But the team has a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/los-angeles-chargers-danger-getting-cut-minicamp">few players who might not</a> make the cut before the season starts. Also, here are two sneaky Chargers trade candidates entering the team’s 2025 training camp.</p><p>Like many NFL teams, the Chargers are solidified from top to bottom along the offensive line. They could use a player to step up. Or perhaps a trade could bolster the unit for what promises to be a successful season.</p><p>It’s not like the Chargers could get a ton in return, but the first place they might want to look is a former first-round pick.</p><h2><b>Chargers could look at dealing OL Zion Johnson</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Los-Angeles-Chargers-OL-Zion-Johnson.jpg"><figcaption>Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The 17th overall pick of the 2022 draft, the guard hasn’t lived up to his billing. He has started 49 games over three years, but his performances haven’t matched that status.</p><p>Last year, Johnson <a href="https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/zion-johnson/99681" rel="noopener">graded out at 65.7</a> overall, according to Pro Football Focus. That ranked No. 47 among 136 guards. He committed four penalties and allowed five sacks, a troublesome number that put him 117 in the league.</p><p>The Chargers are giving Johnson a look at the center position. That’s because Mekhi Becton and Bradley Bozeman have pushed Johnson from the starting ranks at guard.</p><p>The good news for the Chargers is <a href="https://www.chargers.com/news/jim-harbaugh-joe-alt-hall-of-fame-podcast" rel="noopener">they have a stud</a> at the right tackle position, according to chargers.com.</p><p>“I think he’s on track for a Hall of Fame type of career,” Harbaugh said on the Chargers Weekly podcast with Matt “Money” Smith and Chris Hayre. “I do not feel like I’m going out on a ledge by saying that.</p><p>“As good as he was last year, I’d call him right now one of our most ascending players on the team. He’s that much better. That much improved. “He is so strong now. Ascending as much as any player on our team is Joe Alt going into Year 2.”</p><p>As for Johnson, Harbaugh said he likes what he has seen from the three-year veteran. He said Johnson’s ability to move to a new spot bodes well for the team.</p><p>“The versatility that we now have,” Harbaugh said. “Maybe the combination is going to be better with Zion at center and Boze at guard, but if it’s not, we know we have a great combination with Boze at center and Zion at guard. We feel like we’re in a really good place.”</p><p>But if Johnson can’t cut it at center, the Chargers might look to move him to a guard-hungry team. Perhaps they could get a starting center in return.</p><h2><b>Chargers could trade Trey Pipkins III</b></h2><p>Another lineman in the potential trade mix is Pipkins at right tackle. There’s no playing time available at the position with Alt standing firm. So, Pipkins might be available to go elsewhere.</p><p>He graded out at 57.8 overall <a href="https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/trey-pipkins/91462" rel="noopener">as a guard</a> last season, according to Pro Football Focus. That’s No. 86 out of 136. But Pipkins has been moved to tackle.</p><p>Harbaugh said Pipkins is among those players who have looked good this summer. Pipkins is part of a good depth mix.</p><p>“The exciting thing is (there are) guys really close to that starting five that will continue to keep having at it and will have a lot of time to show maybe that they could,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t see them displacing any of those five right now.</p><p>“Andre James has been a great addition. And Trey Pipkins, who started for us at guard last year, everybody healthy, projecting (to) be the swing tackle, Trey. Tremendous value, we have a starting caliber offensive lineman who is our swing tackle is our plan right now. That would be a healthy game in, game out, we know we have a swing tackle that if something happens to our two All-Pros, we’ve got a great player in Trey Pipkins.”</p><p>That’s far enough down the depth chart for Pipkins to be in the trade conversation if the right deal came along.</p><p>The Chargers figure to be a major player in the AFC playoff picture in 2025. They need to secure a sign of strength for all positions on their team if they are going to find a way to get past Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The right kind of trade, even a small one, could be a turning point that catapults the Chargers in front of the dominant Chiefs. Of course, depth has to be treated tenderly as well. Injuries often wreck NFL plans. So the Chargers must move forward cautiously.