He’s already been making his presence felt through practices and fielding questions with the media. However, the latest buzz in the rumor mill suggests both DJ Moore and Cole Kmet are on thin ice with Johnson.</p><p>There have been reports that Moore and Kmett have both been reprimanded by the 39-year-old head coach during practices early in the summer, according to Jordan Sigler of Chi City Sports. DJ Moore claims that Johnson got on him about his body language after certain plays, while the Bears’ new head coach yelled at Kmet for lining up on a play incorrectly.</p><p>“Kmet and Moore have already had rude awakenings from Johnson and his staff during OTAs. Johnson yelled at Kmet when the veteran tight end lined up incorrectly for a play during team period. Moore said Johnson addressed his body language following plays and passes that don’t go the way the star receiver wants them to.”</p><p>These are, of course, rumors, as both of these reports are typically normal occurrences during practice, especially this early in the offseason. However, the fact that the Bears picked a wide receiver and tight end in the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft could indicate that Ben Johnson wants to make a change at the positions at some point down the road.</p><p>“The Bears drafted Michigan standout Colston Loveland with the No. 10 pick. At No. 39, Chicago selected wide receiver Luther Burden III. On paper, wide receiver and tight end didn’t appear to be the team’s greatest needs.”</p><p>This is all speculation, as there are no quotes from Johnson saying he’d like to move on from either DJ Moore or Cole Kmet. But <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-news-ben-johnson-expresses-concern-chicago-2nd-round-pick">considering the Bears already</a> had Moore and Rome Odunze at wide receiver, while Kmet served as the starting tight end, it was a bit odd to see Chicago draft Burden and Loveland with its first two picks.</p><p>We’ll see how it plays out, as only time will tell how Johnson truly feels about Moore and Kmet. Johnson is expected to work with quarterback Caleb Williams and improve the Bears’ 32nd ranked offense.</p><p>Johnson met with players at the Bears’ facilities and left an interesting <a href="https://x.com/UpAndAdamsShow/status/1887208048499753208" rel="noopener">first impression</a>. “I was left with being scared,” wideout DJ Moore admitted via Up &amp; Adams on X. “He said ‘Be comfortable being uncomfortable,’” Moore explained. When asked if fans should like that, he quickly replied, “you should.”</p><p>That message probably wasn’t meant to instill fear. But whatever works. First-year wideout Rome Odunze had a different takeaway. “I liked his intensity. The Bears selected Williams first overall in the 2024 draft. The rookie passer put together a decent first season, throwing for 3,541 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. However, he led the league with 68 sacks and the Bears went 5-12. Still, Johnson sees the potential in Williams and the offense.</p><p>Moore completed his second season in Chicago as a dependable weapon for Williams. He had 98 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns. The seven-year veteran just missed posting his fifth career 1,000-yard season in 2024 and he should thrive in Johnson’s system with Williams under center.</p><p>Moore appeared surprised when he learned <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-dj-moore-drops-13-million-truth-bomb-ben-johnson">Johnson was making $13 million</a> a year as the Bears’ head coach, saying, “Shoot, that’s a lot of money.” But after dealing with less than adequate coaching during his Bears tenure, Moore acknowledged, “When you find the right person to lead the team and the right mindset, money isn’t an object.”</p><p>The Bears were clearly convinced they had found the right person. He earns just $1 million per season less than 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and the same amount more than Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.</p><p>NFL owner tend to be more careful handing out lucrative coaching contracts compared to player contracts. Part of the reason is the nature of each type of contract. Player contracts are incredibly complicated and include a base salary, roster bonuses, signing bonus, and other incentives. These make the final amount of cash earned by a player difficult to determine at first glance.</p><p>Meanwhile, most NFL head coaching contracts are fully guaranteed. Johnson isn’t going to raid Dan Campbell’s staff.”</p><p>Johnson will likely target experienced NFL coaches to become his coordinators. The position coaches could be a place where Johnson takes some shots on some younger coaches.</p><p>First, Johnson will need to figure out who he wants to keep from Chicago’s existing coaching staff. However, they got the last laugh over their arch-rival Green Bay Packers in Week 18.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-chicago-end-number-brutal-streaks-last-second-win-over-packers">Bears came away with a 24-22 victory</a> thanks to a 51-yard Cairo Santos field goal as time expired. The Packers may have already clinched their playoff spot, but DJ Moore <a href="https://x.com/grotesports/status/1876022099963428894?s=46&amp;t=0VgLvCcpTsmLUyl6hpiIew" rel="noopener">still went scorched earth</a> after knocking them off, via Mark Grote of 670TheScore.