The biggest question mark for the 49ers 2023 season is who will play quarterback. Armstead doesn’t think it matters.</p><p>“We put emphasis on that each and every year,” Armstead said. “It starts up front, and we believe that our team is going to go as far as our D-line can take us. We truly believe that we can go out there and take over games and win them.”</p><p>That’s just what this defensive line did last season. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-new-coach-steve-wilks-truth-bomb-on-elite-defense" rel="noopener">49ers’ defense was the best</a> in football, and that defense took them very far. With a carousel of quarterbacks, San Francisco made it to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.</p><p>Alongside Armstead, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-arik-armstead-gasses-up-ex-eagles-star-javon-hargrave" rel="noopener">the 49ers defensive line</a> consists of DPOY Nick Bosa, Drake Jackson, Javon Kinlaw, Kerry Hyder, Kevin Givens, and Clelin Farrell. Now, they’ve also added Javon Hargrave to the mix to bolster what was already a very strong unit.</p><p>“A guy like Javon [Hargrave], who’s been dominating his entire career and is a tremendous player, adding him to what we have built here and trying to take it to another level is going to be amazing to be a part of. Also, I think we complement each other very well. I think it’s going to be very tough for offensive linemen to prepare for all of us, all the different looks that we’re giving at guys.”</p><p>It’s too early to tell who will be the 49ers’ signal caller next season. Will it be former third overall pick Trey Lance? Will Brock Purdy recover from his elbow surgery in time for the season? Sam Darnold?</p><p>One thing is certain, however. By adding Hargrave to a defensive line that already includes Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead, the 49ers <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-49ers-javon-hargrave-nfl-free-agency-signing" rel="noopener">managed to improve</a> one of the best units in the NFL.</p><p>The 49ers gave Hargrave a four-year, $84 million contract, coming off an 11-sack season. Hargrave was an important part of an Eagles’ defense that led the NFL in sacks for the 2022 season. Arik Armstead called Hargrave “dominant” on the latest episode of “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” <a href="https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/169296-armstead-talks-steve-wilks-javon-hargrave-49ers-situation/">excited to play</a> alongside his new teammate.</p><p>“I hadn’t necessarily met him before signing with us, but I’ve seen his career, I’ve seen him on tape, I’ve seen him on film, and he’s one hell of a player,” Armstead said. “He’s a dominant defensive tackle in this league, and adding him to our already good group of players is just going to be amazing.</p><p>“We’ve always made an investment up front here with the Niners, and we like to put the game on our shoulders. And when you want to win a Super Bowl, you better be able to rush four and get home, especially when you’re playing against such great quarterbacks late in the season; you’re going to need more guys in coverage. And so I’m really excited about that.”</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-studs-duds-nfc-championship-win-49ers" rel="noopener">Eagles defeated the 49ers</a> in the NFC Championship Game 31-7. San Francisco had little chance when Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury that would require offseason surgery and backup quarterback Josh Johnson suffered a concussion. And boy, did they run up quite the tab. Photos emerged online of a whopping <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/brock-purdy-49ers-to-super-bowl-chances-week-15-seahawks-win" rel="noopener">49ers rookie</a> dinner bill in surplus of $322,000, all of which was expected to be paid by the young guys. After the photo went viral, 49ers star <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-news-sf-gets-massive-arik-armstead-update-that-should-instill-fear-in-tua-tagovailoa-dolphins" rel="noopener">Arik Armstead</a> decided to <a href="https://twitter.com/arikarmstead/status/1605046047671083008" rel="noopener">clear the air</a>, explaining that the $322K bill was just a prank between the veterans and the waitress.</p><p>Via Armstead on Twitter:</p><p>“Y’all silly if you thought a dinner can cost 300k. It was a prank. The waitress went overboard. The dinner was 7,500 me and 2 other vets gave 1k towards it. The rooks split 4,500. We had a great time too. I had good vets as a young player I would never do a rookie like that.”</p><p>Well, there you have it, folks. Armstead revealed that the actual cost of the 49ers rookie dinner bill was only $7,500, a sum which he and two other teammates pitched in a total of $3,000 towards. In all, the Niners rookies were hit with a $4,500 dinner bill, rather than one that costs the size of a middle-sized home. Much more reasonable.</p><p>Armstead seemed fascinated that so many people even believed the notion that a team could rack up a $300,000 dinner bill, prompting him to clear the air over the 49ers rookie dinner once and for all.</p><p>While things can certainly get out of hand during NFL rookie dinners, Arik Armstead clarified that he and his teammates took good care of the rookies, rather than leaving them with an impossibly large bill to pay.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead seems ready to make his long-awaited return to the field.</p><p>While <a href="https://twitter.com/LombardiHimself/status/1598460501000085504?s=20&amp;t=2F5rzHvXVdnZg4wVdM38jg" rel="noopener">speaking with reporters</a> on Thursday, Arik Armstead broke the news that he plans to play on Sunday.</p><p>Expectations were already sky-high for <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/san-francisco-49ers-3-bold-predictions-for-week-13-vs-dolphins" rel="noopener">this matchup</a> between the 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. Throughout this season, these two teams have consistently played some of the best football in the NFL. The addition of Arik Armstead will only bring more attention to this highly anticipated Week 13 matchup.</p><p>Even in the absence of Arik Armstead throughout this season, the 49ers defense has been <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/stats/_/type/team/name/sf" rel="noopener">elite</a>. They have allowed more than 20 points in a game just twice in the entire season. In total, they have given up 173 points over 11 games.</p><p>Arik Armstead, when healthy, is one of the NFL’s best defensive players. Now in his <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/ArmsAr01.htm" rel="noopener">eighth season</a> in the NFL, he has recorded 269 total tackles, 38 tackles for loss, 71 quarterback hits, and 28.5 total sacks throughout his career.</p><p>A healthy Arik Armstead joining a defense already consisting of Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and Dre Greenlaw should put any opposing offense on notice.</p><p>Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins may have their hands full as they take on this 49ers group. They may be without several starters on the offensive side of the ball as both left tackle Terron Armstead and right tackle Austin Jackson are currently dealing with injuries. However, not everyone was a huge fan of the buzz surrounding the offensive lineman.</p><p>San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Arik Armstead took to Instagram on Monday with rather serious accusations. According to Armstead, Skipper has frequently used the n-word toward black players. The Lions offensive lineman is white.</p><p>“So we cheering for [a] racist now?” Armstead wrote. “Called multiple players the N words in games. One fan <a href="https://twitter.com/Devoted2DET/status/1571968258680692736" rel="noopener">pointed out</a> that Skipper hasn’t even been on the sideline in any games against the 49ers pass rusher.</p><p>Playing devil’s advocate, those facts do not entirely disprove Armstead’s claims. NFL players talk to each other, Lions and 49ers players included. The pass rusher could have heard these allegations from other players who have played against Skipper in some capacity.</p><p>Skipper played his college ball at Arkansas. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, and has bounced around the league. He is in his third stint as a member of the Lions.</p><p>Skipper essentially became a poster boy for the Lions new team culture after the team’s win. His performance embodied the “next man up” mentality and preachings of grittiness instilled by head coach Dan Campbell.</p><p>Whether these accusations are true, we don’t know at this time. Only time will tell if we ever find out they are true.
