They are 6-2 and have looked impressive in most of their games. The Tigers’ worst news this year was that their starting quarterback, Beau Pribula, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/missouri-football-news-beau-pribula-injury-not-season-ending" rel="noopener">got hurt in their last game against Vanderbilt</a>. The Tigers are going with freshman Matthew Zollers at the starting quarterback position after Sam Horn was injured and out for the season.</p><p>Matthew Zollers is entering Missouri history<a href="https://x.com/PeteNakos/status/1985839910809370666" rel="noopener"> by starting on Saturday against Texas A&amp;M</a>. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Zollers is the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the Missouri Tigers since Drew Lock did in 2015. In 2015, Lock started in the final eight games for Missouri that season.</p><p>For Drinkwitz and his team, making Zollers as comfortable as possible in this offense is a top priority. That means focusing on his strengths and using them to Missouri’s advantage as a play-caller.</p><p>“It’s about playing to what his strengths are,” Drinkwitz said. “Are there things that we’re going to add? Probably not, but are there things that he’s more comfortable with than maybe Beau was, absolutely. So we can push those things in the playbook that maybe haven’t been shown.”</p><p>Getting Zollers ready in practice has been Missouri’s biggest goal over the last two weeks during their bye this week, leading up to Texas A&amp;M. He has shown he can step into that role as a starter, despite all the pressure that comes with that.</p><p>“It’s really about us focusing on helping Matt execute at the highest level possible,” Drinkwitz said. “We’re excited about Matt’s opportunity and what he’s earned. The move comes amid major struggles from backup quarterback Jake Browning, who has taken over for the injured Joe Burrow to the tune of three straight losses.</p><p>On Wednesday, more details emerged about <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46518794/nfl-week-6-buzz-news-updates-fantasy-intel-questions-predictions" rel="noopener">some of the other options</a> that Cincinnati considered before centering on Flacco.</p><p>“I’m told that neither of the Giants veterans — Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston — were ever real possibilities, nor was Atlanta’s Kirk Cousins. There was some chatter about Drew Lock in Seattle, Sam Howell in Philadelphia — guys like that. But teams aren’t eager to trade from their QB depth,” reported Dan Graziano of ESPN.</p><p>Graziano also noted that “When Joe Burrow got hurt, the Bengals truly did believe that <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3886812/jake-browning" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jake Browning</a> would be a capable fill-in and play better than he has over the past four games. They weren’t intending to trade for a quarterback. Funnily enough, they were able to do just that, knocking off the Browns and the Jacksonville Jaguars to open up their season.</p><p>However, Burrow was injured in that Cincinnati game and will miss a minimum of three months with a toe injury, which opened the door for Browning to take over, an experiment that has backfired in spectacular fashion so far.</p><p>There is a small amount of hope that if Flacco is able to keep the Bengals above water for the next several weeks, Burrow could perhaps come back at some point and make Cincinnati a dangerous opponent in the playoffs for anyone, but such a scenario feels more like a pipe dream than anything at the current juncture.</p><p>The Bengals will next take the field on Sunday on the road against the Green Bay Packers.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Whether it was Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito or Tim Boyle under center, the Giants continued to lose and came into Sunday with the worst record in the NFL. On Sunday, Lock and Malik Nabers were ready to do everything they could to get the Giants back in the win column.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-drew-lock-blows-new-yorks-tank-5-td-game-out-of-nowhere">Lock and Nabers both had the best game of their careers</a> in this one to give the Giants a 45-33 win over the Indianapolis Colts to improve to 3-13 on the season. Lock finished this game with an incredible statline: 17-for-23 with 309 yards and four touchdowns. Lock also scrambled for a 5-yard touchdown with just under three minutes left to give the Giants a two-score lead and salt the game away.</p><p>Lock finished this game with an EPA per play of +1.18, which is an absolutely absurd number. By that metric, Lock played the best game of the season by any quarterback in the NFL, not just for the Giants and the <a href="https://x.com/Doug_Analytics/status/1873480442009292901" rel="noopener">sixth best game</a> since 1999, according to Doug Analytics on X, formerly Twitter. For reference, Josh Allen’s EPA per play this season is 0.321, and he is the favorite to win the MVP. Allen and Lamar Jackson are the only players with a season-long mark above 0.3.