Nix finished the game with 216 passing yards and nine carries for 47 yards and a touchdown. After the game, wide receiver Courtland Sutton had nothing but <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/courtland-sutton-we-saw-a-really-good-glimpse-of-bo-nixs-potential-sunday" rel="noopener">good things to say</a> about Nix and was excited about the potential of the quarterback.</p><p>“Him being able to see the defense and understanding the game plan and knowing what plays will work for us, it’s encouraging to see that, because it’s only his third week,” Sutton said. “I think I’ve spoken at length about it still being early for him. Then go into the next week and get ready to go because [if] you sit there and dwell on it, then some things that may have beaten you the week prior are going to come back and rear their heads in the next week. That’s what you don’t want.</p><p>“Especially with a young team and a lot of young guys,” Sutton continued. “You don’t want them to get discouraged on themselves and think that the world is crashing because they may have had one mistake, or they didn’t have the game they wanted to have. Broncos star wide receiver Courtland Sutton was speaking to Kay Adams on the “Up &amp; Adams” show where he spoke about the quarterback battle and what he saw out of Nix as the team beat the Indianapolis Colts, 34-30.</p><p>Besides Nix, the others in the quarterback room that are in competition is JarRett Stidham and former first round pick for the New York Jets in Zach Wilson. While Sutton <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoZaAGQRots&amp;t=165s" rel="noopener">would give credit to Stidham and Wilson for competing</a> saying that head coach Sean Payton will leave the battle “open,” he was impressed by Nix in the preseason opener where he thew for 125 yards and a touchdown in four scoring drives.</p><p>“I think coach wants to leave it open and see what happens, I think the guys have been doing really well,” Sutton said. “I don’t want to discredit Zach and Jarrett…but Bo had a really good showing in the preseason game, and watching him go out there and command the huddle, command the offense, especially in the 2 minute drill, I think it’s really cool to go out there and see him do that, and have the success that he had. McCarthy. Out of all the rookie signal-callers, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/broncos-news-sean-payton-honest-bo-nix-impressive-debut">Nix arguably looked the best</a> as Payton <a href="https://x.com/TroyRenck/status/1823789388607971619" rel="noopener">would even say how “comfortable he looked”</a> according to Troy Renck.</p><p>“He was comfortable in the pocket, I thought his locations were good,” Payton said at Wednesday’s practice. “The number one thing to do with quarterback is lead your team, and we scored. There’s two plays where I think he can set his feet, he’s kind of backing up a little bit, we can clean that up. While that will not always be the case once he eventually plays a regular season matchup, it still could be an impressive trait by Broncos fans since the 24-year old is likely seen as the face of the franchise.</p><p>“I felt very calm and relaxed back there,” Nix said after his preseason debut. “It’s just a game. They were still in Cover 3 and quarters and man. It’s the same defense. You’ve just got to figure out which one they’re in and then execute the play that’s called.”</p><p>The next Broncos preseason game will be against the Green Bay Packers Sunday in preparation for their Week 1 matchup facing the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 8.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Russell Wilson years felt like a bit of purgatory for the Broncos, but they are<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/1-surprising-player-who-could-make-break-broncos-2024-nfl-season"> finally building towards a better future</a>. Denver has had some success finding players who have bought into this new vision of the team. Count Courtland Sutton among those players.</p><p>According to NFL.com’s Grant Gordon, Courtland Sutton <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/broncos-courtland-sutton-reported-on-time-settled-for-restructure-because-i-believe-in-this-organization" rel="noopener">is a true believer</a> in the new Denver Broncos system.</p><p>“I believe in this system,” Sutton told Tom Pelissero and Cynthia Frelund on Tuesday’s Inside Training Camp Live on NFL Network. “I believe in this organization. Being here going into my seventh year, I believe in what the Broncos organization has stood for for years, and I know that we have what we need to be able to get this organization back into the rankings that it needs to be in. I believe in the offense coach [Sean] Payton and the guys put together.”</p><p>Sutton has good reason to believe in this version of the Denver Broncos. His best career season came in his first year under Payton, where he logged 59 receptions for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns.</p><p>Sutton expects the Broncos to be successful in 2024, regardless of the outside noise that doubts their chances.</p><p>“Like I said, we had success last year,” Sutton said. “We may have come up short a few times, but we’ve had success. And I think there’s a lot more promise that’s there that a lot of people may not believe in, and that’s completely fine with us because we like to play with that chip on our shoulders.”</p><h2><b>Courtland Sutton recently agreed to $15.2 million contract restructure with Broncos</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/courtland-sutton-denver-broncos-los-angeles-rams-dec-2023.jpg"><figcaption>Yannick Peterhans-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>This NFL offseason has been dominated by wide receiver news. Several players have inked lucrative long-term extensions, while others are holding out for a new contract.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/broncos-news-denver-agrees-to-15-million-courtland-sutton-contract-restructure">Courtland Sutton did not take the same approach</a> as other NFL wide receivers, but he still got rewarded for his hard work.</p><p>According to Tom Pelissero, last week the Broncos and Courtland Sutton <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1816505057522880732" rel="noopener">agreed to restructure his contract</a>. This allows Sutton to earn more money in his second-to-last year of the deal.</p><p>Pelissero noted that Sutton “reported to training camp on time and Denver sweetened the deal for one of its team leaders.”</p><p>Sutton’s new deal includes $1.5 million in new incentives along with a base salary of $13 million. He can make up to $15.2 million in 2024.</p><p>It is good to see the Broncos reward one of their most vocal leaders. Sutton is also deserving based on tenure — only Garrett Bolles has been on the team longer than Sutton.</p><p>We can’t wait to see this new Broncos team in action later this fall!</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
