We come out here every day with a very competitive mindset with how we handle our business. But it’s just a different body across the line of scrimmage from you. The Seahawks’ preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs was only the third time he’s participated in a preseason contest. However, he’s been a starter throughout the majority of his career, and the preseason is typically a bigger moment for players fighting for a roster spot.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks/seahawks-news-sam-darnold-hit-problematic-reality-seattle">Cooper Kupp is entering the ninth season</a> of his career, but this will be the first he’ll play for Seattle. Seattle overhauled the roster this offseason. They <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks/seahawks-news-seattle-sam-darnold-agree-massive-100-million-contract">added QB Sam Darnold</a> and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks/seahawks-news-agree-sign-cooper-kupp-after-rams-release">veteran receiver Cooper Kupp</a> as pillars of their new-look offense. It appears that Kupp is already having a positive impact on the Seahawks organization.</p><p>Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWNh5C1fWzM&amp;t=1653s&amp;ab_channel=GetGotPodwithMarshawnLynch%26MikeRobinson" rel="noopener">praised the veteran receiver’s leadership</a> during a recent interview.</p><p>First Macdonald explained how he pitched Seattle to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-rams/rams-news-la-releasing-cooper-kupp-after-failing-to-find-trade">Kupp after he was released by Los Angeles</a> back in March.</p><p>“Well, the first guy we’ve had a chance to bring in was Cooper,” Macdonald said about Kupp via Da Get God Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson. “And that was part of the messaging to him that this opportunity, not only was it home for him, but if you go back through his career arc, you know, kind of being on the ground floor. But as a younger player in LA and then, we’ve all seen things he’s done and what they’ve done as a team. But now at this point of your career coming in here. We’re in the second year of this thing that we’re trying to create and like go lead the charge, man.”</p><p>Macdonald believes that Kupp will be the most impactful new addition on a rebuilding Seahawks team.</p><p>He also compared Kupp to Lynch in the one sense. He wants the veteran receiver to feel comfortable being himself. Macdonald is hopeful that Kupp’s relaxed attitude and determined work ethic will rub off on the rest of the team.</p><p>“It’s the same thing I think is with you, Beast Mode Like, we want him just to be him. Just come in, be Cooper,” Macdonald added. “Let that rub off on everybody else, especially in your receiver room, rest of the offense. Like we talked about being loose and focused. I mean, the attention to detail, but like such a great guy to hang around with, great personality, great sense of humor, but about his business, too. And I think you’re kind of seeing that personality, you know, flow through the rest of the offense, which is which is really cool. And the rest of the team.”</p><p>Kupp will play a prominent role in Seattle’s offense this fall. They also brought in a new QB1, signing Sam Darnold to a big deal.</p><p>Darnold and Kupp will headline the Seahawks’ new-look offense, and the signal-caller explained on The Rich Eisen Show <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=556&amp;v=GJIOclhDxeY&amp;feature=youtu.be" rel="noopener">why he believes</a> Kupp is unique:</p><p>“Coop is amazing, the way he moves is very unique I think. Being able to get a ton of reps with him and just see how he kind of gets in and out of routes, like I said it’s different. That’s what made him such a great player, just the way you know he can make certain routes look the same and he ends up in completely different spot. It’s very unique and he is different that way.”</p><p>Kupp is a seasoned veteran, and he’s one of the best route runners in the NFL. While the pass-catcher has dealt with a lot of injury problems in the past couple of years, he gets a fresh start in Seattle, the same state he grew up in and played college football at Eastern Washington.</p><p>In 2021, Kupp was easily the best wide receiver in the league. He caught 145 passes for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, helping the Rams win a Super Bowl. If he can find that brilliance again with the Seahawks, it’s going to do wonders for this team as they look to make a playoff return.</p><p>As for Darnold, he just had a resurgent campaign in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings, which attracted the interest of Seattle. They <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/raiders-news-shocking-geno-smith-trade-seahawks">traded QB1 Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders</a>, who is set to reunite with Pete Carroll.</p><p>Darnold and Kupp’s potential chemistry will be key in the Seahawks’ 2025 season. One undrafted player is looking to make his mark with the Patriots during training camp.</p><p>Patriots UDFA wide receiver Efton Chism III is <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45073148/new-england-patriots-undrafted-rookie-efton-chism-iii-cooper-kupp" rel="noopener">looking to following in the footsteps</a> of Cooper Kupp.</p><p>Chism III graduated from Eastern Washington University, just like Kupp. He is hopeful that he can make a similar impact in the NFL.</p><p>“We all know it’s not where you start, it’s where you end,” Eastern Washington coach Aaron Best told ESPN. “No one knew about Cooper Kupp 10 years ago, other than [playing in] the Big Sky Conference. Now everybody knows about Cooper Kupp when he’s a Super Bowl champion and MVP of that game, and also a triple crown winner.”</p><p>Kupp won the triple crown during the 2021 season, leading the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16).</p><p>Chism’s alma mater is not the only similarity between himself and Kupp.</p><p>“Efton is not the biggest. He’s not the fastest. He’s not the strongest,” Best continued. “But I will say he’s most committed — his Valentine is bigger than most people. His care of his teammates is bigger than most people. When you have a chip on your shoulder, that’s real and you carry it for life. That’s what he did in high school to get to college. He wasn’t a highly recruited kid out of high school. No FBS offers, much like Coop.”</p><p>Chism has a surprisingly similar background to Kupp. Hopefully he can use it as motivation during his NFL career.</p><p>“It didn’t define him,” Best said. “It determined him. He just needed a chance,” Best concluded. “He got it here at a school he loved and he thrived in every aspect.”</p><h2><b>Can Efton Chism III earn a roster spot on the Patriots in 2025?</b></h2><p>Chism will face plenty of competition to win a roster spot in New England.</p><p>The Patriots have a loaded receiver room, especially following the 2025 NFL Draft. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-stefon-diggs-hints-at-reason-he-signed-with-patriots">Veteran WR Stefon Diggs</a>, DeMario Douglas, and rookie Kyle Williams are expected to be Drake Maye’s top options at receiver</p><p>Behind them, it gets complicated pretty quickly.</p><p>Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, and Mack Hollins are all experienced receivers who could earn a role. There are also second-year receivers Javon Baker and Ja’Lynn Polk to consider, as well as a few other camp bodies.</p><p>If Chism wants to earn a roster spot, his best shot is to make an impact on special teams.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