</p><p>“We beat the Packers. F**k ’em,” Moore said.</p><p>Chicago hadn’t won at Lambeau Field since 2015. As a whole, they had lost their last 11 matchups against the Packers, dating back to 2019. Sunday marked the first time head coach Matt LaFleur has ever lost to the Bears.</p><p>Of course, the circumstances weren’t under usual standards. Green Bay <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-jordan-love-christian-watson-exit-bears-game-injuries" rel="noopener">lost quarterback Jordan Love and wide receiver Christian Watson to injury</a> during the game. While they were still battling for playoff seeding, they decided to hold Love out for the remainder of the game. Should Love have returned, who knows what the outcome would’ve been.</p><p>But Moore, nor the NFL live in hypotheticals. The Packers may have their playoff spot, but the Bears got to knock them off at their home turf. Anytime both sides play, no matter what is on the line, it’s a serious matter for each franchise.</p><p>Moore did everything in his power to have the Bears go out on top, leading the game with nine receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. As Chicago plans for the 2025 season, the Caleb Williams to DJ Moore connection will be at the front of their minds.</p><p>The buzz will eventually wear off, and Moore and company will realize they have another offseason of changes in front of them. But it has been a disastrous season for Chicago, led by a lengthy losing streak and the firing of head coach Matt Eberflus. As they head towards 2025, the Bears are hopeful their win over the Packers exorcised their demons and sent them on a path to success.</p><p>But even if the Bears were 0-16, Moore is still showing up for any matchup against the Packers.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Most recently, former Seattle Seahawks and USC head coach <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-bears-conversation-pete-carroll-hc-opening">Pete Carroll’s name was mentioned as a possible fit</a> for the Bears’ head coaching vacancy, which Bears receiver DJ Moore seemingly would be on board for. Following the rumors, Moore joined 670 The Score, <a href="https://x.com/670TheScore/status/1872650754911322607" rel="noopener">giving his thoughts</a> on the possibility of the Bears bringing in Carroll.</p><p>“He’s respected, and he has done it at a high level,” Moore said. “Everybody would have to pay attention and listen. Because he has done it already.”</p><p>As a coach, Carroll is one of the top coaches potentially interested in the Bears’ open head coach position.</p><p>Carroll began his coaching career in 1973 as a graduate assistant for the University of Pacific, spending three years with the Tigers. Then, following stints with Arkansas, Iowa State, Ohio State, and North Carolina State, Carroll would return to Pacific for one season in 1983 as a defensive coordinator.</p><p>After his final season with Pacific, Carroll would make his first entrance into the NFL, joining the Buffalo Bills as a defensive backs coach in 1984.</p><p>Not long after, Carroll would get his first head coaching gig with the New York Jets in 1994, leading them to a 6-10 record.</p><p>However, after a couple of years as the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator following his time with the Jets, Carroll made his second attempt at being a head coach, leading the New England Patriots from 1997-99. In those three seasons, the Patriots were 27-21 under the second-time head coach.</p><p>Carroll’s next move is when his legacy truly started, as he joined the USC Trojans from 2001-09, coaching the team to an overall record of 97-19 and cementing himself in NCAA history.</p><p>That’s not where Carroll would call it quits, however.</p><p>After making a legacy for himself at USC, he joined the Seahawks and coached them for 14 years. In that time, Carroll led the Seahawks to a 137-89-1 record, appearing in two Super Bowls and winning one.</p><p>Along with his two Super Bowl appearances, Carroll led Seattle to 10 playoff runs in 14 years, nearly making the postseason each season.</p><h2><b>Former HC Pete Carroll ‘respected’ by Bears WR DJ Moore </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Pete-Carroll.jpg"><figcaption>Mike DiNovo-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Now, going back to what Moore said, the Bears could certainly use a proven leader like Carroll running the show.</p><p>However, it’s a tricky situation for a team looking to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-jaylon-johnson-caleb-williams-stability-hc-search">build around their No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams</a>.</p><p>Given his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-pete-carroll-aged-out-bears-hc-consideration-according-insider">spry age of 73</a>, it’s difficult to decide between the older coach who’s run the show and the new guy on the block with unknown potential.</p><p>As of Week 17 in the 2024 season, the most likely head coach candidates for the Bears are Carroll, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-how-ben-johnson-feels-about-bears-head-coach-opening">Ben Johnson</a>, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-rich-eisen-names-mike-ditka-type-personality-coach-revive-chicago-glory-days">Mike Vrabel</a>.