They have the third worst record in the western conference with only 46 points this season. Much of that has to do with the lack of offense, as the Blackhawks have only scored 134 goals this season in 54 games played. That ranks 29th in the NHL. In the seeding games, he averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 24.2 minutes per game.</p><p>The terms of the deal were not publicized.</p><p>In the playoffs, the six-year veteran averaged 13.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.</p><figure><img src="https://clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Tyler.jpg"><figcaption>ClutchPoints</figcaption></figure><p>Johnson is gritty on both ends, and he can play both backcourt positions.</p><p>Before signing with Brooklyn, Johnson appeared in 31 games during the 2019-20 season with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.6 minutes per game, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-tyler-johnson-undergoes-arthroscopic-surgery-on-right-knee/">though his tenure was marred by injuries</a>.</p><p>Johnson played for the Miami Heat from 2014-19.In 2016-17 with Miami, the 6’4 combo guard played 73 games and averaged a career-high 13.7 PPG.</p><p>In his career, the 28-year-old has averaged 10.5 points per game on 42.9% shooting, including 35.9% from 3-point range.</p><p>In 2016, Brooklyn presented Johnson, then a restricted free agent, with four-year, $50 million offer sheet. Now that he’s with the Brooklyn Nets — a team that he wanted to be a part of four years ago — Johnson is catching up on lost time.</p><p>To recall, Johnson was traded to the Suns from the Miami Heat in February 2019. From his perspective, the team had trouble identifying what his role would be. In the end, the partnership did not last and he was eventually waived in February 2020 before landing with the Nets.</p><blockquote>“Obviously it didn’t work out the way I would have wanted it to,” said Johnson of his time in Phoenix, per <a href="https://www.nba.com/nets/news/feature/2020/07/16/tyler-johnson-is-a-brooklyn-net-after-a-winding-road">Tom Dowd of nba.com</a>. “There was a handful of things that I felt could have gone better, not necessarily from it being nobody’s fault, I just felt like coming in there and having the quick change, I think it took a long time for everyone to get on the same page as far as me with the team and what my role was with the team. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, but fortunately, I’m here (with the Nets). I find myself in a position where I can have a little bit of redemption.”</blockquote><p>In the summer of 2016, Johnson was a restricted free agent and received a four-year, $50 million offer sheet from the Brooklyn Nets. He has spent four and a half seasons with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/">Miami Heat</a> where he was primarily a backup guard. In February 2019, he was traded to the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/phoenix-suns/">Phoenix Suns</a>. Come April, Johnson was ruled out of the season after missing 10 games with right knee soreness and undergoing arthroscopic surgery. Come February, the Suns waived him. For his career, the 28-year-old is averaging <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsty01.html">10.5 points</a>, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 25.7 minutes of action.</p><p>Johnson’s signing might be an effort by the Nets to fortify the guard spot. After all, there’s still no assurance that star guard <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/players/kyrie-irving/a5ba0900/">Kyrie Irving</a> will suit up and join the Nets in the Orlando campus. Former league MVP <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/players/kevin-durant/b0360985/">Kevin Durant</a>, too, is expected to sit out. The Nets are not willing to risk any more injury to their star forward.</p><p>The Nets sport a 30-24 record for seventh in the East. Though they are not expected to make it deep into the playoffs if ever they qualify, it seems that the Nets are looking to make the most out of the 2019-20 season. The season resumption is set to kick off on July 30 in Walt Disney World if <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-needs-to-reconsider-florida-location-given-recent-spike-of-covid-19-cases/">all goes according to plan</a>.</p><p>Johnson last played for the Phoenix Suns before getting waived shortly after the NBA’s trade deadline last February. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State in 2014, Johnson earned his stripes within the Miami Heat organization, rising up through their G League affiliate to land a two-year contract that expired during the summer of 2016. After which, the Heat matched a $50 million offer sheet handed out by the Brooklyn Nets, keeping him in Miami.</p><p>Johnson was traded to the Suns in February 2019, spending a total of 44 games with the Western Conference franchise between last season and the 2019-20 campaign before his release four months ago.</p><p>In his six-year NBA career, Johnson <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsty01.html">has averaged</a> 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, all while shooting 43.0 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from 3-point range. He has made 301 appearances, 71 of which as a starter.</p><p>The Rockets, entering the NBA’s suspended season in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, possess the sixth-best record in the Western Conference (40-24). They also boast the leading number of 3-point attempts and makes per game in the league.</p><p>At the trade deadline, the Rockets gave up starting center Clint Capela in order to fortify the wing position, adding sharpshooting 3-and-D stretch forward Robert Covington from the Minnesota Timberwolves.</p></article>    </body></html>

He likely won’t be available for long and teams must quickly pounce on the opportunity to avail of his services.</p><p>The undrafted guard out of Fresno State carved out a nice four-year tenure with the Miami Heat from 2015-2019. His style of play did not seem to fit the Suns’ current vision, as he was relegated to head coach Monty Williams’ dog house recently.</p><p>The 6-foot-3 lefty has developed into a good role player, with <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsty01.html">career averages</a> of 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. In 301 total games played, Johnson is a career 50 percent shooter from the field, 35.8 percent from three, and has a 77 percent success rate from the charity stripe.</p><p>Let’s take a look at three teams that should sign him up for the rest of the season.</p><p><b>Denver Nuggets</b></p><p>Riding the high of a three-game winning streak, the Denver Nuggets have leap-frogged the Los Angeles Clippers for the second-best record in the Western Conference at 37-16.</p><p>With the second half of the season fast approaching, the Nuggets will need some fresh legs to alleviate some minutes off their talented backcourt of Jamal Murray and Garry Harris. With his ability to play both guard positions, Johnson will be a perfect complementary piece for head coach Mike Malone.</p><p>Denver certainly took a hit when they had to give up Malik Beasley to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a four-team, 12-player trade last week. Johnson certainly has the ability to assume that role for the Nuggets.</p><p><b>Toronto Raptors</b></p><p>Winners of their last 13 games, the defending champions are the hottest team in the league right now. Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet have both been phenomenal for coach Nick Nurse. Injuries, however, have already kept them out of commission this year.</p><p>Adding Johnson will be good insurance just in case the injury bug decides to terrorize Toronto once more. His ability to drive into the lane and drain the long ball will indeed be of use to Toronto’s guard-oriented offense.</p><p><b>Los Angeles Lakers</b></p><p>The Purple and Gold had to deal with a wrench on their plans after a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that their prime target <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-news-darren-collison-decides-not-to-return-to-nba/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Darren Collison has decided to stay retired this season</a>. With him out of the picture, the Lakers should go all-in on the next best thing.</p><p>They still need a secondary floor general — a role that Johnson has struggled to fulfill at times. Signing Johnson might not be the most ideal, but it’s still good to have a back-up plan to ensure they keep the top spot in the West.</p><p>Johnson might just be the player they need since the Lakers still have to wait for Rajon Rondo to activate his “Playoff Rondo” mode in the postseason.
