His in-depth knowledge of two of the most passionate and raucous fan bases in the country gives him a truly unique writing voice.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Golden State Warriors</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Golden State Warriors (39-29) have been nearly invincible with trade deadline acquisition Jimmy Butler in the starting lineup, but Monday’s 114-105 home loss to a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-wiped-out-jokic-murry-less-nuggets-ugly-loss">painfully shorthanded Denver Nuggets team</a> proved that they are quite mortal. A 14-2 record with Butler is still sensational, but this ugly showing highlights just how steep a climb back to the top it could be for the NBA’s most recent dynasty.</p><p>While the team and its fans will want to attribute the outcome to just a bad night or <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-steve-kerr-shares-eye-opening-take-on-stephen-currys-absence">an overworked Stephen Curry</a>, three-time champion and current analyst Udonis Haslem believes the contest exposed <a href="https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/udonis-haslem-struggle-thunder-rockets-play-in/1836084/" rel="noopener">a major Golden State weakness</a>. And it is one that not even Butler might be able to combat.</p><p>“When you talk about Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook, you’re talking about guys that have size, speed and athleticism,” Haslem said on ESPN’s “NBA Today,” per Andy Lindquist of NBC Sports Bay Area.</p><p>“Those are the kinds of guys Jimmy struggles with. Smaller guards he can overpower, bigger guys he can usually get around. Those guys that have that balance of both, those teams are ones Jimmy struggles with. Guys with switchable matchups that can guard him on the post and the perimeter.”</p><p>The Warriors are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference and would battle the Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs if the regular season ended on Monday. Haslem actually thinks there are two teams that pose even more danger for them.</p><h2><b>Thunder and Rockets have specific strengths that could overpower Warriors</b></h2><p>“Neither [Oklahoma or Houston] in the first round is gonna play out well for Golden State,” the Miami Heat fan favorite and undrafted forward opined. “But [Oklahoma City Thunder] has wing defenders. They have Alex Caruso; they have Luguentz Dort. They have these lengthy, long wing defender guys. And Houston [Rockets] have that as well. So, neither one of those teams in the first round is going to play out well for Golden State. So, in my opinion move up as high as you can and get out of there.”</p><p>The Thunder have the No. 1 seed essentially locked up (12 and a half game lead) and the streaking Rockets presently occupy the second slot via tiebreaker. It seems unlikely that the Warriors can reach the Finals without going through either one of these franchises. Versatility can be a menace for a team that relies heavily on veterans, so there is naturally a concern that OKC and Houston <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-draymond-green-sounds-off-tired-reality-loss-nuggets">could wear down Golden State</a>.</p><p>Championship pedigree is a powerful thing, however. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have each won four titles and Jimmy Butler has competed for two in his own right. If they can occasionally lean on the superbly athletic Jonathan Kuminga and an underrated supporting cast, Steve Kerr’s group could potentially overcome any perceived matchup nightmares.</p><p>Regardless, the Warriors are probably not afraid of anyone in the NBA Playoffs. Even if the scouting report paints a bleak picture, they will exude fearlessness. That is an invaluable quality to have when adversity bears down on you. However, former NBA player turned analyst Udonis Haslem sees Detroit making some noise in the postseason.</p><p>During a segment on NBA on ESPN, Haslem praised the level of play coming out of Detroit, so much so, that he boldly claimed that the Pistons could give the Knicks trouble in the playoffs. However, Detroit still has 13 games remaining, while New York has 15. So the first-round matchups are yet to be determined.</p><p>Udonis Haslem mentions Jalen Brunson’s ankle injury he suffered in the Knicks’ 113-109 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on March 6. If he’s not ready to go by the postseason, then the Pistons could take advantage of that mismatch. That is if the current standings hold and the two teams face off against one another to open the playoffs.</p><p>That is certainly something to monitor for the Knicks moving forward. As for the Pistons, star guard Jaden Ivey is ruled out with a lower leg injury. I love seeing other guys have success.”</p><p>In terms of Haslem’s comments, he would preview the Heat after being eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Back in May on a “NBA Today” segment on ESPN, he would talk about the success that Herro has had as the sixth man and that it should be Duncan Robinson in the starting lineup.</p><p>“Moving into the future, in today’s NBA, you can still be sixth man, you can still get all your money, still get All Star in today’s NBA,” Haslem said. “Tyler’s role for us, and the best role for him, is to probably be a sixth man.”</p><p>“That’s taking nothing away from what Tyler does as a basketball player,” Haslem continued. “But for our chemistry, we are better when we got Duncan Robinson in the starting lineup, making plays, being that trigger for us and spraying and creating for other guys…Tyler can come off in that second group, doesn’t have to worry about getting other guys involved. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra spoke on the last day of training camp to talk about Haslem working out with the players despite being retired and <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article293474114.html" rel="noopener">mentoring players</a> such as Ware according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.</p><p>“It just shows you how unique of a human being and a professional that UD is,” Spoelstra said. “He doesn’t have to do any of this. He doesn’t have to certainly be out here in practice gear and be out here sweating with the guys and working with the guys. That’s why we think we have the structure to be able to help a young big like him succeed.”</p><h2><b>Udonis Haslem made his mark with the rise of Heat’s Bam Adebayo</b></h2><p>As Spoelstra mentioned, Ware is getting the same treatment as Adebayo did when he was starting out with Miami, getting the teachings of Haslem. You know, you got new guys coming in, and you have to explain to them what we’re about, how we’re about, how we move, and just really, it’s not about yourself. You know, every year I come back, and more and more, you start to realize that you’re doing this for something bigger than yourself. Like I said, I didn’t choose to be captain.
