And if those two things aren’t ridiculous enough, Rich Eisen pleaded with Jerry Jones <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-mel-kiper-jr-dallas-reaching-pick-no-12-final-mock-draft" rel="noopener">to trade up</a> for Travis Hunter.</p><p>It’s 2025, and as long as somebody says it, it’s a story. So why not? Have at it, Rich Eisen.</p><p>“Jerry Jones, go trade for Travis Hunter. Do it,” Eisen said. “Go trade for Travis Hunter. You need an injection of superstardom. You need it, (and) you know you want (it).”</p><p>OK, let’s talk about how unrealistic this scenario would be.</p><h2><b>Could Cowboys trade for WR Travis Hunter?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Colorado-WR-Travis-Hunter_f9e1fa.jpg"><figcaption>Michael Ciaglo-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>First, let play the sleeping general manager game. Let’s pretend Hunter will make it past the Cleveland Browns at No. 2. And then let’s say the snoring New York Giants don’t take him at No. 3. Neither of those teams would be dumb enough to trade down nine or 10 spots, unless the Cowboys offered Parsons and a bunch of draft picks. But we have to assume here they are dumb enough to pass on Hunter, right?</p><p>Then you have the New England Patriots. What would the Cowboys have to pony up to get the No. 4 pick if the Browns and Giants have an epic fail on draft day? It’s mind-boggling. It’s not impossible, though, because NFL teams can be downright dumb.</p><p>That’s why the Cowboys keep winning the draft almost every year and getting guys like Micah Parsons because no other teams have enough foresight to project the kind of player he would become,.</p><p>Eisen continued his fantasy with “What makes sense is you’re paying Dak what you’re paying him, and you’re paying CeeDee what you’re paying him, and you’re paying Micah what you have to pay him,” Eisen said. “You’re paying Diggs, and you’re paying all the stars of your team.</p><p>“You trade draft capital of the future to get one of the biggest stars to come to this team since Randy Moss wanted to show up. This is what we’re talking about here, because it checks every box.”</p><p>Great. Wait, Eisen isn’t a Cowboys fan, right? Why does he want them to get Hunter? Maybe it’s tongue in cheek? Or maybe he thinks the salary imbalance, already overloading the Cowboys, would get worse quickly with Hunter on the books.</p><p>Dallas would likely have to trade this year’s No. 12 overall pick along with next year’s first-round pick, and this year’s No. 2 pick (44 overall). That’s a lot of capital for a player who has yet to play one down in the NFL.</p><p>Wait, you say, he’s a “generational talent.” Good. And he also said <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dak-prescott-eye-opening-truth-bomb-hamstring-injury">positive things about the injury</a> that sidelined him last year. With those good notes at hand, here is the Cowboys’ perfect 2025 NFL Draft trade.</p><p>The Cowboys stand in the No. 12 slot in the draft and have 10 picks overall. However, seven of those selections are in rounds fifth through seven. The Cowboys have the No. 44 pick (Round 2) and 76 (Round 3) but don’t have a fourth-round pick.</p><p>So basically their ammunition — without dipping into next year’s picks — is their No. 44 selection.</p><h2><b>Will Cowboys make a trade to move up?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Jerry-Jones-Cowboys-Owner.jpg"><figcaption>Tim Heitman-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Jerry Jones can be unpredictable at times in the draft. But the Cowboys don’t often wheel and deal. They have done it only eight times in their history: including 1990 to grab Emmitt Smith). They also moved up in 2010 to get Dez Bryant.</p><p>However, the Cowboys haven’t traded up since 2012. But this might be the year to break that string. If they sit at No. 12, they will likely miss out on wide receiver Tatairoa McMillan. And this is the guy the Cowboys need.</p><p>There’s a chance the Saints will grab McMillan with the No. 9. Also, the 49ers might have their eye on him at No. 11. So the obvious team for the Cowboys to have a conversation with is the Carolina Panthers.</p><p>First, the Panthers have a weak organization. That is they’ve won only five games four times in the last six years. In other two seasons, they won seven and two games, respectively.</p><p>It’s easier to make trades with weak organizations. The Panthers probably have a poor draft strategy for 2025 just as they’ve done in previous seasons. Therefore, the Cowboys could offer their No. 12 pick and their second-round pick (No. 44), for the Panthers No. 8 and third-round pick (No. 74).</p><p>This would allow the Cowboys to leap past the Saints and 49ers and select McMillian.</p><h2><b>Why would McMillan be good for the Cowboys?</b></h2><p>McMillan would give the Cowboys an awesome combination alongside CeeDee Lamb.