The Falcons’ wide receiver room is currently a bit of a question mark, with Darnell Mooney and multiple other players currently dealing with injury.</p><p>One of the biggest sources of angst for the Falcons’ fanbase over the last few years has been tight end Kyle Pitts, whom the team drafted fourth overall back in 2021 and who has failed to come anywhere near his lofty expectations.</p><p>This being the case, it would make sense that the Falcons may look to trade the former Florida Gator at some point, and that could come sooner rather than later according to ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano, <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46079215/2025-nfl-surprise-predictions-32-teams-stat-leaders-breakouts-fantasy-football" rel="noopener">who recently said</a> “don’t be surprised” if Pitts gets traded.</p><p>“Part of this is what I’m seeing — or rather <i>not</i> seeing. Pitts is in the final year of his contract, playing for $10.878 million on the fifth-year option from his rookie deal. The Falcons have made no move to extend him beyond this season,” reported Graziano.</p><p>Graziano also noted that “…there are definitely signs that they don’t view Pitts as a great fit for what they’re trying to do on offense. They will need all hands on deck if they want to win the NFC South later this fall.</p><p>Falcons GM Terry Fontenot <a href="https://x.com/TerrinWaack/status/1949458079591866462" rel="noopener">dodged a question</a> about Kyle Pitts’ contract during an interview on Sunday. In fact, there was only one thing that Fontenot wanted to say about Pitts at the beginning of training camp.</p><p>“We’re not going to talk about specific contracts,” Fontenot said. “I’ll say this about Kyle…he showed up in great shape, and he showed up with great mentality.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/nfl-rumors-kyle-pitts-trade-option-for-dolphins-after-steelers-trade">Pitts was the subject of trade rumors</a> earlier this offseason. Year 2 of understanding what we’re trying to do offensively. All those things that come with it, so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle. He knows what he needs to work on with the details, some of the fundamentals and techniques, the consistency down in and down out, those are things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player.”</p><p>Pitts had one of his better seasons in 2024, hauling in 47 receptions for 602 yards and four touchdowns. That is still much lower than the sky-high expectations placed on Pitts when he entered the NFL.</p><p>The 2025 season will be huge for Pitts, regardless of whether he wants to remain in Atlanta in the future.</p><p>Hopefully Pitts takes a big step forward this fall, just like Robinson predicted.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

While <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-news-legendary-wr-michael-penix-jr-kirk-cousins-dynamic">Cousins is still on the roster</a>, creating a bit of a potentially awkward situation, Penix Jr. has shown poise and maturity during his limited time as the Falcons’ starting quarterback.</p><p>One source of angst among the Falcons’ fanbase has been the play of tight end Kyle Pitts, who was drafted fourth overall in 2021 but has yet to live up to the lofty standards he displayed at Florida.</p><p>Recently, Penix Jr. made sure to shout out Pitts <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1948425012169314362" rel="noopener">at a press conference</a> during training camp.</p><p>“See we got Kyle Pitts the ball today? Gonna be a lot of that,” said Penix Jr., per NFL insider Jordan Schultz on X, formerly Twitter (via Justin Felder).</p><p>Falcons fans would indeed like to see more production out of Pitts this year and are hoping that a quarterback change will do the trick. Pitts and Penix Jr. connected for a clutch touchdown in Atlanta’s late season game against the Washington Commanders last year that sent the contest into overtime, which could perhaps be a glimpse of things to come moving forward between the duo.</p><h2><b>Can the Falcons compete?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Michael-Penix-Jr2.jpg"><figcaption>Brett Davis-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Falcons’ biggest weakness coming into this offseason was the team’s pass rush, which has been among the worst units in the NFL for most of the last decades.</p><p>Atlanta invested heavily in that department by spending their own first round draft pick on Jalon Walker out of the University of Georgia and then trading back into the first round to select James Pearce out of Tennessee.</p><p>If those two picks pan out, the Falcons could finally see a competent pass rush for the first time in a long while.</p><p>That, combined with continued ascendance from Penix Jr. as well as the emergence of star running back Bijan Robinson, could be enough to vault the Falcons back into the postseason for the first time in eight years.</p><p>However, there are quite a lot of “if’s” in that scenario.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