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Many scouts are believing the change in scenery will boost his draft stock.</p><p>Harvey starred in the Los Angeles region before. The Palmdale native starred for prep powerhouse Sierra Canyon before choosing Virginia Tech. He’s a big, physical CB with outstanding ball skills.</p><p>The Bolts watched Tarheeb Still and Elijah Molden step up at CB. But this 2025 group looks far from complete.</p><p>In fact the Chargers can still entertain bringing in one more piece. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/1-perfect-los-angeles-chargers-move-fill-out-roster-2025-training-camp">All-pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey rose as one major idea</a>. But we’re focusing on offense here.</p><p>That’s where a former first round selection from the previous Brandon Staley/Tom Telesco era can use new scenery. And help make room for one prized Pro Bowler still on the market ahead of the NFL trade deadline.</p><h2><b>Chargers can look into dealing away disappointing WR</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Quentin-Johnston-vs.-Texans.jpg"><figcaption>Troy Taormina-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Quentin Johnston has his days numbered already. Even as a former first round pick.</p><p>Ladd McConkey rose up as the leading wide receiver. All while becoming a prized second round selection in 2024. Los Angeles clearly envisions similar second round magic with the 55th pick Tre Harris. Like McConkey, the wide receiver Harris starred in the Southeastern Conference before winning over the Chargers’ brass.</p><p>But that means Johnston continues to look like the odd man out in this offense. Harris brings the traits that can make him a strong WR2 option next to last season’s breakout rookie.</p><p>Johnston once earned the vote of confidence from Harbaugh before he coached his first Chargers game. All after a dismal rookie campaign that saw him catch 38 passes for 431 yards and just two touchdowns.</p><p>The former TCU Horned Frog did improve his numbers: 55 catches, 711 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. But he’s dealt with drops. Notably the three he botched in a crucial November contest against the Baltimore Ravens.</p><p>Johnston looks like he’s sticking around due to the lack of WR depth here. Yet the Bolts can take a swing at a past All-Pro rumored to be on the move.</p><h2><b>Quentin Johnston can become part of this huge deal </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Kyle-Pitts.jpg"><figcaption>© Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>No knock on Will Dissly who became solid under Harbaugh. But the Bolts still need tight end to address. They need someone similar to franchise legend Antonio Gates to ignite this offense further.</p><p>That’s where Kyle Pitts enters the picture. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-atlanta-open-trading-kyle-pitts">Pitts first emerged as a trade possibility back on June 2</a>. The Atlanta Falcons became “open” to the idea of dealing away Pitts per multiple reports. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/5-best-trade-destinations-for-falcons-kyle-pitts">Pitts is already considered intriguing as a Chargers possibility</a>.</p><p>Johnston wouldn’t be the only name involved in a potential swap. The Falcons likely want draft capital too. L.A. can throw in its 2026 third rounder, Johnston, maybe even Dissly in exchange for the 2021 Pro Bowler Pitts.</p><p>Atlanta gains TE depth and a towering WR paired with Drake London in this scenario. Michael Penix Jr. gets a red zone option who can take pressure off London here as well. The Chargers free up key cap room by shipping away Dissly and Johnston together. The former <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/25221/will-dissly" rel="noopener">has a $4.3 million base salary</a> and an opt out for 2026 per Spotrac.</p><p>The Chargers, though, can get away with keeping Dissly for his blocking prowess while Pitts handles the downfield receiving duties. General manager John Hortiz can maybe throw in a future 2027 day two pick and Johnston to nab Pitts.</p><p>Regardless, Johnston’s obviously on the hot seat this season. The arrival of Harris cranks the temperature up higher. However, heading into training camp, the Chargers need to make one final splash and trade for disgruntled star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.