Well, you've come to the right place.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Dallas Cowboys</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>When news broke that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-rumors-dallas-not-signing-jadeveon-clowney">Jadeveon Clowney left his visit with the Dallas Cowboys</a> without signing a new contract, fans more or less shut the door on the potential Micah Parsons replacement.</p><p>Maybe they shouldn’t have.</p><p>Discussing the Cowboys’ interest in Clowney and what he could bring to the organization with reporters on Friday, Stephen Jones noted that his team is very much still interested in the former first overall pick and believes he <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1966605373726450031" rel="noopener">could make a difference</a> if they can get him under contract.</p><p>“We had a great visit with him. He wanted to come in and see what we’re about. Obviously, he’s the true ultimate veteran. I think that was a get to know you session. He wanted to get to know what our organization is about, Coach Schottenheimer and his staff, (DL coach Aaron Whitecotton), and then (DC Matt Eberflus). He wanted to see the facilities, get a feel for us. And I think he came away very positive and we came away very positive as well,” Jones said via The Athletic’s Jon Machota.</p><p>“I think after losing (Micah Parsons), (Clowney) can do a lot of things to help us. … To add a piece like Jadeveon could really be helpful to us, and we’ll see where that goes here over the next few days.”</p><p>Taking things a step further, Jones noted that while Clowney may not be an every-down rusher anymore in 2025, he could still be an effective performer for Matt Eberflus’ defense if deployed correctly.</p><p>“We as an organization felt like any time you lose a piece like Micah and don’t replace it right away, we certainly added to the interior with (Kenny Clark), but we’re obviously missing something there on the outside. We felt like that was a strength, in spite of the fact we’re losing Micah with the group we have there, but when you have the opportunity to bring a guy in like him, and we did a lot of film work on him leading up to this, and really felt like he can bring something that can be very helpful to us. I think he’s very disruptive. He certainly has production as well,” Jones said.</p><p>“And it’s not like we’re going to ask him to go in there and play 60 plays. We want to get a number of pass rushes out of him every game and a number of really good plays. And we think he can be disrupted on those and could make a difference if we could figure out how to get him signed and get him on this football team.”</p><p>Will the Cowboys ultimately sign Clowney to help bolster their defensive front? The Cowboys played well in their opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, but fell short, losing 24-20. A few days after the loss, the Cowboys were hit with a brutal injury to a star player.</p><p>DaRon Bland recently injured his foot during practice on Monday, and the injury appears to be serious. It has already been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-daron-bland-could-miss-multiple-weeks-foot-injury">reported that he could miss a couple of weeks</a>. However, when asked on Friday, head coach Brian Schottenheimer <a href="https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1966538435537092726" rel="noopener">did not want to put </a><a href="https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1966538435537092726">a timeline</a> on Bland’s injury.</p><p>“I’m not gonna put a timetable on it.”</p><p>If all goes well, there is a chance that Bland can play in Week 3. If Schottenheimer isn’t ready to rule him out for that contest yet, then anything is possible. Having Bland in the secondary alongside Trevon Diggs is critical for the Cowboys’ success on that side of the ball. The issue is that those two have hardly played together. Last Thursday night marked the fourth time over the last two seasons that both Bland and Diggs were on the field together.</p><p>Defensive coordinator <a href="https://x.com/WerderEdNFL/status/1966187793010356430" rel="noopener">Matt Eberflus</a> also said on Wednesday that there is no timetable for his return. Diggs’ snap count will increase, which is a good sign for his progress. Overall, it is not fun seeing stars off the field. However, this situation could be a lot worse. A Week 2 win against your biggest rival will make all of this go away.</p><p>The Cowboys still have some talent at corner. Kaiir Elam will start opposite Diggs. Reddy Shepard, C.J. When<a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1966251082755223785" rel="noopener"> asked about his track record</a> against New York, the 32-year-old chose to focus on Sunday’s mission.