While the <a href="https://cavsnation.com/news/cavs-news-bobby-marks-second-apron-warning-silver-lining" rel="noopener">Cavs should be careful with the second apron</a>, the team could be looking for cheaper options as lateral moves with Oladipo being an interesting development.</p><p>This was brought up by Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor in his latest column where he was asked if the team is done making moves and which position the front office is lookinhg to fill with the 14th roster spot. Fedor would then say that the team was <a href="https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2025/07/are-the-cavs-done-making-roster-improvements-hey-chris.html?outputType=amp" rel="noopener">“in attendance”</a> for a workout in Las Vegas that Oladipo had as he looks to revive his NBA career.</p><p>“The Cavs will remain opportunistic, always looking for potential improvements,” Fedor wrote. “Does an unforeseen maneuver pop up over the next few months? Hard to predict. A source tells Cleveland.com that a member of the front office was in attendance for Victor Oladipo’s recent Vegas-based workout. Oladipo, 33, is trying to resuscitate his NBA career, proving to NBA decision-makers that he is healthy and can still be effective.”</p><p>“Cavs chairman Dan Gilbert was once a massive Oladipo fan, eager to select the bouncy Indiana star with the first-overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft — until David Griffin, assistant general manager at the time, campaigned for UNLV’s Anthony Bennett,” Fedor continued. “The rest is history. Could Gilbert get his man more than a decade later? Does Oladipo fit? As Fedor mentioned, the team can’t afford to give a player more than the veteran’s minimum, which is usually around $3 million, a deal that Oladipo could probably want since he’s been out of the NBA.</p><p>Oladipo last played minutes for the Miami Heat before suffering from a torn patellar tendon in April of 2023 and although he would be traded two more times, he never cameback on the field. Another position that Cleveland could look to is “another versatilie wing” as said by Fedor.</p><p>“It’s hard to pinpoint a specific position,” Fedor wrote. “It seems the Cavs are open-minded, searching for the right stylistic fit. Another versatile wing will always be under consideration given coach Kenny Atkinson’s switch-heavy defensive philosophy. Don’t rule out another ballhandler either.”</p><p>As Fedor mentioned, another ballhandler could be looked at as besides Darius Garland’s injury and recovery; the injury history of Lonzo Ball and the “readiness” of Craig Porter Jr. are in question. At any rate, the Cavs are looking to further improve after finishing first in the East at 64-18, though they were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/indiana-pacers/pacers-news-johnny-furphys-dunk-photo-goes-viral">NBA Summer League continues</a> in Las Vegas, some former players in the league are looking to find their way back onto the court, including former Indiana Pacers star Victor Oladipo. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/indiana-pacers/pacers-news-victor-oladipo-triggers-buzz-with-passionate-tyrese-haliburton-injury-take">Oladipo dealt with</a> a series of devastating injuries that derailed his once-promising career, but he recently participated in a workout with some international pros in Las Vegas in front of a plethora of NBA scouts.</p><p>According to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45742034/2025-nba-summer-league-buzz-intel-storylines-reaction-las-vegas" rel="noopener">the latest reports</a>, Oladipo performed well during the workout.</p><p>“Oladipo played full-court five-on-five in a group workout of international pros. Multiple team sources in attendance came away impressed, with Oladipo described as being in excellent shape as he pursues another comeback,” reported Jeremy Woo of ESPN.</p><p>Woo also reported that “there’s currently some consideration around the league that he might eventually work his way into a roster spot, as teams finalize plans to round out their depth entering the fall.”</p><p>For his part, Oladipo has made no secret of the fact that he wants to return to the NBA landscape, where he was an All-Star on two separate occasions.</p><p>“I feel so great right now!! Better than I felt in the last 7 years mind, body and soul. I know I am a fighter! I know I am a warrior! I have seen every lens this game and this league has to offer. I know I can help any team in any role win in any way! I also know the people want to see me succeed in this game and play at the highest level again. My injuries are behind me and it will never happen again! He and the Pacers were poised to give the Oklahoma City Thunder their all in Game 7 on Sunday night, and he was on track for a monster game after hitting three of his four three-point attempts in the first few minutes, only for him to succumb to injury.