</p><p>Now, you may be wondering who the five quarterbacks ahead of Lock were, even though none were Giants. Well, the list is pretty impressive:</p><p>Peyton Manning (2007)</p><p>Phillip Rivers (2007)</p><p>Lamar Jackson (2019)</p><p>Peyton manning (2002)</p><p>Tom Brady (2007)</p><p>That’s quite the company for Lock to be in, especially in a game that didn’t mean all that much for the Giants. In fact, some Giants fans may have been hoping for a loss, as Sunday’s win knocks them out of the top spot in the NFL Draft for now. As it stands, The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-brian-daboll-strong-statement-ends-10-game-losing-streak">Giants are down to the third overall pick</a> with one week to play, and will fall to fourth if the Cleveland Browns lose on Sunday afternoon.</p><p>Lock found Nabers all over the field on Sunday, as the star Giants receiver had a career day. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-malik-nabers-tyrone-tracy-pull-off-feat-done-only-2-times-nfl-history">Nabers caught six passes in this one</a> for 168 yards and two touchdowns, finally getting a chance to showcase his explosiveness and ability to turn any short pass into a long touchdown after the catch.</p><p>Lock has had a difficult year for the Giants, as has everyone else in New York, but Sunday was an all-time masterpiece that will live forever as one of the top games by a quarterback in recent history.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although he can talk shop about the Raptors and Ravens all day, what's really always on his mind is having finished his undergrad without having won a single fantasy or intramural league.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">New York Giants</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>In one of the most unexpected performances of the season, New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock delivered a career-best game against the Indianapolis Colts, throwing four touchdown passes and <a href="https://x.com/Connor_J_Hughes" rel="noopener">running in a fifth to lead</a> the Giants to a 42-33 victory (per SNYtv’s Connor Hughes). Lock, who has spent much of his NFL career battling inconsistency, looked like a different player on Sunday, finishing 17-of-23 for 309 yards and four scores through the air, capped off by a five-yard rushing touchdown on third-and-goal.</p><p>The win marked the first time the Giants scored 40 points in a game since Week 16 of the 2019 season, during Daniel Jones’ rookie year. Despite the offensive explosion, the victory comes with bittersweet implications for a team in rebuild mode.</p><p>Entering Week 17 with a league-worst 2-13 record, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/colts-vs-giants-predictions-pick-odds-spread-for-nfl-week-17-2024" rel="noopener">the underdog Giants</a> appeared to have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft all but locked up. A win, however, has thrown that into jeopardy. With their third victory, New York is now tied with multiple teams at the bottom of the standings. While the exact draft order is not entirely clear at the time of this article’s writing, the Giants are no longer guaranteed the top pick. This could cost them a shot at drafting a generational prospect, particularly if Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is in their sights. And unless the front office chooses to be disillusioned by this slight Drew Lock resurgence, that is in all likelihood what their sights on set on (although this is the New York Giants who drafted Jones with the #6 pick in the 2019 draft and let Saquon Barkely walk last offseason, so who really knows).</p><p>Adding to the chaos, the Colts’ playoff hopes evaporated with the loss. A victory would have given Indianapolis a 22% chance of sneaking into the postseason, but they have now been mathematically eliminated from contention.</p><p>Lock’s breakout performance is a reminder of the tantalizing potential he’s flashed throughout his NFL career. Drafted in the second round by the Denver Broncos in 2019, Lock showed promise early, winning four of his first five starts. However, inconsistency, injuries, and turnover issues derailed his tenure in Denver. He was traded to Seattle as part of the blockbuster deal for Russell Wilson in 2022 but saw little playing time behind Geno Smith.</p><p>Signed by the Giants this offseason as a backup and bridge option, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-new-york-makes-another-qb-change-latest-drew-lock-move" rel="noopener">Lock hadn’t done much</a> to inspire confidence—until Sunday. His performance was nothing short of electric, showcasing poise in the pocket, accuracy on deep throws, and surprising mobility. His connection with wide receivers Jalin Hyatt and Darius Slayton was particularly noteworthy, as both players scored touchdowns and topped 80 yards receiving.