Well, you've come to the right place.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Detroit Lions</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>With the 2024 NFL Trade deadline rapidly approaching, one of the hottest names on the open market is <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-draft-news-redskins-select-chase-young-with-no-2-overall-pick" rel="noopener">Chase Young, the former second-overall pick</a> of the Washington Commanders back in 2020.</p><p>On paper, the interest makes all the sense in the world; Young is a big name, has an incredible pedigree, and has been a very productive player at the NFL level, even if he doesn’t do so in the ways that make your usual edge rusher into a household name.</p><p>Considering his New Orleans Saints just fired their head coach after losing to the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 – continuing a losing streak that began in Week 3 – and he’s only on a one-year deal to begin with, Young feels like the perfect trade target for a team in need of an edge rusher, which, according to Tom Pelissero on the <i>Rich Eisen Show</i>, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-bryce-huff-mentioned-trade-candidate-2024-deadline" rel="noopener">is about half the league</a>. But which teams made the most sense for Young specifically, considering his ups and downs and unique playing quirks?</p><p>Well, while most teams could probably find a spot for Young, much like other journeyman rushers with sky-high draft pedigree like Jadeveon Clowney, these three teams specifically might just be worth keeping a special eye on, as they each have a unique need that he could fill in 2024 and maybe beyond.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Chase-Young-against-the-Lions.jpg"><figcaption>Raj Mehta-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Chase Young could be traded to the Lions</b></h2><p>When Aidan Hutcheson went down with an almost certainly season-ending injury, fracturing both his tibia and fibula in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, it left fans in Detroit desperate for additional help coming off the edge.</p><p>Granted, the Lions have remained very productive even without their defensive lynchpin, winning every game they’ve played in while amassing 20 total sacks on the season – 7.5 of which belonged to Hutchinson. But their pass rush just hasn’t been the same with the pride of Michigan leading the way, and they can’t simply hope he returns in time for the Super Bowl to get back on track.</p><p>On one hand, the Lions have been linked pretty extensively to Za’Darius Smith of the Cleveland Browns, but what if he isn’t ultimately available? What if the Browns opt to trade him elsewhere, the price becomes too high, or worse, if Cleveland simply opts to keep Smith around for the remainder of the season? Well, if that happens, the team would need to pivot to Plan B, especially as rushers like Baron Browning rapidly come off the board.</p><p>Enter Young, who could serve as an ideal stopgap edge capable of holding things down against the pass and especially the run until Hutcheson returns to the field in time for the Super Bowl, if not a week or two sooner.</p><p>Originally drafted first overall all the way back in 2020 – <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/Y/YounCh04.htm" rel="noopener">despite still only being 25</a> – Young has appeared in 52 games with 32 starts over his professional career. While he seemingly topped out as a rookie in terms of overall production, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year while earning a Pro Bowl nod, Young has proven himself a solid enough base end who can remain on the field on pass-rushing downs, even if he isn’t a sack specialist. Place him on a defense that is already very good, and Young should be able to shine much like his run in San Francisco, where he feasted without having to be the defensive focal point of the Lions’ rush.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Chase-Young-against-the-Eagles.jpg"><figcaption>Bill Streicher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Chase Young would make sense for the Eagles</b></h2><p>If the Saints are willing to keep Young in the NFC but want to ship him back home to the NFL East, where his career originally began, the Philadelphia Eagles are a team in big need of a defensive end and may be interested in seeing if they can put the OSU product back on track to NFL greatness.</p><p>Facing off against the Eagles <a href="https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/chase-young-vs-eagles" rel="noopener">six times as a pro</a>, four as a member of Washington, one with the 49ers, and one more with the Saints in 2024, Young has amassed eight tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble largely as a member of the now-Commanders. While the Commanders were never going to trade him to Philadelphia for obvious reasons, as they would never want to feel the way the New York Giants do now if he turned into the next Julius Peppers – the player Lance Zierlein <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/chase-young/3200594f-5514-6550-d662-263c81d981b1" rel="noopener">compared him to before the draft in 2020</a> – the Saints hold no such issue and have even been very open to making deals with Howie Roseman in the past.