</p><p>“Hope to keep that going, that’s the plan,” Prescott told Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Studying, preparing, doing everything in my power to make sure that I’m prepared to keep that going.”</p><p>Across 15 games against the Giants, Prescott earned a 13-2 record, tossed 29 touchdowns, and recorded 3,915 passing yards. Then we’re going to be proud of the outcome of this game.”</p><p>The Giants were defeated 21-6 by the Washington Commanders in Week 1. The star would later be shut down that season in Week 16 with an AC joint sprain, with Lamb saying that he will have <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/cowboys-ceedee-lamb-targeting-giants-cb-i-got-something-for-him/" rel="noopener">“something”</a> for Phillips when the two face off, according to CBS Sports.</p><p>“He tackled me and hurt me, so I’ve got something for him. For sure.” Lamb said.</p><p>Besides the matchup against Phillips, there is no doubt that Lamb wants to redeem himself after big drops against the Eagles that could’ve swayed the game in Dallas’ favor. He would even say Thursday that he did not get any ready “that whole weekend,” showing the type of competitor he is, despite catching seven passes for 110 yards.</p><p>“I didn’t get any rest, really, that whole weekend. That’s the competitor that I am and how much I’m true to the game as far as being honest and just giving it everything I got because I do love this game,” Lamb said. “I love this squad, and I love the guys that I do it with. What was apparently supposed to be a meeting about leadership veered into contract talks. Malik has worked in entertainment and sports, and he specializes in the NBA and NFL.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Dallas Cowboys</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Dallas Cowboys played a good game against the Philadelphia Eagles in their season opener, and it came down to the final minutes to decide the game. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-ceedee-lamb-accountability-terrible-drops-eagles">CeeDee Lamb had several chances</a> to make big plays to get the Cowboys another score, but he dropped some crucial passes that he may not forget.</p><p>It looks like Lamb is still thinking about those dropped passes, and <a href="https://x.com/clarencehilljr/status/1966248001912922525" rel="noopener">he spoke about</a> how he hasn’t been able to get much sleep because of it.</p><p>“I didn’t get any rest, really that whole weekend, again that’s the competitor that I am and how much I’m true to the game as far as being honest and just giving it everything I got because I do love this game,” Lamb said. “I love this squad and I love the guys that I do it with. As for me, just holding my end of the bargain and just pulling through for the guys.”</p><p>Though Lamb had those dropped passes, he still had a big game, finishing with seven receptions for 110 yards. The Cowboys’ offense was fluid for most of the game, and that should be a good sign for what’s to come for the season.</p><p>Lamb knows that he needs to be better in those situations, and there’s no doubt that he will be, as he’s one of the top receivers in the league. The Cowboys will have a good chance to bounce back against the New York Giants, who struggled with the Washington Commanders in Week 1.</p><p>If the Cowboys can generate the same offense they did against the Eagles, it should be a game where they’re able to score consistently. Lamb should be a big part of that happening, but the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-george-pickens-takes-team-first-stance-asked-lack-targets">Cowboys also have players such as George Pickens</a> who can go out and make plays when he gets the ball.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Now the Cowboys are doing whatever they can to improve and get their season headed in the right direction. That starts with imploring their players to perform better.</p><p>Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1966195209823465811" rel="noopener">did not hold back</a> when talking about Mazi Smith. Eberflus explained what Smith needs to improve about his game.</p><p>“Just consistency. He’s done that, just at a more consistent level. That’s really it,” Eberflus said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “That’s been our message to him throughout the building. He’s improving on that, for sure.”</p><p>This is not the first time that the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-brian-schottenheimer-opens-mazi-smith-absence">Cowboys have pleaded for consistency from Smith</a>.</p><p>In fact, it seems that Eberflus was merely echoing Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer with his remarks on Thursday.