</p><p>McMillan’s 6-foot-4, 219-pound frame and skillset would give Prescott two top-flight targets on every snap. However, there are questions about the injury <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/tetairoa-mcmillan/32004d43-4d51-4957-830f-234e646a998f" rel="noopener">that dogged him</a> in 2024, according to an AFC scouting director via nfl.com.</p><p>“He got hurt in the spring and I don’t know that he ever made it back to 100 percent,” an AFC scouting director said. “The 2023 tape gives you a better idea of who he is.”</p><p>McMillian profiles as a possession receiver who can also <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/tetairoa-mcmillan/32004d43-4d51-4957-830f-234e646a998f" rel="noopener">win on deep balls</a>. He’s a prototypical X receiver, according to the33rdteam.com.</p><p>“He’s physical at the catch point, long, and difficult to play through with his length and catch radius,” Kyle Crabbs wrote. “McMillan has the kind of hands that a quarterback will come to love. He’s effortless with how he plucks the ball away from his frame, vacuums in passes quickly, and converts into a run-after-the-catch athlete. McMillan is a successful target in all three levels of the field, too.</p><p>“This boosts his outlook for immediate impact, although he does have room for growth in his release package versus press and his route savvy to create extra separation. Teams that run a lot of 3 x 1 with isolation on the back side should have an eye toward McMillan’s game, particularly if they are more of a vertical-oriented passing attack.”</p><p>All of this screams to pair McMillan with an Aplha-male receiver like Lamb.</p><p>Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he’s <a href="https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/jerry-jones-discusses-free-agency-trade-options-draft-and-more" rel="noopener">looking at everything</a>, according to dallascowboys.com.</p><p>“We’ve got a lot of options,” Jones said. “The combine actually I think emphasized that. There’s key players deep at key areas of the team running back, defensive line, outside the pressure players.</p><p>“So frankly, this is a good time to have where we are, we’re about right. I’m not so sure that I’d want to be any higher, and I think that you’re going to get a premium player at this position.”</p><p>That sounds like a guy who won’t allow the trigger to be pulled on a trade. However, Jones said, “Right about draft time, picks get very premium right now. The trades relative to draft picks for a player, this is a possibly. You might call it a good time, because the draft, the round picks to be able to use it this year, can come at a premium.”</p><p>Jones said other teams often come calling the Cowboys.</p><p>“Now you’ve got to have your bait out everywhere, and we do, but those come to you, and they don’t necessarily come to you because you’ve got a perfect fit back over here in a position, or you’ve got somebody in mind.</p><p>“Usually don’t count on that somebody in that perfect fit knocking on your door saying we want to give him away, that doesn’t come. In his final mock draft, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cowboys-rumors-mel-kiper-torn-over-rb-vs-wr-new-mock-draft">Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN surprisingly had the Cowboys reach</a> at the No. 12 pick and select North Carolina football running back Omarion Hampton, and he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3FVwEZNARg&amp;t=1376s" rel="noopener">recently explained</a> why he believes that could happen.</p><p>While Dallas missed the playoffs last season, their roster isn’t as far away from contending for Super Bowls as it seems. They do need some playmakers on offense, though, particularly at the running back spot. That could lead them to target Hampton, who is viewed as a complete running back and one of the top overall prospects in this draft class by Kiper.</p><p>“Well, a lot of people think the Cowboys aren’t that far away, and of course they have had a running back in their past when they had Ezekiel Elliott and also Emmitt Smith,” Kiper said on his First Draft Podcast. “Omarion Hampton is a complete back, make no mistake about it; he’s a hell of a football player.”</p><p>“If you’re the Dallas Cowboys, and you got Dak Prescott, and you got a running back like this who’s complete, they don’t have anybody like this on their roster the last time I checked. Why not? … He’s got to go in the first round. Rather than potentially trading back and trying to have him fall to them, Kiper believes Dallas just bites the bullet and drafts Hampton with the No. 12 pick.</p><p>Could this be too high for the Cowboys? Sure, but sometimes filling needs is more important than drafting for value, and that could result in Hampton landing with Dallas when all is said and done. One Cowboys star was furious about the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/tennessee-football-news-volunteers-coach-brutally-honest-nico-iamaleava-drama">latest NIL drama</a> in the college football world.</p><p>Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons <a href="https://x.com/MicahhParsons11/status/1910791295540289567" rel="noopener">was not happy</a> about Nico Iamaleava’s decision to hold out of Tennessee’s spring practice.