</p><p>The Giants’ 42-point outing was a breath of fresh air for a franchise that has struggled offensively for years. Before Sunday, New York hadn’t scored 40 points since a 41-35 overtime win against Washington in December 2019, during Daniel Jones’ first season. That game, like this one, came late in a lost season but offered a glimpse of what could be. He missed Week 15 with an arm injury but returned the following game and is set to close out the disastrous 2024 season. Tommy DeVito will likely serve as his backup with Tim Boyle as the emergency third-string.</p><p>In his three starts of 2024, Lock has gone 0-3, contributing to the team’s franchise-worst 10-game losing streak. With the Giants on track to obtain the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, their offseason cannot come quickly enough.</p><p>Lock is coming off his worst game of the season in Week 16. He led the Giants’ offense to score just seven points — tying a season low — while committing three turnovers, two of which were returned for touchdowns.</p><p>After facing the Colts in Week 17, the Giants will end 2024 on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles. Both the Colts and Eagles have playoff implications in their upcoming matchups, heavily implying the result of the games before they even kick off.</p><p>If the Giants end up with the top overall pick in April 2025, it will mark their first time making the first selection since 1965. However, while they did not have the top pick in 2004, they were able to acquire Eli Manning, whom the San Diego Chargers took first overall, from that draft class in exchange for Philip Rivers.</p><p>Once the draft rolls around, many expect the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/4-way-too-early-targets-giants-2025-nfl-draft">Giants to select either Shedeur Sanders</a> from Colorado or Cam Ward from Miami. After the Last Vegas Raiders knocked off the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, the Giants now sit alone as the team with the worst record in the NFL at 2-13 and are in the diver’s seat to earn the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>If they hadn’t already, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-new-new-york-makes-brutal-franchise-history-hapless-loss-falcons">Giants certainly hit rock bottom</a> on Sunday when they were blown out by the Atlanta Falcons in a 34-7 rout. The Giants’ defense couldn’t get a stop even against an offense that was playing quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in his first career start, and the offense consistently failed to move the ball against a Falcons defense that has not performed very well for most of the season.</p><p>Now, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-new-york-2025-nfl-draft-destiny-wild-turn-raiders-win">Giants fans have their sights set on the NFL Draft</a>, but they need their team to drop two more games to get there with the top pick. The team took another hit on Sunday when quarterback Drew Lock suffered a shoulder injury that is <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1871250498181070935" rel="noopener">currently being evaluated</a>, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.</p><p>“Giants QB Drew Lock is undergoing an MRI on his shoulder, leaving the team’s quarterback situation uncertain heading into Week 17,” Meirov reported on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>If Lock is unable to go, Timmy DeVito would likely get another start after he cleared concussion protocol shortly before the Falcons game, and Tim Boyle would be the backup. None of the three are appealing options, which may be a good thing for Giants fans at this point.</p><p>Lock struggled on Sunday, finishing the game 22-for-39 with 210 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Both of Lock’s picks were returned for touchdowns, meaning that the Falcons scored more points on defense than the Giants did on offense on Sunday. The first pick-six, returned by star safety Jessie Bates III, was a poor read and throw by Lock, and the second one was a tipped ball that can’t be pinned entirely on the quarterback.</p><p>The Giants will finish the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17 and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 18, which should both be tough matchups for them regardless of who is at quarterback.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After missing the previous week with a heel injury, Lock will be under center for a spiraling Giants team. Fortunately, Lock will <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1870685199261970738" rel="noopener">have some help</a> on Sunday.</p><p>Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is expected to play against the Falcons, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter on X. Tracy was limited in practice this week after sustaining an ankle injury against the Baltimore Ravens. Although he’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, the Giants expect him to suit up.