I was disappointed in how we looked all 4 quarters.”</p><p>Houston controlled nearly every statistical category, piling up 475 yards of total offense to the 49ers’ 223 while dominating time of possession, 41:22 to 18:38. Mac Jones completed 19 of 32 passes for 193 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, but he spent much of the afternoon under heavy pressure.</p><p>San Francisco offense didn’t register a first down until the final minute of the second quarter, and their first-half possession time was a mere 5 minutes and 29 seconds compared to the Texans’ 24:31.</p><p>Houston’s defense, molded in the image of head coach DeMeco Ryans, a former 49ers defensive coordinator, set the tone from the start. All that means is that he can return to practice within the 21-day allotment.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/49ers-texans-bold-predictions-2025-week-8-clash">The 49ers will face the Houston Texans</a> on Sunday in Houston. Aiyuk more than likely won’t play then, but returning to practice is a good sign for his prospects of playing sometime this season. The wideout from Arizona State has been on injured reserve for just over a year with a torn ACL and MCL. <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/article/brandon-aiyuk-injury-kyle-shanahan-211156741.html">One possible timeline</a> could see Aiyuk return anytime from Week 9 to Week 12. Nick Bosa tore his ACL, while quarterback Brock Purdy has struggled with various injuries. George Kittle has missed a few games, and wide receivers Jauan Jennings and Ricky Piersall have missed time on and off with injuries.</p><p>Over his career, Aiyuk has tallied 4,305 yards over five seasons. In 2023, he was seventh in the NFL in yards with 1,342 in a breakout season. Although not as full as it once was, Kyle Shanahan’s team will still be without Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall for their matchup with the Houston Texans.</p><p>Purdy and Pearsall were both doubtful throughout the week, but the 49ers <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1981828584521265334" rel="noopener">officially ruled them out</a> on Friday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. While Purdy has been logging limited practice sessions as he recovers from a turf toe injury, Pearsall has yet to return from his sprained PCL.</p><p>Without Purdy, the 49ers will continue rolling with Mac Jones at quarterback. San Francisco is 4-1 with Jones as its starter in 2025, as opposed to 1-1 with Purdy.</p><p>Pearsall’s absence should lead to another start for Kendrick Bourne, who has been riding a hot streak in 2025. The newly minted DC said before the season that the veteran linebacker would play a vital role in the revamped Cincinnati defense. Wilson was one of the better defenders on the Bengals over the last few years, being a key part of the team that went all the way to the Super Bowl in 2022 and the AFC Championship game in 2022.</p><p>However, through seven games, Wilson <a href="https://www.espn.ph/nfl/story/_/id/46597458/bengals-defensive-stalwart-logan-wilson-addresses-benching" rel="noopener">has seen his usage steadily decline</a> as his role was taken over by two rookies. The Bengals have chosen to go younger as the season progressed, trying out Demetrius Knight Jr. and Barrett Carter more over the veteran. That’s seemingly left Wilson a little disgruntled with his play.</p><p>Now, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals/bengals-news-cincinnati-season-blow-logan-wilson-trade-request">Wilson has requested a trade from the Bengals</a> after steadily losing snaps over the last few weeks. The Bengals are likely going to oblige the veteran’s request. However, which teams should try to avail the linebacker’s services? Let’s look at three teams that should be calling Cincinnati to inquire about a Logan Wilson trade.</p><h2><b>San Francisco 49ers</b></h2><p>The 49ers already have reported interest in one of the Bengals’ top players. With the injury to Nick Bosa, San Francisco is reportedly interested in trading for star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. With the many injuries to their defensive roster, it makes sense for the team to try and acquire more players to keep their playoff hopes alive.</p><p>The Bengals have already rebuffed suitors looking to acquire Hendrickson, believing they’re still in play for a playoff spot. If a Hendrickson trade doesn’t materialize, perhaps the 49ers can call about Wilson to fill another need on defense. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/49ers-news-san-francisco-replace-irreplaceable-fred-warner">Fred Warner is out for the season as well,</a> and San Francisco could use a veteran middle linebacker.</p><p>Wilson is one of the smarter linebackers in the league, and he’s still been reliable in spurts when the Bengals put him in. Despite their stellar record, though, the Colts are still looking for an improvement on the defensive end.</p><p>According to recent reports, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/colts-rumors-what-to-watch-for-trade-deadline-hot-start">Colts are looking to trade for a playmaker</a> on the defensive side of the ball to help them old. The Indianapolis defense has been solid so far, but there are clear holes at the linebacker and the pass rush that still need to be addressed.