</p><p>“College football a joke now,” Parsons posted on social media on Friday. “Yall minds well just make college into a semi pro league! Actually hold players accountable to the contracts they sign!”</p><p>Iamaleava decided to hold out of spring practice with the Volunteers because he was seeking an NIL deal worth roughly $4 million per season.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/tennessee-football-news-volunteers-coach-brutally-honest-nico-iamaleava-drama">Tennessee has since announced that is has parted ways with Iamaleava</a> as a result of his no-show at spring practice. The Volunteers will look to the transfer portal to find their next quarterback. Meanwhile, Iamaleava will enter the transfer portal himself, where he will seek to get a new NIL deal with his next team.</p><p>It makes sense that Parsons of all players would be frustrated with the current state of NIL in college football.</p><p>The NCAA adopted NIL in the summer of 2021. This decision came out just a few months after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/meet-the-dallas-cowboys-2021-nfl-draft-class">Parsons was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round</a> of the 2021 NFL Draft.</p><p>Therefore, Parsons just barely missed out on earning money during his collegiate career at Penn State.</p><p>At least Parsons can look forward to a big pay day in the near future.</p><h2><b>Micah Parsons is due for his own pay day from the Cowboys in near future</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Micah-Parsons.jpg"><figcaption>Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Micah Parsons may not have benefitted from NIL money, but he is due a big pay day from the Cowboys.</p><p>Parsons is due a huge contract extension with the Cowboys in the near future. He will <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-picks-up-5th-year-option-micah-parsons-but-with-a-twist">play on the fifth-year option in 2025, which is worth $24 million</a>.</p><p>The Cowboys and Parsons have been in contract negotiations for quite a while now. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has even taken the unusual step of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-jerry-jones-historic-micah-parsons-contract-offer-twist">performing some negotiations directly with Parsons himself</a>. Parsons has noted that he will not sign a contract without his agent’s approval, which is good to hear.</p><p>Parsons’ value continues to rise as other top defensive players sign contract extensions. He is now expected to command anywhere from $35 million to just over $40 million per season on a new contract.</p><p>Spotrac currently gives Parsons a <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/market-value/_/id/72392/micah-parsons" rel="noopener">market value of $36.3 million per season</a>.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

This upcoming 2025 NFL Draft presents newer scrutiny for the franchise. Brian Schottenheimer can now make draft decisions as head coach — but still must collaborate with owner/general manager Jerry Jones.</p><p>Fans will observe if the new Jones/Schottenheimer collaboration can strike big at 12th overall. But Dallas has other picks to think about — from No. 44 in the second round to the 247th selection of the seventh.</p><p>That’s where the potential sleepers come in. The Cowboys have found hidden gems outside of the first round before. DaRon Bland comes to mind as a fifth rounder. Even Dak Prescott was a non-first rounder by falling to the fourth round in 2016. Franchise legend Jason Witten came outside of the first round too — as a third rounder.</p><p>Dallas has multiple areas to address. These three sleepers can fill those needs outside of pick No. 12. First up for Dallas is…</p><h2><b>Cowboys address RB help through Dylan Sampson</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dylan-Sampson-of-Tennessee.jpg"><figcaption>Saul Young/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Frisco, Texas native Ashton Jeanty of Boise State is the popular choice for Dallas. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/boise-state-football-news-ashton-jeanty-earns-surprising-comp-ex-cowboys-starter">Jeanty is compared to past Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott</a>. The Boise State legend even <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-boise-state-rb-ashton-jeanty-makes-big-ask-of-jerry-jones">asked for Jones to draft him</a>.</p><p>But signs now indicate the Heisman Trophy finalist won’t be available after selection No. 6 — as Jeanty is trending to the Las Vegas Raiders. Dallas must come up with a contingency plan at RB if this is the case.</p><p>Dylan Sampson is a dynamic option post Jeanty. The Tennessee Volunteers star lacks the power and stamina of Jeanty. But Sampson is a twitchier back who brings some of the best cutting ability in this class.