I’m way better than Tristan, and you can take that to the bank. Tristan can’t hang with me.”</p><p>While most people understood the context of what Nance Jr. meant by “better” compared to Thompson, social media had fun with Larry’s words that read as if he’s saying he’s the better player than Tristan, with whom Nance Jr. played alongside the Cavs from 2017 to 2020. Nance Jr. had to clarify what he meant by the quote by commenting on his own X (formerly Twitter).</p><p>“Chillll, I meant better at the broadcasting thing. Khloe and Tristan dated on-and-off from 2016-2021 and share True and son Tatum.</p><p>“I didn’t want to say, ‘No he’s not [my husband],’ I didn’t know what to do,” Kardashian said. “I asked my therapist and she said, ‘[True is] so young. With the (very notable) <a href="https://cavsnation.com/rumors/cavs-rumors-fans-react-lebron-james-welcome-home-hat-golf-course">exception of LeBron James</a>, the <a href="https://cavsnation.com/news/cavs-news-ty-jerome-reveals-cleveland-offer-chance-return">Cavs have had a struggle</a> pulling in free agents over the years, which may in part be due to the area’s relatively small market size and the fact that it’s not exactly considered a destination city.</p><p>Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham recently doubled down on this idea when speaking about a possible WNBA expansion team in the city of Cleveland, saying, “I don’t know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or [Cleveland],” per Yahoo Sports on X.</p><p>Now, Cavs big man Tristan Thompson, who helped win a championship for Cleveland in the 2015-16 season, <a href="https://x.com/RealTristan13/status/1940210500685775030" rel="noopener">is firing back at</a> Cunningham’s remarks.</p><p>“Cleveland is an unbelievable sports town, with great people, great restaurants, and its great for outdoor/nature activities . Still surprises me to see people say stuff like this,” wrote Thompson on X.</p><p>The city of Cleveland was also the target of an epic rant from then-Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah during a playoff series between the Cavs and Bulls during LeBron James’ first stint with the franchise.</p><p>However, one thing that can’t be denied is the passion that Cleveland has for its sports teams. The Cavaliers star will serve as the company’s Chief Advisory Officer,</p><p>“I’m really attracted to things that can actually help society, and I think in the crypto, blockchain world, people are making amazing things each and every day that can change the world,” says Thompson of the company who urges users to be knowledgeable of their health data.</p><p>“But for Axon, it’s combining AI with health, and for me, it hits close to home with my brother Amari,” he says.</p><p>Thompson’s little brother, Amari Thompson, has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a severe form of epilepsy. He requires around-the-clock care. Tristan shared that Amari has two full-time caregivers who have been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celebrity/khloe-kardashian-supports-tristan-thompsons-brother-in-dance-recital" rel="noopener">very supportive of the family.</a></p><p>“They’ve been a blessing and angels in disguise, especially with my mom passing away, being able to meet two amazing human beings that really helped me with this journey,” he says of his late mother Andrea Thompson, who died in 2023. Tristan now has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/opinion/tristan-thompson-to-get-legal-guardianship-brother-amari" rel="noopener">legal guardianship over Amari. </a></p><p>“Because you need a village. When you have family members that go through stuff, it doesn’t take one person. You need a village to help build everyone up and pick everyone up because some days are tougher than others. So I’ve been very fortunate with that,” Tristan added.</p><p>After speaking with different kinds of people, Tristan shares that he was able to see how using his family’s story would be useful to others.</p><p>“You meet so many people from different walks of life. I’ve met teachers, I’ve met people at the casino, a regular person just playing on the blackjack table talking to me, people just randomly at the coffee shop,” he continues. “Most importantly, I’m able to put myself and our family in a vulnerable position where we can open up and talk about this.”</p><p>Tristan explains that Axon is “giving us as humans back the right and control of our medical history.” With the use of AI technology users can have “full access to their health data.”</p><p>The NBA star gave an example of how it can help everyday people with their medical data, “Let’s say, God forbid, you’re on a trip and you get sick, you go to this physician and instead of you going through that headache of getting your records and get it sent over, which could take days, you have that access on your phone or on a mobile device where you’ll be able to provide that information.”</p><p>Tristan adds that he wants to use his platform outside of the NBA to help others.</p><p>“I think that’s why you see this whole narrative change where athletes want to be more than just sports,” he says. “We want to be businessmen. They want to be creators and developers. And for myself, that’s what I want to be. I want to be an innovator. I’m in disbelief,” Thompson wrote in the caption.