</p><p>Now granted, Young isn’t the easiest fit on the Eagles’ roster in 2024, as much like Bryce Huff, he is largely used to playing defensive end as opposed to 3-4 outside linebacker. If the Birds want to focus on adding a proven 3-4 rusher instead of projecting a career 4-3 defensive end into a different scheme, then maybe Young isn’t for him. But over the last five years, Young has proven himself one of the better defensive ends in the NFL at stopping the run off the edge, and if that’s what’s keeping Huff in a part-time role, hand position may be a moot point.</p><p>Is Young a certified sack specialist? No, the last five years have more or less proven he isn’t that guy. But Huff came to Philadelphia as a pass-rushing specialist, and that didn’t work at all, so maybe adding a player like Young, who can absolutely play on rushing downs and still be effective as a rusher, could make him an ideal rotational end with Nolan Smith, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Graham.</p><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Chase-Young-playing-for-Washington.jpg"><figcaption>Brett Davis-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><h2><b>Should Chase Young be traded back to the Commanders?</b></h2><p>And last but not least, how cool would it be to see Young return to the Commanders now that the team has seemingly turned a corner and become a certified free agent destination? The prodigal son back in the burgundy and gold after roughly a year out in the wilderness split between the 49ers and the Saints, ready to prove he can still be a force in the nation’s capital.</p><p>And the best part? <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/commanders-news-washington-roasted-chase-young-trade-49ers">Young probably won’t cost a third-round pick</a> to acquire, which was the asking price in 2023.</p><p>While the Commanders still have a few players in place from the final Ron Rivera defense Young played in, including Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen, who is currently on IR, the former number two overall pick would instantly become Washington’s top edge rusher, leapfrogging Clelin Ferrell, Dorance Armstrong, and Dante Fowler as a near full-time defensive player. If he can be had for a Day 3 draft pick, which will probably be the going rate if Young is moved, bringing him back to Washington would create a really interesting dynamic that would be fascinating for fans of the Commanders and beyond.</p><p>The only real issue is that Ferrell already has the number 99 that Young made famous in DC. Then again, having to pick a new number – or shipping Ferrell back to New Orleans – is a minor issue for one of the more interesting comeback stories the 2024 NFL season could offer up to the general football-watching audience.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

However, he has struggled to find any consistency, partly due to injuries, and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/commanders-news-washington-roasted-chase-young-trade-49ers">Washington Commanders traded him</a> to the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, he has played nine games for the 49ers before he signed with the Saints as a free agent. When Young gets it going, though, he looks like an absolute stud on the field, which was why the Saints took an interest in him. Maybe having him share a starting position was the Saints sprinkling caution into their confidence.</p><h2><b>What’s next for the Saints?</b></h2><p>Last season, the Saints posted a 9-8 record, and they aimed to fill in their defensive needs in the offseason. Their previous linebacker Zack Baun played effective snaps throughout the season, but he decided to take his services to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.</p><p>Besides Young, the Saints also focused on tooling up on defense by signing Granderson, Payton Turner, Cameron Jordan, Isaiah Foskey, Tanoh Kpassagnon, and Niko Lalos. Moreover, Young’s one-year contract worth $13 million is a prove-it deal, and his first chance to do so would be to earn a full-time starting job.</p><p>Asked about <a href="https://www.neworleanssaints.com/news/new-orleans-saints-reel-in-big-one-in-defensive-end-chase-young" rel="noopener">his potential contribution</a> to the Saints defense, Young said, “My goal is just go be the best Chase Young I can be. I definitely plan to add a good piece to be a part of this defense.”</p><p>The OSU standout had torn his ACL and patellar tendon on his right knee on Week 10 of the 2021 season. In 2022, he returned to the field for three games before playing for 16 games last season. He also played in three playoff games as the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-news-fans-explode-miracle-comeback-win-lions-patrick-mahomes-chiefs-super-bowl">49ers advanced to the Super Bowl</a>. Well, you've come to the right place.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Editorials</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>With all 32 NFL teams officially in training camp, there are storylines abound, from big ones regarding holdouts and smaller stories like a recovering former first-overall pick looking to find some success on his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/chase-young-lands-with-saints-after-49ers-stint">third team in two years in Chase Young</a>, who landed with the New Orleans Saints after a quiet end to the season in San Francisco.