</p><p>Schottenheimer cited consistency as the reason why he did not play in Week 1.</p><p>“Mazi is a good player. The flashes are there. It’s just that the consistency has to be there more often,” Schottenheimer said. “Just because you were inactive last week doesn’t mean you’ll be inactive this week.”</p><p>Smith should heed the advice of his coaches. Otherwise, he could be phased out of Dallas’ defense.</p><h2><b>Cowboys preparing for Week 2 matchup against Giants</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Cowboys-QB-Dak-Prescott.jpg"><figcaption>Bill Streicher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Winning fixes everything in the NFL. Perhaps a Week 2 win could have the Cowboys, and their fans, more optimistic about the 2025 season.</p><p>The New York Giants should be an attractive opponent for a get-right game.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-york-giants/giants-most-blame-week-1-loss-commanders">New York suffered an embarrassing loss in Week 1</a> against Washington. That game revealed that Russell Wilson may not be the right quarterback for the Giants. It certainly doesn’t help to have Jaxson Dart sitting in the wings.</p><p>Dallas would benefit greatly from more turmoil in New York. If the Cowboys can cook up a great defensive plan, they will have an easy path to winning in Week 2.</p><p>The Giants have a dangerous defense, so it will not be an easy path. They meet each other in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season, and here are bold predictions for the NFC East matchup.</p><p>Dallas came up on the short end of a 24-20 decision against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Meanwhile, the Giants were hammered by the Washington Commanders, 21-6.</p><p>Therefore, this turns out to be a critical early season contest. The loser will be 0–2, with both of those losses coming in the division.</p><h2><b>Giants QB Russell Wilson will bounce back</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/New-York-Giants-QB-Russell-Wilson.jpg"><figcaption>Amber Searls-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Wilson turned in a pitiful performance against the Commanders. He completed only 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards and couldn’t get the team in the end zone.</p><p>It doesn’t hurt matters that Wilson won’t have to deal with a full Cowboys’ secondary. Star cornerback DaRon Bland, who recently signed a big contract extension, is likely out for multiple weeks with a foot injury.</p><p>Bland’s $92 million deal with $50 million guaranteed made him the sixth-highest-paid cornerback in the league.</p><p>That doesn’t automatically mean Wilson will have a big day, but it helps. And Wilson is approaching the situation with a strong mindset. He knows rookie Jaxon Dart is waiting in the wings, but he’s <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6617801/2025/09/11/russell-wilson-giants-cowboys-remarkable-career/" rel="noopener">keeping his head down</a> and working hard, according to The Athletic.</p><p>“I think that you embrace challenge; I don’t think I’ve run from challenges,” Wilson said Wednesday while wearing his red No. 3 practice jersey. “I don’t think I’ve run from anything.</p><p>“For me, personally, my confidence never blinks. I’ve been through everything. I’ve been through all the biggest highs there could be. I’ve been through a few lows. But at the same time, I also know my confidence never wavers. The great part is that I thank God every day that I’ve got breath. I’ve got lungs. I’ve got the ability to play this game. The game that I love, and I get to do it with great guys and great people around this building. My mission is always to lead today and to do that the best way possible.”</p><p>Look for Wilson to make hay with wide receiver Malik Nabers and reach 250 yards passing. Also, look for Wilson to connect on two scoring passes.</p><h2><b>Giants’ defense will sack Dak three times</b></h2><p>Dak Prescott left the season opener with a clean jersey. With Eagles’ star pass rusher Jalen Carter taking a break after a first-seconds ejection, Dak rocked on the porch behind his offensive line and found receivers. He will likely have less time against the Giants’ revamped attack.</p><p>But head coach Brian Daboll showed respect for Dak.</p><p>“Offensively, I think Dak played really well in the first game,” Daboll said. “Decisive, I think he’s a heck of a quarterback as it is. But [he] was accurate. I think [head coach Brian Schottemheimer] had him in the flow, did a good job of mixing in run, pass, controlling the line of scrimmage. I wouldn’t say [Dak] he had a ton of production the first game.”