</p><p>The Chargers did not have too much cap space to use in free agency and failed to make any significant signings. They added several key veteran pieces — Najee Harris, Tyler Conklin, Mike Williams and Benjamin St. Juste, among others — but did not make any headline-worthy moves. Instead, Los Angeles directed most of its attention to the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>Los Angeles added nine players in the draft, among the most of any team in the league. Jim Harbaugh admitted that he <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chargers-news-jim-harbaugh-draft-built-getting-justin-herbert-to-hof">focused the draft around Justin Herbert</a>, whom he has taken a strong liking to. As such, five of the nine players the Chargers drafted were offensive players. The draft class notably included running back Omarion Hampton, who will take over for the departing JK Dobbins, and dynamic wideout Tre Harris.</p><p>Overall, the Chargers’ 2025 offseason has predominantly been a success. However, cornerback remains the lone position they have failed to address. Despite signing St. Juste, Los Angeles seems unlikely to retain top cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who is still a free agent. Considering Los Angeles’ secondary ranked top 10 in yards per pass and passing yards allowed, the team should feel a sense of urgency to keep its elite defense intact.</p><p>Trading for Ramsey would not solve every issue, but it would be a meaningful step. Adding an elite defender and playmaker to an already dominant defensive unit would perfectly round out the Chargers’ 2025 offseason heading into training camp.</p><h2><b>Chargers need to trade for CB Jalen Ramsey before training camp</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Miami-Dolphins-cornerback-Jalen-Ramsey.jpg"><figcaption>Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Tyreek Hill has been the focus of the Miami Dolphins’ dramatic 2025 offseason, but Jalen Ramsey has also been on the trade block for months. Miami general manager Chris Grier confirmed that the two sides mutually agreed to seek a trade, but have yet to find a suitable partner. The Dolphins clearly have no urgency to make a deal, but seem to be finally close to closing the door.</p><p>Coming out of minicamp, a Ramsey deal is <a href="https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/45552015" rel="noopener">now likely to get done</a> before training camps begin in late July, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. More importantly, Schefter reported that Ramsey wants to join a West Coast team. His specific list included the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Chargers. Even if true, the Dolphins are not obligated to give in to Ramsey’s request, but it gives the selected clubs a significant advantage.</p><p>Of the aforementioned West Coast teams, the Chargers should have the most urgency to execute a trade. Without Samuel, they are currently down to starting either Cam Hart, Nikko Reed, Ja’Sir Taylor or St. Juste opposite of veteran Donte Jackson. Hart, who started six games in 2024, likely has the upper hand, but is a significant downgrade from either Ramsey or Samuel.</p><p>Much of the Chargers’ success against the pass in 2024 depended on their pass rush, which they maintained in the offseason. General manager Joe Hortiz <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-los-angeles-dashes-bears-khalil-mack-reunion-dreams-18-million-contract">prioritized re-signing Khalil Mack</a>, while adding Da’Shawn Hand, Jamaree Caldwell and Naquan Jones to the group. The revamped unit is even better on paper than it was in 2024, ostensibly increasing the urgency to keep the same approach with the team’s secondary.</p><p>Ramsey, who played for the Rams from 2019 to 2022, is already familiar with the Los Angeles area. His geography-based preference list makes it clear that he prioritizes his quality of life off the field at this point in his career. Yet, playing for high-energy coaches like Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter fits Ramsey to a tee. This is a prime opportunity for the Chargers to land a big-name player in the trade market that they need to capitalize on.</p><h2><b>Jalen Ramsey would make Chargers’ defense elite</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Saints.jpg"><figcaption>Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>With his 31st birthday coming up in October, many are worried that Ramsey’s best days are behind him. However, his numbers suggest he is still an elite cornerback capable of elevating any defense. Ramsey received a <a href="https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jalen-ramsey/10639" rel="noopener">76.9 player grade</a> from Pro Football Focus in 2024, the 16th-best of the site’s 222 graded cornerbacks.</p><p>Ramsey’s strong 2024 campaign kept nothing in the dark. He played all 17 games on the year, taking the field for 96.52 percent of Miami’s defensive snaps, the most of any cornerback in the league. Ramsey also posted an elite <a href="https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/jalen-ramsey/" rel="noopener">46.1 shadow rate</a>, covering the top opposing pass-catchers at the 18th-highest clip.