he declared for the draft.
No team was higher on him than the Cleveland Cavaliers, who used their No. 4 overall pick to select Tristan Thompson in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Often playing a key role for the Cavs alongside LeBron James, Thompson made a name for himself for being the ultimate team player, defending and rebounding. Moreover, despite not often known to score in bunches, he’s the rare undersized big man who often made legitimate impacts without the ball in his hands.
When his time comes to an end, it will be interesting to see how people view his playing career in hindsight. His excellence was, unfortunately, overshadowed by the teammates who surrounded him.
During his NBA career he also played 9 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He joined the Boston Celtics in 2020.