</p><p>Now, when Young was signed, Saints fans were cautiously optimistic, as at times, Young has looked like a true star for the Commanders, Football Team, and even the 49ers, but outside of his rookie season, where he truly looked like an elite playmaker, he’s been more up-and-down than consitant, so much so that the team that drafted him traded him away instead of extending him into the future.</p><p>Could Young, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/saints-news-chase-young-training-camp-neck-surgery-update">coming off neck surgery</a>, finally put it all together and become a legit difference maker? Well, in Dennis Allen’s opinion, Young is off to a great start, as he told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN that he <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/40638514/2024-nfl-training-camp-latest-updates-buzz-notes-news-fantasy-football" rel="noopener">loves what he’s seen</a> from the Saints’ newest defensive weapon so far.</p><p>“He’s disruptive – he’s big, he’s physical, he’s fast, he’s motivated,” coach Dennis Allen told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “You feel disruption when he’s on the field. Now, he may not make every play and he may not work the fundamentals and technique exactly how we want it yet. But he’s causing disruption. And he’s having production that may not show up on the stat sheet every time. And the thing I’ve been most impressed about, he’s come in here, he’s done everything we’ve asked him to do, working hard.”</p><p>On one hand, it’s training camp, so any major complements have to be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s certainly better to hear positive things from a recovering edge rusher than to see him on the sideline with trainers or sitting out snaps for one reason or another. Case in point, in the 67 games that Rivera coached in D.C., the following eight quarterbacks got starts: Alex Smith, Dwayne Haskins, Kyle Allen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, Garrett Gilbert, Carson Wentz, and Sam Howell. Not exactly a murderer’s row of signal callers, and as longtime fans of franchises who <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/the-chicago-bears-quarterback-rundown-caleb-williams-savior">haven’t had sustained QB success</a> could tell you, if you don’t have that position figured out, you’re in deep trouble. However, according to Ron Rivera, there’s an alternate reality where the Commanders <i>could’ve</i> nabbed their eventual franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft.</p><p>Washington entered the 2020 NFL Draft with both the 2nd overall pick and the knowledge that LSU quarterback Joe Burrow would be the 1st overall selection of the Cincinnati Bengals. For all intents and purposes, that meant that Washington would be on the clock for multiple months attempting to determine whether the first 1st Round pick in the Ron Rivera era — hey, that rhymes! — would be a quarterback, or whether it would be Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young. In the end, the pick ended up being Young, who Rivera said that Washington believed would be an impact player. However, the former Commanders head coach didn’t dance around an answer when ESPN’s Adam Schefter asked if he could go back in time and select a quarterback, who it would’ve been.</p><p>“I think we felt pretty good about Justin Herbert as someone we liked looking at,” Rivera said during his appearance on the <i><a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-training-camp-storylines-keep-coming/id1190094109?i=1000663096155" rel="noopener">Adam Schefter Podcast</a>. </i>“You know hindsight is easy because it is an opportunity to look back and say we could’ve done that, and we really could’ve, but who knows.”</p><p>Of course, had Washington selected Justin Herbert instead of Chase Young, things would be much different in both D.C. and in LA. After signing with the franchise it was reported that he needed to have neck surgery and his timetable for the 2024 season is up in the air. However, the latest update reveals some good news for the former No. 1 overall pick.</p><p>The newly added Saints pass rusher had a checkup with the doctors and it turned out to be <a href="https://x.com/JFowlerESPN/status/1801350107792904562" rel="noopener">a positive visit</a>, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Reports indicate Chase Young will have more tests done in six weeks. However, he expects to be ready to go by the time New Orleans begins training camp.</p><p>“Saints DE Chase Young, who underwent offseason neck surgery, received a positive report from renowned neck specialist Dr. Robert Watkins in a check-up this week, per source. He’ll undergo more tests in about six weeks, but he plans to participate in training camp.”</p><p>That’s great news considering Chase Young had to receive neck surgery. That’s not usually something most people can bounce back from quickly. He struggled often and the franchise didn’t do much to upgrade the position. They did select Spencer Rattler in the 2024 NFL Draft but he’s a raw prospect who needs time to develop.