One NFL insider believes the Dolphins could make another move to shore up the roster before training camp.</p><p>ESPN’s Marce Louis-Jacques answered a few Dolphins-related questions in a recent article following Monday’s big trade.</p><p>Louis-Jacques suggested that the Dolphins <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45617965/jalen-ramsey-minkah-fitzpatrick-steelers-dolphins-trade-questions-contract" rel="noopener">could be interested</a> in Kyle Pitts to fill their vacant tight end spot.</p><p>“Miami could also use a pass-catching tight end, considering the top players in that position group are primarily blockers,” Louis-Jacques wrote. “Former undrafted free agents Tanner Conner, Hayden Rucci and Jalin Conyers have potential as pass catchers but are unproven. One name to keep an eye on is Kyle Pitts — if the Atlanta Falcons are willing to entertain offers for him.”</p><p>News broke back in May that Atlanta has received <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/nfl-rumors-falcons-kyle-pitts-drawing-legitimate-trade-interest">“legitimate trade interest” in tight end Kyle Pitts</a>.</p><p>Pitts has the traits of an elite receiving tight end. Unfortunately, he has yet to deliver on those expectations while in Atlanta.</p><p>Pitts put up over 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie season in 2021, but has failed to live up to that mark ever since. Perhaps a change of scenery could be good for Pitts heading into the final year of his rookie contract.</p><p>That is, if the Falcons are actually willing to trade him.</p><h2><b>How will the Jalen Ramsey trade impact the Dolphins defense in 2025?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Jalen-Ramsey-makes-play.jpg"><figcaption>© Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Louis-Jacques also commented on what <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/jalen-ramsey-breaks-news-of-his-own-steelers-dolphins-trade">the loss of Jalen Ramsey</a> could mean to the Dolphins this fall.</p><p>Surprisingly, Louis-Jacques is not too concerned about the Dolphins losing Ramsey. That’s because the situation is so bad that one player cannot fix it alone.</p><p>“The Dolphins’ situation at cornerback is no different than it was two weeks ago — they still need two starters on either side of the field. Grier has suggested the availability of multiple veteran free agents, and that’s an increasingly likely route prior to the start of training camp,” Louis-Jacques added. “Their current cornerbacks room has plenty of youth and potential, but little starting experience.”</p><p>The Dolphins currently have Storm Duck, Jason Marshall Jr., and Kader Kohou as their top cornerbacks heading into training camp.</p><p>It would be a huge surprise if the Dolphins do not add at least two veteran cornerbacks to shore up that position.</p><p>It will be interesting to watch Miami’s secondary throughout the 2025 NFL season now that Ramsey is gone.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

And he’s getting some from <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/eagles-news-dallas-goedert-reveals-why-returned-philadelphia-teu">the return of Dallas Goedert</a>. And even more could be on the way as the Eagles were named as an interesting trade destination for Kyle Pitts.</p><p>The Falcons might look to go a different direction as Pitts has been unable to live up to his massive potential while wearing a Falcons uniform. He came to Atlanta via the first round (No. 4 overall) of the 2021 draft. And he caught 68 balls for 1,026 yards as a rookie. But he scored just one touchdown.</p><p>Since then, Pitts hasn’t topped the 60 mark in receptions. Also, he hasn’t gotten within 300 of his 2021 yardage total. One interesting stat is that his touchdowns have gone up by one each season.</p><h2><b>Eagles might be a fit for TE Kyle Pitts</b></h2><p>It makes sense for the Falcons to find <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45569999/2025-nfl-offseason-final-moves-suggestions-trades-signings-extensions-32-teams#ATL" rel="noopener">a trade partner</a>, according to espn.com.</p><p>“Pitts has never matched the heights of his 1,026-yard rookie season, nor has he matched expectations as the No. 4 overall pick,” Aaron Schatz wrote. “It’s very unlikely that the Falcons extend or re-sign him after the 2025 season. So perhaps the best thing is to get some value for him now and let him see what he can do with a change of scenery.”</p><p>Schatz tabbed three teams as possible landing spots for Pitts.</p><p>“The Jets might be an interesting landing spot for Pitts, as he could play next to rookie Mason Taylor in two-TE sets,” Schatz wrote. “The Giants could also use an upgrade at the position. Even the Eagles might be an interesting trade target, as Dallas Goedert is now 30 years old.”</p><p>However, let the Eagles beware. Pitts is <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45436087/falcons-say-te-kyle-pitts-dealing-undisclosed-injury" rel="noopener">dealing with an injury</a> this summer, according to espn.com.</p><p>“Extremely cautious with Kyle right now and what he’s got going on,” Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said. “Obviously, don’t talk about injuries this time of year. But definitely being cautious with him, so you won’t see him. He’s been here, he’s done such a great job. He’s been in every single thing that we’ve done other than the field, and he’s been absolutely outstanding to be around.