</p><p>Tracy has been one of the sole bright spots in an otherwise miserable season for New York. The fifth round draft pick has acquitted himself well in his first year as a pro. In 14 games, Tracy has rushed for 695 yards and five touchdowns with 30 receptions for another 220 yards.</p><p>While the Giants seem to have their running back of the future, the team has a massive hole at quarterback. After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-release-daniel-jones-after-turning-to-tommy-devito">releasing longtime starter Daniel Jones</a>, New York turned to Tommy DeVito. But the second-year passer has only been able to make two starts due to injuries.</p><h2><b>RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s solid rookie campaign was wasted on the Giants</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Tyrone-Tracy.jpg"><figcaption>Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-tommy-devito-in-line-to-start-vs-ravens-after-latest-drew-lock-injury-update">DeVito drew the start</a> last week against the Ravens but he was forced from the game with a concussion. This led to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-tommy-devitos-injury-reminds-us-tim-boyle-somehow-still-in-nfl">Tim Boyle playing an entire half</a> for the Giants. Now, Lock, who was unable to play in Week 15, will get the start against Atlanta and DeVito will back him up.</p><p>Three New York quarterbacks have combined to throw 150 pass attempts since Jones was benched following a Week 10 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Germany. They’ve totaled one touchdown and three interceptions. And Boyle has the only non-Daniel Jones touchdown pass for the team in 2024.</p><p>The Giants were actually 2-3 after Week 5 this season. Since then, however, the offense has collapsed into itself and disappeared. New York has lost nine straight games to fall to an NFL-worst 2-12 record. During that streak, the team has averaged just 13 points per game.</p><p>While <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-brian-daboll-reacts-to-fans-plane-banner-asking-to-fire-everybody">fans hope the Giants replace the entire coaching staff</a>, the team will certainly look for a new starting quarterback during the offseason. The Giants just got an injury update on Tommy DeVito ahead of Week 16.</p><p>Giants head coach Brian Daboll said on Friday that Tommy DeVito <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1870152959125754055" rel="noopener">has cleared concussion protocol</a>, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport. DeVito will be the backup for Drew Lock on Sunday.</p><p>On balance, this is good news for the Giants. Getting DeVito back will eliminate the need for <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-tommy-devitos-injury-reminds-us-tim-boyle-somehow-still-in-nfl">New York to turn to the likes of Tim Boyle in an emergency</a>.</p><p>That said, this news will make little difference during the final three weeks of a doomed Giants season.</p><p>Giants fans have even resorted to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-brian-daboll-reacts-to-fans-plane-banner-asking-to-fire-everybody">hiring planes to fly banners above the stadium</a> to plead John Mara to fix the team. New York has not had turmoil like this in a long time.</p><p>The quarterback position will undoubtedly be a huge priority for New York this offseason.</p><h2><b>Deion Sanders drops Giants-Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft take</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Sanders-vs-Oklahoma-State.jpg"><figcaption>Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Now the question becomes: who will the Giants pursue as their next franchise quarterback?</p><p>New York is most likely going to use their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to select a quarterback. They currently hold the second overall pick, but that could change over the next three weeks. If New York maintains a top pick, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward should be top options.</p><p>Shedeur’s father, NFL legend Deion Sanders, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-deion-sanders-drops-shedeur-sanders-nfl-draft-take">seems to bless the pairing of Shedur and the Giants</a>.</p><p>Sanders was asked who the Giants would pick if they had the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. To make matters worse, the Giants have burned through multiple starting quarterbacks this season. They’ll be going back to a familiar face for Week 16.</p><p>The Giants announced on Wednesday that Drew Lock <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1869435841678049347" rel="noopener">will start at quarterback on Sunday</a>, per Ari Meirov. Lock will face off against Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons</p><p>New York has played four different quarterbacks this season. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-owner-honest-reaction-daniel-jones-release-request">Giants finally parted ways with Daniel Jones</a>, releasing him back in November. Backups Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock have also been given a shot, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-tommy-devitos-injury-reminds-us-tim-boyle-somehow-still-in-nfl">along with veteran Tim Boyle</a>.</p><p>It appears that the Giants view lock as a better option than Boyle. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-brian-daboll-undecided-qb1-tim-boyle-fill-in">Brian Daboll said as much in his Monday presser</a>.</p><p>“[Our starting quarterback] depends on how [Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock] are health-wise,” Daboll said via SNY TV. “I thought [Tim Boyle] made some nice throws. He was decisive with the football. He was ready to go and he was prepared.”</p><h2><b>Who will be the starting quarterback for the Giants in 2025?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Tommy-DeVito.jpg"><figcaption>Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Now that Daniel Jones is gone, the question remains: who will be the next starting quarterback for the Giants.</p><p>The obvious answer is a rookie quarterback. New York currently holds the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and could even move up to No. 1 over the next three weeks. That puts them in range of some of the top QB prospects in the class, including Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.</p><p>In fact, one recent <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-news-giants-raiders-qbs-espns-2025-mock-draft">ESPN mock draft had the Giants selecting Cam Ward</a> with the second overall pick.</p><p>However, the draft is not the only path the Giants could take. They might also consider signing someone in free agency or trading for a veteran quarterback. They may even pursue <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/falcons-news-benches-kirk-cousins-favor-of-michael-penix-jr">Kirk Cousins, who the Falcons could part ways with after turning to Michael Penix Jr</a>.</p><p>It will be interesting to see how the Giants approach the upcoming offseason. However, while he returns under center after recovering from a forearm injury, Drew Lock, who started the previous two games, is trending toward being available as his backup.</p><p>During the team’s final full practice of Week 15, Lock was spotted moving around <a href="https://x.com/JordanRaanan/status/1867611657494835404" rel="noopener">without the walking boot</a> he previously wore, per Jordan Ranaan. The six-year veteran is currently dealing with a heel injury that he suffered during the team’s Week 14 loss to the New Orleans Saints. While he is currently listed as questionable, Ranaan speculated that he might be available to serve as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback.</p><p>Since the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-release-daniel-jones-after-turning-to-tommy-devito">Giants released Daniel Jones</a>, they have gone 0-3 in three combined starts from DeVito and Lock. DeVito started the team’s first game sans Jones in Week 12, a brutal 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lock found slightly more success in the ensuing two weeks but still suffered two more losses to extend the team’s losing streak to eight.</p><p>In the three weeks since Jones’ release, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-ny-signs-qb-daniel-jones-benching">Giants signed Tim Boyle to their practice squad</a>, who has been serving as the backup. DeVito, who was questionable in Weeks 13 and 14, was the emergency third-string quarterback while he dealt with his forearm injury.</p><h2><b>Drew Lock joins long list of Giants’ injuries</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Tommy-DeVito.jpg"><figcaption>Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>If Lock is unable to play and is officially ruled out, he would not be the first Giant to do so. As perhaps the most injured team in the NFL, New York has 30 members of their team either on the Week 15 injury report or on injured reserve.</p><p>On offense, the Giants ruled out guard Jon Runyan, with starters Lock, Malik Nabers, Jermaine Eleumanor and John Michael Schmitz all questionable to face the Baltimore Ravens. Runyan joins Andrew Thomas and Theo Johnson, both of whom were already out on injured reserve.</p><p>Defensively, the Giants also ruled out Bobby Okereke, Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Dru Phillips for the matchup. Jordan Riley, Cor’Dale Flott, Dane Belton and Deonte Banks are all questionable to play. New York is already without Dexter Lawrence II, Azeez Ojulari, Tyler Nubin and D.J. Davidson, who all occupy their injured reserve list. Nubin was the most recent addition after being ruled out for the year on Thursday.