</p><p>Of those three, Johnson has the highest upside, considering his offensive mind and age, paired with a second-year quarterback with all of the tools.</p><p>At the same time, Johnson’s abilities as a head coach are completely unknown. He could be great, or he could be awful. Without having experience as a head coach before, he’s a gamble.</p><p>On the opposite side of the spectrum, Carroll is much less of a gamble, given his extensive resume.</p><p>And after hearing what Moore had to say about him as the Bears’ next coach, the receiver doesn’t seem opposed to the former Seahawks’ head coach making his way to Halas Halle.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After saying he was thinking about ‘vacation,’ it sparked outrage from the fanbase and people across the NFL. Luckily, Moore <a href="https://x.com/670TheScore/status/1871196615412990004" rel="noopener">clarified his comments</a> about what he was meant to say.</p><p>“It was definitely taken the wrong way,” Moore said via 670 The Score on X. “He definitely asked about the offseason and the next head coach or coaches that will be coming in. I wasn’t trying to say I was on vacation already.”</p><p>They’ve had plenty of reasons to think about vacation this season. A 4-10 record with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/meet-caleb-williams-the-bears-no-1-pick-in-2024-nfl-draft">Bears No. 1 pick, Caleb Williams</a>, wasn’t on the agenda. Also, the addition of wide receivers, No. 10 pick Rome Odunze, and Keenan Allen had people believing this was a playoff team. Even with Williams being a rookie, the pieces seemed to be in place. With a top-tier defense, they believed the offense was ready.</p><p>Moore’s <a href="https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/chicago-bears/dj-moore-caleb-williams-keenan-allen/" rel="noopener">initial comments were interesting</a>, to say the least.</p><p>“What I’m thinking about? Vacation,” Moore said in a video that can be watched in full here. “Let [the coaches] do all the work and then, you know, just come back and ready to go.</p><h2><b>DJ Moore’s vacation comments are a microcosm of the Bears season</b></h2><p>Despite the comments, Moore himself has been the bright spot offensively for Chicago. He has caught 76 passes on 112 targets for 758 receiving yards and five touchdowns across 14 games this season. Even with the down season, he leads the team in receiving yards.</p><p>Last season, Moore developed exceptional chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields. As a result, the former Carolina Panthers receiver had a career season. He hauled in 96 grabs for 1,364 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Also, it was Moore’s first season with the team.</p><p>Fast forward to the 2024 season, and it’s been the opposite effect. However, a rookie quarterback doesn’t make matters easier. In addition to that, the NFC North is stacked with playoff teams. The Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers are all set to make it in one fashion or another.</p><p>After all, the Lions whooped the Bears 34-17 on Sunday. While Chicago is out of playoff contention, they have plenty of rebuilding to do. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-fire-matt-eberflus-following-lions-disaster">Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus</a> and offensive Shane Waldron halfway through the season. Furthermore, they have a decision to make with their head coach. But Moore admitted the moment when the Bears’ season <a href="https://x.com/670TheScore/status/1869064076145594778" rel="noopener">scattered off the rails</a>, according to a post on X by 670 The Score.</p><p>“It comes down to us having that early bye week and then going to Washington and losing like we did. It was just a trickle-down effect.”</p><p>Moore referred to the Bears’ 18-15 loss to the Commanders in Week 8. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels scrambled around for nearly 13 seconds before heaving a Hail Mary for a 52-yard touchdown and an improbable 18-15 Commanders victory.</p><h2><b>Bears WR D.J. But Moore said the team never got out from under the weight of the Washington loss.</p><p>“We went out there and battled, (but) crazy things would happen,” Moore said. “Like a blocked kick. Things lined up back to back to back. And it was like, this is really going the wrong way. But if we didn’t lose that game (to Washington), we would still be rolling. And it could have been a different outcome.”</p><p>Moore is a central part of the Bears’ offense. Interim head coach Thomas Brown has tried to find ways to get the ball in Moore’s hands. Brown said it’s a <a href="https://www.chicagobears.com/news/5-things-we-learned-from-bears-play-caller-thomas-brown-caleb-williams-offense#:~:text=Moore%20is%20known%20for%20his,the%20game%2C%22%20Brown%20said." rel="noopener">simple thing to do</a>, according to chicagobears.com.</p><p>“It’s easy to get him involved in the game,” Brown said. “I think regardless of what people kind of play coverage-wise or try to play against him to take away possible throws, if you hand it to him, give him a bubble behind the line of scrimmage, you’ve got to tackle him in space, and that guy’s pretty dynamic when you get the ball in his hand. So whether it’s screens, quick-game throws, vertical down-the-field throws, any way to get that guy in space, I’m all about.”