As many fans predicted heading into the campaign, the Kings’ offense features an ugly barrage of bricked mid-range jumpers from players like DeMar DeRozan, Westbrook, and Domantas Sabonis, more closely resembling a 2009 NBA offense than one that can thrive in 2025-26.</p><p>Making matters worse is the fact that the Kings have little to nothing in the way of young talent on their team, with veterans like those three and Zach LaVine soaking up most of the minutes and not delivering winning results.</p><p>It should come as no surprise at this point that the Kings have been enveloped in trade rumors as their season continues to spiral, but it’s certainly worth wondering what exactly the team could get for some of its veterans considering the way they’ve played this year.</p><p>The Kings will next take the floor on Saturday evening against the Miami Heat on the road at 8:00 pm ET.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The 37-year-old point guard reached 26,498 career points after scoring his eighth point on Wednesday. Duncan finished his career with 26,496 points.</p><p>“Russell Westbrook has reached yet another incredible NBA milestone. With his eighth point in the second quarter of the Kings’ game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night, the star point guard reached a total of 26,498 career points, passing Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tim Duncan (26,496 points) for 17th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.”</p><p>The nine-time All-Star currently has 26,502 total points scored throughout his career, and that number will continue to grow. He’ll have the opportunity to potentially surpass Dominque Wilkins next, who sits at No. 16 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 26,668 points. Although Sacramento led by a point at halftime, Houston stormed through the third quarter, outscoring the Kings 36-19 and finishing the stretch with a 30-8 run in the final eight minutes.</p><p>Rookie center Maxime Raynaud was the only King who managed to rise above the rubble. Off the bench, the 22-year-old impressed with a career-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting, six rebounds, and three assists, including two made three-pointers. His previous high of 19 points came just four nights earlier against the Utah Jazz, and he also contributed nine points and six rebounds against the Memphis Grizzlies.</p><p>Sacramento head coach Doug Christie acknowledged Raynaud’s potential <a href="https://www.sacbee.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/article313371374.html" rel="noopener">to earn a starting role</a>, following the loss, saying:</p><p>“Absolutely. It’s a definite, definite thought. I thought about (doing) it tonight. … I definitely consider it. Going forward, everything’s on the table,” (h/t Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee).</p><p>The Kings were forced to play their cards without Domantas Sabonis, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/sacramento-kings/kings-news-domantas-sabonis-significant-time-partially-torn-meniscus-knee">who’s still dealing with a partially torn left meniscus</a>.</p><p>Sacramento’s frontcourt had its hands full against the Rockets’ imposing lineup, particularly Steven Adams and Alperen Sengun. Houston wiped the glass 62–32 and punished the Kings in the paint, 78–46.</p><p>Malik Monk also contributed 25 points, 14 coming in the fourth quarter, but Sacramento could not overcome the offensive avalanche the Rockets unleashed, led by Sengun’s 28, Kevin Durant’s 24, and Amen Thompson’s 20.</p><p>The Kings’ star scorers, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, were ineffective. LaVine managed just two points, shooting 1-of-5 and playing only 5:13 in the second half, whereas DeRozan’s 12 points all came before halftime. In a milestone moment, Russell Westbrook recorded eight points and five assists, surpassing Tim Duncan for 17th on the all-time scoring list during the second quarter.</p><p>Sacramento’s offense lacked flow, slowed by turnovers and poor spacing. The Kings entered the contest ranked last in the NBA in made three-pointers and led the league in mid-range attempts per game. Given the fact that Sabonis’ return is still a week or two away, Christie may consider tweaking the starting lineup to incorporate Raynaud’s scoring and floor spacing.</p><p>Christie rotated a bench-heavy unit late in the fourth, featuring Raynaud, Monk, Keon Ellis, Nique Clifford, and Keegan Murray, attempting to light a fire that never caught.</p><p>It was Sacramento’s fourth straight defeat, dropping them to 5-17 on the season. After trading De’Aaron Fox last season and entering the year with several former All-Stars on their roster, like DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Domantas Sabonis, and Russell Westbrook, there was hope that the Kings would be able to hold their own.</p><p>That has not been the case, and after losing 115-107 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night, the Kings now find themselves at 5-16 overall, near the bottom of the NBA standings.</p><p>Frustrations have already begun to set in for Sacramento and their star players, and DeRozan <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOezTBoNnEI" rel="noopener">let this be known</a> with his thoughts on where he and the team are at.