He explained that he’s not letting last season’s mistake cloud his judgment in 2025.</p><p>“At the end of the day, this is a new season,” Andrews said Wednesday, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “It’s two really good teams going against each other. I’m going to play my part, I’m going to do my job to the best of my ability, which I’m excited about. This is my whole entire world. The Ravens general manager gave a murky update on trade rumors involving the tight end.</p><p>Ravens GM Eric DeCosta <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44686966/baltimore-ravens-gm-eric-decosta-noncommittal-te-mark-andrews-ahead-nfl-draft" rel="noopener">didn’t commit either way</a> when asked about Andrews, according to espn.com.</p><p>“I never know what’s going to happen,” DeCosta said. “And I would never want to say this or that. But, I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior. He’s played his butt off for us.”</p><h2><b>Ravens TE Mark Andrews fighting uphill battle?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Baltimore-Ravens-TE-Mark-Andrews.jpg"><figcaption>Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Will it be difficult for Andrews to remain with the team? Fans tend to have a long memory, and the 2-point conversion drop with the Ravens trailing 27-25 to the Buffalo Bills — with 1:33 left in the game — likely remains in their minds.</p><p>The seven-year veteran is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. The most recent came in 2022. He had an All-Pro season in 2021 with 107 catches for 1,361 yards and nine scores. Andrews ranks third in franchise history with 436 receptions and second with 5,530 yards receiving. Both of those records will likely fall this year if he remains in Baltimore. Last year, Andrews surpassed Jamal Lewis as the Ravens’ all-time touchdown leader and has 51 overall.</p><p>“His competitiveness, his talent, his attitude, his leadership is so valued here,” DeCosta said. “He’s a great player. And I think we’re in the business of keeping as many great players as we can. So, there’s always a lot of unpredictability with the draft. You just never know.”</p><p>The presence of Isaiah Likely gives the Ravens the flexibility to trade Andrews. However, head coach John Harbaugh remains in his corner.</p><p>“I do fully expect him to be playing for us next year,” Harbaugh said recently. “He’s just too good a player.”</p><p>The Ravens own 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, so they can remodel their roster. They have two fourth-round picks and four sixth-round selections. Their <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6232970/2025/04/11/baltimore-ravens-2025-nfl-draft-picks-needs-predictions-guide/" rel="noopener">main areas of need</a> are edge rusher and defensive back, according to nytimes.com.</p><p>“(Edge rusher) is certainly a prominent need for the future,” Jeff Zrebiec wrote. “Finding another impactful pass rusher would help quite a bit in the present, too. (Also,) Baltimore has only five corners and three safeties on its roster, so reinforcements are needed. The Chargers won 11 games during the regular season and made to the playoffs. They accomplish all of this with a talent-poor roster that was in salary cap hell after the previous regime.</p><p>As a result, Chargers fans have plenty of reasons for optimism about the future.</p><p>The Chargers have already made some solid moves during NFL free agency. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/chargers-news-rb-najee-harris-puts-steelers-on-blast">Los Angeles brought in several roleplayers, including Najee Harris</a> and Benjamin St-Juste. They also rebuilt their offensive line by adding Mekhi Becton and Andre James.</p><p>These moves have helped fill out the depth throughout the roster. However, the Chargers need to start making some upgrades if they want to become a contending team in the AFC.</p><p>Los Angeles will also get a lot better after the 2025 NFL Draft. They have 10 total selections, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/2025-nfl-draft-order-prospects-targets">including the 22nd overall pick</a>.</p><p>The Chargers should also consider improving the team with trades. If LA adds enough talented players in one offseason, especially those who have been there and done that, they could take a huge leap forward in 2025.</p><p>But who could LA target in a trade?</p><p>Below we will explore one trade package that ESPN’s Bill Barnwell recommends the Chargers send to the Ravens to acquire tight end Mark Andrews.</p><h2><b>Bill Barnwell suggests Chargers make aggressive trade proposal for Mark Andrews</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Mark-Andrews-of-the-Ravens.jpg"><figcaption>Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Here are the terms of Barnwell’s proposed trade before we dive into any analysis.