It’s a fate the Bills have grown accustomed to after taking strong teams into the playoffs in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/chiefs-news-kansas-city-nfl-history-bills-5-year-nightmare">each of the last five seasons</a> only to experience heartbreak – their last three playoff losses to the Kansas City Chiefs have been by a combined 12 points.</p><p>Bills’ GM Brandon Beane hoped to replenish the roster in the draft, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, after losing key pieces during the offseason. His top pick, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-buffalo-finds-stefon-diggs-replacement-in-keon-coleman-nfl-draft">wideout Keon Coleman</a> out of Florida State, did not pay immediate dividends for Buffalo.</p><p>Now, in a ranking of each team’s <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-rookie-grades-ranking-each-2024-draft-class-from-nos-1-to-32" rel="noopener">2024 draft class</a> by NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice, Coleman’s lackluster campaign is dragging the Bills’ overall grade down. Coleman struggled to create separation and make contested catches as a pro, according to Filice. “His inability to separate was clear to the naked eye… Meanwhile, Pro Football Focus charted that Coleman received 19 contested targets and caught just seven, giving him a subpar conversion rate of 36.8 percent,” Filice wrote.</p><p>“Coleman struggled to find a connection with Josh Allen on any sort of pass, catching just 10 of his 29 targets over the final seven games (playoffs included).” Despite solid contributions from rookie running back Ray Davis, Coleman’s disappointing debut season led to a draft grade of D+ from NFL.com.</p><h2><b>The Bills gambled on a rookie WR in 2024</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Keon-Coleman.jpg"><figcaption>Denny Medley-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>To be fair, a great deal was expected from Coleman in his first year in Western New York. The Bills lost their top two wideouts prior to the 2024 campaign. All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/texans-news-houston-acquires-stefon-diggs-blockbuster-bills-trade">traded to the Houston Texans</a> after four years in Buffalo that included four straight 1,000-yard seasons. And the Bills let Gabe Davis walk in free agency, allowing the Jacksonville Jaguars to sign him to a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-gabe-davis-3-year-39-million-contract-jaguars">three-year, $39 million deal</a>.</p><p>Diggs and Davis combined for 241 targets, 152 receptions, 1,929 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2023, in addition to their chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen and proven ability to show up in big games. Coleman was targeted 57 times in his rookie season, contributing 29 receptions for 556 yards and four scores.</p><p>It’s certainly not an embarrassing showing. But with Allen and the Bills seemingly on the cusp of making the leap to conference champs, a massive downgrade at wideout did not help. Allen, as you may have heard, still managed to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-news-tom-brady-mvp-vote-revealed-fiery-josh-allen-lamar-jackson-debate">win league MVP</a> despite not having his best statistical output. And Buffalo managed to win 13 games and reach the AFC Championship, where the team fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 32-29.</p><p>Allen led the Bills to the 10th ranked overall offense in 2024 as the group averaged 359.1 yards per game. Last season Buffalo finished fourth overall, with 374.5 yards per contest. In 2023, the Bills were second in the league with 397.6 yards of offense each week.</p><p>Was the dropoff all on Coleman? Of course not. And the team should have had a better plan after losing such a significant part of the passing game. At the very least, Buffalo shouldn’t have traded back in the draft with the Chiefs, who selected Xavier Worthy with the Bills’ original first round pick.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-buffalo-makes-final-keon-coleman-injury-decision-49ers">an unfortunate wrist held Coleman back</a>.</p><p>He missed four games in early November with his wrist injury. And when he came back, general manager Brandon Beane <a href="https://www.buffalobills.com/news/we-are-not-giving-in-bills-gm-brandon-beane-breaks-down-the-2024-season-and-addresses-offseason-plans" rel="noopener">wasn’t necessarily pleased</a> with his performance, via team reporters Alec White and Maddy Glab.</p><p>“I would say, probably a little disappointed in the return from injury. I did not see the same player down the stretch from a physicality, some of the things that he needs to use his size,” Beane said. “Some of that is youth, some of that is, I’m not sure how many injuries he’s had to overcome in-season and come back. That takes a certain experience level, how to deal with an injury and how to return.”</p><p>Still, Beane remains confident in Coleman’s ability to develop. He certainly hasn’t given up on him and still has hopes the wide receiver will become a crucial component of the offense.</p><p>“He has a skill set that we think will play well in this offense, but it’s up to him,” Beane said. “He’s going to have to work very hard this offseason, him and Josh continue to work on that rapport together.”</p><p>“But I’m optimistic that he’ll do those things, and that we’ll see him continue to improve going into year two,” Beane concluded.</p><p>Keon Coleman ended his rookie year with 29 catches for 556 yards and four touchdowns. However, he broke 100 yards receiving in just one game. He had less than 40 yards receiving in the Bills’ final six games of the season, including the playoffs. Coleman caught three passes for 22 scoreless yards in the postseason.</p><p>So while there were flashes of brilliance, Beane and the Bills are expecting more from Coleman. But entering the offseason fully healthy, and with a year of catching passes from Josh Allen under their belt, Buffalo still believes <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-key-attributes-keon-coleman-brings-buffalo-offense-josh-allen">Coleman can be a key offensive threat</a> in the future.