BIOGRAPHY
Zion Williamson currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Born on July 06, 2000 in Salisbury, North Carolina, Zion is listed at 6' 7" and weighs 284 lbs. His size has been, unfortunately, a large talking point throughout his entire playing career.
Williamson went to high school at Spartanburg Day School (SC). One of the most hyped high school recruits in the country, with YouTube clips dominating social media for years at that point, then committed to play for the famed Duke Blue Devils.
After just one season at Duke, where he played alongside fellow NBA talents in Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett, Zion was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans as the #1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Entering the league, experts were thrilled and giddy in excitement over Zion’s actual abilities, but there were some concerns about his size. Not that he was big, but they believed it to be difficult to project his play, as there has simply been no player like Williamson in the NBA’s storied history.