</p><p>As it currently stands, the Giants will be without five of their best overall players against one of the top teams in the NFL. The 8-5 Ravens are coming out of their bye week with a loss in their previous game, practically ensuring that the best version of themselves will be on display in Week 15. He studied journalism and communication at UConn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">New York Giants</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced that quarterback Drew Lock is in a walking boot due to a heel injury and that Tommy DeVito is <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1866899487752589586" rel="noopener">expected to start</a> against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.</p><p>DeVito got the initial start after Daniel Jones was benched and released <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-news-giants-raiders-qbs-espns-2025-mock-draft">by the Giants</a>, but he suffered an injury that kept him out against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Lock got the start in that game, and he kept the job the next week against the New Orleans Saints. He was in line to start again against the Ravens, but the injury forces DeVito to take over again.</p><p>The quarterback position has been a sore spot <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-ultimate-decider-brian-daboll-giant-job">for the Giants</a> this season. Jones did not work out at all after he signed his four-year, $160 million deal. It was so untenable that the team had to release him in the middle of his second year on the contract. DeVito and Lock are not long-term answers for the Giants, and they both have struggled in their limited time. With Lock hurt, an injury to DeVito means Tim Boyle, who was signed just a few weeks ago, could be next up.</p><h2><b>Giants’ quarterback woes since Eli Manning’s departure</b></h2><p>The end of the Eli Manning era with the Giants was not great, as the team struggled mightily and likely held onto the franchise legend too long. However, the struggles New York has had at the position since then make it easier to appreciate Manning’s long tenure and consecutive games played streak.</p><p>The Giants expected Jones to be the successor, and along with not living up to expectations on the field, he suffered injuries in four different seasons with the team. The franchise has also had Colt McCoy, Mike Glennon, Jake Fromm, Davis Webb, Tyrod Taylor, DeVito and Lock start games for them since Manning was originally benched for Jones in 2019.</p><p>With the Giants having just two wins on the season, they are in line to be towards the top of the 2025 NFL Draft, and perhaps have the No. 1 overall pick. Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward could very well be the selection and hopeful next franchise quarterback. However, that does not mean that those two will have even a fraction of the success that Manning did in New York. The struggles the Giants have faced since Manning’s retirement make it easier to appreciate the success he found.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Making matters even worse, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-drew-lock-injury-update-loss-saints">starting quarterback Drew Lock</a> was sent for X-rays after the game, meaning that New York could once again be forced into making a change at quarterback.</p><p>There has been no semblance of consistency on offense for the Giants as of late, as they have rotated between Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, and Lock over the past few weeks after they cut ties with Jones. Lock only earned the starting job because DeVito got injured, and while head coach Brian Daboll confirmed Lock is <a href="https://x.com/MikeGarafolo/status/1866178530909807102" rel="noopener">in line to start again</a> in Week 15, that will depend on whether or not Lock is actually healthy enough to take the field.</p><p>“Drew Lock will start for the Giants against the Ravens if he’s healthy enough, Brian Daboll tells reporters. He’s going through tests,” Mike Garafolo of NFL Network shared in a post on X, formerly Twitter.</p><h2><b>Giants hoping Drew Lock can suit up vs. the Ravens</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Giants-quarterback-Drew-Lock.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Kevin R. After the game, Drew Lock took stock of his physical condition, and updated reporters about a possible injury.</p><p>“Drew Lock still not out of uniform. Got X-rays after game. Says they look clean for now but <a href="https://x.com/PLeonardNYDN/status/1865880454106362275" rel="noopener">more tests coming</a> in the morning,” reported Giants beat writer Pat Leonard.</p><p>Asked how he could get up after taking 13 hits, Lock said, “If there’s no grass stains on this jersey, I’d feel like I didn’t do anything today.” Then, he also added, “Just a couple bumps and bruises for right now. Wexler-NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Moreover, besides getting banged up with possible injury, Drew Lock played a terrible game versus the Saints, starting out 0-8 and eventually finishing the first half 6-19 for only 52 yards, the Giants offense stalling under his command.