However, Dak Prescott finally broke his silence on the Cowboys’ contract talks with Parsons.</p><p>Prescott has a good perspective because he did this same dance with the Cowboys last year. Prescott also participated in offseason work before landing his four-year extension before the first game of the regular season.</p><p>But Prescott said he didn’t have <a href="https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/dak-prescott-advises-micah-parsons-to-stay-positive-in-contract-talks-with-cowboys" rel="noopener">any sage advice</a> for Parsons, according to dallascowboys.com.</p><p>“I don’t have the full answer for it or I think all of mine would’ve been done a lot earlier than they were,” Prescott said, via the team’s website. “For him, just stay positive. And that’s in being a leader.”</p><p>Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the best may be <a href="https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/jerry-jones-micah-parsons-have-agreed-on-most-contract-details-still-work-to-do" rel="noopener">yet to come</a> for Parsons, according to dallascowboys.com.</p><p>“In every aspect of Micah, he’s got great potential to do more,” Jones said. “Every aspect, whether it be in my mind physically or from the standpoint of physically, he has a lot of potential and he is so capable mentally that he could make us all follow him a little bit.</p><p>“I think he’s that kind of individual and that kind of person. But I will tell you that those are the kinds of things that I want to personally have total and complete satisfaction that I’ve got a commitment from him, and that I can see that it’s not just contract talk.”</p><p>Jones said the talks remain a work in progress.</p><p>“I’m the one who has to sign the check and Micah’s the one that has to agree to it,” Jones said. “That’s the straightest way to get there is the one writing the check and the one agreeing to it talking, and that’s the principle that’s involved here.</p><p>“I don’t view it as urgent at all,” Jones said of coming to an agreement with Parsons. “Some say using the basis that the earlier you get something done the cheaper, well the earlier you get something done, a lot of times the more mistakes you make. Heading into his first season as the Cowboys’ head coach, Brian Schottenheimer expects Parsons to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44671167/source-micah-parsons-present-cowboys-open-offseason-program" rel="noopener">show up for voluntary sessions</a>.</p><p>“I feel very comfortable. Micah said he’s going to be around. I think that he wants to be,” Schottenheimer said via ESPN. “I think we’re all very comfortable with that. And at the end of the day, he’s a great player and we think he’s just getting started, to be honest with you. I have no question in my mind that he’ll be around.”</p><p>The two sides are determined to get the contract discussions out of the way before the season begins. Parsons, as well as quarterback <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cowboys-dak-prescott-expresses-excitement-brian-schottenheimer-era">Dak Prescott, are excited for the Schottenheimer era</a> in Dallas.</p><h2><b>Cowboys’ Dak Prescott getting close to return</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/unnamed-2_3ad95a.jpg"><figcaption>Bob Donnan-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>With offseason work beginning to ramp up, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is <a href="https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/dak-prescott-where-he-wants-to-be-in-recovery-process-looks-forward-to-new-qb-room" rel="noopener">making progress in his recovery</a>.</p><p>“I’m getting close to where I want to be, I don’t want to put a percentage on it,” Prescott said of his hamstring at the 35 annual Children’s Cancer Fund gala via Cowboys.com. “I know we’ve got team activities coming up, imagine myself being involved in some sort if not all.</p><p>This is not Prescott’s first time dealing with recovering from an injury, but he knows he has a lot of good football in front of him still.</p><p>“It’s just the work that I’ve put into it, unfortunately I’ve been through this process of recovering from injuries before that I embrace it,” Prescott said. “I know that a better version of me is on the other side, so that’s just the way that I’ve approached this whole offseason and this whole rehab process.”</p><p>Prescott has confidence in the progress he has made, feeling confident that he could suit up for the team today if needed.</p><p>“If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that,” Prescott said. “It’s about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 times, 20 [games], whatever we get to when the time’s right.”</p><p>Prescott has been keeping himself busy while recovering, staying involved with various charitable functions.</p><p>“They want to be doctors, they want to be teachers, they want to be the future quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, and I’m here to tell them that they can be,” Prescott said. “They can make their adversity their strength, and it’s just a blessing to be a part of this.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