</p><p>“Sampson separates himself from other backs in the class with an impressive feel for timing, spacing and blocking scheme,” said NFL Network draft expert Lance Zierlein <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/dylan-sampson/32005341-4d33-8622-de8a-1e3d03b08479" rel="noopener">in his evaluation</a> of the Southeastern Conference star.</p><p>Sampson is an instinctive back holding a second to third round grade. We’ll call for Dallas to grab him at 76th overall in the third.</p><h2><b>Cowboys hand CeeDee Lamb needed help</b></h2><p>Dallas also must hand Prescott a new weapon in the air attack. Even though Schottenheimer will emphasize pounding the rock. But his offense is known to hit wide receivers immediately. The Cowboys need a fleet-footed option if this is the case. And one who takes pressure off CeeDee Lamb.</p><p>Elic Ayomanor of Stanford looks ready for a WR2 role to start his career. He brings needed long speed with his 4.44 time in the 40-yard dash. He’ll win Schottenheimer and Prescott over with his knack for executing catches in traffic.</p><p>Ayomanor rises as a new red zone option for this offense. But <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gajZG7xu6uQ" rel="noopener">watch the 2023 film</a> against Colorado to find out how dominating Ayomanor can be. The native of Medicine Hat, Alberta in Canada could fall to the fourth round in a loaded WR class.</p><h2><b>Cowboys add new height at cornerback </b></h2><p>Bland is better suited for nickelback duties. Trevon Diggs remains CB1 for Dallas. But this defense needs an extra long, fast CB next to both.</p><p>Shavon Revel Jr. deserves a phone call during draft weekend from the Cowboys office. The East Carolina standout brings an intriguing blend of towering size (6-foot-2) and coverage speed. Zierlein adds Revel is “disruptive” <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/shavon-revel-jr./32005245-5642-5416-ac3c-20485f3d0919" rel="noopener">the moment he jams a wide receiver</a>. That gives new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus a new press man option next to Diggs.</p><p>Revel brings long arms too that can swat passes. He’s dropping in the draft, though, following his September ACL tear. But the physical attributes are there for him to compete immediately here. After extending Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb, they <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-rumors-cowboys-blindsided-mike-mccarthy-departure">won only seven games and lost their head coach, Mike McCarthy</a>. Now, the Cowboys have the 12th pick in the NFL Draft and are looking for a running back to improve their offense. ESPN’s Jordan Reid says the runner may not come in the first round but could come from Ohio State.</p><p>“Running back is also a need for Dallas,” Reid wrote. “While there has been talk about the Cowboys taking Omarion Hampton (North Carolina) at No. 12, it seems more likely that they’ll use their second-round pick on a runner. The team has expressed interest in Ohio State running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins in that spot.”</p><p>Henderson and Judkins were both incredible for the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/ohio-state-football-news-quinshon-judkins-fans-buzzing-trucking-touchdown">Buckeyes on their run to the National Championship Game</a> last year. Meanwhile, the Cowboys brought back Ezekiel Elliott, who won the title with the Buckeyes ten years ago. There is no debate that the Buckeyes had better running backs than the Cowboys last year.</p><p>Even with Rico Dowdle in the room, the Cowboys should be looking to draft a running back. They had success taking Elliott from Ohio State, but should not take one of these Buckeyes in the first. Because there are a lot of running backs in this draft, Jerry Jones can fill another position of need at 12 before picking a back in the second.</p><p>Reid also acknowledges the connection between the Cowboys and Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden. They paid Lamb, but cannot expect him to get open when there are no other choices for Prescott to throw to. Golden could be a solid second option to Lamb and help Dallas’ offense keep up with the Commanders and Eagles.</p><p>The first round of the NFL Draft is Thursday, April 24.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Dallas Cowboys</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/dallas-cowboys-full-7-round-2025-nfl-mock-draft-per-pfn-simulator">Dallas Cowboys are currently preparing</a> for the upcoming 2025 draft, which figures to be somewhat of a crossroads for the future of the franchise. Dallas is coming off of a disastrous 2024 season in which <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-fans-love-latest-dak-prescott-injury-update">Dak Prescott got injured</a> and the team had little to no wide receiver help outside of CeeDee Lamb.</p><p>This being the case, <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/insider/story/_/id/44587384/2025-nfl-draft-most-polarizing-players-shedeur-sanders-jalen-milroe-mike-green" rel="noopener">many are projecting</a> the Cowboys to look to add to that positional group this spring, and recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler predicted that Dallas will select Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.