</p><p>“Putting one foot in front of the next. Keep going forward,” DeRozan said in response to what he’s solely focused on right now, via Sactown Sports 1140. “It’s easy to dwell on a negative. (And) be frustrated, but you got to worry about the next game and try to get one game at a time.”</p><p>Although this sounds like a veteran leader who is willing to do what is needed to help his team succeed, DeRozan’s next response to whether change is “necessary” is what has raised some eyebrows.</p><p>“I mean, that ain’t up to me,” DeRozan responded about the possibility of change. “You know, my job is to come in here, do whatever is needed, (and) try to make us get a win, you know? That’s all I can control.”</p><p>DeRozan has heard his name come up in trade rumors as of late, and he has been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-rumors-clippers-demar-derozan-trade-buzz-louder-kings-eye-blow-up">linked the most by multiple reports to the Los Angeles Clippers</a>. Several other teams around the league could also <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/buy-or-sell-latest-nba-intel-trade-rumors-ja-morant-anthony-davis-domantas-sabonis">begin to show trade interest in the veteran</a> as the holiday season approaches, especially given his contract.</p><p>Unlike most All-Star talents making $40 million or more, DeRozan’s cap hit for the 2025-26 NBA season is just $24.75 million, which will allow multiple teams to explore the possibility of adding him.</p><p>From the Kings’ perspective, it may make a lot of sense to trade the 36-year-old.</p><p>After all, this team is simply not what new GM Scott Perry expected it to be, and it’s hard to imagine that DeRozan would be a part of this organization’s long-term future plans.</p><p>Between now and the trade deadline, it continues to look increasingly likely that DeRozan will be on the move, and his comments surrounding how the organization could be on the verge of making changes further cements his mindset of likely wanting a fresh start.</p><p>In 21 games this season with the Kings, DeRozan has averaged 18.4 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor. Many immediately assumed that he got mad because he lost a bet. The Kings lost to the Suns, 112-100.</p><p>Carter has explained his side of the story in a video posted on Instagram. He claimed that <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DRkl1uhElyl/" rel="noopener">he was only disgusted</a> by LaVine’s performance.</p><p>After not one, not two, not three, not four, but after the sixth time Zach LaVine leaves his man wide open for a three, Doug Christie calls a timeout and they come over to the bench. I say, ‘Yo, we don’t pay to watch you not play defense.’ Then Zach LaVine looks at me and says, ‘Then go home, n****.'”</p><p>From there, Carter said he refused to back down.</p><p>“I started letting him have it. I was like, ‘No, I pay to be here! You go home! You’re getting paid over $40 million, you only got eight points, and we’re in the fourth quarter. You didn’t show up! Once again, you didn’t show up!'”</p><p>“All these fans in Sacramento, they deserve better than that. A grueling schedule highlighted by numerous back-to-backs, along with some unfortunate injury issues, has led to an underwhelming start to the 2025-26 season. Stephen Curry will only be able to carry the team on his back for so much longer, and even he was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-out-at-least-a-week-with-quad-injury">injured in Golden State’s most recent game.</a></p><p>The Warriors are one of the <a href="https://bookies.com/news/youngest-and-oldest-nba-teams-2025-26-average-age-for-all-nba-teams" rel="noopener">oldest teams</a> in the NBA. They may have to add a big-name player before the trade deadline to put themselves in true championship contention. The Warriors have long needed big man help, and that has been evident this year because Draymond Green has been forced to play small-ball five way more than is optimal.</p><p>Luckily, some star frontcourt players have already been thrown around in trade rumors. Both Anthony Davis and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/nba-rumors-insider-sets-record-straight-domantas-sabonis-warriors-trade-theories">Domantas Sabonis are trade candidates</a> who could make some sense for the Warriors, but which player would be a better fit in Golden State?</p><h2><b>The case for Anthony Davis</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Anthony-Davis-jump-shot-practice.jpg"><figcaption>John Hefti-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>On paper, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/nba-rumors-is-anthony-davis-a-trade-option-for-warriors">Davis would be a fantastic fit with the Warriors</a>. However, Davis’ whole intrigue is based on hypotheticals. He and Green would form an electric frontcourt duo, considering both are among the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/25-greatest-defenders-nba-history-ranked">best defensive players ever.</a> Teams would have a hard time scoring inside on the Warriors, and both Green and Davis are versatile enough to defend out on the perimeter, too.