</p><p>Brown added that Moore makes <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbQF1KRDgO4" rel="noopener">things happen consistently</a>, according to the Chicago Bears YouTube page.</p><p>“DJ is obviously really good right after catch. But perhaps worst of all, D.J. Moore dropped a brutally honest take on the Bears’ lack of effort and execution after the setback against the Vikings.</p><p>The Bears suffered a humbling 30-12 loss to their division rivals on Monday night. The setback moved the Bears’ unsightly losing streak to eight games after a 4-2 start. With the recent ordeal fresh, Moore said the team <a href="https://x.com/CourtneyRCronin/status/1868900712480227664" rel="noopener">isn’t playing hard</a>, according to a post on X by Courtney Cronin.</p><p>“D.J. Moore on whether he can tell the difference between a lack of effort or execution by the Bears right now. ‘No. You can’t. We don’t know where it’s coming from but if you don’t got no effort, you don’t got no execution.’ ”</p><h2><b>Bears WR D.J. Suffice to say it has been a tough year.</p><p>But Moore isn’t the only Bears player <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43017572/caleb-williams-sums-rookie-year-frustrating-encouraging-8th-straight-bears-loss" rel="noopener">feeling the frustration</a>. Cole Kmet is there, too, according to espn.com.</p><p>“I think what I’ve learned through it all is you’ve got to be on your own s—,” Kmet said. “Trying to get other guys to do certain things or other people to do certain things, it takes away from your own preparation. So you’ve got to take care of your own s—. And just do your job. If other guys aren’t doing their job or other people aren’t doing their job, that’s on them.”</p><p>Maybe that could apply to Moore. Or perhaps Caleb Williams, who has been a bit up and down in his rookie season. Williams said he’s trying to stay positive.</p><p>“It’s been frustrating and encouraging,” Williams said. “I would say the frustrating part is obviously we’re on a — how many games now, eight? — yeah, eight-game losing streak. Like I’ve said before, it’s new to me. I haven’t experienced anything like this. That’s the frustrating part. The encouraging part is how much we fight as a team.”</p><p>Moore said there’s too much at stake for the team <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWQq5S-LM3M" rel="noopener">to be this bad</a>, according to CHGO Sports post on YouTube.</p><p>“We get paid a lot of money to do this job, and we are not getting it done,” Moore said.</p><p>But Moore didn’t throw Bears teammate Doug Kramer under the bus for failing to report and costing the team a touchdown against the Vikings.</p><p>“It’s a boneheaded mistake, but at the end of the day, you gotta do the job that you supposed to,” Moore said. “If you don’t, erase the touchdown.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Chicago is 4-9 heading into Week 15 and has lost seven games in a row. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/3-best-bears-head-coach-replacements-after-matt-eberflus-firing">Bears have fired head coach Matt Eberflus</a> and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron but still look directionless. To make matters worse, the Bears got smacked around by the 49ers on Sunday.</p><p>Bears wide receiver DJ Moore was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5980054/2024/12/08/bears-culture-new-coach-49ers/?source=emp_shared_article" rel="noopener">surprised how badly his team got embarrassed</a> in Sunday’s 38-13 loss.</p><p>“Definitely surprised. Practice looked good,” Moore said per The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain. “Our Friday was good. We all had the feeling that everything was good and we come out here and ain’t put up nothing, really.”</p><p>Just how badly were the Bears defeated? At one point during the game, San Francisco was <a href="https://x.com/ProFootballTalk/status/1865887431209177475" rel="noopener">outgaining Chicago in total yards 310-2</a>. That tells the entire story right there.</p><p>Bears players will admit that they did not execute like they should have. But it feels like the problem is even bigger than that in Chicago.</p><p>“We didn’t execute. I mean, bottom line,” safety Kevin Byard said. “Didn’t make enough plays. I didn’t play well, I didn’t think anybody played well. I don’t think anybody can say they played well enough for us to win today. Just got to be better.”</p><p>Even if the cause of their dysfunction is unknow, Bears players understand that they need to turn things around ASAP.</p><p>“I don’t know what’s not clicking, but we need to get it going,” Moore concluded.</p><h2><b>Montez Sweat gives sobering response to Bears’ seven-game losing streak</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Montez-Sweat.jpg"><figcaption>Ken Blaze-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Bears defensive end <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-montez-sweat-sobering-response-7-game-losing-streak">Montez Sweat described the situation well</a> when talking with reporters on Sunday.</p><p>“Nobody’s gonna come save us,” Sweat said. “We’re grown a** men. We just gotta go back into the week and get back to work.”</p><p>Sweat gave another genuine response when asked what he thinks Chicago can do to turn the rest of the season around.