One Cowboys star was furious about the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/tennessee-football-news-volunteers-coach-brutally-honest-nico-iamaleava-drama">latest NIL drama</a> in the college football world.</p><p>Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons <a href="https://x.com/MicahhParsons11/status/1910791295540289567" rel="noopener">was not happy</a> about Nico Iamaleava’s decision to hold out of Tennessee’s spring practice.</p><p>“College football a joke now,” Parsons posted on social media on Friday. “Yall minds well just make college into a semi pro league! Actually hold players accountable to the contracts they sign!”</p><p>Iamaleava decided to hold out of spring practice with the Volunteers because he was seeking an NIL deal worth roughly $4 million per season.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/tennessee-football-news-volunteers-coach-brutally-honest-nico-iamaleava-drama">Tennessee has since announced that is has parted ways with Iamaleava</a> as a result of his no-show at spring practice. The Volunteers will look to the transfer portal to find their next quarterback. Meanwhile, Iamaleava will enter the transfer portal himself, where he will seek to get a new NIL deal with his next team.</p><p>It makes sense that Parsons of all players would be frustrated with the current state of NIL in college football.</p><p>The NCAA adopted NIL in the summer of 2021. This decision came out just a few months after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/meet-the-dallas-cowboys-2021-nfl-draft-class">Parsons was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round</a> of the 2021 NFL Draft.</p><p>Therefore, Parsons just barely missed out on earning money during his collegiate career at Penn State.</p><p>At least Parsons can look forward to a big pay day in the near future.</p><h2><b>Micah Parsons is due for his own pay day from the Cowboys in near future</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Micah-Parsons.jpg"><figcaption>Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Micah Parsons may not have benefitted from NIL money, but he is due a big pay day from the Cowboys.</p><p>Parsons is due a huge contract extension with the Cowboys in the near future. He will <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-picks-up-5th-year-option-micah-parsons-but-with-a-twist">play on the fifth-year option in 2025, which is worth $24 million</a>.</p><p>The Cowboys and Parsons have been in contract negotiations for quite a while now. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has even taken the unusual step of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-jerry-jones-historic-micah-parsons-contract-offer-twist">performing some negotiations directly with Parsons himself</a>. Parsons has noted that he will not sign a contract without his agent’s approval, which is good to hear.</p><p>Parsons’ value continues to rise as other top defensive players sign contract extensions. My point is, I’m not trying to demean him in any way, but this isn’t about an agent. While the two are similar, there are still some differences between the two.</p><p>Although <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/penn-state-footballs-abdul-carter-makes-simple-case-for-no-1-pick">Carter has been rumored to be the No. 1 pick</a>, there is good reason for it. For starters, he made a major leap in his junior season. He was named an All-American, as well as winning the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.</p><p>Secondly, Carter led the nation with 24 tackles for loss. Again, the Parsons and Carter comparisons are there, yet still different.</p><p>One assistant who squared off against Penn State football has <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6246631/2025/04/02/nfl-mock-draft-2025-bruce-feldman/?source=user_shared_article" rel="noopener">a different comparison</a> for the reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.</p><p>“He reminds me of Von Miller,” the coach said via Bruce Feldman of The Athletic. “He’s really bendy around the edge and such a speed rusher. He’s slippery enough to make your tackle completely whiff, and it’s a TFL. You hoped he slipped on that bad grass at Penn State.</p><p>“He’s a little different from Micah, who I think has more tenacity and physicality in his game and plays stronger. Abdul is much more bendy. Micah destroys people on the inside moves. He’ll shimmy, counter, and get inside, and that’s how you get sacks really quick. Abdul is really trying to win with speed around the edge.”</p><h2><b>Abdul Carter and Micah Parsons have lifted Penn State football</b></h2><p>Both linebackers were elite at their respective positions. While they technically played the same position, both were used very differently. Parsons was more used as a coverage linebacker and scanning the middle of the field.</p><p>He could still get to the quarterback, but his athleticism was best used in coverage. For Carter, it’s completely different. While the latter has shown promise in coverage, he excels in getting to the quarterback.