</p><p>Offensively, Davis would add a dynamic that the Warriors never had during their dynasty. He can score inside, outside, or off the bounce. Most Warriors’ centers during the Curry era have been limited to rim running and play-finishing, with the exception being Quinten Post, who can knock down catch-and-shoot 3-pointers but doesn’t do much else.</p><p>However, a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/inside-anthony-davis-lakers-feud-new-details-reveal-luka-doncic-trade-spark">Davis trade would have to include either the contract of Green or Jimmy Butler</a>, in addition to role players like Buddy Hield, and/or Moses Moody, and/or Jonathan Kuminga. The aging Warriors already have some depth problems, and Davis can’t be relied upon to play on a nightly basis. The often-injured 10-time All-Star has only played in 14 games for the Dallas Mavericks since they shockingly traded for him.</p><p>His tenure in Dallas has been so disastrous that the team already <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/dallas-mavericks/mavericks-news-nico-harrison-getting-fired">fired Nico Harrison,</a> and now they seem desperate to get out of Davis’ three-year contract. Davis holds less trade value than Sabonis, so it wouldn’t take much draft capital to add him, but the contracts wouldn’t match up without giving up way too much.</p><p>Butler has been a great fit with the Warriors, and Green will likely be a lifelong member of the franchise. With so few years of contention left, the Warriors can’t take a gamble as great as adding Davis would be, especially not for what it would cost to trade for him.</p><h2><b>Why Domantas Sabonis is the better fit for the Warriors</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Domantas-Sabonis-Warriors.jpg"><figcaption>Sergio Estrada-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Sabonis, like Green, can operate out of the high post and facilitate to shooters. This strategy has long worked wonders for Curry, and it would only enhance the Warriors’ offense. Furthermore, Sabonis has long been one of the best rebounders in the NBA. He led the league in double-doubles last year and rebounds per game in each of the last three seasons.</p><p>On a team that likes to shoot the deep ball as much as Golden State, having someone who can scoop up second-chance opportunities would be a luxury. Sabonis’ screen-setting ability would also complement the roster well. While <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/sacramento-kings/kings-rumors-domantas-sabonis-doug-christie">Sabonis is currently out with a meniscus injury,</a> he is typically reliable when it comes to staying on the court. The Warriors would need to, of course, ensure the medicals are clean before trading for him, but he’d be a really great fit in Golden State.</p><p>Sabonis isn’t the defensive player that Davis is, and it may take some draft capital to acquire him, but the Warriors could hold onto most of their core while pulling off a Sabonis trade. Moody, Buddy Hield, and Jonathan Kuminga could be used in a trade, the latter of whom was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/sacramento-kings/nba-rumors-insider-insists-kings-believe-jonathan-kuminga-wants-to-sign-there">linked to Sacramento all offseason long.</a></p><p>The Kings seem poised to blow things up, and their known interest in Kuminga could make doing business with a Sabonis trade relatively simple. Sabonis is only 29 years old, too, so not only could he help the Warriors out this year, but he could contribute even after Curry, Butler, and Green move on.</p><p>In all likelihood, a trade for either Davis or Sabonis won’t be easy to pull off. Both players come at a steep price tag and have plenty of red flags. The Warriors just might have to make a splashy move, though, and if it came down to choosing Davis or Sabonis, the Kings’ star would be the right choice.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

We play as hard as we can. We’re in here exhausted, so I don’t know,” said LaVine, per James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>Overall, it’s been a disastrous season for the Kings so far, something that many fans saw coming before the season even started. The Kings have essentially constructed an older, worse version of the 2022 Chicago Bulls, a team that flamed out in the first round of the playoffs in five games, and are now mired in trade rumors as the season wears on.</p><p>It remains to be seen what kind of market exists for aging players like LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, or even big man Domantas Sabonis, whose deficiencies as a rim protector and floor spacer are well-documented by this point in his career.</p><p>The Kings aren’t exactly brimming with young talent either, as players like Keon Ellis aren’t even seeing many minutes in head coach Doug Christie’s rotation.</p><p>Overall, things have been better in Sacramento, and that’s saying something, considering the franchise doesn’t have an abundance of glory days to choose from, especially not recently.</p><p>The Kings will next take the floor on Friday evening on the road against the Utah Jazz.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