</p><p>Schottenheimer <a href="https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cowboys/2025/09/09/cowboys-schottenheimer-on-russell-wilson-jackson-dart-giants-front/86055618007/" rel="noopener">said he respects</a> the Giants’ defensive front, according to cowboyswire.com.</p><p>“This is an incredible front coming in here,” Schottenheimer said. “They’ve obviously added Abdul Carter, high draft pick, good player. But with Dexter [Lawrence] inside, and [Brian] Burns, and [Kayvon] Thibideaux. And [I’m a] big Bobby Okereke fan. I think he’s a hell of a football player.”</p><p>Still, it’s going to take a shocker for the Giants to win with Dak at the controls. The Giants haven’t won in Dallas since Prescott’s NFL debut back in Week 1 of the 2016 season. They also beat the Cowboys later that year, but they haven’t put a knockout glove on him since then.</p><p>“If we play as physical as we did the other night,” Schottenheimer said. “We play with the discipline that we had the other night. Then I think we’ll feel good going into most weeks that we’ll find a way to get a victory.”</p><h2><b>Cowboys WR George Pickens will break loose</b></h2><p>The Cowboys have to keep Pickens happy, or he will be a problem in the locker room. Four targets and 30 total yards won’t make Pickens happy. The Cowboys fed CeeDee Lamb because they were facing the Eagles. Look for them to get Pickens involved more early in the game.</p><p>The stat line should look more like eight targets, and somewhere in the range of 80-plus yards, or better.</p><p>Pickens is <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/cowboys-george-pickens-not-really-worried-about-targets-catches/" rel="noopener">playing the good-teammate</a> card, so far, according to CBS Sports.</p><p>“Just really staying open for them [Schottenheimer and Prescott],” Pickens said. “I’m not really worried about the touches, catches, all that stuff. I’m just trying to stay open for the team. The Dallas Cowboys were able to get Kenny Clark in return from the trade, but apparently, they <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46208962/nfl-week-2-buzz-news-updates-fantasy-intel-questions-predictions" rel="noopener">had their eyes</a> on somebody else on the Packers, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.</p><p>“Staying on Green Bay, I’m told pass rusher Rashan Gary — who produced 1.5 sacks Sunday against Detroit — was a part of Dallas’ internal trade discussion on the Micah Parsons deal,” Fowler wrote. “The Cowboys were looking to add a premier defensive player, and Gary’s name came up in the building before the move.</p><p>“The Cowboys ultimately wanted Kenny Clark, focused on defensive tackle play and run stopping, but Gary as a Cowboy was at least a notion kicked around at The Star. Despite losing Clark, Green Bay now has a vicious three-man pass rush with Parsons, Gary and Lukas Van Ness, who can play inside or outside.”</p><p>In the end, the Cowboys were able to get the player they wanted, and it was somebody who could stop the run. For the Packers, they got someone who can wreck the front line, and he’s one of the best in the league to do so.</p><h2><b>Micah Parsons describes debut with Packers</b></h2><p>In Parsons’ first game with the Packers, he felt the energy of the crowd as soon as he stepped on the field. After their win against the Lions, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/green-bay-packers/packers-debut-gave-micah-parsons-chills">he shared his thoughts on his debut</a> with his new team.</p><p>“I can’t lie, it gave me chills,” Parsons told the national television audience. “This environment, the first time, how they embraced me. This was one of one and it was a blessing in disguise. [Jordan] Love told me it would be this nice, but nothing he said could have told me how nice it would be.”</p><p>The Packers dominated the Lions on defense, and though Parsons didn’t play all the snaps, when he was on the field, he made a difference. This is what the Packers should expect for the remainder of the season and in the future, as Parsons is a true game-changer. He has had a passion for sports his entire life, and enjoys covering and writing about all sports.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Dallas Cowboys</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Dallas Cowboys have been looking for help on the edge ever since trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, and they tried to address that by <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-looking-replace-micah-parsons-jadeveon-clowney">bringing in veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney for a visit</a> on Wednesday.