</p><p>Even with his high usage, Ramsey only allowed 6.3 yards per target on 1.6 yards of separation per target. His blanketing coverage led to 11 pass breakups and two interceptions.</p><p>Adding a player of Ramsey’s caliber to the Chargers’ defense unquestionably softens the blow of losing Samuel. A secondary comprised of Ramsey, Jackson, Derwin James and Alohi Gilman rivals any other unit in the league. Having experienced players in St. Juste, Elijah Molden and Taylor would arguably make them the best defensive back corps in the league.</p><p>For Ramsey, landing with the Chargers might be his best-case scenario. He is familiar with the Rams and would thrive with the 49ers, but joining Harbaugh’s club figures to suit him best. As his speed and durability decline with age, Ramsey can maintain an elite level while playing with safeties like James and Gilman. Not even San Francisco, which lost star safety Talanoa Hufanga in free agency, can provide him with that level of back-end support.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

With Jim Harbaugh at the helm, the Chargers are trying to become a bully in the AFC. The biggest task of all is trying to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs from atop the AFC West, and if Harbaugh’s Chargers can do that, then they can make a serious run to the Super Bowl. The Chargers maintain a roster worthy of competing in a dangerous conference. The Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens (who just <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/ravens-news-baltimore-signs-jaire-alexander-right-after-lamar-jacksons-demand">signed cornerback Jaire Alexander</a>), Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos will all be playoff contenders again this season.</p><p>Mini camp is in action, and there are a lot of surprises coming out of Costa Mesa, California. The Chargers feel that they had another strong NFL Draft in the Harbaugh era, selecting running back Omarion Hampton out of North Carolina in the first round. General manager Joe Hortiz drafted a few more players who have the potential to be serious steals this season.</p><p>During free agency, the team made splashes by signing running back Najee Harris from the Pittsburgh Steelers, right guard Mekhi Becton from the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Donte Jackson from the Carolina Panthers, and bringing back receiver Mike Williams. The Bolts feel they have elite talent on both sides of the ball. The tight end position was deep in this draft, and the Bolts feel they have a talent worthy of mentioning along with Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland.</p><h2><b>Hot Take No. 2: Chargers Will Finish Season With Top 3 Rushing Unit</b></h2><p>When <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-jim-harbaugh-remembers-hilarious-mekhi-becton-basketball-moment">Becton signed with the Chargers</a>, the offensive line gained a much-needed guard with experience. Becton slides right into the right guard spot next to Joe Alt, who the Chargers took with the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bolts have a two-time Pro Bowler at left tackle in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-rashawn-slater-gives-encouraging-update-on-contract-negotiations">Rashawn Slater</a>, and an above-average run-blocker in Zion Johnson at either left guard or center. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov1U3owzr9g" rel="noopener">Reports have shown that he has taken reps at center</a>, but has been a guard to begin his career in LA. Andre James or Bradley Bozeman can start at center or left guard, depending on what the team decides.</p><p>The running back room will look very different this season. Out goes J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, and in comes Harris and Hampton. Harris has been a 1,000-yard rusher since he was a rookie, and Hampton was projected as the second-best running back in this past draft, behind Ashton Jeanty. Both RBs are in the AFC West, looking to hit the ground running.</p><p>The Bolts want to be a run-dominant team. Harbaugh has said it many times. They tried last season, but injuries kept them from doing that. If Harris and Hampton are both healthy for the entire season, the Chargers will have a Top 3 rushing team in the NFL. Behind the massive offensive line and Greg Roman’s play calling, Harris and Hampton will see a ton of success this season. It’s realistic for them to both rush for over 1,000 yards. Reminder, Zion Johnson is a much better run blocker than he is a pass blocker.