And that dynamic was magnified by Dalton Kincaid’s absence on Thursday. Cooks figures to provide some depth and experience to a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-editorials/bills-most-to-blame-stunning-tnf-loss-texans">Bills wide receiver room</a> that has seen its ups and downs so far this year, particularly considering the recent tribulations of young receiver Keon Coleman.</p><p>Seemingly as a result of the Cooks signing, the Bills have also now <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1993720800218874099" rel="noopener">made another transaction for their roster.</a></p><p>“The #Bills have released WR Elijah Moore,” reported NFL insider Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>It remains to be seen if Moore will be picked up by another team this season.</p><p>Overall, the Bills’ wide receiver room has been a roller coaster this year. But at 32, his best days may be behind him, as he’s <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CookBr00.htm" rel="noopener">recorded fewer yards in 2024 and 2025 combined, 424</a>, than he had in each of his 10 previous individual seasons with the Saints, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, and Dallas Cowboys.</p><p>And yet, even if Cooks is no longer an elite deep threat, that doesn’t mean he can’t still help a good team succeed in the short term, even if it comes as a WR3 or even a WR4 on a really good team. He can still get vertical, has extensive experience in multiple schemes, and most importantly of all, brings the threat of speed to any offense any time he takes the field, which could force opposing defenses to change their plans in order to avoid being burned over the top.</p><p>With the playoffs rapidly approaching, there are multiple teams that should heavily push for Cooks’ services, as he could change the outcome of a game, a drive, or even just a play, which could be the difference between advancing in the playoffs and an early vacation come January.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Brandin-Cooks.jpg"><figcaption>Robert Hanashiro-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Brandin Cooks could return to the New England Patriots</b></h2><p>After finishing out the 2024 NFL season with a top-5 draft pick, the New England Patriots have been one of the true bright spots of the 2025 campaign, with second-year quarterback Drake Maye leading the team to a 9-2 record through Week 11.</p><p>With a cost-controlled quarterback under contract for the next four years, some exciting young players around him like Will Campbell, Christian Gonzalez, and Cory Durden, and quality veterans like Mack Hollins, Stefon Diggs, and Harold Landry III filling out the roster, more than a few fans banged the table to see Mike Vrabel, Eliot Wolf, and company make a move at the trade deadline to further fortify the roster before the playoffs.</p><p>Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, as the Patriots opted to sell off players like Keion White and Kyle Dugger from the previous administration instead of loading up on more win-now players, forcing Vrabel to roll with the players he has rather than fortifying his roster with someone new.</p><p>Enter Cooks, who could add some deep threat ability to the Patriots’ offense like he did in 2017 for Tom Brady.</p><p>Despite moving on from deep threats like Tyquan Thornton and Ja’lynn Polk, the Patriots’ offense has found plenty of success down the field in 2025, with Hollins, Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, and DeMario Douglas all averaging at least 10 yards per reception on the season. Add a deep threat like Cooks to that group, who has a career yards-per-reception of 13.3, and it could provide Vrabel with a solid sparkplug should any of New England’s young players hit a wall down the stretch.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Brandin-Cooks-1.jpg"><figcaption>Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Brandin Cooks could return to the Los Angeles Rams</b></h2><p>Like New England, Cooks has already played for the Los Angeles Rams, having spent two seasons with Matthew Stafford and company under Sean McVay from 2018-19.</p><p>In 2018, Cooks ultimately had his best season as a pro, catching 80 of the 117 balls thrown his way for a career-high 1,204 yards and five touchdowns. While that production was worth the 2018 first round pick – and change – Les Snead gave up to bring him to town, an underwhelming 2019 season made him expendable, with the Houston Texans acquiring the Oregon State product plus a 2022 fourth rounder for a second.</p><p>In 2025, the Rams are a good team with two of the very best wide receivers in the game in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, but their WR3 spot has been underwhelming, with Tutu Atwell having four receptions for 164 yards, Jordan Whittington catching 13 balls for 130 yards, and the rest of the team’s wide receivers under 100 yards through 11 weeks.</p><p>Granted, the Rams have succeeded with their tight ends-heavy packages in 2025, with 13 personnel becoming a fixture in Los Angeles and McVay hunting mismatches, but adding one more good wide receiver could provide even more optionality for Stafford and company.</p><p>Can Cooks play up to his 2018 or even his 2019 standards in 2025? Probably not, but considering what the Rams have in the cupboard, the bar isn’t very high to become a quality contributor.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Brandin-Cooks-2.jpg"><figcaption>Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Brandin Cooks could finally sign with the Philadelphia Eagles</b></h2><p>Unlike the Saints, Patriots, Rams, Texans, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-brandin-cooks-open-to-return-free-agency">Cowboys, and Saints once more</a>, Cooks has never played for the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has been linked to the team for pretty much his entire NFL career.