After a difficult 27-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/matt-lafleurs-matt-eberflus-esque-coaching-cost-packers-vs-bears">Packers took a stunning 24-22 loss to the Chicago Bears</a> in Week 18.</p><p>During that Bears game, the Packers suffered a litany of key injuries. First, wide receiver <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-christian-watson-feared-suffered-torn-acl-in-week-18-loss-to-bears">Christian Watson went down with a non-contact knee injury</a> that ended up being a torn ACL that will force him to miss the rest of the season. Shortly after, that, quarterback Jordan Love went down with a right elbow injury that kept him out for the rest of the game. Backup quarterback Malik Willis also picked up a thumb injury during the loss.</p><p><b><i>For insight on the Packers’ playoff matchup with the Eagles, listen below:</i></b></p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>On Wednesday, the Packers got an <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1877131340010680803" rel="noopener">uncertain injury update</a> on both of their quarterbacks ahead of their Wild Card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.</p><p>“Packers QB Jordan Love (right elbow) was officially a limited participant in practice today — and so was backup QB Malik Willis (right thumb),” Pelissero reported on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>The big news is of course surrounding Love, who is one of the main pieces that makes this Packers offense a very difficult unit to stop when he has it going. During Sunday’s game, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-jordan-love-christian-watson-exit-bears-game-injuries">Love was seen on the sidelines trying to grip the football</a> and throw on the sidelines but wasn’t feeling good enough to come back in the game.</p><p>The Packers were forced to start Willis for two games this season, so Matt LaFleur and company have shown that they can handle a game plan centered around him. However, those game plans mostly included running the ball over and over and over and being somewhat one-dimensional, which would make it very difficult to move the ball against an elite Eagles defense.</p><p>Having Love in the lineup would give the Packers a puncher’s chance to pull the upset in Philadelphia. Green Bay moved the ball pretty well against the Eagles during their Week 1 meeting in Brazil, and the explosiveness that this Packers team has in the passing game gets taken to another level with Love in the lineup. Malik Willis has started under center for the last two games, but <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-jordan-love-jaire-alexander-officially-questionable-for-week-4">Jordan Love has an outside chance</a> of suiting up ahead of his initial timetable. Love is currently listed as questionable with a knee injury.</p><p>After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, the Packers have been forced to try and win games without their true offensive leader. They’ve done a fair job to this point, sitting at 2-1 as they prepare to swipe the NFC North’s top spot from the rival Vikings.</p><p>The Packers have gotten everything that they’ve needed out of Willis across two games. He’s seamlessly adapted to the offense, boasting the best passer rating (122.7) of his young career with 25 completions on 34 attempts for 324 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.</p><p>Love, however, is the team’s clear starter. If he’s able to give it a go on Sunday, then the Packers need to play him. The connection between him and his receivers in the passing attack against the Eagles in Brazil looked too inviting, so how will the Packers move forward without thwarting their recent momentum? After getting a few limited practices in this week, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-jordan-love-practice-update-fans-hoping-week-4-return">Love’s status is wide open for the Vikings</a> game.</p><h2><b>Packers’ game plan for Malik Willis and Jordan Love in Week 4</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Malik-Willis-2.jpg"><figcaption>Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Head coach Matt LaFleur looks like an expert at making adjustments thus far in the 2024-25 campaign. He’s been able to drum up creative ideas on how to maximize his talent, despite his squad’s early misfortune. It should be interesting to see if he can bring similar ideas to the table with his talented QBs.</p><p>To everyone’s surprise, the Packers have an unlikely, and ironic advantage against their Minnesota opponent in Week 4. Love is <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5800719/2024/09/28/nfl-week-4-jordan-love-injury-malik-willis-travis-kelce-problems-caleb-williams-bryce-young-comparisons/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=twhq&amp;source=twitterhq" rel="noopener">progressing faster than expected</a>, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, but the goal was always to have him play in this crucial game against the Vikings. While Love won’t be at full health if he does hit the field on Sunday, LaFleur will still possibly use Willis in a package to keep the Vikings guessing.</p><p>As many NFL coordinators know, it’s hard enough to prepare for one quarterback all week – never mind a second.</p><p>Thanks to Willis’ rushing prowess, he may also find himself taking snaps in short-yardage scenarios. We’ll have to continue monitoring Love’s status until the 1 PM ET kickoff on September 29, but we can continue to dream up more potential ideas for the Packers’ offense when both players are available.</p><p> </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Four weeks into being with the Packers, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-1-malik-willis-reason-for-optimism">Willis has already won two games</a> as Green Bay’s starting quarterback. In those two games, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-malik-willis-reacts-to-revenge-win-over-titans">Willis has stepped up</a> in the absence of Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love. Willis has more than exceeded expectations in an incredibly brief time. So much so that head coach Matt LaFleur <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/matt-lafleur-ive-never-seen-anything-like-what-malik-willis-has-done" rel="noopener">was at a loss for words</a> when discussing Willis’s impact.</p><p>“I just cannot articulate the job that he’s done in a short period of time,” said LaFleur. “People can’t fathom that. I promise you, you guys don’t get it. I know you think you got it, but you don’t get it. What he’s been able to do, I’ve never seen something like this.”</p><p>Willis, the Titans’ 2022 third-round pick they didn’t even want as their backup quarterback this season, completed 13-of-19 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown while running six times for 73 yards and a score. The loss was particularly humiliating for the Titans and their fans since the quarterback they traded for a seventh-round pick last month was a big reason why the Packers won so convincingly.</p><h2><b>How great has Malik Willis been for the Packers?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Malik-Willis-run-Packers-Titans.jpg"><figcaption>Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Willis has proven he’s much more on the field than the failed project in Tennessee. In his first start against the Colts, Willis remained conservative with his arm save for one deep shot that wide receiver Romeo Doubs brilliantly snatched. Still, he showed promise with his legs and smoothly operated an offense with lengthy play calls, motions, and shifts.</p><p>Against the Titans, Willis showed that he can let it rip a little more. He uncorked a deep ball down the right sideline on the opening drive that Christian Watson hauled in for a 30-yard gain to set up Willis’ touchdown run on a keeper. He zipped completions to Romeo Doubs and Watson to convert third-and-14 and third-and-18, respectively. Willis ran even more against his old team, selling option plays beautifully and protecting the rock while being evasive.</p><p>“He made some big-time plays throughout the course of the game,” LaFleur said. “I think, obviously, some plays with his legs were huge and also plays in the passing game, some of those third down-and-longs to make some of those completions down the field.</p><p>“He’s getting the ball, he’s reading the plays the right way, he’s making some off-schedule plays with his legs that were very critical. … Hats off to him. Hats off to everybody around him, guys rallying, having his back. I think (quarterbacks coach) Tom Clements does a great job. And I’d be remiss to say (assistant quarterback coaches) Connor Lewis and Sean Mannion, just the help they’ve given him, the support. Jordan Love has been instrumental, as well, giving him tips, hanging right by his side, and helping him out all along the way.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