</p><h2><b>Hot Take No. 1: LA Will Finish With No. 1 Scoring Defense Again</b></h2><p>Last season, the Chargers <a href="https://www.chargers.com/news/jesse-minter-defense-stats-2024#:~:text=Overall%2C%20the%20Chargers%20finished%20first,around%20unit%20all%20season%20long.">allowed the fewest points in the NFL</a>. At 17.7 opposing points per game, teams struggled to find the end zone against the gritty Chargers defense. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/bills-news-joey-bosa-breaks-silence-on-signing-1-year-contract-with-bills">Joey Bosa is gone</a>, but the team feels they have the replacements necessary to oppose Khalil Mack and have a dominant rush attack.</p><p>The secondary is what could be lethal. Donte Jackson comes in and adds to a cornerback room that had two of the top rookies of the entire 2024-25 season, Tarheeb Still and Cam Hart. If those two stay on pace, then they will lock down receivers and intercept a handful of passes. Derwin James, Elijah Molden, and Alohi Gilman form a terrific safety trio. James is a two-time First Team All-Pro and two-time Second Team All-Pro. He was Second Team last season. James has the ability to change games by playing all over the field, intercepting passes, sacking the quarterback, and making tackles at every level.</p><p>Playing in the AFC West will not be easy, but defensive coordinator Jesse Minter had a great game plan last season that will carry over to this year. The Bolts play some elite offenses this year, but avoid the likes of the Bills, Ravens, Bengals, Lions, Packers, Rams, and Buccaneers.</p><p>The Chargers should make the playoffs this season. They are hoping to bounce back after a miserable playoff loss to the Houston Texans last year.</p><p>The Bolts revamped their offense by adding fresh talent to the roster. LA signed running back <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-rb-najee-harris-puts-steelers-on-blast">Najee Harris from the Pittsburgh Steelers</a>, and also drafted running back Omarion Hampton out of North Carolina in the first round. Both Harris and Hampton are expected to immediately improve the Chargers’ running game. Another factor that can help improve the run game is that the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-sign-super-bowl-champion-justin-herbert-protector">Chargers signed offensive lineman Mekhi Becton</a>, who recently won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.</p><p>Jim Harbaugh is in love with the sport of football, and the Becton signing has to be one of his favorites. He is building a massive offensive line that includes Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, and Zion Johnson. The potential is through the roof with that group.</p><p>Harbaugh recently joined The Herd and talked about Becton and the offense. Harbaugh <a href="https://x.com/chargers/status/1935103583315444091" rel="noopener">had a funny moment that he remembered</a> about Becton that relates to basketball.</p><p>“I remember being at a game where I saw him slam dunk a basketball,” Harbaugh said. “He got elbowed; he might have broken his nose. Unfortunately, not everyone makes it. There will be heavy competition for every spot on the roster throughout Chargers minicamp. These players are on the bubble and might not be on the Chargers roster in a few months.</p><h2><b>Trey Pipkins III needs to shine in minicamp</b></h2><p>Minicamp is often a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/2-chargers-veterans-whose-roles-pushed-rookies-2025">battle between veterans and rookies</a>, and the 2025 Chargers minicamp is no exception. Notably, the Chargers drafted Trey Pipkins as an offensive tackle in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, they moved him to offensive guard in 2024, and that may be the preferred position for him. But Pipkins is not a lock to make the Chargers roster.</p><p>Pipkins has played in 84 games in his career and started 56 of them. He started all 17 last season and looked like he was well on his way to reviving his career. But the performance was not what the brass wanted, and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-sign-super-bowl-champion-justin-herbert-protector">Chargers signed Mekhi Becton to a contract</a>, likely to start in place of Pipkins.</p><p>Pipkins was not efficient in 2024, with an <a href="https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/trey-pipkins/91462" rel="noopener">overall grade of 57.8</a> according to Pro Football Focus. Therefore, he must do significantly better than that to show he deserves a spot on the Chargers roster.</p><p>There is a small chance he gets cut, especially if Jamaree Salyer shows something more. Ultimately, there will be a battle in the Chargers’ minicamp, and Pipkins must show he can earn a spot.