</p><p>This proved to be too much for the Pacers to overcome, as they ended up suffering a 103-91 defeat to dash their championship hopes completely.</p><p>Haliburton’s injury set the NBA world ablaze with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-lebron-james-reaction-tyrese-haliburton-injury">LeBron James and Caitlin Clark expressing their support for the Pacers star</a> in the aftermath of his unfortunate injury.</p><p>Joining those with a strong reaction to Haliburton’s injury was former Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, who wanted to <a href="https://x.com/VicOladipo/status/1936959776212009011" rel="noopener">fight the system</a> and stick it to the man, seeing as he’s someone who saw his career get cut short by a serious lower-body injury.</p><p>“In the Finals? So we just going keep playing right? Like its okay right? Like it ain’t happen huh? Like this is just part of it right? But what would this play off run be without Hali?</p><p>“What about Dame what about JT and so many others. I bet we will just blame it on the moment though lol and Hey he got millions right so he will be alright huh? So what truly matters? He ended up declining during the 2018-19 season before rupturing his quad tendon in early 2019. Oladipo then re-injured the same body part in 2021, forcing him to take a veteran minimum.</p><p>He ended up being a member of the 2023 Miami Heat squad that made it to the NBA Finals, but all he could play was three games in that playoff run before he tore his left patellar tendon. That was the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/nba-news-victor-oladipo-cryptic-post-fans-worried">final time Oladipo stepped on an NBA court</a> with injuries ending his career at just 31 years of age.</p><p>This is why Oladipo is going to be a loud voice when it comes to protecting players. It’s not quite clear what the former Pacers guard is lobbying for, but it’s safe to say that he wants the NBA to step up in terms of shielding their talent from injuries. Their stars have been dropping like flies due to Achilles injuries, and Oladipo doesn’t want anyone to suffer the same fate he did.</p><p>Perhaps some of the changes the NBA can make is to shorten the season, loosen the restrictions for award eligibility (from 65 games to perhaps 60 or even 55) to encourage more rest and load management and increase the number of rest days between playoff games.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After how the Indiana Pacers handled Victor Oladipo’s time with the team, it seems what Indiana did in the dark is <a href="https://youtu.be/KiUXtohPzTM?list=PLD0QspPd_-NcD-Fqnkd3A-L41dmE1IJWi&amp;t=4255" rel="noopener">starting to emerge</a>. Oladipo was a guest on Udonis Haslem’s <i>OGs Show</i>. The two former teammates spoke about Oladipo’s time with the Pacers. Oladipo quickly shut down the rumors of him rejecting a $160 million contract that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-rumors-victor-oladipo-turned-down-insulting-4-year-80-million-extension-before-season">Indiana offered him</a> and noted that they offered him a much lower contract. Oladipo added that the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-victor-oladipo-wants-stay-claims-indiana-president">Pacers traded him after his knee surgery</a> didn’t work. Doctors and others told him he was healing correctly from a nasty knee injury, which wasn’t true, and the Pacers knew it.</p><p>“I never, ever, got offered $160 million. Maybe one day in the future. [They offered] three years, $80 [million]. It’s less than what I had but pretty much about the same. My doctors and everybody was telling me I was getting healthier, even though, unfortunately, my surgery wasn’t done correctly.</p><p>“I made that decision thinking I was getting better. And then, in my first three or four games in Indy that year, I averaged 20. That’s why they traded me. Inside scoop, they knew my sh*t was f**ked up too. … That’s pretty much what happened, never got $160 million, I would’ve took it.”</p><h2><b>What happened to Victor Oladipo after the Pacers traded him?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Victor-Oladipo-Dribbles-Pacers.jpg"><figcaption>Thomas B. Shea-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>At the time, Oladipo was a two-time All-Star and one of the league’s promising young prospects. So, he would have felt justified in holding out for more money than the Pacers were offering him, which would have been a marginal increase in his annual salary.