</p><p>When it comes down to it, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/saints-news-alvin-kamara-leaves-minicamp-due-to-contract-issues">Saints may find</a> success in the run game, that is if they can get Alvin Kamara to agree on a new contract. But they also have exciting prospect Kendre Miller at running back who has the potential of earning a bigger role next season. But if the Saints can find Chris Olave in the passing game then they could be a surprisingly good offense in 2024.</p><p>It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. But the Saints are shaping up to be one of those teams lost in the middle of the pack. He expected to make a full recovery by the start of the season.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-chase-young-visiting-3-teams-in-free-agency" rel="noopener">Young visited the Saints</a>, Carolina Panthers, and Tennessee Titans during free agency. Teams were aware of his neck issue, and New Orleans was comfortable moving forward. Hopefully, Young will have an efficient recovery process amid his new journey.</p><p>The Saints may have struck gold with Young’s signing. He started his career with the Washington Commanders, who drafted him with the second overall pick in the 2020 Draft. Young had a respectable rookie season, amassing 44 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles in 15 games.</p><p>Unfortunately, Young suffered a devastating knee injury in the middle of his second season that caused a drop in production. He played 10 games in two additional seasons for the Commanders before he was traded to the 49ers.</p><p>Young did not have the turnaround he was looking for in San Francisco. Nevertheless, he contributed to the team’s Super Bowl runner-up season. Young, 24, is already one of the best defensive players in the league but he still <a href="https://www.neworleanssaints.com/news/new-orleans-saints-reel-in-big-one-in-defensive-end-chase-young" rel="noopener">thinks there’s room for improvement</a>, per John DeShazier.</p><p>“I feel like in every area of my game, I can grow,” Young said. “I’m still a young player in this game, and I’m just still in that journey to be the best player I can be.”</p><p>Young began his career with the Washington Commanders in 2021. He immediately established himself as a star, earning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award and a Pro Bowl selection.</p><p>Young has been limited by injuries over the past few years, however. In 2023, he was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-news-chase-young-reveals-true-feelings-commanders-trade-san-francisco" rel="noopener">ultimately traded</a> from the Commanders to the eventual NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.</p><p>Chase Young also opened up on past injury concerns, per DeShazier as well.</p><p>“Injuries definitely hindered a few things, but it’s all good,” Young said. “It’s all about a process, all about the journey. I know what I can do. I’m a man of God, He’s still giving me opportunities to prove it. So, I’m here.”</p><h2><b>Saints looking to take next step forward with Chase Young on roster</b></h2><p>The Saints finished 2023 with a 9-8 record. New Orleans was in playoff contention since they played in a lackluster division, but the Saints are hoping to have a more consistent overall performance in 2024.</p><p>Adding Young will unquestionably help in that regard. Young will play a pivotal role for New Orleans’ defense if he can stay healthy.</p><p>Perhaps the Saints will emerge as a legitimate contender and make some noise in the NFC during the 2024 campaign. Sure, they will not enter the ’24 season as a favorite. Now, Young is eyeing the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints in free agency.</p><h2><b>Chase Young has a plethora of free-agency options </b></h2><p>Young added the Titans to <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1767624536965423385" rel="noopener">his list of options</a> after scheduling visits with the Panthers and Saints, per NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. It will be interesting to see where he lands after his up-and-down season.</p><p>In 2023-24, Young garnered 25 total tackles and 7.5 sacks across 16 games split between the Washington Commanders and the 49ers. The Commanders originally drafted Young with the second-overall pick in the 2020 Draft. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl honors in 2021.</p><p>However, Young experienced a brutal knee injury in the middle of his second season and has not been the same. Nevertheless, he is healthy, and after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/best-chase-young-landing-spots-2024-nfl-free-agency" rel="noopener">getting experience with San Francisco</a>, he is ready to take his game to the next level.</p><p>The Panthers are the team on Chase Young’s list that needs the most defensive help. Carolina struggled to stop opposing offenses in 2023-24, given they finished the season with a mere 2-15 record.</p><p>In addition, Tennessee could use help after finishing the year at 6-11. On the other hand, the Saints boasted a respectable 9-8 record but could not reach the NFL Playoffs.