</p><p>Clowney worked out for the team, but he left Dallas <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1965900250243379554" rel="noopener">without receiving a contract</a>, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.</p><p>That isn’t entirely abnormal for a free agent to do, although some players do get a contract lined up with a team on the day that they visit. However, Clowney may not be coming back to Dallas as a Cowboy at all. The Cowboys are reportedly <a href="https://x.com/clarencehilljr/status/1965895622508331216" rel="noopener">not expected to sign</a> Clowney after this visit, according to Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Sports.</p><p>“Early word from inside the star is the Cowboys are ‘probably not going to’ sign Jadeveon Clowney,” Hill wrote on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>The Cowboys have a deep edge room, but they currently lack a true difference maker at the position after offloading Parsons for Kenny Clark and a pair of first-round picks at the end of a long contract standoff that resulted in a hold-in from the star pass rusher during training camp. Dante Fowler Jr., James Houston, Sam Williams, Marshawn Kneeland and rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku are now expected to get a majority of the snaps at defensive end with Parsons gone.</p><p>Despite those quality players, the Cowboys defensive line was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/eagles-news-saquon-barkley-100-declaration-jalen-hurts">unable to contain Jalen Hurts</a> in Week 1, as the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback repeatedly hurt the Cowboys defense with his scrambling. However, the Dallas defensive line did do an impressive job stopping the run, which was something that Jerry Jones highlighted as a point of emphasis coming out of the Parsons trade.</p><p>Clowney was seen as a potential fit in Dallas due to his run-stopping specialty. While his pass-rushing production never lived up to the billing for a No. 1 overall pick, Clowney was an elite run-stopper for a number of teams during his career and still can be that for a team this season. Now, it looks like that team will not be the Cowboys.</p><p>Dallas is 0-1 after its 24-20 loss to the Eagles on opening night and will look to get into the win column on Sunday against the New York Giants in another NFC East tilt.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Another divisional opponent, the New York Giants, awaits Dallas on Sunday. Unfortunately, the task of getting that first win just got a bit harder. According to team beat reporter Todd Archer on X (formerly Twitter), cornerback DaRon Bland will <a href="https://x.com/toddarcher/status/1965909823343759737" rel="noopener">miss “a couple of weeks”</a> due to a foot injury.</p><p>“The Dallas Cowboys could be without cornerback DaRon Bland for a couple of weeks because of a right foot injury suffered in Monday’s practice, according to multiple sources,” reported Archer.</p><p>It’s a big blow for the Cowboys’ defense. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cowboys-news-daron-bland-dumbfounded-admission-inking-new-contract">Bland is the team’s starting nickelback</a>, a ball hawk that loves to create turnovers. He recently resigned with the team for another four seasons. Dallas rewarded his play with $92 million on that deal. Now, he’ll miss the Giants matchup in addition to Week 3’s tilt at the Chicago Bears. They also have capable backups at those spots, plus the recently acquired Trikweze Bridges, a seventh-rounder in this past April’s draft.</p><p>Steward saw action with the Chicago Bears last season, notching his first career NFL tackle. He was also with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year before the Cowboys brought him in via waivers. Now, it looks as if he’s slated to replace Bland, at least for now. For both Dallas and their latest resigning, the goal is to get back to 100 percent as quickly as possible. While it was a solid day for the Cowboys offense, the defense was unable to do much of anything to stop Jalen Hurts and company, which resulted in a narrow loss for Dallas.</p><p>Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had some crucial drops down the stretch that stopped the Cowboys from really making things interesting, which came at the expense of newly acquired wide receiver George Pickens, who was playing his first game in a Dallas uniform after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason.</p><p>On Wednesday, Pickens spoke on his lack of targets in his debut game with the Cowboys, and gave <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1965882541262725320" rel="noopener">a selfless outlook</a> on the situation.