He quickly emerged as a fixture in the Cowboys’ secondary, appearing in 16 games in 2021 before starting six games last season. Hooker finished the 2022 campaign with three interceptions, three passes defensed, 62 tackles and two tackles for loss.</p><p>The 27-year-old has been a standout early in Cowboys training camp, helping set the tone for a defense that could be among football’s best. As <a href="https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/nfl/dallas-cowboys/article248263270.html" rel="noopener">Stefan Stevenson of Fort Worth Star-Telegram</a> noted, the Cowboys allowed 473 points (the most in franchise history) and 6,183 yards (second-most all-time in the team). <i>Yikes!</i></p><p>With that said, Dallas really need every help they can get to address the issue. And that’s where Malik Hooker comes in.</p><p>While it’s still uncertain if Hooker can quickly make an impact to the Cowboys after his season-ending Achilles injury, there’s no doubt his skillset will be a valuable addition to the tea. At also only 25 years old, there’s a good opportunity for him to bounce back and show everyone in the NFL what he can do.</p><p>Prior to his disappointing injury, Hooker has actually shown flashes of brilliance with the Indianapolis Colts. In 35 games played throughout his career, he has already recorded 124 tackles and seven interceptions–including three in his rookie season.</p><p>Of course, another concern for Hooker is his ability to stay healthy since he is yet to complete a full 16-game season.
