He played in every game, making a career-high 253 rushes for 959 yards and six touchdowns. He was also active in pass-catching situations, making 42 receptions for 386 yards.</p><p>Swift will look to help Chicago return to the playoffs, something they haven’t done since 2020. Last season was underwhelming for the squad, finishing with a 5-12 record. They will also be competing for the NFC North Division crown, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2018.</p><p>The Bears will prepare for their regular-season opener, being at home. Some <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/grading-dandre-swift-bears-contract-3-year-24-million">Bears fans liked the signing when it happened</a>. Since then, fans have cooled off on Swift, and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-rumors-urged-draft-ashton-jeanty-biggest-need">Bears have even been urged to draft Ashton Jeanty</a> with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bengals-news-cincinnati-acquires-bears-rb-trade-deadline-day">trading away Khalil Herbert to the Cincinnati Bengals</a> for a 2025 seventh-round pick, the Bears could be kicking themselves, wishing they had him back for this week.</p><p>If Swift doesn’t play on Monday, this is what their running back room would look like behind him.</p><ul><li>Roschon Johnson (OUT)</li><li>Travis Homer</li><li>Ian Wheeler (IR)</li></ul><p>So, it would be a massive understatement to say Swift’s status for Monday Night Football is rather important for the Bears’ offense.</p><h2><b>Bears HC Thomas Brown gives promising injury update on RB D’Andre Swift</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/DAndre-Swift-1.jpg"><figcaption>Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>While Swift started the season on a rough note in his first year with the Bears, he’s been more productive in the second half.</p><p>For the first three games of the season, he combined for less than 80 rushing yards, causing some fans to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-riskiest-free-agency-move-in-2024-nfl-offseason">wonder why Ryan Poles even signed Swift</a> in the first place.</p><p>However, from Week 4-8, Swift was a completely different back, rushing for fewer than 90 yards in just one game.</p><p>Now, Swift is back to lackluster rushing performances, tallying three games in a row with fewer than 40 rushing yards.</p><p>So, while his production has been disappointing, the Bears’ offense could be in trouble without Swift against the Vikings on Monday night.</p><p>Not that Homer is a bad back, but with him as the only running back for Chicago’s offense against Brian Flores’ defense, it could get messy.</p><p>Regardless, the Bears are hopeful they can avoid eight consecutive losses, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-caleb-williams-7-game-losing-streak">longest losing streak in Caleb Williams’ football career</a>.</p><p>And while the Bears’ injury report has Swift listed as questionable, Brown doesn’t expect their starting running back to miss Monday Night Football.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Swift did not practice today due to a groin injury.”</p><p>With the Bears getting healthier by the week, Swift’s status, however, remains uncertain.</p><p>Swift was a non-participant on Thursday and Friday. Now, with a game on Monday night, Swift has a little more time to rehab his groin injury.</p><p>In Week 14, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-dj-moore-dandre-swift-gameday-injury-updates-vs-49ers">Swift was held out of two practices</a> with a quad injury. Though he didn’t practice on the first two days of the week, Swift still saw the field against the San Francisco 49ers.</p><p>And with his first two days of practice missed in Week 15, his designation on Saturday looks to be the determining factor on whether Swift is good to go or not.</p><h2>Bears get injury update on RB D’Andre Swift ahead of MNF vs. Vikings</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/DAndre-Swift.jpg"><figcaption>Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>With Roschon Johnson not participating in practice on Thursday or Friday due to a concussion sustained in Week 13, he could miss his second straight game. If Johnson remains out this week, Travis Homer would be the team’s only active backup running back behind Swift.</p><p>Behind Homer is Ian Wheeler, who became a fan favorite following his screen time on this season’s “Hard Knocks” featuring the Bears.</p><p>Wheeler would be a great addition to this running back room, especially if Swift is sidelined for Monday night’s game. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hbos-hard-knocks-features-heartfelt-moment-between-bears-rb-ian-wheeler-his-mother">Wheeler was placed on IR</a> four months ago following a torn ACL in the Bears’ final preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.</p><p>Swift still played in Week 14 after missing the first two days of practice, meaning he could do the same this week. Their extra day of rehab gives both Swift and the Bears a chance to get healthy since they don’t play until Monday night.</p><p>While <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-braxton-jones-annihilate-packers-defender-dandre-swift-td">Swift saw an uptick in production</a> from Weeks 4-8, he’s begun balancing back out with three performances in a row with fewer than 50 rushing yards. That could be due to the lower-body injuries he’s playing through. The Bears need to rally during the final weeks of the regular season to carry some positive momentum into the offseason.</p><p>Thankfully, Chicago got a pair of injury updates ahead of their Week 14 game against San Francisco.</p><p>Bears WR DJ Moore <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1865630401890337089" rel="noopener">is expected to play</a> against the 49ers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Moore is officially listed as questionable with a quad injury. Schefter also confirmed that Bears RB D’Andre Swift will play against the 49ers as well. Swift is also listed as questionable with a quad injury.</p><p>This is great news for a Bears team that desperately needs a win, if only for morale purposes. Moore and Swift are important pieces of Chicago’s offense, so having them on the field is a big lift.</p><p>The 49ers have not been the fearsome team of recent memory, but they are still a tough out for any NFL team. It is big for the Bears to have Moore and Swift available.</p><p>Moore is having a down year after a career season in 2023. He has hauled in 62 receptions for 663 yards and five touchdowns through 12 games. However, he’s started to look like his old self during the month of November.</p><p>Swift is the lead back in Chicago and is on pace to repeat his statistics from 2023 with Philadelphia. He has 179 carries for 704 rushing yards with five touchdowns this season. Swift has also contributed 313 yards as a receiver.</p><h2><b>Keenan Allen drops optimistic take on Bears’ outlook under interim HC</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Keenan-Allen.jpg"><figcaption>Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Bears fans can be forgiven for thinking that there’s nothing left to cheer for in 2024. However, veteran WR Keenan Allen disagrees.</p><p>Allen <a href="https://x.com/BearsMarquee/status/1864801927214829736" rel="noopener">dropped an optimistic take</a> when asked if the Bears will look better under <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-thomas-brown-initial-goal-replacing-matt-eberflus">interim head coach Thomas Brown</a>.</p><p>“Definitely got to wait and see,” Allen told reporters on Thursday per Marquee Bears. “But, yeah, I do.”</p><p>Brown initially took over as Chicago’s interim offensive coordinator after the team <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-exact-reasons-fired-shane-waldron">fired Shane Waldron earlier this season</a>. He did a good enough job with the offense that Chicago’s leadership decided to make him the interim head coach.</p><p>Thomas Brown clearly has the support of the locker room, as evidenced by Allen’s statement.</p><p>Brown has a chance to compete for Chicago’s full-time head coaching job this offseason, especially if the team performs well down the stretch.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