</p><p>This stagnant offense has pained the Giants all season, under the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-release-daniel-jones-after-turning-to-tommy-devito">just-released Daniel Jones</a>, and things didn’t seem to improve under Tommy DeVito, dealing with a forearm injury, and now Lock.</p><p>Even rookie wide receiver <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-malik-nabers-nfl-rookie-history-recent-comments">Malik Nabers has fired shots at seemingly everyone</a> on the team as the offense has failed to give him the ball, despite an already explosive rookie season.</p><p>Likewise, things became so heated that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-malik-nabers-didnt-pay-for-dumpster-fire-plane">Nabers said he didn’t pay for the plane</a> that flew overhead MetLife during the game, after a reporter asked him about it.</p><p>Meanwhile, Lock played a bit better in the second half, manufacturing the Giants’ lone touchdown in the fourth quarter and leading them to within 35 yards for a (blocked) field goal to force overtime.</p><p>Asked about his first half performance, Lock admitted that it bothered him.</p><p>“Just <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/08/sports/drew-lock-left-feeling-giants-loss-in-full-body-effort/" rel="noopener">missed some easy ones.</a> It’s one of those halves where you’re going to go back and be frustrated,” the quarterback said, via Paul Schwartz of The New York Post. “They were giving us some stuff and just didn’t maximize the opportunities they gave us. You know as the quarterback and how I feel, it’s the classic shooting myself in the foot. After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-release-daniel-jones-after-turning-to-tommy-devito">granting the longtime starter’s release</a>, the Giants handed the offense over to second-year signal caller Tommy DeVito, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent last season. This decision was met with consternation from former second-round draft pick Drew Lock, who was not pleased that head coach <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-drew-lock-shade-brian-daboll-passed-over-starting-qb-job">Brian Daboll passed him over for the starting role</a>.</p><p>In Week 13, Lock got what he wanted. But, as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. An <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-tommy-devito-unlikely-to-play-vs-cowboys-but-theres-a-catch">injury to DeVito</a> thrust the sixth-year veteran into the spotlight on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys. Lock did not have a good day passing but he did set a career-high in the game.</p><p>The 28-year-old QB was sacked six times by Dallas’ defense, the <a href="https://twitter.com/statmusefb/status/1862295499098689946" rel="noopener">most sacks</a> Lock has taken in any game during his time in the NFL, according to StatMuse Football on X.</p><p>Including Thursday’s loss to the Cowboys, Lock has appeared in a total of 32 games throughout his career with the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Giants. He’s now been sacked 46 times. His previous single-game high sack total came in Week 14 of 2023 when he drew the start against the San Francisco 49ers as a member of the Seahawks. He was taken down four times in the 28-16 loss.</p><h2><b>Giants’ QB Drew Lock took a beating on Thanksgiving</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Drew-Lock_4b115a.jpg"><figcaption>Andrew Dieb-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>In Thursday’s spot start for the Giants, Lock went 21/32 for 178 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. Cowboys’ linebacker <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cowboys-news-demarvion-overshown-mind-boggling-pick-6-giants">DeMarvion Overshown made a sensational play</a>, batting a weak screen pass attempt by Lock to himself, catching it and returning it untouched for a pick-six in the second quarter. Lock also lost a fumble.</p><p>However, he had more luck on the ground, rushing four times for 57 yards and a score. Lock scrambled for an eight-yard touchdown with just over two minutes remaining in the four quarter to make it a seven-point game. But the Giants were soundly beaten despite the final score.</p><p>The 27-20 loss dropped New York to 2-10 on the season. The Giants have now lost seven straight games and became the first team in the league to officially be eliminated from playoff contention. Head coach <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-brian-daboll-immediate-backlash-cowboys-game-admission">Brian Daboll is facing harsh backlash</a> for the nationally televised loss as his seat gets scorching hot.</p><p>The Giants were playing <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/giants-news-ny-missing-top-corner-ahead-cowboys-ceedee-lamb-clash">without their top cornerback Deonte Banks</a> on Thursday, as the 2023 first-round pick sat with a rib ailment.