</p><p><b>Chargers receive: </b></p><ul><li>TE Mark Andrews</li><li>2025 first-round pick (27th overall)</li><li>2025 fourth-round pick (136th overall)</li></ul><p><b>Ravens receive: </b></p><ul><li>G Zion Johnson</li><li>2025 first-round pick (22nd overall)</li></ul><p>This hypothetical trade must be music to the ears of Chargers fans.</p><p>Jim Harbaugh loves to run the football and set up play-action passes off the back of it. The Chargers have an okay tight end room at the moment (Will Dissly, Tyler Conklin) but they could really use an upgrade, especially as a pass catcher. That’s where Andrews comes in.</p><p>The perception on Mark Andrews is lower than it has been in quite some time.</p><p>Andrews had a solid 2024 campaign, hauling in 55 receptions for 673 yards and 11 touchdowns. This was the most touchdowns of Andrews’ career, but he did see his role in Baltimore’s offense diminish slightly.</p><p>There are a few reasons why Andrews’ production slipped. One was the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/grading-derrick-henrys-2-year-16-million-contract-with-ravens">addition of RB Derrick Henry to Baltimore’s offense</a>. Naturally, when you acquire a player like Henry, you want to give him the ball whenever you can. It is obvious that Henry stole touches from multiple Ravens players, including Andrews.</p><p>The other main reason could be competition with fellow tight end Isaiah Likely. Andrews was the unquestioned top tight end in Baltimore over the past few seasons. However, Likely had a career season that mixes things up quite a bit.</p><p>Likely hauled in 42 receptions for 477 yards and six touchdowns.</p><p>It feels inevitable that Likely will eventually overtake Andrews for the top tight end spot in Baltimore.</p><p>As a result, the Ravens may view Andrews as a movable asset.</p><p>Zion Johnson is an interesting part of this trade.</p><p>Johnson may mean much more to the Ravens than he does to the Chargers. As a result, he would be an important piece in this hypothetical trade.</p><p>“The Chargers, meanwhile, have prioritized their offensive line under both the Hortiz and Tom Telesco regimes, but Johnson hasn’t lived up to expectations,” Barnwell explained. “The 2022 first-round pick has been average in his career, and there are real questions about whether L.A. will want to pick up his fifth-year option, which would guarantee him $17.6 million in 2026. Andrews is the more prominent player, but Johnson might be equally as desirable given his youth and the recent positional importance of guards.”</p><p>The Ravens do need to upgrade their offensive line, especially on the interior. Andrew Vorhees and Daniel Faalele are useful pieces, but there is hardly anyone behind them to provide depth.</p><p>If Baltimore added Johnson, they would gain a talented depth player at worst. However, Johnson has the upside necessary to potentially win a starting spot in training camp. His long-term contract situation is not ideal, but he could be a valuable patch for 2025 with some future upside.</p><p>If this trade actually happened, I’d expect it to occur during the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>It is difficult to anticipate how much of a difference five spots in the first round can make before the draft. However, once players start flying off the board, it could make the difference between landing a star player and missing out on him.</p><p>Perhaps the Chargers and Ravens could agree in principle to the terms of a trade and then pull the trigger on draft day if the right opportunity presents itself.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

It was like an RPO play, so I couldn’t really throw the ball to [Isaiah] Likely [because] the offensive line was down the field, so I tried to make something happen, tried to squeeze the ball. It slipped out of my hand, [and the Bills] picked it up, got some yards that I think lead to points for them, so it’s a team effort out there,” Jackson told reporters.</p><p>“[Mark Andrews has] been busting his behind. He’s been making plays out on that field for us. [We] came up short, and like I’ve been saying all season, every time we’re in situations like this, turnovers play a factor. Penalties play a factor. Lamar Jackson <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43487667/baltimore-ravens-refuse-blame-mark-andrews-27-25-loss" rel="noopener">took some blame</a> off of Andrews’ shoulders after the Ravens’ loss.</p><p>“I’m just as hurt as Mark,” Jackson told ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “[It’s not] his fault. All of us played a factor in that game. It’s a team effort. We’re not going to put that on Mark because he’s been battling all season.</p><p>Jackson continued, “He’s been doing all the great things he’s been doing all season. It [doesn’t] always go our way. Jackson had nine turnovers all season but had two miserable giveaways in the first half of this game. He put the ball on the turf on a Damar Hamlin sack and Von Miller flipped the field and changed the game.