</p><p>For instance, the Penn State football junior had 12 sacks, to go along with the <a href="https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/abdul-carter-1.html" rel="noopener">24 tackles for loss</a>. He’s able to break through the offensive line and be a key disruptor.</p><p>Still, being compared to Von Miller is not bad at all. He’s the Super Bowl L MVP, in addition to an All-Pro and multiple-time Pro Bowler.</p><p>No matter what happens, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/penn-state-football-news-abdul-carter-explains-why-best-player-2025-nfl-draft">Carter will still be the top linebacker</a> taken off of the board. At this point, it might be a matter of where he ends up that will be the question.</p><p>His skill set rivals someone like Miller. The latter won the 2011 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and has had an illustrious career. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-loses-demarcus-lawrence-seahawks-42-million-deal">franchise loss of DeMarcus Lawrence</a> has given the star linebacker a lot more leverage in contract negotiations. It is currently unclear whether Parsons, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, and the Cowboys will reach an extension over this offseason. Talks between the two parties <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jerry-jones-talking-directly-to-micah-parsons-straightest-way-to-deal" rel="noopener">have heated up</a> over the past few days, but Griffin III believes that the four-time Pro Bowler should be requesting a trade. The former Penn State standout has 52.5 sacks, 63 tackles for loss, and nine forced fumbles in four seasons in Dallas and is a perennial candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.</p><p>Parsons is currently on a club option that is a <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72392/micah-parsons" rel="noopener">little more than $24 million</a>. However, there is a decent chance that the 25-year-old might demand a contract for as much as $40 million annually. That is currently the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/grading-myles-garrett-160-million-browns-contract-extension-after-trade-request">contract of Browns defensive Myles Garrett</a>, who is four years older than Parsons, while the <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/cowboys-owner-jerry-jones-doesn-t-see-urgency-with-micah-parsons-extension-i-d-rather-pay-more-and-get-it-right#:~:text=Set%20to%20earn%20%2424.007%20million,quarterback%20at%20%2440.25%20million%20annually." rel="noopener">highest-paid non-quarterback</a> in the league is currently Jamar Chase at $40.25.</p><p>It is important to note that Parsons’ club option is a hindrance to the team’s current financial flexibility. The Cowboys subsequently restructured the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to add more cap space and will likely try to spread Parsons’ salary over a long period of time.</p><p>Overall though, Dallas needs to get this done. The franchise knows how important the three-time All-Pro is, and so does he. Not extending Parsons before letting Lawrence walk was not a wise move, and now really puts Jerry Jones behind the eight-ball in negotiations. For all intents and purposes, it does not look like Parsons will pay any attention to Robert Griffin III’s take. However, that does not mean the Cowboys can rest on their laurels during these negotiations. The deal would make Parsons the highest-paid nonquarterback in the NFL.</p><p>However, <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1907093108224844145" rel="noopener">there’s a “twist,”</a> as noted by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team: “The Cowboys conducted all negotiations without Parsons’ agent and haven’t communicated with him since the combine. Parsons will not sign without his agent’s approval (which is the smart move).”</p><p>Meirov then <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1907094489870508236" rel="noopener">gave extended thoughts</a> on Jones and the Cowboys’ approach to these negotiations: “Keeping it real: The Cowboys have used this approach before, pitching players on the appeal of playing for ‘America’s Team’ and building their brand to convince them to accept team-friendly deals with extra-long contracts—often 5, 6, or even 7 years instead of the usual 3 or 4. </p><p>“(This makes it much harder for players to secure another big contract down the line.) It has worked with some players and failed with others. And Brian Schottenheimer revealed Parsons’ message to the Cowboys <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1907041025849192914" rel="noopener">amid the contract talks</a>, according to a post on X by Jon Machota.</p><p>“I feel very comfortable,” Schottenheimer said. “Micah said he’s going to be around. I think that’s what he wants to be. I think we’re all very comfortable with that.”