</p><p>It would be great to see Chase Young stay in San Francisco, but the team might prioritize other needs in free agency. The former Washington Commanders star was traded to the San Francisco 49ers at the trade deadline last season as the Niners looked to load up for a lengthy playoff run. Young’s play in the west coast <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-49ers-chase-young-interest-level-after-post-trade-disappointment" rel="noopener">wasn’t as great</a> as it was in Washington, though, as he had just 2.5 sacks in nine games in San Francisco. Despite that, he’s still an extremely talented pass rusher that many teams will be interested in.</p><p>Young’s sack numbers may not have been great in San Francisco, but advanced stats paint his season in a favorable light. He finished 2023 with the <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38356170/2023-nfl-pass-rush-run-stop-blocking-win-rate-rankings-top-players-teams" rel="noopener">15th-best</a> individual pass rush win rate among edge rushers according to ESPN’s trench win rate metrics. Young is in the company of a ton of heavyweights at that position in that metric, and while the former second-overall pick has not lived up to that lofty draft capital, he could still help any team who signs him. So with that in mind, let’s look at a pair of potential landing spots for him in free agency.</p><h2><b>Denver Broncos</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Jonathon-Cooper-chasing-Justin-Herbert.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The Denver Broncos have had plenty of star pass rushers come through their franchise. Recently, the pairing of Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware helped them win Super Bowl 50 back in 2015, and since then, players like Bradley Chubb have come through and made a big impact.</p><p>But last year’s Broncos squad did not have that type of impact pass rusher. Denver ranked 30th in the league in pass rush win rate in 2023, finishing ahead of only the New Orleans Saints (31st) and Atlanta Falcons (32nd). Despite that, Denver was tied for tenth in the league in sacks last season, with Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto leading the way.</p><p>With the Broncos eating $85 million in dead cap money as a result of their release of Russell Wilson, they may not be able to spend as much money as other teams in free agency. They will still have some money to spend, though, and given their need for pass-rushing help, maybe they could lock in on Chase Young as one of their top targets this offseason.</p><h2><b>New England Patriots</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Matthew-Judon-of-the-Patriots.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The New England Patriots have made it a priority of theirs to find second-draft players on the free agent market. What that means is that they try to find value in former high draft picks who could not stick with the team that drafted them for whatever reason, and it’s safe to say that Chase Young would fit that bill to a tee.</p><p>The Patriots aren’t in dire straits at edge rusher, but they could certainly use one. They finished 27th in the league in pass rush win rate a year ago, and ended up in the same spot in the sacks category after dropping the opposing quarterback 36 times. It is worth noting they were without their best pass rusher in Matthew Judon for all but four games last season, but still, the point stands.</p><p>The bigger problem with these pass rush numbers is that they generally didn’t get much production from their edge rushers. Their sack leader in 2023 was Christian Barmore, as he managed to rack up 8.5 sacks despite being a defensive tackle. Judon is one of the better pass rushers in the NFL, but he’s going to be coming back from a serious shoulder injury that ended his season very early.</p><p>The Patriots have a lot of money to find a pass rusher, and they will surely be active once free agency opens up. While they have bigger needs to fill this offseason, it wouldn’t hurt to find another pass rusher to help take the burden off of Judon once he returns, which could make Chase Young a sneaky good signing for them.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

As free agency dawns, however, there’s still a chance the former No. 1 overall pick remains with the Niners going forward.</p><p>While he reportedly may have to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/insider/story/_/id/39637538/2024-nfl-combine-latest-buzz-news-rumors-free-agency-draft-trades" rel="noopener">settle for a one-year deal</a> instead of a long-term payday, San Francisco also isn’t the only team interested in signing Young in free agency, per ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler.</p><p>“The 49ers have at least some interest in bringing back edge rusher Chase Young, who was a bit of a disappointment for them after their deadline deal to acquire him from Washington but is still just 24 and has a great relationship with star 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa. (They were college teammates.) As a result, they have an opportunity to turn their team around in a huge way. One of the players that could help their defense take a big step up the ladder is defensive end Chase Young.