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Now there are whispers that the Falcons could part ways with one of their offensive weapons ahead of the 2025 season.</p><p>ESPN’s Adam Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday. Ty Schmidt <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1930583507090247830" rel="noopener">asked Schefter about what’s going on</a> with Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts and quarterback Kirk Cousins.</p><p>Schefter began by <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-news-kyle-pitts-dealing-foot-injury-amid-trade-rumors">shedding some light on Pitts’ injury</a>, which has kept him out of practice.</p><p>“Well Atlanta’s a hot spot right now,” Schefter began. “We start with Kyle Pitts, who has not been practicing with what the Falcons say is an unspecified medical condition. That unspecified medical condition, I’m told, is a strained muscle in his foot. I may not have it exactly right, but I know that I am pretty close here based on what I was told. So he’s sitting out.”</p><p>It is still early in the offseason, so there is no reason to worry about Pitts’ availability for the 2025 season because of his foot injury.</p><p>That said, it <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-atlantas-kyle-pitts-asking-price-douses-trade-talks-cold-water">could be harder to trade Kyle Pitts</a> if he is currently injured.</p><h2><b>Adam Schefter also weighs in on trade rumors surrounding Falcons TE Kyle Pitts</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Kyle-Pitts.jpg"><figcaption>© Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>But <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/nfl-rumors-falcons-kyle-pitts-drawing-legitimate-trade-interest">is a Kyle Pitts trade even realistic?</a></p><p>Schefter also gave his take on the Kyle Pitts trade rumors that have circulating for the past week.</p><p>“There also have been teams that have approached the Falcons about trading for Kyle Pitts,” Schefter continued. “Now, I don’t think the Falcons are looking to deal him, but they’re not turning away the calls either. So if there were a team that were willing to give up enough to get him, I think that they could be enticed into trading the former [fourth overall pick] to another team.”</p><p>While Schefter admits it is possible that Pitts gets traded, he does not believe any team will be willing to acquire him.</p><p>“The issue there is he’s due $11 million in salary this year,” Schefter concluded. “And I don’t know that there are a whole lot of teams lining up to pay the Falcons what it would take, and to pay Kyle Pitts what it would take, when he is entering the final year of his rookie contract.”</p><p>At this point, the most likely outcome is that Pitts remains in Atlanta for the 2025 NFL season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

It would be a shocker if they’re able to get a Day 2 pick for Kyle Pitts in the final year of his contract with the money he is scheduled to make.”</p><p>The Falcons selected Pitts with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Meirov believes Atlanta’s front office will not give up on a player drafted with such a premium pick. Especially since he is still on a rookie contract.</p><p>“Just think about the Falcons for a second,” Meirov continued. “They’re not going to give up on a player they drafted fourth overall… for a Day 3 late pick. They’re holding Kirk Cousins hostage right now, who is making a lot of money, and they’re telling teams we want a pick plus you take on most of the money. It’s unclear how severe the injury is or how long Pitts will be out as he is dealing with a strained muscle, but it doesn’t sound like it will keep it him hindered for too long.</p><p>“While there has been speculation about his future in Atlanta, Falcons TE Kyle Pitts hasn’t been practicing at OTAs due to a strained muscle in his foot, per source,” Adam Schefter said in a post.</p><p>Kyle Pitts was one of the most-hyped TE prospects that the NFL has ever seen as his size and athleticism made him one of the best players in the country during his college days at Florida. The Falcons selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and after one season, it looked like that pick was going to pay off big time.</p><p>As a rookie, Pitts had a huge season. He hauled in 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and one touchdown. He didn’t find the end zone very often, but he was one of the top pass-catchers that the Falcons had. Since then, his touchdown numbers have gone up every year, but he hasn’t been able to replicate his other numbers.</p><p>Pitts only played in 10 games during his second season, so he obviously didn’t finish with close to as many receiving yards that year. However, his last two seasons have been complete, and he hasn’t looked like the player that he was during his rookie year.</p><p>Kyle Pitts finished with 667 receiving yards and three touchdowns during the 2023 seasonm, and he had 602 yards and four touchdowns last year. He has taken a step back, and that is a big reason why there are so many rumors about his future going around right now. He surpassed 1,000 yards and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, but he has disappointed ever since then, and fans have been waiting for a breakout campaign that may never come.