</p><p>Parsons has delivered four straight Pro Bowl seasons for the Cowboys. He totaled 13 — earning defensive rookie of the year — 13.5, 14, and 12 sacks over those years. And now it’s time for the Cowboys to back up the cash truck and unload green bills on Parson’s front lawn.</p><h2><b>Cowboys LB Micah Parsons is an NFL elite</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dallas-Cowboys-edge-rusher-Micah-Parsons.jpg"><figcaption>Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Cowboys know what Parsons brings to the field.</p><p>“At the end of the day, he’s a great player,” Schottenheimer said. “We think he’s just getting started to be honest. I have no question in my mind he’ll be around.”</p><p>But Parsons wants a big-time payday. He wants <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2025/03/28/cowboys-star-micah-parsons-wants-to-become-the-nfls-first-200-million-defensive-player/" rel="noopener">to cash up</a> in historical fashion, according to dallasnews.com.</p><p>“Micah Parsons is expected to ask for a $200 million contract extension that would become a record for a non-quarterback,” Calvin Watkins wrote. “The request is in line with making him among the highest-paid players at his position. This offseason, Myles Garrett signed a contract extension with the Browns worth $160 million, the most for an edge rusher.”</p><p>However, the high dollar amount complicates the situation, according to Schottenheimer.</p><p>“When you’re dealing with the money that’s tossed around, not just with Micah but with the big-name players, negotiations sometimes take time,” Schottenheimer said.</p><p>But the biggest problems the Cowboys face with Parsons are the contracts they have already doled out to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. This has led to the trade speculation that owner Jerry Jones didn’t completely squash near the end of last season, <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/will-the-cowboys-pay-micah-parsons-or-trade-him" rel="noopener">using the word</a> “usually,” according to nbcsports.com.</p><p>“Obviously we’re totally all in on Dak and CeeDee,” Jones said. “But after that, then you still shape things, including Micah. But Micah’s a great player. You don’t do well in this league letting guys like Micah, usually, leave the house.</p><p>“We love Micah. There could be <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/browns-gm-andrew-berry-makes-admission-on-potential-titans-trade">movement at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft</a>, and Dallas Cowboys’ star <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-feels-about-micah-parsons-contract-talks">Micah Parsons has also heard his name involved in trade rumors</a>. ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/story/_/id/44427621/2025-nfl-mock-draft-all-trades-deals-32-round-1-picks-players-parsons-cousins" rel="noopener">predicted a three-team trade</a> involving the Cowboys, the Atlanta Falcons, and the team with the second overall pick, the Cleveland Browns. Does this deal make sense for all three parties, though? Here are the trade grades for each team involved in this hypothetical deal.</p><h2><b>Three-team trade details</b></h2><p><b>Cowboys get:</b> 1-2 (from Browns), 1-15, 2026 third-round pick (from Falcons)</p><p><b>Browns get:</b> 1-12. 5-149. 2026 fourth-round pick (from Cowboys), 2026 first-round pick (from Falcons)</p><p><b>Falcons get:</b> Edge Micah Parsons</p><h2><b>Cowboys trade grade after dumping Micah Parsons</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Shedeur-Sanders-1.jpg"><figcaption>Joe Rondone-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>In this exercise, the Cowboys ship Parsons off to Atlanta. Departing with one of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/ranking-50-best-nfl-players-2024-season">best players in the NFL</a> would be no easy choice, but it might become a necessary one for the Cowboys. The four-time Pro Bowler could be in Defensive Player of the Year conversations for the next decade because he is only 25 years old.</p><p>However, the Cowboys have serious financial issues. CeeDee Lamb is one of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/highest-paid-non-quarterbacks-nfl-history">highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL</a>, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/10-biggest-contracts-nfl-history-according-to-total-value">Dak Prescott’s deal has a higher average annual value</a> than anybody else in the NFL. Parsons will need a megadeal, too, and the Cowboys might not be able to pay him it before he hits free agency in 2026.</p><p>Dallas can’t risk losing him for nothing, so if they could net a huge return for the edge rusher, then it would make a lot of sense to ship him off. There just so happens to be a Parsons replacement at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the number two overall pick the Cowboys receive from the Browns in this proposed trade, Dallas could select Abdul Carter.