</p><p>The Bears are the <a href="https://www.bovada.lv/sports/football/nfl-specials/nfl-specials/futures-odd" rel="noopener">favorites to sign</a> Young in free agency if he does not remain with his current team, the San Francisco 49ers, according to Bovada.com. Chicago is listed at -125 to sign Young, while the New England Patriots are the second choice at a far off +500. The Philadelphia Eagles follow New England at +1800.</p><p>If Young were to sign with the Bears, Young would see a familiar face on the Chicago defensive line. The Bears traded for Montez Sweat prior to last year’s trade deadline, and the former Washington Commander immediately became an impact player for his new team. Young and Sweat played together with the Commanders, and that team was able to put one of the league’s best pass rushes on the field in 2022.</p><p>Of course, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-matt-eberflus-reveals-what-exactly-he-looks-for-franchise-qb" rel="noopener">Bears’ biggest decision</a> of the offseason involves the quarterback position. Many observers expect them to address that position by drafting Caleb Williams of USC with the No. 1 pick. Starting the year with the lowly Washington Commanders didn’t give him great odds, but a midseason trade to the San Francisco 49ers changed that instantly.</p><p>Young found himself on the field on Sunday in the final game of the season and was one of the Niners’ most impactful players. A solid effort in football’s biggest game wasn’t enough to help San Francisco to victory though as the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-news-kyle-shanahan-roasted-for-another-super-bowl-collapse" rel="noopener">Niners blew a 10-point lead</a> and lost a Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs for the second time in five seasons.</p><p>Young was <a href="https://ftw.usatoday.com/2024/02/chase-young-49ers-sad-postgame-interview-super-bowl?taid=65c9b16de58ebf0001ba06b1&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+New+Content+%28Feed%29&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" rel="noopener">visibly emotional</a> after the game, fighting back tears as he spoke to the media in the 49ers locker room.</p><p>“It’s tough,” Young said, per USA TODAY Sports. “To get in the mix halfway through the season and come with a great group, it’s tough.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-news-49ers-chiefs-super-bowl-58-quarter-puntfest-has-fans-in-disbelief" rel="noopener">Young was disruptive all night</a>, recording the first sack of the game and adding another QB hit later on. He also forced Patrick Mahomes into an intentional grounding penalty and helped put pressure on the Chiefs quarterback for most of the night.</p><p>The Niners were stacked on the defensive side of the ball this season, but the addition of Young solidified their pass rush as the best in football. Young was criticized for not performing well since the trade, but his play in the Super Bowl put that to rest.</p><h2><b>The agony of defeat</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Nick-Bosa-gets-100_-honest-on-added-Chase-Young-energy-after-Commanders-trade.jpg"></figure><p>It’s hard not to feel for Chase Young and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-most-to-blame-for-overtime-loss-against-chiefs-in-super-bowl-58" rel="noopener">Niners following a loss like that</a>. Super Bowl 58 was only the second Super Bowl to go to overtime and San Francisco held the lead four different times throughout the game.</p><p>It will be a hard loss to get over, but Young will be a free agent when the new league year opens and likely earned himself a nice payday with his performances in the playoffs. There’s a chance he returns to the Niners to try and run it back, but he should have plenty of other suitors vying for his signature.</p><p>For now, Chase Young is left to reflect on what could have been, but he shouldn’t blame himself after laying it all out there in the biggest game of his life.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Of course, the talk after that was the quality of the turf, which was slippery and was believed by many to contribute to the lack of sacks from the Eagles.</p><p>In a close and high-scoring game, the Chiefs snuck out with a win over the Eagles last year. In this year’s game, the pass rush will be huge for the 49ers. Chase Young established a rush early, and Nick Bosa also got pressure on the play from the other side.</p><p>In Super Bowl 55 between the Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the pass rush of the Buccaneers stifled Patrick Mahomes throughout the game. If the 49ers can replicate that type of pass rush on this night, it will give Brock Purdy and the offense an opportunity to play with a lead and come out with a win.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/49ers-brandon-aiyuk-super-bowl-58-mvp" rel="noopener">49ers</a> traded for Young from the Washington Commanders ahead of the trade deadline this season, and while a long-term deal with San Francisco seems unlikely due to the salary cap situation, he could leave a lasting impression by continuing to get pressure on Mahomes.