</p><p>“I don’t know, man,” Sweat continued. “If we had the answers, it’d be a different outcome. Been trying to figure that out during the week and get back at it.”</p><p>The 2024 season has turned into a year that the Bears will want to forget. Thankfully, Sweat is maintaining a positive outlook for the future.</p><p>“Definitely been a tough year,” Sweat concluded. “But, life has its ups and downs. Just gotta ride the wave. I got confident that we’ll get this thing right, eventually. Just gotta be positive.”</p><p>Chicago’s veteran players, as well as the players on long-term contracts, need to do what they can to salvage the final weeks of the 2024 season. The Bears need to rally during the final weeks of the regular season to carry some positive momentum into the offseason.</p><p>Thankfully, Chicago got a pair of injury updates ahead of their Week 14 game against San Francisco.</p><p>Bears WR DJ Moore <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1865630401890337089" rel="noopener">is expected to play</a> against the 49ers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Moore is officially listed as questionable with a quad injury. Schefter also confirmed that Bears RB D’Andre Swift will play against the 49ers as well. Swift is also listed as questionable with a quad injury.</p><p>This is great news for a Bears team that desperately needs a win, if only for morale purposes. Moore and Swift are important pieces of Chicago’s offense, so having them on the field is a big lift.</p><p>The 49ers have not been the fearsome team of recent memory, but they are still a tough out for any NFL team. It is big for the Bears to have Moore and Swift available.</p><p>Moore is having a down year after a career season in 2023. He has hauled in 62 receptions for 663 yards and five touchdowns through 12 games. However, he’s started to look like his old self during the month of November.</p><p>Swift is the lead back in Chicago and is on pace to repeat his statistics from 2023 with Philadelphia. He has 179 carries for 704 rushing yards with five touchdowns this season. Swift has also contributed 313 yards as a receiver.</p><h2><b>Keenan Allen drops optimistic take on Bears’ outlook under interim HC</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Keenan-Allen.jpg"><figcaption>Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Bears fans can be forgiven for thinking that there’s nothing left to cheer for in 2024. However, veteran WR Keenan Allen disagrees.</p><p>Allen <a href="https://x.com/BearsMarquee/status/1864801927214829736" rel="noopener">dropped an optimistic take</a> when asked if the Bears will look better under <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-thomas-brown-initial-goal-replacing-matt-eberflus">interim head coach Thomas Brown</a>.</p><p>“Definitely got to wait and see,” Allen told reporters on Thursday per Marquee Bears. “But, yeah, I do.”</p><p>Brown initially took over as Chicago’s interim offensive coordinator after the team <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-news-exact-reasons-fired-shane-waldron">fired Shane Waldron earlier this season</a>. And while questionable doesn’t mean Moore will be on the field for sure, it’s better than being designated as doubtful.</p><p>The Bears have already ruled out OL Ryan Bates (concussion), DB Elijah Hicks (ankle), and RB Roschon Johnson (concussion), so being without Moore would be a test for this offense.</p><p>Along with Moore, running back D’Andre Swift was a limited participant on Friday after spending Wednesday and Thursday off the practice field.</p><p>Considering the Bears ruled out Johnson for Week 14, Chicago’s running back room is alarmingly thin. Without Swift, the Bears would rely on Travis Homer as the team’s only back.</p><p>However, given his participation on Friday, it’s more likely that Swift will see the field against the 49ers, even if he has a limited workload.</p><h2>Bears offense, DJ Moore gets optimistic injury update in Week 14</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/DJ-Moore_ba9420.jpg"><figcaption>Daniel Bartel-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Heading into Week 14, the Bears had nine players on their injury report. Of their nine players on the injury report, seven are on offense. And considering the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-how-a-rattled-caleb-williams-is-key-factor-struggling-bears-offense">Bears’ struggles offensively</a> this year, they need everyone healthy for the remainder of the season if they want any chance of making a playoff appearance.</p><p>Sitting at 4-8 and last place in a heavy-hitting NFC North division, the Bears have an <a href="https://www.sportsbettingdime.com/nfl/strength-of-schedule/" rel="noopener">obstacle-filled second half of the season</a>, including a gauntlet of divisional games.</p><p>To end their season, the Bears face the 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers.</p><p>So, of their five remaining games, three are against NFC North opponents. And even if the Packers were in a position to sit their starters in the last week of the regular season, who knows if they’d do so against their rival Bears.</p><p>Now, a loss in Week 14 against the 49ers would likely paint the picture for the rest of the Bears’ season.