</p><p>The Falcons are seemingly growing tired of Pitts’ inability to reach his potential. While injuries and ineffective quarterback play have been in part to blame for his failures, Pitts’ play in his own right has not met expectations. It is becoming less and less likely that the tight end will ever become a star in Atlanta.</p><p>The Falcons want to surround Michael Penix Jr. with weapons, but Pitts trailed Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Ray-Ray McCloud in catches last season. Tennessee offers Pitts one of the most likely homes to break out and reach his potential.</p><p>Although they struggled last season, the Titans’ future outlook is a lot brighter now that Ward will be under center. The rookie has a cannon for an arm, so the sky is the limit for what he can become. He still needs a boost of talent around him, though. Okonkwo shouldn’t be counted on to put up big numbers, but Pitts could operate as Ward’s security blanket.</p><p>His touchdown numbers, which have never met expectations, would likely increase with a deep-ball thrower such as Ward feeding him the ball. Pitts is a talented player, but he has not lived up to expectations since then.</p><p>Fans can argue about if his somewhat disappointing tenure in Atlanta can be blamed on poor quarterback play or disappointing personal performances, but the fact is that the tight end hasn’t produced to an acceptable level.</p><p>Now, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-atlanta-open-trading-kyle-pitts">Florida product has been in trade rumors</a>. Pitts is playing in the final year of his rookie deal, and a change of scenery seems inevitable eventually, whether it be via trade before the season or in free agency next offseason.</p><p>The tight end has an injury that prevents him from playing in voluntary OTAs, too. If <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/5-best-trade-destinations-for-falcons-kyle-pitts">the Falcons trade Pitts</a>, a deal with the Carolina Panthers would make sense.</p><h2><b>Panthers possible trade package for Kyle Pitts</b></h2><p><b>Falcons receive:</b> Third-round pick, sixth-round pick</p><p><b>Panthers receive:</b> Kyle Pitts</p><p>The Carolina Panthers are stacking up on weapons, and they should add Pitts to solidify their <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/ranking-all-32-nfl-teams-receiving-corps-2024-season">receiving corps</a>. The team wants to do everything they can to ensure that Bryce Young pans out. Carolina drafted the Alabama product first overall in 2023, but he looked like a massive draft bust early in his career.</p><p>The Panthers even <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/panthers-news-bench-bryce-young-andy-dalton-woeful-start">benched Young in favor of Andy Dalton</a> early last season. However, Young started to turn things around after the team reinserted him into the starting lineup. He was especially impressive during the last few weeks of the regular season, which has given the Panthers optimism that he can still live up to his potential.</p><p>Young quarterbacks need help, though, especially a signal-caller like Young, who is at a physical disadvantage. The team drafted receivers in the first round in each of the last two years.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/panthers-rumors-why-tetairoa-mcmillan-no-8-shock-nfl">The Panthers took Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall</a> this year, and the Panthers selected Xavier Legette 32nd overall last year. The team drafted Jonathan Brooks and Trevor Etienne to solidify the running back depth chart and further take the burden off of Young’s shoulders, too.</p><p>However, Tommy Tremble is still atop the depth chart at tight end. Tremble has just 85 career receptions through four seasons, including just 23 catches for 234 yards last year. The tight end position is the ultimate security blanket for young quarterbacks, and Pitts would be a perfect fit and a player who could break out with the team.</p><p>The Falcons drafted Pitts the same year as Tremble. Although he hasn’t lived up to expectations, he does have a Pro Bowl nod to his name and 196 catches for 602 yards throughout his career. Pitts is an athletic freak and a gifted route runner, so he has the potential to still become one of the best tight ends in the league. He showed this during a 1,000-yard-plus rookie campaign.</p><p>While it would be worrisome to some that Pitts ends up another team with suspect quarterback play in this deal, Young is on the right trajectory.</p><p>The Panthers took him first overall for a reason, and a Pitts trade would give the Panthers a quarterback, receiver, and tight end who were all drafted inside of the top 10 in recent years. That is a lot of young firepower for a team trying to regain relevancy.</p><h2><b>Should the Falcons trade Kyle Pitts?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/747443941-kyle-pitts-panthers.jpg"><figcaption>Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The potential of Pitts turning things around might hold greater value for the Falcons than Pitts’ actual trade value is. Then again, fans have been holding out hopes that the tight end will finally break out for years now.</p><p>It is unclear if Pitts’ injury, which the Falcons haven’t disclosed, is a serious injury that can affect him this season or if the team is holding him out and searching for a trade.