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-gameday-injury-updates-2-josh-allen-weapons-rams">missing last week’s 44-42 upset loss</a> to the Los Angeles Rams, wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) and tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1867579488579567837" rel="noopener">are expected to play</a> against Detroit.</p><p>“Keon Coleman, the standout receiver, really promising receiver, battled a wrist injury the last several weeks and has not been able to play. When Quinn isn't producing content for CP,  he's writing sports betting predictions for numerous sites across North America.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Buffalo Bills</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Buffalo Bills are getting two key weapons back this week at practice, paving the way for their return in a huge game against the Detroit Lions in Week 15.</p><p>Both wide receiver Keon Coleman and tight end Dalton Kincaid are <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1866889915998392529" rel="noopener">expected to practice</a> in full on Wednesday. Via Ian Rapoport:</p><p>“Good news on the way for Buffalo: Bills WR Keon Coleman (wrist) and TE Dalton Kincaid (knee) are expected to practice fully today. A positive step forward in advance of the showdown with the Lions.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-josh-allen-hilarious-not-normal-review-keon-coleman">Coleman has been one of Josh Allen’s go-to targets this season</a> but hasn’t played since Week 9. As for Kincaid, he’s missed the Bills’ last two games. These two are extremely important players for Buffalo.</p><p>Even without them, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-why-josh-allen-took-blame-despite-6-td-game-loss-rams">Allen has managed to keep his squad afloat</a>. Despite a crushing 44-42 loss in Week 14 to the Los Angeles Rams, the Bills are still 10-3 and one of the best teams in the NFL. They will have their work cut out for them on Sunday with the Lions, who own the top record in the league at 12-1. No one has been able to stop Detroit.</p><p>Coleman is third on the roster in receptions (22) and second in yards (417) despite missing time. He’s certainly proven his worth in this revamped WR room after the Bills traded away Stefon Diggs. As for Kincaid, he’s been a solid piece for years. The TE has 34 grabs for 356 yards. Khalil Shakir has stepped up heavily with his two teammates on the shelf.</p><p>While the Bills already clinched the AFC East title with a Week 13 win over the San Francisco 49ers, they’re still in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the conference with five contests remaining. Other than facing the Lions, Buffalo should comfortably win the other four, taking on the New England Patriots and the New York Jets twice.</p><p>Kick-off on Sunday is scheduled for 4:25 PM ET at Ford Field in Detroit.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Born and raised in California, he is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a diehard Hokies fan who now resides in southern Maryland.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Buffalo Bills</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Buffalo Bills won’t have wide receiver Keon Coleman, who’s been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-keon-coleman-discouraging-week-10-update">out since Week 10</a>, available to play for the third straight game as <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1863357638886486016" rel="noopener">he was downgraded</a> to out because of a wrist injury, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.</p><p>“Sources: #Bills rookie WR Keon Coleman, who is questionable tonight with a wrist injury, will be OUT vs the #49ers, missing his third straight game. Coleman has made significant progress, but the team will give him another week to fully recover.”</p><p>The rookie was having a solid season before his Week 9 injury against the Miami Dolphins. Through nine games, the former Florida State football playmaker collected 22 receptions for 417 yards and three touchdowns. His 10 receptions of more than 20  yards still lead the team.</p><p>The Bills will also be without DT DeWayne Carter (wrist) and TE Dalton Kincaid (knee). LB Matt Milano who was activated off of injured reserve is expected to make his season debut.</p><h2><b>Bills locked into postseason, must fight for best seed</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Bills-Keon-Coleman-celebrating-a-two-point-conversion.jpg"><figcaption>Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the top-heavy AFC. With the No. 1 seed likely locked up at Arrowhead Stadium, the Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Chargers are the team’s most dominant remaining teams. All five teams have odds of making the playoffs at 90% or better.</p><p>Looking ahead to their matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, cornerback <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-rasul-douglas-sounds-off-49ers-brock-purdy-uncertainty">Rasul Douglas believes</a> the team needs to be focused on Brock Purdy amid his injury concerns, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.</p><p>“I don’t think you ever look at it like, ‘Oh, he’s not playing.’ You play for the starter,” Douglas said. “We think that that’s why he rested last week to play this week. So, I mean that’s just our mindset that he’s going to play. If the game comes and he doesn’t play, then we’ll just keep the same plan.”</p><p>Josh Allen credits head coach Sean McDermott for keeping the Bills <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miJvGCbpx-M" rel="noopener">focused this year</a> during a recent press conference.</p><p>“I think coach McDermott does a great job of making sure that when we get back [from the bye], we’re not necessarily picking up where we left off, it’s more let’s get back to what we did in training camp, get back to the basics focus on fundamentals,” Allen said. “Again, playing situational football and doing simple better, and I think that’s something that he’s been preaching to us, and again, the guys in this locker room have taken that in stride over the last seven or eight years.</p><p>“It comes down to the guys on the field playing, but good leadership will do that.”</p><p>The Bills host the 49ers for Sunday Night Football beginning tonight at 8:20 p.m EST.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
