At 3-5, the Texans are going to have an uphill battle for the rest of the season. Nine games remain for them, and they have time to turn things around. However, if star quarterback CJ Stroud is unavailable for a crucial contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10, then their season might be doomed already. Falling into a 3-6 hole will be very difficult to climb out of.</p><p>CJ Stroud <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1985447634761662935" rel="noopener">remains in concussion protocol</a> after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/houston-texans/texans-news-c-j-stroud-forced-leave-game-broncos-possible-head-injury">leaving the game against the Denver Broncos</a> on Sunday. Before the injury, the Texans controlled the game for the most part. They led 15-7 at one point until the Broncos stormed back to win the game with a field goal as time expired.</p><p>“He’s feeling a little bit better,” Texans HC DeMeco Ryans said about Stroud. “We’ll see how the week goes and how he progresses throughout the week. Davis [Mills] if he has to step in and play, we expect him to go out and do his best, play the offense the proper way and make great decisions with the football.”</p><p>The Texans have seen a small sample of success from Mills, but what Stroud was able to accomplish last year shows that the team desperately needs him to play well to reach their peak. Stroud is having a down year, throwing for only 1,702 yards in eight games. He has 11 touchdown passes to five interceptions. If he is able to return for Week 10 against the Jags at home, then the Texans will have a great shot at winning.</p><p>Houston contains the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL right now. DeMeco Ryans is coaching his ass off, and his defenders are playing extremely well. Houston also allows the fewest total yards per game in the league at only 267.4. Their 15.1 points allowed is better than the Los Angeles Rams, who are second at 15.9.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

By doing so, the 29-year-old gives Houston its full offensive starting lineup for the week, save for fullback Jakob Johnson.</p><p>Schultz enters Week 9 with 40 targets, a team-high 32 catches and 308 receiving yards. He is currently the team’s second-leading receiver, only behind star wideout Nico Collins.</p><p>Although Schultz has yet to miss a game in 2025, he has been on the injury report for multiple weeks with a myriad of injuries. It remains to be seen how limited Schultz might be after he brought in just two catches for a season-low 24 receiving yards in Week 8.</p><p>Collins, who missed Week 8 with a concussion, has cleared protocol and will rejoin the team in Week 9. His returning presence gives quarterback C.J. When the Broncos rush for over 130 yards, they’re undefeated this season.</p><p>The Texans’ aggressive front seven, led by Hunter and Anderson, can sometimes over-pursue. They have won three of their last four games, including an 11-point win against the then 5-2 San Francisco 49ers. That was despite playing without Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who missed the game with a concussion.</p><p>Collins suffered a concussion after taking a hard fall on Monday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7. On Monday, Texans’ head coach <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/houston-texans/texans-news-demeco-ryans-avoids-nico-collins-injury-update">DeMeco Ryans refused to update Collins’ status</a> for Houston’s Week 9 matchup with the Denver Broncos.</p><p>But on Wednesday, Ryans finally <a href="https://twitter.com/AaronWilson_NFL/status/1983620738818174988" rel="noopener">divulged some good news</a>, which ought to be music to fantasy football managers’ ears who drafted Collins.</p><p>“He’s technically still in the concussion protocol. Both Collins and Kirk would be a welcomed sight for quarterback CJ Stroud, knowing the opponent.</p><p>The Texans face a stingy Broncos defense. Denver is 6-2 and in first place in the AFC West, having won five straight. Despite that, the Texans are <a href="https://www.oddstrader.com/nfl/" rel="noopener">favored by 1.5 at home</a> on Sunday.</p><p>Much of that likely has to do with Broncos’ All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain being doubtful to play. If he is unable to go, look for Collins to try and create big plays downfield.</p><p>Thus far this season, Collins has disappointed in fantasy. He has surpassed 100 yards only once. Collins has turned 46 targets into 339 yards and three touchdowns, which are more WR2 numbers. Fantasy football managers likely used a late-first or early-second round pick on him.