</p><p>McMillan has been something of a polarizing draft prospect in scouting circles.</p><p>“The good is really good, but the bad is pretty bad,” an NFL coordinator said, per Fowler. “The good is elite ball skills, burst after the catch. The bad is not running routes full speed.”</p><p>Still, that didn’t stop one NFL coach from making a lofty comparison to a former New Orleans Saints star.</p><p>“I like him a lot — he’s not Randy Moss at 6-4 just running past everyone, but he catches everything around 10 yards and closer to the line of scrimmage, and he can physically get people off him to use his long arms to snag it. In a perfect world he’d be like the next Michael Thomas,” said the coach.</p><h2><b>A big decision for the Cowboys</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Former-New-England-Patriots-QB-Joe-Milton.jpg"><figcaption>Chris Jones-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Adding “the next Michael Thomas” would certainly ease the burden on star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who was the Cowboys’ only reliable downfield option throughout the 2024 season, a campaign in which he too was severely banged up by the season’s conclusion.</p><p>The Cowboys also have work to do on other aspects of the roster, including the defense, which was a far cry in 2024 from the heights it had reached over the previous two seasons.</p><p>Still, with a healthy Prescott and a legitimate number two receiver to pair next to Lamb, the Cowboys’ offense could rediscover its form as one of the top units in the NFL.</p><p>The NFL Draft is slated to get underway later this month in Green Bay.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Dallas only won seven games during the regular season after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-officially-places-dak-prescott-ir-season-ending-injury">suffering major injuries to key players like Dak Prescott</a> and Micah Parsons. Thankfully, the Cowboys got some good news on Wednesday just <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/2025-nfl-draft-order-prospects-targets">weeks ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft</a>.</p><p>Wednesday has been a big day for Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. He will be the first player in Cowboys history to <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1909981472611516820" rel="noopener">wear the No. 0 jersey</a> after changing from his previous No. 13, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.</p><p>Overshown also got a positive injury update <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-demarvion-overshown-knee-injury-worse-torn-acl">following his major knee injury from the 2024 season</a>. Schultz reported that Overshown has been progressing well in his recovery. There is even optimism that he could return during the middle of the 2025 NFL season.</p><p>Overshown, nicknamed “Agent 0”, was in the middle of an incredible rookie season before his knee injury. He logged 90 total tackles, five sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, eight tackles for loss, and one defensive touchdown in just 13 games played.</p><p>The Cowboys will likely turn to Marist Liufau as a replacement for Overshown to start the 2025 season.</p><p>Once Overshown is healthy and ready to go, he could take over next to Kenneth Murray Jr. and Jack Sanborn in Dallas’ starting lineup.</p><h2><b>Emmitt Smith calls Cowboys’ Super Bowl brought a ‘crying shame’</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Emmitt-Smith-playing-for-the-Cowboys.jpg"><figcaption>H. Darr Beiser, USA TODAY, USA TODAY via Imagn Content Services, LLC</figcaption></figure><p>The Cowboys need to make some big moves if they want to keep pace in a competitive NFC.</p><p>Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith said in a recent interview that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-emmitt-smith-fires-crying-shame-amid-dallas-super-bowl-drought">Dallas’ lack of postseason success is a ‘crying shame’</a> after the team’s domination during the 1990s.</p><p>“That part bugs me. It bugs me because, in my heart, I truly believe our organization should be contending for an NFC championship game and even a Super Bowl at least once or twice every decade because every team recycles every decade,” Smith said via The Dallas Morning News. “For us not to be there over the last 30 years is a crying shame.”</p><p>Regardless, Smith is still hopeful for the future because he still sees Dallas as a team that is appealing to young players.</p><p>“I look at us and I say, when you draft somebody, they already got to know what’s expected. They already have to know that there comes a long line of historians and history that comes along with it that you have to embrace,” Smith said. “You just cannot ignore it. And you have to figure out, what can I do to leave my mark on the game? And the game is bigger than me.
