During the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, star tight end Dallas Goedert <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1845514424683233403" rel="noopener">went down with a hamstring injury</a> and was originally questionable before it was determined that <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1845534828701061349" rel="noopener">he will not return</a> to the game, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.</p><p>“Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring) has been ruled out for the game,” Pelissero reported on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>Goedert had just one target and no catches at the time of his exit. He was having a stellar season coming into Week 6, leading the Eagles in receiving with 301 yards on 28 catches. He has been an effective safety valve for Jalen Hurts this season, stepping up in the absence of Browns and Smith due to their injuries earlier in the season.</p><p><a href="https://x.com/art_stapleton/status/1845548037890060620" rel="noopener">In addition to Goedert’s injury</a>, Philadelphia lost Darius Slay and Jordan Mailata, with the latter getting carted off the field late in the game. It has been a tough day for the Eagles as they try to hold off the Browns.</p><p>The Eagles’ offense got off to a slow start against the struggling Browns, but Hurts has picked things up as the game has gone on. Hurts has thrown for over 200 yards and two touchdowns to give Philadelphia a 20-16 lead late in the fourth quarter.</p><p>On the other hand, the defense has scuffled a bit after starting strong against Deshaun Watson. Injuries have piled up on offense, but the Eagles have still managed to earn a 2-1 record. If Philadelphia can <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-ex-philly-super-bowl-champ-questions-nick-siriannis-decision-making">figure out how to score more points in the red zone</a>, then they will be as good as gold.</p><p>Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert <a href="https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1838617517872329160" rel="noopener">spoke about the team’s red zone woes</a> on a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.</p><p>“Last year we kind of spiraled out of control, went downhill,” Goedert said. “Spent the offseason getting it fixed up. Obviously got Saquon, waiting for AJ to get back so our offense can get clicking to the way it always is. You know it’s really exciting, we’ve got to continue to beat the blitz and just do the things like take care of the football. We’ve been turning it over too much and then score points in the red zone, that’s big in this league.”</p><p>Goedert admitting that turnovers are a problem points a finger at QB Jalen Hurts in a way. While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nick-sirianni-gives-honest-review-of-eagles-new-coordinators-vs-packers">Eagles escaped with a 34-29 win over the Packers</a> in the first NFL game ever played in Brazil, the dangers of playing on a soccer-esque, grassy field in wet weather were on full display. Eagles star offensive players Jalen Hurts and Dallas Goedert responded to how it was <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41158187/slippery-field-brazil-causes-challenges-eagles-packers" rel="noopener">playing through the challenges at Arena Corinthians</a>.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-jordan-love-suffers-scary-injury-in-brazil-eagles">Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a scary injury</a> with time elapsing toward the end of the fourth quarter. Not necessarily due to the field conditions (though they didn’t help matters), but it was the final precarious sign that fans needed to see, to finally be ready for their respective team’s players to just get themselves out of harm’s way and head to the postgame interviews.</p><p>As for Hurts, whose 20 completions for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions were enough to get the job done for Philly, he was certainly relieved when the game ended.</p><p>“I mean, y’all saw out there that it was kind of rough to get traction,” Eagles quarterback Hurts said. “Definitely challenging on that field. It’s not the type of field we’re used to playing on. We’ve had that type of field before. They had to play on it, as well. I’m just happy that we found a way to figure it out as a team, overcome it.”</p><h2><b>Eagles TE Dallas Goedert didn’t like the field in Brazil either</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Jalen-Hurts.jpg"><figcaption>Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Goedert chimed in, as well.</p><p>“It kind of reminded me of the Super Bowl turf,” said tight end Goedert, referencing the surface in Arizona when the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.</p><p>“I ran a route full speed when we did the walkthrough [Thursday], slipped, and I said, ‘I’m not going to make the same mistake twice, I’m going to seven studs,'” Goedert said.</p><p>A number of incidents occurred throughout the slippery contest. New star running back Saquon Barkley opened his Eagles debut by embarrassingly falling in the backfield on his very first rushing attempt. A few years ago, Dallas Goedert was being billed as the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-philadelphia-trades-zach-ertz-cardinals">heir apparent to Philadelphia Eagles legend Zach Ertz</a>. Now, Goedert is one of the veterans on the squad. With age comes uncertainty, though. Goedert is 29, and his contract is going to expire at the end of the 2024 season. There’s a distinct possibility that the TE might be let go by the team.</p><p>Goedert isn’t sweating it too much, though. In a recent interview, the Eagles tight end was asked about how he feels coming into what could be his final season in Philly. Goedert <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/eagles-dallas-goedert-contract-kellen-moore-offense-20240622.html" rel="noopener">said that he’s not thinking about that</a> too much, and is instead focusing on helping his team get back to the Super Bowl, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.</p><p>“I feel really good,” Goedert said when asked if he felt like he was entering a prove-it or contract year of sorts. “I’m not too worried about it. I love being in Philadelphia. I’m going to give them everything I’ve got and let the chips fall where they may fall.”</p><p>Much has obviously been made about the Eagles’ stacked wide receiver room. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are one of the best WR duos in the entire league. The newly-acquired Saquon Barkley also <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-how-saquon-barkley-is-already-making-big-impression-on-jalen-hurts-a-j-brown">provides Philly with more firepower</a>. That being said, Goedert is just as important to the offense. Last season, he was third on the team in receiving yards.</p><p>The tight end position is a little undervalued at times these days. Even the best tight ends have extremely low salaries compared to the other pass-catchers. Teams are also more willing to let an average tight end go in the name of cutting costs. Will this happen with Goedert? Who knows.</p><h2><b>Eagles’ brand new offense</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Eagles-Dallas-Goedert-during-the-Wild-Card-round.jpg"><figcaption>Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>Goedert and the Eagles have bigger fish to fry than this contract discussion. After the disaster that was their 2023 season, Philly is<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-jim-harbaugh-chargers-lose-kellen-moore-to-philly-coaching-carousel"> bringing in a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore</a>. A new OC means a brand-new system in learn in the offseason. Goedert talked about the learning curve with Moore as well.</p><p>“He’s been doing a great job of just making the (Eagles) offense make sense and we kind of changed up the reads and different things like that throughout,” Goedert said. “I feel like it’ll play in favor of the tight end, the quick game a little bit, getting back to the pivots, the sticks that I caught earlier in my career that went away a little bit… I’m really excited for how he uses the tight end and how he feels like they can be a big part of the offense and help win games.”</p><p>The Eagles offense was in 2023 was… miserable, for lack of a better word. Their offense became way too predictable. “Run-run-pass” is a meme, but Philadelphia took that meme and ran with it all season long. The hope is that Moore’s offensive prowess will make their offensive engine run as smooth as butter again.</p><p>After making it all the way to the Super Bowl, the Eagles were embarrassingly bounced in the Wild Card round last season. It was an emotional game,” the Eagles tight end said.</p><p>Philadelphia backup quarterback <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-dallas-goedert-strong-words-for-jalen-hurts-struggle-vs-bucs" rel="noopener">Marcus Mariota tried to pacify</a> the situation by getting in between Jalen Hurts and Dallas Goedert, who looked frustrated as he walked away from the scene.</p><p>After reaching the Super Bowl in 2023 and starting the 2023 NFL season with 10 wins in 11 games, the Eagles fell back to earth quickly, with their season culminating in the brutal 32-9 road loss at the hands of the Buccaneers.</p><p>Goedert finished the game with just 21 receiving yards on four catches and six targets, though, he had the only Eagles touchdown of the game.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