</p><p>Cooks was famously one of the six players Chip Kelly considered drafting in 2014 before trading back and selecting Marcus Smith, and over his prime, the Eagles were seemingly always connected to the Oregon State deep threat as a potential long-term replacement for DeSean Jackson on the outside.</p><p>In 2025, those connections could finally come to fruition.</p><p>Now granted, like the Rams, the Eagles also have two very good wide receivers in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, and that duo has already complained about their touches in 2025, but behind the duo, WR3 Jahan Dotson has 10 catches for 194 yards, and Xavier Gipson has three, <i>three</i>, yards on just one reception.</p><p>Can the Eagles succeed with just three wide receivers with more than one reception? No, even if Jalen Hurts is one of the more conservative passers in the game, he still needs more weapons to unlock the Eagles’ full offensive potential, which has been lacking in 2025.</p><p>Though he was far from a perfect player, Quez Watkins provided a certain level of verticality the Eagles have been missing ever since he fell out of favor in late 2023. While Watkins is technically still on the practice squad, Cooks is a more ready-made option who can bring some veteran leadership to a wide receivers room that is, shall we say, lacking in that department. If he can just get everyone on the same page, Cooks will be worth so much more than the production he delivers on the field.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

At the end of the day I’m just trying to win. I am fully healthy and have nothing to hide,” Cooks said per Josina Anderson on X,</p><p>The 11-year veteran landed on the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-brandin-cooks-injured-reserve-knee-infection">injured reserve with a knee infection</a> last season, which cost him seven games. However, he was able to return to the field in November and didn’t suffer any setbacks.</p><h2><b>Should the Cowboys re-sign wideout Brandin Cooks?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Brandin-Cooks.jpg"><figcaption>Chris Jones-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>While his production suffered in 2024 as a result of the injury, Cooks was a useful secondary option for the Cowboys in 2023, when he had 54 receptions for 657 yards and eight touchdowns. It was his best scoring output since 2016 when he played for the New Orleans Saints.</p><p>“It’s just one of those things where they have to focus on what they have to get done first too. I would love to play with the Cowboys, at the same time they would have to use me right. It will help out quarterback Cooper Rush, who is trying to keep things afloat for Dallas with Dak Prescott out for the remainder of the season. Cooks is back after previously having arthroscopic surgery due to a knee infection.</p><p>Cooks has just nine receptions for 91 yards this season <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-insiders-speculate-on-wild-cowboys-raiders-bill-belichick-scenarios">for the Cowboys</a>, and he is in the back half of his career, but he is an experienced wide receiver who should help out the offense moving forward. It will be interesting to see his role in the game against the Giants. CeeDee Lamb will undoubtedly be the focus of the offense, but players like Rico Dowdle and KaVontae Turpin have been useful players for Dallas as well. It would not be a surprise to see the Cowboys somewhat pace Cooks when it comes to working him back into the offense, especially given that Rush is under center and not Prescott.</p><h2><b>Can Cowboys build off of upset win vs. Commanders?</b></h2><p>After the win over the Commanders, the Cowboys moved to 4-7 and kept some faint hope of a late-season run alive. They host a Giants team that is seemingly on the verge of imploding, who are likely to start their third quarterback in three games in Drew Lock after Tommy DeVito suffered a forearm injury in the previous game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a great chance for the Cowboys to get back to 5-7.</p><p>After that, the Cowboys will play the struggling Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers. It is not totally out of the question that they could get back to .500, before a tough close to the season that includes games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and Commanders. Given Jerry Jones’ recent comments on Mike McCarthy potentially extending with the team, this upcoming stretch of games is big for the organization. If the Cowboys show some life down the stretch and get back into contention for a wild card spot, while playing some competitive games against the tough teams on their schedule, McCarthy will have made a case to keep his job in 2025 and beyond.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

And they’re on the verge of welcoming back a key weapon onto the field.</p><p>According to CEO Stephen Jones, the Cowboys think that wide receiver Brandin Cooks <a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10144776-cowboys-brandin-cooks-expected-to-play-vs-giants-after-injury-stephen-jones-says" rel="noopener">will be able to play for the first time in seven weeks</a>, via Bleacher Report.</p><p>“We’re optimistic that we’ll continue to get guys back. At the least the Cowboys will have a silver lining in the wide receiver department.</p><p>Dallas designated Cooks to <a href="https://x.com/VoiceOfTheStar/status/1859255625298870598" rel="noopener">return to practice</a> on Wednesday, via team reporter Patrik Walker. He was joined by defensive end Marshon Kneeland.</p><p>Cooks has been out since Week 4 after developing an infection in his knee. Before going down with his injury, the wide receiver had caught nine passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. However, he was expected to be a major part of the offense after his 2023 outburst. Cooks’ debut in Dallas saw him catch 54 passes for 657 yards and eight touchdowns.