</p><p>“Really just staying open for them. I’m not really worried about the touches, catches, all that stuff. I’m just trying to stay open for the team. I’m trying to focus on (getting) the first win,” said Pickens.</p><h2><b>Can the Cowboys turn it around?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Cowboys-wide-receiver-George-Pickens.jpg"><figcaption>Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Entering this year, the Dallas Cowboys were expected to have somewhat of a high octane offense and a challenged defense in the wake of their shocking trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.</p><p>That was exactly what unfolded on Thursday night in Philadelphia, as Dak Prescott put together a fine game against an elite Eagles defensive unit (albeit one playing without Jalen Carter), but the Cowboys’ defense was unable to get much pressure on Jalen Hurts, and when they did, he was able to easily scramble out of the pocket and pick up chunk yardage.</p><p>These kinds of high-scoring games could become a theme for the Cowboys this year as they look to insert themselves back into the NFC playoff discussion after a rough 2024 season.</p><p>In any case, the Cowboys will look to get into the win column for the first time this season when they take on the divisional rival New York Giants on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET from AT&amp;T Stadium in Arlington.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Dallas may already have a solution in mind, as they <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-looking-replace-micah-parsons-jadeveon-clowney">invited Jadeveon Clowney in for a visit</a> on Wednesday. There are some surprising connections between Clowney and Dallas’ new head coach.</p><p>Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1965831854822441456" rel="noopener">spoke with reporters</a> about Clowney on Wednesday. He noted that his “personal relationship” with Clowney makes him an attractive free agent for Dallas.</p><p>“I would say the personal relationship with him and the problems he can cause in the pass game and run game,” Schottenheimer said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota.</p><p>Schottenheimer was the offensive coordinator with the Seahawks in 2019. Clowney joined the Seahawks in 2019.</p><p>Schottenheimer added that he does not think the potential addition of Clowney would stunt the growth of Dallas’ young pass rushers.</p><p>Clowney played for the Panthers in 2024, but was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/panthers-news-carolina-releases-jadeveon-clowney-wake-2025-nfl-draft">cut this offseason after the 2025 NFL Draft</a>. He has been on the market since May and is finally receiving some interest.</p><p>It will be interesting to see if Clowney decides to join the Cowboys after his visit on Wednesday.</p><h2><b>How could Jadeveon Clowney change the Cowboys defense?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Jadeveon-Clowney-against-the-Arizona-Cardinals.jpg"><figcaption>© Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>So what could the Cowboys be getting if they sign Clowney?</p><p>It all starts with veteran leadership. The 32-year-old pass rusher has seen it all in the NFL. That gives him the kind of leadership that analysts like to call “having a coach on the field.” It also means Clowney could teach Dallas’ young pass rushers a thing or two along the way.</p><p>But aside from experience, Clowney is still a solid pass rusher.</p><p>Clowney managed five-and-a-half sacks with the Panthers in 2024 and nine-and-a-half sacks with the Ravens in 2023.</p><p>Clowney has shown that, when surrounded by other talented players, he can create problems for opposing offenses. And the Cowboys still have good players on defense, even if they aren’t Parsons.</p><p>If the Cowboys do bring in Clowney, they likely won’t get much from him right away. He would need time to acclimate to his new team, get into football shape, and learn the playbook.</p><p>Simply put, it couldn’t hurt to give Clowney a chance.</p><p>The Cowboys will host the Giants in Week 2 at 1PM ET on Sunday.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Unfortunately, they <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/biggest-micah-parsons-trade-overreaction-after-cowboys-week-1-loss-to-eagles">felt the loss of superstar Micah Parsons</a> during their <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-most-to-blame-for-week-1-loss-to-eagles">loss to the Eagles in Week 1</a>. Now the Cowboys seem to have their sights set on a free agent who could replace Parsons on the team’s defensive line.</p><p>The Cowboys are <a href="https://x.com/JosinaAnderson/status/1965773163876528165" rel="noopener">hosting free agent edge rusher</a> Jadeveon Clowney on Wednesday, per NFL insider Josina Anderson.