</p><p>“Im in the deepest part of sorrow &amp; grief,” the Cavaliers star continued. “My soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of Gods warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way.”</p><p>In the caption he apologized for his wrongdoings and scandals which mainly included the women he was involved with at the time.</p><p>“You raised me better than what I was able to show you. But I have also learned sorry is not enough,” Thompson added. “Actions speak louder than words. So I wont just say sorry. Stay tuned to the ways I will show the world what an amazing son you raised. I will show you that even when we fall &amp; make mistakes, we get back up.”</p><p>He promised his mother that he would take care of the family and especially his now 18 year-old brother Amari that has epilepsy and must have around the clock care. Thompson has kept his promise to his mother as he is the official guardian of Amari.</p><p>“I know they say time heals all but I don’t think this pain will ever go away,” Thompson continued. “We had so many memories &amp; more I wanted to share with you. The former eventually returned to the franchise in the 2023-24 season.</p><p>While they are not on the same team, the bond they created still remains. Winning 64 games in the regular season and sweeping the Heat in the first round as the top seed speaks volumes to their talent and case as title contenders. The Cleveland Cavaliers center failed to appear at a court hearing, according to <a href="https://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/khloe-kardashians-ex-tristan-thompson-issued-warning-in-court/" rel="noopener">legal documents</a> obtained by In Touch Weekly.</p><p>On Tuesday, April 22, a hearing was held in Los Angeles Superior Court for Tristian’s 18-year-old brother Amari Thompson’s guardianship. Amari is the NBA star’s younger brother who has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, which a severe form of epilepsy. The 18-year-old is to receive around-the-clock care.</p><p>According to the legal documents that Tristan was issued a sanction after “failure to comply or appear may result in sanctions.” Tristan and his attorney, Aaron Hegji, were supposed to appear in court for the hearing pertaining Amari’s guardianship and were “properly notified of the court’s order.”</p><p>As a result, the judge scheduled a new hearing, and Tristan is due back in court on June 12.</p><h2>Tristan Thompson Granted Guardianship Over Amari Thompson</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Credit-Kevin-Jairaj-Imagn-Images.jpg"><figcaption>Credit: Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Last year, Tristan was granted guardianship over Amari, who just turned 18 last July. After the death of their mother, Andrea Thompson in January 2023, Amari moved in with Tristan and was granted temporary custody.</p><p>During The Kardashians on Hulu last season, Tristan thanked Khloe for taking care of Amari’s birthday.</p><p>“I appreciate you putting this all together. It’s definitely a special day,” the NBA star said.</p><p>“I know Mommy is happy and she’s smiling down on us,” he added, referring to he and Amari’s late mom, Andrea.</p><p>“She is,” Khloe responded.</p><p>While Khloe ended her relationship with Tristan after a cheating scandal with Maralee Nichols — the two share a son named Theo together — she still has shown how much she cares for the NBA star and his family.</p><p>“Every day we have with him is a blessing,” Khloe said in her confessional about Amari.</p><p>“Amari has never and will never be a burden or anything like that,” she added. “Amari is one of the most special souls I have ever met.”</p><p>Tristan and Khloe also share two children together: daughter True and son Tatum. However, they received some good news for star big man Evan Mobley. Mobley was named the Defensive Player of the Year after beating out Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors and Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks, the <a href="https://cavsnation.com/news/cavs-news-evan-mobley-named-finalist-defensive-player-of-the-year-award">other finalists for the award</a>.</p><p>It was quite the feat for Mobley, who became the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/cleveland-cavaliers/cavs-news-evan-mobley-history-defensive-player-of-the-year-draymond-green">first player in Cavs franchise history</a> to win the award. Mobley, the former USC Trojans star, received 35 of the 100 first-place votes for DPOY. Daniels finished second with 25 first-place votes, followed by Green in third with 15 first-place votes.</p><p>On Thursday night, Mobley was hilariously interrupted by two of his Cavs teammates during his DPOY acceptance speech on the NBA on TNT set.</p><p>“It was a big goal of mine coming into this year,” Mobley said.</p><p>The NBA on TNT crew asked Mobley a series of questions before Darius Garland and Tristan Thompson interrupted the interview.</p><p>“We just got into Miami right now,” Mobley said when Garland and Thompson appeared in the video feed.