</p><p>Much of the offseason conversation will be about improving the Ravens’ defense after they took a step back this year. Even though they stepped up in the second half, they struggled at points and will get reinforcements. Bringing Derrick Henry back will be key, as he is an unrestricted free agent. The Ravens got the ball down five points with over 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. After they picked up a first down, Lamar Jackson hit Andrews for a big gain. But the tight end fumbled and Terrell Bernard jumped on the ball.</p><p>But the Ravens’ defense and Jackson bailed out Andrews with just over three minutes to go. The Bills kicked a field goal to push the deficit to eight and Jackson took advantage. After ripping down the field, the Ravens tried their second two-point conversion of the game. The tight ends combined for 80 receiving yards against the Steelers as their top two receivers. Likely led them in yards again with 73 and Andrews did have 61 yards on five catches.</p><p>But even with his solid box score, Andrews was disappointing in this game. If he holds onto the fumble earlier in the fourth quarter, he may not have needed to catch the two-point conversion. But given a chance to redeem himself, he could not do it to force overtime.</p><p>The Ravens lost the AFC Championship Game last year after Zay Flowers fumbled on the goal line. While there were other aspects to that loss, it will be remembered as the Zay Flowers game. This will likely happen with this loss for Mark Andrews, as the dropped conversion will be the lasting image from this loss.</p><p>The Bills head to Kansas City for the AFC Championship Game and their fourth playoff matchup. And Baltimore could be forced to lean even more on Andrews in the Divisional round as top wideout <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-zay-flowers-trending-wrong-direction-bills-clash">Zay Flowers remains sidelined</a> with a knee injury and is in danger of missing the contest.</p><p>Both the Ravens and the Bills enjoyed near incomprehensible time of possession advantages in their first-round wins. Baltimore possessed the ball for 39 minutes and 33 seconds while Buffalo managed to keep the ball for an astounding 41 minutes and 43 seconds.</p><p>Fans are almost certainly in for a fun, physical matchup featuring two of the best quarterbacks in the league. During the 35-14 stomping, the Ravens made some franchise history as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-mark-andrews-eclipses-jamal-lewis-record-giants">Mark Andrews became the team’s all-time touchdown leader</a>.</p><p>Andrews hauled in a 13-yard pass from Lamar Jackson in the first quarter to give the team an early 7-0 lead. The reception also gave Andrews 48 career touchdowns, which broke Jamal Lewis’ long-standing record of 47.</p><p>While Andrews wasn’t necessarily thinking about the record when he made the catch, he <a href="https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/transcripts-press-conference-ravens-at-giants-week-15" rel="noopener">acknowledged the accomplishment</a> after the game. “Well, it’s a blessing… There are so many people that have helped throughout the way, and the guys that have contributed and that I’ve played with, I’m thankful for, and this organization. I’m just extremely thankful and blessed and just using it as fuel for the fire. I want to continue to get better, continue to grow throughout this year and get to where we need to go,” Andrews said, per a press conference transcript provided by the Ravens Media Center.</p><p>While the seventh-year veteran hasn’t been able to duplicate the remarkable success of his first-team All-Pro season in 2021 when he had 107 receptions for 1,361 yards and nine touchdowns, Andrews is still a key component of the Ravens’ potent offense – particularly in the red zone.</p><h2><b>Mark Andrews stands alone as the Ravens’ all-time touchdown leader</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Mark-Andrews.jpg"><figcaption>Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>In 14 games this season, he has 45 catches for 514 yards and eight scores. They make route adjustments that are not always in the playbook. They make the kind of adjustment that you make because you’ve been playing together for so long. All these reps, and they continue to do it, and a lot of those touchdown passes are those two guys just having that chemistry,” Harbaugh said, per a press conference transcript.</p><p>With the win over the Giants the Ravens improved to 9-5. While the team hasn’t officially locked up a playoff spot just yet, they currently have the first Wild Card berth. And Baltimore is just one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.