</p><p>Many consider the sack artist to be the best player in this draft class, and he has often been compared to Parsons for more reasons than just the fact that they both played their collegiate ball at Penn State. The Cowboys could also consider Shedeur Sanders with pick number two. Prescott’s hefty contract could incentivize the team to trade him, and there are ties to the Colorado quarterback because his coach/father, Deion Sanders, played for the Cowboys during his playing days. The elder<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-nick-saban-pumps-up-deion-sanders-dallas-rumors"> Sanders was even linked to Dallas</a> as a potential head coach before the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-hires-brian-schottenheimer-head-coach">promoted Brian Schottenheimer to that role</a>.</p><p>On top of that, the Cowboys would also get pick 15 and a future third-rounder from the Falcons. Dallas could add another building block piece with that second first-rounder. Having two potential stars on rookie deals would help Dallas’ cap situation monumentally. Another receiver, such as Tetairoa McMillan, Luther Burden, or Matthew Golden, could make sense with pick 15. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-rumors-dallas-prime-candidate-draft-ashton-jeanty-even-after-rb-addition">Cowboys have also been rumored to be interested in Ashton Jeanty</a>, and Jerry Jones snagging the top running back available would make a lot of sense.</p><p>Overall, there is no guarantee that prospects will come close to reaching the talent/production of Parsons, which makes this deal risky for the Cowboys. Still, this is a big trade haul that gives Dallas more options going forward. For that reason, they deserve a hypothetical trade grade of a B.</p><p><b>Grade: B</b></p><h2><b>Browns trade grade after adding future capital</b></h2><p>In theory, adding two first-round picks while only giving up one isn’t bad. Things are different with the pick the Browns would send off here because it is the second overall selection. The team<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/kenny-pickett-trade-grades-steelers-eagles-deal"> traded for Kenny Pickett</a> this offseason, and they still have Deshaun Watson on the roster. Neither is set up to be the quarterback of the future, and one of Cam Ward or Sanders will be available for the taking with pick two.</p><p>Franchise quarterbacks are not easy to come by, so the Browns would be better off keeping their selection and drafting a rookie signal-caller. If they were to move off of the pick, then this would be a nice haul. The 12th overall pick still holds great value, and the 2026 first-rounder they add could end up being near the top of the draft, too, considering the Falcons are rocking with a young quarterback – Michael Penix Jr. – next season.</p><p>With a fourth-round pick tossed in here, too, the Browns are getting almost as much back for a draft pick as the Cowboys are getting back for Parsons. With all of the quarterback issues they’ve had over the years, though, they just aren’t in the position to pass on one of the top gunslingers.</p><p><b>Grade: C+</b></p><h2><b>Falcons trade grade after adding Micah Parsons</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Micah-Parsons-1.jpg"><figcaption>Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>While it would cost the Falcons a pretty penny to trade for Parsons, the star pass rusher would be well worth it. Parsons already has quite the resume. The three-time All-Pro already has 52.5 career sacks, yet he is the age of some players who will be a rookie next season.</p><p>He is one of the best sack artists in the league, but he also does so much more than just pass-rushing. The uber-versatile defender is great against the run, and we’ve even seen him thrive when dropping back into pass coverage. Parsons can line up all over the defensive front and thrive no matter where he is.</p><p>Parsons could be the face of the Falcons for years to come, and he fits Penix’s timeline. The Falcons were in playoff contention for most of last season, and they expect a developmental leap from Penix. Parsons is the player who could get them over the hump. If he does, then their 2026 first-rounder that is being sent to the Cowboys in this deal might be near the end of the round.</p><p><b>Grade: B+</b></p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although his deal with the Cowboys doesn’t expire for another season, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-rumors-insider-micah-parsons-contract-prediction">Micah Parsons is ready for his contract extension</a>, and his expectations are high. Because of that, he and the Cowboys remain at bay as the two parties try to find a common ground. And at the NFL owners meetings, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/cowboys-hc-brian-schottenheimer-on-contract-talks-with-micah-parsons" rel="noopener">gave an inside look</a> into the Micah Parsons discussion.</p><p>Schottenheimer got asked if there was a possibility of Parsons no longer being on the Cowboys in 2025, and his answer seemed to paint the picture of their intentions moving forward with the star defender.