</p><p>Wilson could be one of the names that the Colts target at the trade deadline. Indianapolis DC Lou Anarumo worked with Wilson extensively in Cincinnati prior to this season. Wilson’s familiarity with Anarumo’s schemes could spark a resurgence in the linebacker. He should also help the Colts’ problems at the linebacker position.</p><h2><b>Dallas Cowboys</b></h2><p>When any defensive player is requesting a trade, the Cowboys should be one of the teams that are asking. It’s hard to get even worse than where the Cowboys are right now. While they had a solid showing in Week 7, the last six weeks of the NFL season have not inspired any confidence that Dallas can maintain their performance against the Washington Commanders in the succeeding weeks.</p><p>Part of their struggles this season is due to their linebackers’ struggles. With DeMarvion Overshown still recovering from a season-ending injury last season, the Cowboys have struggled to fill the gap left by the linebacker. It hasn’t been pretty, with the Cowboys getting gashed by the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 due to the linebackers struggling to get into their sets.</p><p>Wilson might have lost a step due to age, but he’s still a solid linebacker for a team. Instead, it has been the wide receivers ravaged by injury.</p><p>The NFL Week 8 slate of games is no exception, with a ton of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/fantasy-sports/nfl-week-8-fantasy-football-injury-report-2025">stars on this week’s injury report</a>. With so many pass catchers banged up, it creates opportunities for fantasy managers to find solid streaming options.</p><h2><b>Troy Franklin &amp; Marvin Mims – Broncos WRs</b></h2><p>We will kick off this list with a pair of teammates.</p><p>Denver Broncos wide receivers Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. both offer strong streaming appeal for fantasy managers. The biggest reason is the opponent.</p><p>The Broncos face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. While Dallas’ offense is on fire, their defense is still a train wreck. They have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.</p><p>Yes, Courtland Sutton sits atop the depth chart in Denver. But both Franklin and Mims, who are widely available in fantasy leagues, can be started in your flex spot this week. For what it is worth, I slightly rank Franklin higher, as his depth per target is significantly greater.</p><h2><b>Elic Ayomanor – Titans WR</b></h2><p>The Tennessee Titans have the worst offense in football. That is pretty clear at this point. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward has failed to live up to expectations thus far. But that does not mean fantasy managers need to stay away.</p><p>The Titans’ top receiver, Calvin Ridley, is banged up and unlikely to play. That leaves Elic Ayomanor to receive the lion’s share of targets from Ward. They will face the 6-1 Indianapolis Colts this weekend.</p><p>The Colts are <a href="https://www.oddstrader.com/nfl/" rel="noopener">heavily favored by 14.5 points</a>. The over/under sits at 47.5, meaning the Colts are implied to win roughly 31-16. That is the perfect game script for Ward to sling the ball around, with Ayomanor, who has already had a couple of solid games, being the biggest beneficiary.</p><h2><b>Jaylin Noel – Texans WR</b></h2><p>The next wide receiver fantasy football managers might want to stream is another unheralded player: Jaylin Noel.</p><p>He is in a similar spot as Ayomanor. The Houston Texans’ top receiver, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/houston-texans/texans-news-nico-collins-concussion-makes-houstons-brutal-night-even-worse">Nico Collins, is dealing with a concussion</a> and unlikely to play. Christian Kirk still is not practicing. Even tight end Dalton Schultz is questionable.</p><p>That leaves Noel and Jayden Higgins as the only pass catchers.</p><p>The Texans face the 5-2 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, which should provide a positive game script for Noel to garner at least eight targets. You may not like it, but he offers streaming appeal.</p><h2><b>Jauan Jennings – 49ers WR</b></h2><p>The next player with streaming appeal for fantasy managers plays in that same game. 49ers’ wideout Jauan Jennings is looking at a breakout opportunity. Ricky Pearsall is highly unlikely to play, and we saw Jennings supplant Kendrick Bourne as the alpha wide receiver.</p><p>Whether it is Mac Jones or Brock Purdy under center, Jennings has a great chance for a big game. It will be a classic chess match between one of the league’s most innovative defensive minds and his former mentor, Kyle Shanahan.</p><p>The Texans (2-5) do not have the record of a contender. However, they’ve been a thorn in the side of every opponent. Their defense plays fast and disciplined, though their offense remains inconsistent under CJ Stroud. He has struggled in recent weeks after a hot start. With Nico Collins questionable due to a concussion, the Texans will likely rely on tight end Dalton Schultz and a steady dose of short passes to move the chains. Expect Jones to rely heavily on Kittle and McCaffrey in the short-to-intermediate range, with Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne serving as decoys to stretch the field. Jones will throw for under 200 yards but avoid turnovers. He will do just enough to guide San Francisco to another grind-it-out win.</p><p>The Texans’ defense will keep the game close early, CMC’s relentless production and a few key defensive stops will tilt momentum late.