</p><p>But when Cooks steps on the field, he’ll be entering a much different Cowboys’ offense. In the wake of Prescott’s injury, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-mike-mccarthy-cooper-rush-decision-trey-lance-twist-commanders-game">Cooper Rush has been asked to step up</a>. He hasn’t been up to the task as the season has slowly fallen away.</p><p>Rush threw for a career-high 354 yards against the Houston Texans, adding a touchdown and an interception. However, he fumbled twice, seeing one run back for a touchdown. Furthermore, he had just 45 passing yards a week prior against the Philadelphia Eagles.</p><p>Brandin Cooks is set to be a free agent after the season. He can use the end of his 2024 campaign as an audition for interested teams. He had a good one-year run with the Cowboys, but it’s unclear if they’ll pursue a reunion.</p><p>For now, Cooks and the Cowboys are focused on the Washington Commanders. Even if they aren’t in the hunt, the Commanders are a heated NFC East rival. With Cooks back in the fold, Dallas will attempt to see as much success as they can before making some major offseason changes.</p><p>Whether that includes the departure of Cooks is yet to be seen.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He has a Bachelor's Degree in journalism from Eastern Michigan University.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Dallas Cowboys</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-skip-bayless-unleashes-44-minute-meltdown">Dallas Cowboys are struggling mightily</a>, having fallen to 3-7 in the first 10 games of the 2024 season with their latest setback coming in the form of an embarrassing 34-10 loss to the in-state rival Houston Texans on Monday night at AT&amp;T Stadium.</p><p>But ahead of their next matchup against the division rival Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium on Sunday, they’re on the verge of getting a valuable piece of their lineup back.</p><p>Wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who hasn’t played since September 26 after suffering a knee injury, <a href="https://x.com/calvinwatkins/status/1858993474001137770" rel="noopener">is a possibility to play</a> according to head coach Mike McCarthy.</p><p>Cooks underwent surgery and has missed the last several weeks, leaving a major hole in the Cowboys’ offensive attack.</p><p>So far in 2024, Cooks has only hauled in nine passes for a total of 91 yards and a touchdown.</p><h2><b>Wide receiver Brandin Cooks is in his second season with the Cowboys</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Brandin-Cooks-gets-tackled-on-September-22.jpg"><figcaption>Andrew Dieb-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Cooks, who was selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, is in his second season with the Cowboys after being acquired in March of 2023 from the Houston Texans in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2023.</p><p>While a member of the Texans, Cooks stated in no uncertain terms that <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35413610/texans-wr-brandin-cooks-want-part-rebuild" rel="noopener">he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuilding team</a>, via ESPN.</p><p>“I’m not going into this offseason thinking I want to be a part of a rebuild. Cooks previously underwent a procedure and the infection was a result of it. The news comes as another significant loss, as the Cowboys have dealt with a variety of injuries.</p><p>Throughout the week of practice, Dallas had 14 players on the injury report. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-dallas-micah-parsons-out-steelers-clash-ankle-injury">Cowboys are also without Micah Parsons</a>, who is out for Sunday’s primetime game. Although that’s the defensive side of the ball, both star and role players are suffering injuries left and right. On the offensive end, with Cooks out, it limits the pass-catching ability of the team. While they still have CeeDee Lamb, defenses can focus solely on him without fearing for any plays from other receivers.</p><h2><b>Does Brandin Cooks’s injury matter that much to the Cowboys?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Brandin-Cooks-lands-on-the-IR-with-the-Cowboys-ahead-of-Week-5.jpg"><figcaption>© Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Cowboys are losing one of the most consistent pieces of their roster. Cooks has had <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CookBr00.htm" rel="noopener">at least 1,000 receiving yards or more</a> in six of his 11 seasons. He also proved to be a legitimate red zone weapon in the offense as well. He posted eight touchdowns in 2023, which is only one shy of his career-high (2015 with the New Orleans Saints). </p><p>This season, the Dallas roster has been a bit more depleted. Losing Tony Pollard and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has truly hurt the team this season. Not to mention, the influx of injuries has been hard to stomach. That combination has forced the offense to play desperate and not play at the efficient pace that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has.</p><p>Regardless, the Cowboys will have to move on and rely on other receivers to get the job. Cooks’s veteran presence on the field will be missed tremendously. They play three teams above .500 before Cooks can return from injury. He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NFL</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys currently sit at 2-2 on the young season and are dealing with a case of the injury bug, as Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Brandin Cooks are all expected to miss this week’s game vs the Pittsburgh Steelers. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-brandin-cooks-ruled-out-vs-steelers-due-to-scary-knee-infection">Cooks reportedly sustained</a> an infection in his right knee after a procedure last week in New York <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-cowboys-davante-adams-trade-interest-doused-cold-water">following the Cowboys</a>‘ win vs the Giants, per Todd Archer of ESPN.</p><p>The injury will challenge the depth in a Cowboys’ receiver room that is already a bit shallow behind star wideout CeeDee Lamb.</p><p>Interestingly enough, recently, Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade out of that organization, so naturally, some wondered whether the Cowboys may be interested in entering the Adams sweepstakes.</p><p>McCarthy, however, <a href="https://x.com/clarencehilljr/status/1841524355139870890" rel="noopener">does not appear</a> to be on board with that speculation, per Clarence Hill Jr on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>“I love the guys we have here. The two Jalen’s, Turpin, love our practice squad guys,” said McCarthy when asked about the Cowboys’ potential interest in Adams.</p><p>Although Adams may not be the explosive athlete he once was during his time as a member of the Green Bay Packers, he remains one of the best route runners in the game and is still wreaking havoc on opponents as a member of the Raiders. One could only imagine what he might be able to do with some better quarterback play, which the Cowboys would be able to provide him in Dak Prescott.</p><p>Still, it seems as though Dallas is perfectly happy to weather the injury storm with their current roster intact and perhaps lean even more heavily on CeeDee Lamb until Cooks is able to return.</p><p>Their game against the Steelers is slated to kick off at 8:20 PM ET from Pittsburgh on Sunday evening.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He studied journalism and communication at UConn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NFL</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks is <a href="https://x.com/toddarcher/status/1841507543836692658" rel="noopener">going to miss</a> at least this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and potentially longer due to an infection that developed in his knee, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.</p><p>Brandin Cooks stayed in New York following <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-micah-parsons-dejected-diagnosis">the Cowboys’ win</a> over the New York Giants and had a procedure on his knee. That is when the infection developed for Cooks, and now he is going to miss at least this upcoming game for Dallas.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-demarcus-lawrence-ir-prompts-sign-former-bengals-pass-rusher">The Cowboys heavily rely</a> on CeeDee Lamb on offense regardless, but not having Cooks on the field will be detrimental as it takes another option away from quarterback Dak Prescott.</p><p>Dallas is already undermanned with the injuries to Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. It seems likely that Parsons will miss some time, while Lawrence will miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve. It will be a big test for the Cowboys defense against the Steelers without those two. Prior to facing the Giants, Dallas’ run defense had been the biggest problem, so those two missing this Sunday’s game is a blow to that. It will be interesting to see how defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer plans to guard Pittsburgh’s running game, which has Justin Fields as a factor.</p><h2><b>Cowboys trying to withstand injuries during tough part of schedule</b></h2><p>This upcoming game against the Steelers starts a rough stretch of games for the Cowboys, and this is arguably the easiest one of this upcoming stretch. The next seven games could be tough for Dallas before the team hosts the Giants on Thanksgiving.</p><p>This Sunday’s game against the Steelers is going to be an interesting barometer, as it could be a good tell on how the Cowboys will stack up against their competition moving forward. After this Steelers game, Dallas has four straight against NFC playoff hopefuls in the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. The Lions look like one of the best teams in the NFL, while the 49ers are still one of the most talented, although they are 2-2 and are dealing with injuries. The Falcons have steadily looked better over the first four weeks, and the Eagles are always a big matchup for the Cowboys. Then, there are games with the Houston Texans and upstart Washington Commanders heading into that Thanksgiving Giants matchup.</p><p>It is vital that the Cowboys pick up some wins to stay afloat in the next several weeks at the very least, and it will be interesting to see if they are able to do so with the injuries they currently face.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Putting up numbers, leading his team. He can’t do it all by himself. A lot of those great quarterbacks that I’ve been with, Tom (Brady) and Drew (Brees), don’t get me wrong, they won a lot of games, won a lot of Super Bowls, but they had a lot of help around them as well, right?”</p><p>“Us players around (Dak) also got to step up,” Cooks continued. “So when we hear that disrespect, I take that personally and as his teammates we should take that personally, because at the end of the day, somebody has got to be able to help him get over that hump so we can go win one.”</p><h2><b>The latest involving the Cowboys and Dak Prescott</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Dak-Prescott-on-July-31-2024.jpg"><figcaption>Jason Parkhurst-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>This could be an interesting situation regarding Prescott as one of the domino pieces in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-ceedee-lamb-dallas-agree-record-136-million-deal-after-lengthy-contract-standoff">CeeDee Lab received a four-year, $136 million deal from the Cowboys</a>.