</p><p>The Pacers may also have considered his knee injury when offering him a new contract. But in the end, the Pacers made the right call, as harsh as it may have been on Oladipo, trading him to the Rockets as part of the James Harden-Brooklyn Nets deal.</p><p>After 20 games with the Rockets, Oladipo was traded to the Heat and signed a $2 million contract with them after his original contract expired. After impressing Miami officials, he signed a two-year, $18 million contract that paid him until 2023.</p><p>In April 2023, Oladipo tore his patellar tendon in the Eastern Conference Finals. A few months later, the Heat traded Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder traded Oladipo to Houston before the 2023-24 season started. Before he could even suit up for the Rockets, Oladipo was shipped to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the Steven Adams trade. Oladipo was waived by Memphis soon after and hasn’t been a presence on an NBA roster since.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After 13 seasons, Klay Thompson decided to leave the Warriors in free agency; while this was necessary for both parties as the situation had gone south over the past two years, this still leaves a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/why-stephen-curry-warriors-believe-relevancy-klay-thompson-loss">major void for the Dubs at shooting guard</a> — the position Thompson has filled since he came into the league in 2011.</p><p>Now, the Warriors have assembled for themselves a solid roster with a ton of depth in the aftermath of Thompson’s departure. They brought in De’Anthony Melton and Buddy Hield, two shooting guards who can help replace Thompson’s production, while they also have an in-house option in Brandin Podziemski who could take on a larger role in his sophomore season.</p><p>It’s not quite clear yet who head coach Steve Kerr will name as the Warriors’ starter in the backcourt alongside Stephen Curry. But for Victor Oladipo, who made an appearance on ESPN as an analyst, the choice for the Dubs <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/1844102381136445946" rel="noopener">is rather clear</a>.</p><p>“All three players are great in their own right. But if I had to choose to pair next to Steph, I would have to go with De’Anthony Melton,” Oladipo said. “He’s shot pretty much 38 percent from three his whole career. Melton has a quick release and he can space the floor via catch-and-shoots, and he can also <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-brandin-podziemski-identifies-gary-payton-iis-twin-brother-on-roster">pick up opposing ballhandlers</a> from 94 feet the way he did against James Harden on Saturday. Moreover, he has the motor to make things happen, whether by being disruptive or by fighting for loose balls.</p><p>The fight for the starting job will continue on for the rest of preseason and training camp. But skillset-wise, Melton does indeed make a ton of sense for the Warriors as Curry’s backcourt partner.</p><h2><b>Warriors conduct three-way battle for starting SG spot</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Steve-Kerr-and-Stephen-Curry-with-the-Warriors.jpg"></figure><p>Not many teams have the luxury of choice when it comes to who to start at shooting guard. The Warriors, in that regard, are fortunate. The three options that they have as a potential starter at the two also provide different dimensions to the team. Now, it remains unclear which dimension the Warriors will be prioritizing.</p><p>If the Warriors want better two-way balance, they could start De’Anthony Melton alongside Stephen Curry. Melton has the length and instincts to smother opposing ballhandlers, and he is active in the passing lanes as well. He is a streaky shooter, however, and he doesn’t provide much playmaking. But he is far and away the best perimeter defender the Warriors have at either guard position.</p><p>If they want a player who can keep the offense humming, Brandin Podziemski is their guy. Podziemski has impeccable feel for the game, and his movement off the basketball as well as his understanding of the Warriors system has made him a favorite within the organization.</p><p>With the departure of Klay Thompson, the Warriors could then roll with one of the greatest shooters of all time to replace him in Buddy Hield. Only Curry has <a href="https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=player+with+most+3+pointers+made+nba+since+2016-17">made more triples</a> than Hield since the latter began his NBA career in 2016.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