</p><p>“I wouldn’t think so,” Schottenheimer said via NFL.com. “He’s an elite player. He’s a guy we think can wreak havoc on opposing offenses for a long time in a Cowboys uniform.”</p><p>Does that mean teams will listen? Undoubtedly no. There will still be plenty of teams that try to trade for Parsons.</p><p>But, as Schottenheimer said, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-micah-parsons-joins-elite-company-with-milestone-sack">Parsons is an elite defender</a>. That comes with its own set of responsibilities, however, which includes signing him to a massive, likely historic, contract extension.</p><p>Even in his least productive season in the 2024 campaign — 43 tackles, 12 sacks, 12 TFLs — he’s among the NFL’s best defenders. So, given the other contracts in the league, <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/market-value/_/id/72392/micah-parsons" rel="noopener">his market value</a> is set around a $36 million annual salary on average, per Spotrac, giving Micah Parsons a four-year $146.74 million contract extension.</p><p>Compared to other defensive ends in the league — the position Parsons is categorized as on Spotrac — would put him somewhere between Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby as far as average salary goes. However, Parsons <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2025/03/28/cowboys-star-micah-parsons-wants-to-become-the-nfls-first-200-million-defensive-player/" rel="noopener">reportedly wants a historic contract</a>, becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league with a contract extension that surpasses Ja’Marr Chase’s $40.25 million annually, per the <i>Dallas Morning News’</i> Calvin Watkins.</p><p>With Cowboys owner <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/nfl-analyst-blasts-cowboys-owner-jerry-jones-for-running-cheap-franchise">Jerry Jones not always being the most willing spender</a>, it could be an uphill battle for Parsons to get his desired contract extension.</p><p>But, if Brian Schottenheimer’s comments hold water, Jones and the Cowboys could be busting open the checkbooks for Micah Parsons’ upcoming contract extension.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Though they may have just started talking, executive vice president Stephen Jones spoke about how the <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44468484/cowboys-feel-good-recent-talks-micah-parsons" rel="noopener">contract talks</a> are going but didn’t say much.</p><p>“I don’t want to get into any details,” Jones said via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “It’s not fair for anybody, other than we’ve got a great working relationship with Micah and think the world of him. Like I’ve said, we’ve had good visits with him and feel good about where we’re headed.”</p><p>The Cowboys gave out big contracts to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb at the beginning of last season, and Parsons was the next person in line. It took some time for those deals to come about, and it may be the same thing for Parsons depending on how much he’s asking for.</p><p>Parson is one of the best pass rushers in the league, and after seeing what Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby got, there’s a chance that he can get around the same money that they signed for.</p><p>“We’ve done the early before, and we’ve waited until the end to do them,” Jones said. “A lot of it is just the negotiation itself. Some of them take longer than others. There’s definitely a plan in place, but we’ll just see how everything plays out. The former Dallas Cowboys teammates have been taking shots at each other since <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-dallas-loses-demarcus-lawrence-seahawks-42-million-deal">Lawrence landed a $42 million deal</a> with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency earlier this month.</p><p>The feud quickly escalated, turning personal when Lawrence accused Parsons of prioritizing social media over football. Clearly Parsons wasn’t going to let the veteran defensive end have the last word. It took a little while, but the Cowboys’ All-Pro pass rusher <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/micah-parsons-calls-demarcus-lawrence-s-criticism-ridiculous-watch-the-tape" rel="noopener">responded</a> to Lawrence’s jab in an interview with All City DLLS.</p><p>“I think it’s ridiculous… You watch the tape. There’s no question I’m locked in. I’m giving my actual best effort out there on the field, which I think that’s all that matters,” Parsons said, per NFL.com.</p><p>“Everyone has their selection of how they want to deal with things. Some people drink. Some people smoke. I like to tweet. I like to be active and know about ball. I like to know what everyone else is doing. And that’s just me. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. What I care about is the effort you give me on the football field, and that’s something you can’t question. I know I’m one of the best players and as long as I’m performing that way, it shouldn’t matter. When you jump offside on the goal line, is that because I’m tweeting? I think it’s ridiculous, outrageous,” Parsons stated.