</p><p>Clowney played for the Panthers during the 2024 season. But he has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/panthers-news-carolina-releases-jadeveon-clowney-wake-2025-nfl-draft">released following the 2025 NFL Draft</a>.</p><p>Clowney is still a valuable edge rusher, even at 32 years old. He more than five sacks per season in three out of the last four years. Clowney even managed nine-and-a-half sacks in 2023 with the Ravens.</p><p>Dallas could certainly use one more reliable pass rusher with Parsons now in Green Bay.</p><p>Sam Williams and Dante Fowler Jr. started for the Cowboys in Week 1. Neither player was especially impressive. Dallas also has rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku and second-year player Marshawn Kneeland in reserve.</p><p>But a trustworthy veteran like Clowney could be the final piece of Dallas’ new-look defensive line.</p><h2><b>Could Jadeveon Clowney fix the Cowboys’ defense ahead of Week 2?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Jadeveon-Clowney-tackles-Patrick-Mahomes.jpg"><figcaption>Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>If Clowney does decide to sign with the Cowboys, they won’t have much time to get him ready for Week 2.</p><p>Dallas only has a few days of practice before they host New York. Micah Parsons may have been able to play for Green Bay in Week 1, but adding Clowney is completely different.</p><p>Clowney has not had the benefit of participating in NFL training camp. He may have been keeping himself in shape, but it is unlikely that he’ll be ready for live action in just a few days.</p><p>Aside from his physical health, there’s the mental side of the game to consider. It would be a tall task for Clowney to join a new team and learn a new playbook by the weekend.</p><p>Realistically, Clowney may not be ready to play until Week 3 or later if he signs with the Cowboys.</p><p>Cowboys fans should expect a rotational role for Clowney if he ends up signing with the team after his visit.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/schedule">Cowboys vs. Giants kicks off at 1PM ET</a> on September 14th.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Still, Jones claimed that quarterback Dak Prescott played one of his best games in the loss to the Eagles.</p><p>Jones said he <a href="https://x.com/toddarcher/status/1965409434513096768" rel="noopener">likes the direction</a> Prescott is headed, according to a post on X by Todd Archer.</p><p>“Jerry Jones said on @1053thefan, there’s “no consolation in a loss,” but said Dak Prescott “had one of his best games that I’ve seen him play,” vs. Philly, and the OL play played well, “that bodes well as we start down this season.”</p><p>The Eagles lost star defender Jalen Carter before the first snap, making things easier for Prescott. However, the Eagles worked their way to a 24-20 win behind the play of their quarterback, Jalen Hurts.</p><h2><b>Cowboys’ Jerry Jones high on QB Dak Prescott</b></h2><p>Not stopping short, Jones <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-jerry-jones-sends-big-warning-about-dak-prescott-and-ceedee-lamb-after-cowboys-loss-against-eagles" rel="noopener">piled the praise</a> on Prescott, according to bolavip.com.</p><p>“I’m pretty proud of this team, especially the way Dak played,” Jones said. “I cannot say enough about him. He was outstanding. We’ll win a lot of games if it comes down to the people that you saw in that fourth quarter, not quite get it done. They’re outstanding players.”</p><p>Jones seems to be very high on his team overall despite the opening-week loss. This is true even with the costly dropped passes by CeeDee Lamb.</p><p>“Well, because it is CeeDee, and you know how often and how much he can do,” Jones said. “Certainly, we can get the ball in that direction. We get the ball in that direction and playing with that kind of effort, we’re going to win a lot of games. The guys that had a chance to make some plays, they’ll make those plays. They’re good players. And those plays will bring home some victories. We had a fairy tale to step up here and beat the world champions, but it always doesn’t happen the way they wrote Cinderella.</p><p>Also, Jones <a href="https://x.com/JoeJHoyt/status/1965409084376846457" rel="noopener">praised his head coach</a>, Brian Schottenheimer, according to a post on X by Joseph Hoyt.</p><p>“#Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan about Brian Schottenheimer’s debut:<br>“The plan, the preparation, gave us a chance to win. That’s what we asked for.”</p><p>There will probably be a lot of that this season as Jones has repeatedly patted himself on the back after hiring Schottenheimer earlier this year.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