</p><p>Either way, it isn’t a good sign for Pitts’ future in Atlanta. The Falcons are going in a new direction as a franchise, evidenced by their decision to start Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback. That leaves <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-atlanta-accused-being-stubborn-kirk-cousins">Kirk Cousins with an unclear future</a>, too, so the Falcons might get busy in the trade market ahead of the 2025 season.</p><p>A third-round pick seems like a disappointing return for a player who was recently drafted higher than any other player at his position ever. In reality, though, Pitts’ production has been underwhelming, and his trade value likely won’t increase over time.</p><p>The Falcons are going to force-feed Bijan Robinson the ball, and Darnell Mooney and Drake London could be in line for more targets than Pitts this season. Both of those receivers, as well as Ray-Ray McCloud, caught more balls than Pitts did last season.</p><p>At some point, the Falcons might just have to cut their losses, and if they don’t soon, then they risk losing Pitts in free agency next offseason. The tight end has talent, so he likely would want to find a new home where his skill set could be utilized better.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Atlanta Falcons have become open to trade the tight end. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-atlanta-open-trading-kyle-pitts">Pitts’ name officially emerged in the trade market Monday</a>.</p><p>ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler <a href="https://x.com/ESPNNFL/status/1929640986881196520" rel="noopener">fueled the trade rumors</a> during his appearance on NFL Live. Atlanta is losing one of its top five draft picks and a past Pro Bowler by going this route.</p><p>“They won’t force the issue, but as one source told me, if there’s a good enough offer, this will probably get done,” Fowler shared. He included that Pitts himself isn’t demanding to be traded.</p><p>Pitts broke out as a 1,000-yard performer his rookie season. But has failed to recapture that form since then. Granted, Pitts played through an unstable QB room throughout his young career. He wound up catching passes from six different quarterbacks from 2021 to 2024 — including Matt Ryan and last season’s starters Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr.</p><p>The ultra-athletic TE will likely entertain playing for a contender. Especially one with stellar QB play in place. Time to sort through five suitors for Pitts, including what it would likely take to land him.</p><h2><b>Falcons send Kyle Pitts to Chargers </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Kyle-Pitts-vs.-Vikings.jpg"><figcaption>Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Pitts increases the Chargers’ chances of toppling the Kansas City Chiefs by coming here.</p><p>Will Dissly isn’t a bad starter for L.A. He’s fresh off delivering new career-highs under Harbaugh. But he’s more for run blocking versus stretching the field.</p><p>Pitts can stretch the field. Plus give Harbaugh a big downfield threat next to Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and newcomer Tre Harris.</p><p>The Falcons may not command a first rounder in this move. Perhaps Atlanta will entertain gaining the Bolts’ 2026 third rounder, plus include ’26 free agent TE Tyler Conklin to help sweeten this deal. Or even look and see if guard Trey Pipkins (another ’26 UFA) can be added. That way Penix gains a reliable blocker up front if this move gets made.</p><h2><b>Falcons’ Kyle Pitts to Chiefs </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Kyle-Pitts-prepares-for-a-game-against-the-New-York-Giants.jpg"><figcaption>© Brett Davis-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>No this isn’t Kansas City pushing Travis Kelce off to the side. However, K.C. must think long term at the TE position. Kelce is dealing with father time.</p><p>Andy Reid likely will fawn over Pitts’ uncanny athleticism in his offense. Pitts, meanwhile, has got to love the Chiefs’ tradition of stellar TE play — dating back to Tony Gonzalez.</p><p>Noah Gray proved to be reliable in moments Kelce was unavailable. Gray can earn a fresh start in the ATL if K.C. can work a deal to land Pitts. Atlanta can even entertain adding one of the Chiefs’ fourth rounders (they hold two thanks to the Joe Thuney trade with the Bears) to seal this potential move.</p><h2>Pitts to Eagles</h2><p>Even the reigning Super Bowl champs look like an enticing place for Pitts.</p><p>Like the Chiefs, Philly has its own aging TE in Dallas Goedert. The Eagles also failed to find a trade partner during the start of free agency and during the draft.</p><p>The NFC South franchise presents a solid destination for the Super Bowl winning TE. Goedert can play with another past Heisman Trophy finalist in Penix while adding needed veteran leadership to the offense. The champs then get more explosive by adding Pitts.</p><h2><b>Pitts to Commanders </b></h2><p>We’re staying with the theme of Pitts establishing himself as a long term replacement for a veteran. And Washington has its own nearing the end.</p><p>Zach Ertz opted to return to the NFC title game runner up. The past Super Bowl winner delivered his best season since his Pro Bowl campaign of 2019. But he’ll be 35 during the season.