</p><h2><b>Cowboys’ All-Pro Micah Parsons won’t let DeMarcus Lawrence beef die</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Micah-Parsons.jpg"><figcaption>Tim Heitman-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The war of words began when Lawrence left Dallas this offseason and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/demarcus-lawrence-blasts-cowboys-super-bowl-chances-after-joining-seahawks">took a parting shot at the team</a>, saying he knew he was never going to win a Super Bowl with the Cowboys. The dig caught Parsons’ attention and he <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-micah-parsons-beef-demarcus-lawrences-personal">fired back with a personal attack</a>, writing “This what rejection and envy look like… this some clown s**t.”</p><p>Lawrence, naturally, responded. The 12-year veteran wrote, “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”</p><p>The back-and-forth seemed to fizzle out after that. But now Parsons has replied to Lawrence’s accusation. So it’s just a matter of time before Lawrence hops on some podcast and answers back.</p><p>Prior to signing his three-year deal with the Seahawks, Lawrence told reporters he was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/demarcus-lawrence-hoping-for-glorious-return-to-cowboys">hoping to stay with the Cowboys</a>, saying “It would be a glorious thing.” Then after he left he stated the team wouldn’t win a Super Bowl during his playing career. Then, in the middle of his social media fight with Parsons, he wrote a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-demarcus-lawrence-heartfelt-letter-after-signing-seahawks">heartfelt goodbye letter to the Cowboys</a>.</p><p>It seems Lawrence has some feelings to sort out this offseason. And <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-micah-parsons-honest-response-to-contract-question">Micah Parsons has stayed in the dark</a> about his new contract. But an NFL insider made a monster contract prediction about Parsons.</p><p>With other edge rushers securing big deals, it seems like the Cowboys will need to back up the cash truck to Parsons’ home and <a href="https://www.si.com/nfl/aaron-rodgers-longs-for-nostalgia-takeaways" rel="noopener">unload some green ones.</a> That’s the viewpoint of Albert Breer, according to Sports Illustrated.</p><p>“The price keeps rising on Micah Parsons,” Breer wrote. “With Chase and Myles Garrett now both over $40 million per year in new money, it’s pretty clear that Parsons’s next contract average will start with a 4. And that 4 won’t be followed by a 0.”</p><p>Ouch, Jerry Jones. The boss dude may have to dig deep into the pockets for this one.</p><h2><b>Cowboys LB Micah Parsons awaiting a large payday</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Dallas-Cowboys-LB-Micah-Parsons.jpg"><figcaption>Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Oddly enough, there’s confusion <a href="https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cowboys/2025/03/20/cowboys-news-headlines-march-19-2025-micah-parsons-mel-kiper-omarion-hampton/82556459007/" rel="noopener">about the depth</a> of contract talks between the Cowboys and Parsons, according to cowboyswire.com.</p><p>“WFAA’s Mike Leslie has reported that Parsons and the team have held discussions as recently as Tuesday,” Todd Brock wrote. “NFL Network’s Jane Slater says nothing is close and that “meaningful talks haven’t even begun yet.” Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS seconded that. So, the waiting continues.”</p><p>Also, there seems to be a concern about Parsons’ <a href="https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cowboys/2025/03/19/cowboys-news-headlines-march-18-2025-dak-prescott-ceedee-lamb-cooper-kupp-micah-parsons/82529636007/" rel="noopener">presence on the team</a>, according to cowboyswire.com.</p><p>“From absences at voluntary team workouts to the in-season podcasting to public critiques from teammates like Malik Hooker and DeMarcus Lawrence, the questions continue about Parsons’s commitment to the team and whether he’s good for the locker room,” Brock wrote. “In his defense, Parsons has said everybody leads in different ways. And now with a new mega-contract up in the air, everybody is watching to see how the organization responds.”</p><p>Furthermore, Parsons isn’t the only player the team needs to get under a long-term contract. Guard Tyler Smith, tight end Jake Ferguson, and cornerback DaRon Bland are in this mix as well.</p><p>Smith’s importance comes from the fact he’s set to be <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44342252/nfl-dallas-cowboys-micah-parsons-daron-bland-jake-ferguson-tyler-smith" rel="noopener">the lead dog</a> for the offensive line, according to espn.com.</p><p>“In my mind, I think it just starts with maintaining that standard,” Smith said. “When I got here, from the film room to walkthroughs, I’ve seen how Tyron and Zack practice. I’ve seen how they study. I have thought about how I can be the best leader I can be. How can I continue to improve the standard that they’ve set before me?