</p><p>“Man, we here. Also, I didn’t get to sit with my feelings enough for the first one. I gave birth less than 48 hours later after the first cheating scandal happened with Tristan,” Kardashian said.</p><p>“I don’t know if this sounds right but it’s what I could think to say, I don’t even think I was able to process everything that happened,” she continued. “I think if I maybe was six months pregnant and that happened, I probably would’ve walked away and never went back. But then that gets taken advantage of.”</p><p>She continued, “I’m like, all you guys, f— every single person around me, cause everyone loves to say how great I am after, but why don’t you think that before? But it’s really insulting to me.”</p><p>Khloe took her frustration to the confessional and shared how the relationships affected her.</p><p>“Anyone that knows my situation or has been in my situation would be a different version of themselves this many years later. It would be foolish not to be. You have to protect yourself and grow,” Khloe said, defending her behavior when she reunited with Lamar for the first time in nine years.</p><p>While she knows Kendall didn’t mean any malice by her advice, she still says its hurtful for people to expect her to react differently.</p><p>“I get offended, whether it be Tristan or Lamar, where these people do these outrageous things and then they see me again and act as if nothing happened. Or they’re like, ‘Oh, I wish I could put my tongue down your throat,'” Khloe said.</p><p>Last episode, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celebrity/kendall-jenner-khloe-kardashian-cold-ex-lamar-odom">Kendall said that Khloe should have had a kinder approach to Odom</a> when she spoke to him.</p><p>“It was kind of sad,” Kendall said on episode seven of The Kardashians. “And it was also cool to see them together, I guess, but, I have my personal thoughts on it just because I think that Khloe could have been a bit gentler.”</p><p>“I think I definitely could have been nicer, or my tone could have been softer. But also, there’s so much going on. I can’t even explain the emotions, the thoughts — the very last time I saw this person was very contentious and negative,” she said. “It wasn’t good. The 18-year-old also has other unidentified medical conditions.</p><p>“I do think it’s important for our kids and everyone’s kids to be exposed to all different types of people,” Khloe said, adding that Tatum and True — whom she shares with Tristan — are “much more exposed” to Amari compared to their cousins.</p><p>Earlier in the episode, Tristan thanked Khloe for setting up the party.</p><p>“I appreciate you putting this all together. Last year, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/opinion/tristan-thompson-to-get-legal-guardianship-brother-amari">Tristan was granted legal guardianship over Amari</a> last year.</p><p>According to<a href="https://people.com/tristan-thompson-granted-legal-guardianship-over-younger-brother-after-mothers-death-8601102" rel="noopener"> legal documents</a> obtained by People, “The Court finds that it is not in the Minor best interest to be returned to his/her parents’ previous country of nationality” of Canada, where Amari was born. The court also found “reunification” between Amari and Trevor [Thompson] is “not viable due to neglect, abandonment under California law.”</p><p>Trevor Thompson is Amari and Tristan’s father and he reportedly has not been in Amari’s life since 2014.</p><p>“I have not had any contact with him since his separation from our late mother in 2014, and contact was minimal prior to that date,” Tristan said of his father in <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tristan-thompson-asks-to-be-sole-conservator-of-17-year-old-brother-says-he-cannot-locate-their" rel="noopener">legal documents</a> obtained by Entertainment Tonight. “My only contact with Trevor Thompson in the past nine years was a brief interaction when he appeared at my mother’s funeral. The former couple was spotted at Thompson’s younger brother’s birthday party in the April 3 episode of The Kardashians. The Good American founder celebrated the Cleveland Cavaliers star by joining him at Amari’s 18th birthday party.</p><p>Kardashian and Thompson sat next to each other on the couch and thanked her for setting up the celebration.</p><p>“I appreciate you putting this all together. It’s definitely a special day,” the NBA star said.</p><p>“I know Mommy is happy and she’s smiling down on us,” he added, referring to his and Amari’s late mom, Andrea, who died in January 2023.</p><p>“She is,” Kardashian responded.</p><p>Amari has epilepsy as well as other medical conditions and requires care throughout the day.</p><p>“Every day we have with him is a blessing,” Khloé said in her confessional.</p><p>“Amari has never and will never be a burden or anything like that,” she added. “Amari is one of the most special souls I have ever met.”</p><p>Kardashian’s family sees how much Amari means to her and her mom, Kris Jenner, spoke how much Khloe cares for Amari.</p><p>“Khloe truly is such a big part of Amari’s life and I think it’s so incredibly impressive how she takes care of him,” Kris said. “She’s literally a gift from God and so is Amari.”</p><p>Khloe took to Instagram to share some of her favorite snapshots of she and Amari over the years.