</p><p>Washington, however, is tied for having the fewest draft picks for the 2026 class. The front office may want to pivot to 2027 or see if they can gain an extra ’26 pick in a Pitts deal. Likely for day three of the draft.</p><p>We’ll throw in this scenario: Commanders head coach Dan Quinn never got the chance to coach Pitts in Atlanta. He can make up for it here.</p><h2><b>Pitts to Steelers </b></h2><p>Weapons are needed in the Steel City. Not just a future QB.</p><p>Cousins and Pitts together could form a package to Pittsburgh. Atlanta never released its 2024 QB signing on June 1. They won’t force the issue, but as one source told me, if there’s a good enough offer, this will probably get done. Kyle Pitts is not requesting a trade. I’m told he’s open to staying in Atlanta, so it’s nothing of that matter. However, Schultz reported that it would take at least a Day 2 pick to spark serious trade talks.</p><p>This lines up with rumors before the 2025 NFL Draft that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-rumors-kyle-pitts-could-garner-day-2-nfl-draft-pick-trade">suggested the Falcons could get a Day 2 pick for Pitts</a>.</p><p>Pitts has been a disappointment for the Falcons after being <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/atlanta-falcons-2021-nfl-draft-grades-for-every-pick">selected fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft</a>. Atlanta had high hopes for the dynamic tight end/wide receiver hybrid.</p><p>Pitts started his professional career with a solid rookie campaign. He logged 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and one touchdown during his rookie season. The rationale being that star players are rarely traded within the same conference, if it can be prevented.</p><p>That leaves a handful of intriguing AFC teams.</p><p>The Jets spring to mind as one example. New York has a lack of talent at the position and could use another weapon for Justin Fields. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-york-jets/grading-jets-falcons-kyle-pitts-trade-proposal">ESPN even mocked Pitts to the Jets</a> in a pre-draft trade back in April.</p><p>Denver and Indianapolis could also make intriguing landing spots. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/story/_/id/44427621/2025-nfl-mock-draft-all-trades-deals-32-round-1-picks-players-parsons-cousins" rel="noopener">cooked up some fake</a> NFL Draft trades, including one that sends Kyle Pitts to the New York Jets. Who won this fake deal, and is it one they should pull off?</p><p>The trade sends the seventh overall pick and a 2026 third-rounder to the Atlanta Falcons for Pitts and the 15th overall pick. Pitts had that promise when he came into the league in 2021, but he has not lived up to that in his NFL career. The thought process is right for the Jets, get <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/jets-news-justin-fields-40-million-contract-free-agency">solid offensive players around Justin Fields</a> and eventually a rookie, but Pitts is not the right guy.</p><p>Giving up a third-round pick in 2026 is essentially like the Eagles or Chiefs giving up a second-rounder. The Jets will be near the top of the draft next year and be picking near the top of that third round. But if Pitts blossoms into what he was promised, that is a low price to pay.</p><p>Moving down eight spots in what is being considered a weak NFL Draft is a tough sell for a team in desperate need of talent. They could use that third-round pick in a different trade and stay at number seven if that is the path they wanted to go. They could also draft Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at number seven. Pitts may not be that valuable to the Jets, who should be looking to save money to sign Wilson and Gardner. This would add another expiring rookie deal to their cap sheet.</p><p><b>Jets grade: C+</b></p><h2><b>A head-scratcher for the Falcons</b></h2><p>The Atlanta Falcons are looking to trade Kirk Cousins and could potentially cut him after June 1 to make Michael Penix Jr their starter. Trading away a pass-catcher with upside when trying to develop a second-year quarterback is nonsensical. Yes, Pitts has not been the talent they were hoping for when they picked him fourth. But he is still a solid option holding down an important spot on the depth chart.</p><p>The Falcons have plenty of needs, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They can move up in the draft to take Mason Graham or Jalon Walker if they want to, but should not create other needs to do so. This would create a need that not even a breakout Drake London season could solve.</p><p>The third-round pick is a nice pickup, especially considering they may have to attach a pick to get rid of Cousins. But none of this is worth it. If they want to let Pitts walk in free agency after the season, they can do that. But not giving him a chance to succeed with Penix is selling the asset at its lowest.</p><p><b>Falcons grade: D+</b></p><h2><b>Final Kyle Pitts trade thoughts</b></h2><p>This is not a wise move for either side. If Pitts does blossom into a star, the Falcons will live to regret this deal. The Jets need to take the best player they can get their hands on at the 2025 NFL Draft.