</p><h2><b>Eric Rogers hopes to win a spot on the Chargers roster</b></h2><p>The Chargers’ roster is solid at secondary, and they have multiple players competing for a spot at minicamp. Therefore, it leaves someone on the outside looking in. Eric Rogers is at the bottom of the depth chart and must show the coaching staff that he deserves a spot on the team.</p><p>The Chargers signed Rogers as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers in 2025. Although the Chargers took a chance on him this season, there is a chance he might not make the team. At this point, the best-case scenario could be with the practice squad. If that is the case, Los Angeles might waive him only to re-sign him to a contract that specifies that.</p><p>With the Chargers having a secondary that has a lot of players ahead of him in the depth chart, the journey is long and arduous for Rogers. As a result, he has to shake off the rust and find a way to win over the coaching staff during minicamp. If he cannot, he will find himself on the outside as an NFL free agent.</p><h2>Brenden Rice is not comparable to his NFL legend father</h2><p>It is not easy being the son of one of the greatest players of all time. Furthermore, it’s not easy being his son when you don’t have nearly as many accomplishments as he does. That is where Brenden Rice is, as he attempts to shake off the pressure of being Jerry Rice’s son and perform to a level that is anything close to what his father did. But sometimes, the apple falls farther from the tree.</p><p>The Chargers drafted Rice in the seventh round in 2024. Then, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-jerry-rice-son-makes-roster-after-strong-camp">he had an intense training camp in 2024</a> to make the team. Rice only appeared in three games and did not record a catch. Now, he faces immense pressure to perform well in minicamp. It also hurts that the Chargers have multiple receivers in front of him, and he will need to show why he deserves a spot.</p><p>To make the roster, Rice must have a great camp. Then, he must perform well in the preseason. The likeliest outcome is a spot on the practice squad. That is not the case for Slater, who knows the Bolts have a lot to work on heading into this season.</p><p>On Thursday, Slater <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1SGSD7tGRc" rel="noopener">spoke to the media</a> about the contract situation.</p><p>“I don’t want to miss any time. I love being here. It’s important. This is what we do, I love these guys.”</p><p>Slater is the starting left tackle for an offensive line that has the chance to be lethal. Slater, Zion Johnson, Bradley Bozeman, Mechi Beckton, and Joe Alt form one of the biggest groups in the NFL. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-jim-harbaugh-draft-built-getting-justin-herbert-to-hof">Quarterback Justin Herbert</a> must be excited to have an opportunity to play in front of an elite group.</p><p>Since Slater has been in the league, he has been one of the more consistent tackles in the game. He missed most of the 2022 season with a torn pectoral injury but returned and did not miss a beat. Rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden II out of Syracuse could be a sneaky weapon for Justin Herbert and the offense this season and for many years to come. The Chargers selected Gadsden in the 5th round of the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>His 2022 and 2024 seasons at Syracuse were top-tier. In 2022, he caught 61 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Last season, the tight end caught 73 passes for 934 yards and seven touchdowns as Kyle McCord’s top pass catcher.</p><p>Now at Chargers minicamp, Gadsden II is quickly making a name for himself. He has had a <a href="https://x.com/Eric_L_Smith/status/1932940248201470433" rel="noopener">huge week and is impressing head coach</a> Jim Harbaugh.</p><p>Harbaugh spoke to the media about Gadsden and said that Gadsden <a href="https://x.com/Eric_L_Smith/status/1933225235341586942" rel="noopener">“is everything they thought”</a> he would be.</p><p>When Justin Herbert talked about Gadsden, he had nothing but great things to say.</p><p>“He’s picked up the offense really well and has been getting a bunch of reps with us,” Herbert said on Wednesday. “Anytime I can get out there and get him the ball to see what he can do, he’s made some big-time plays.”</p><p>According to Eric Smith’s article on Gadsden, the rookie tight end was showcasing a bulk of his talents during 7-on-7 and team drills. Having the trust from Herbert is huge, and the more he and Herbert build chemistry, the better his chances are of becoming a star.</p><p>The Bolts’ offense will look different than last year. They <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chargers-news-mike-williams-terrible-admission-returning-la">brought back receiver Mike Williams</a>, who was the first ever Chargers draft pick in Los Angeles.
