That means they won’t have a bye in the first week of the playoffs and will have to go on the road.</p><p>Wide receiver Jordan Addison played a key role in the victory for the Vikings as he caught 6 passes for 69 yards and an 18-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter that gave Minnesota a 20-3 lead. Addison gave <a href="https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1873529573415223318">this assessment</a> of the win over the Packers and sent a message to Vikings fans about the Week 18 game with the Lions.</p><p>“It felt good,” Addison said in his postgame interview with the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. “It’s a division game and we knew it was going to be a dog fight. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/vikings-news-vikings-defense-gets-major-bump-week-17-vs-packers">the Vikings defense</a> frustrated Love for the first three-plus quarters of the game and allowed the home team to build a big lead.</p><p>Much of that was due to the performance of Darnold, who torched the Packers at multiple points. Darnold came out firing and he completed 33 of 43 passes for 377 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 interception. In addition to his scoring pass to Addison, he also hit Jalen Nailor and running back Cam Aker with TD passes. Superstar wideout Justin Jefferson did not get into the end zone but he did catch 8 passes for 92 yards.</p><p>Darnold’s most important completion came on the team’s final possession after the Packers had closed to within two points. On a 3rd-and-2 play from from the Green Bay 49 with 1:49 remaining, Darnold tossed a short pass to Akers that resulted in a finger-tip grab and a first down. The Vikings simply have to win in Week 17 and they face a familiar foe in the Packers. Minnesota will need a strong performance from their offense if they’re going to win this game.</p><p>If you ask Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison, it is no problem. Addison <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1873386572684419319" rel="noopener">made a bold MVP take</a> about his QB Sam Darnold during a recent interview.</p><p>“You mean the MVP?,” Addison told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero when asked what he is seeing from Darnold lately. “Man we’ve seen it all. He’s calling the shots right now, he is comfortable in the scheme and every week he is showing up.”</p><p>Both Addison and Darnold are having the best season of their NFL careers. Addison has hauled in 56 receptions for 806 yards and eight touchdowns with two games to play. He only needs roughly 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns to match the production from his rookie season.</p><p>Meanwhile, Darnold has thrown for 3,776 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. All of these stats are the best single-season marks of Darnolds career, and he is playing like one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the entire NFL.</p><p>Pelissero said that he told Addison that you don’t really see Darnold’s name a whole lot in the MVP conversations. Addison replied by saying “that’s because they’re just sleeping on us right now. That is no easy task, as it means beating the Packers and then beating the Lions in Week 18.</p><p>If the Vikings can pull this off, they will both win the NFC North and secure a top seed in the playoffs. Getting the No. 1 seed is more important than ever, as it means an extra week of rest and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.</p><p>On the other hand, losing in Week 17 would be a disaster for Minnesota. If they lose against Green Bay on Sunday, and Detroit beats San Francisco on Monday, then the Lions will earn the No. 1 seed for themselves. They are 10-2 and storming toward the playoffs in a season with slim expectations. But off the field, a key player is dealing with a potential suspension. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/vikings-news-jordan-addison-charged-misdemeanors-dui-arrest">Jordan Addison was arrested for DUI</a> in July and a recent update brings a suspension timeline into focus for the Vikings’ wide receiver. Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jordan-addison-pleaded-not-guilty-to-two-misdemeanor-dui-charges" rel="noopener">wrote on the</a> latest on Tuesday.</p><p>“Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison pleaded not guilty Tuesday to two misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from a July arrest in Los Angeles,” Williams wrote, citing the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “He has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025,” she continued.</p><p>The NFL’s policy on DUI is a three-game suspension, which Addison has said he would “own up” to. The date of the conference implies that the suspension will not be coming this year for the second-year receiver.
