Jones landed with the New England Patriots instead, where he quickly flamed out, resulting in him getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The arrest took place on Thursday, and Lenior was released from custody on Friday.</p><p>“49ers CB Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday in Los Angeles for allegedly resisting a peace officer, per TMZ. Police say Lenoir didn’t comply after a man he was with tossed him car keys during an incident involving a suspected firearm. He was released from police custody on Friday and is scheduled to appear in court next month.”</p><p>The 49ers have not released a statement regarding Lenior’s arrest. It’s possible the franchise decides to keep it in-house for now while Deommodore Lenoir handles his court appearance in July.</p><p>Lenior, who played for the Oregon Ducks during his college days, has served as a starting cornerback <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/49ers-brandon-aiyuk-trashes-san-francisco-for-persistent-trade-rumors">for the 49ers</a> for the past three seasons. He’s proven to be a reliable asset on the field, playing a key role in defending the pass.</p><p>Last season, Deommodore Lenoir finished with 85 combined tackles (53 solo), two interceptions, and one forced fumble. He aims to continue playing at a high level and potentially finish with more than 50 solo tackles for the fourth consecutive season in San Francisco.</p><p>Deommodore Lenoir is set to begin the second year of his five-year contract worth more than $88 million. Based on the fact that he was released from custody, expectations are that he’ll go to his court date and handle the alleged incident. He will keep playing “until I don’t have fun anymore,” but then he will head into his new venture. There is also another scenario where he could retire earlier, but that’d take his wife saying, “You kinda look like s**t out there; you should retire.”</p><p>What does not having “fun” look like for Kittle? “I don’t know. I think if I get to 35, and it hurts to put pants on in the morning, I think I’ll be like, ‘Ah, this isn’t that much fun anymore,’ and I’ll have a conversation with myself,” he explained. “But I’m feeling great right now.”</p><p>Still, Kittle has already planned out what will come next. He wants to join WWE as a big fan of them. He has previously been in the ring a handful of times, but he sounds open to a full-time run.</p><p>“I would love to do WWE,” said the tight end. “I think there’s definitely opportunity within that world, and I would love nothing more than to be a part of it. My only question mark with that is I love being a fan of WWE. I would only do WWE if I bought a ring and practiced my ass off for a long time, so I wouldn’t look like an idiot out there.</p><p>“I’ve been in a WWE ring like three times. I don’t know what I’m doing out there. I have an understanding of how it works, but I haven’t moonsaulted off the top rope at WrestleMania like Pat McAfee did,” he continued.</p><h2><b>49ers tight end George Kittle’s history with WWE</b></h2><p>As Kittle noted, he is a big fan of WWE. He, along with Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen, started Tight End University, which is a camp directed at developing tight ends. During this year’s event in Nashville, Kittle spoke to the media. One of the topics stayed on course with a <a href="https://x.com/ESPNNFL/status/1937608220589064545" rel="noopener">conversation about the position’s significance</a>.</p><p>“If you look at the past 10 Super Bowl winners, every team has either a Gronk, a Kelce, Dallas Goedert, you have an elite tight end that makes plays for you the entire season,” Kittle said during NFL Live.</p><p>He isn’t wrong. Outside of a few teams, every recent winner has had a tight end of value. The league is adapting after seeing Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski make plays for the New England Patriots all those years, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Kansas City Chiefs formed an almost identical tandem with Patrick Mahomes and Kelce. Those two teams seriously benefited from having Kelce and Gronk catch touchdowns in the playoffs and help lead the teams to multiple Super Bowl wins. Olsen was huge for Cam Newton and their run to the Super Bowl in 2015, despite losing. Last season, Dallas Goedert was a massive weapon for Jalen Hurts.</p><p>Even though Kittle doesn’t have a Super Bowl himself with the 49ers, he has been to two of them and lost both by small margins to the Chiefs.</p><p>The new era of tight ends is upon us. Brock Bowers is turning into a superstar with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Indianapolis Colts drafted Tyler Warren out of Penn State, and the Chicago Bears took Colston Loveland out of Michigan as the new wave of TEs. As the veteran running back looks to rebound from one of the strangest setbacks of his career, head coach Kyle Shanahan believes everything is falling into place.</p><p>Despite McCaffrey turning 29 on June 7, the 49ers have liked everything they have seen from him in the 2025 offseason. Shanahan called McCaffrey a “psycho” who is <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45569849/49ers-running-back-christian-mccaffrey-healthy-long-offseason" rel="noopener">taking his recovery as seriously as possible</a>.</p><p>“He is a psycho in a good way and does everything imaginable every single day,” Shanahan told ESPN. “Last year, he couldn’t, because he was battling injury. And this year he is healthy, so he is right back to being who he is and who he has always been, and it’s really fun to watch… Christian is as ready as any player I’ve ever been around.”</p><p>McCaffrey was visibly limited in his four games of 2024, running for a career-low 202 yards on just 4.0 yards per carry. His production was a steep drop-off from the 1,459 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns he notched in 2023.</p><p>McCaffrey’s situation began with reports suggesting that his pre-season Achilles injury would not affect his Week 1 status. Yet, by Week 1, he was ruled out, before landing on injured reserve shortly after. McCaffrey did not make his debut until Week 9, only to suffer another knee injury in Week 12 and get sent back on injured reserve.</p><h2><b>Kyle Shanahan’s high hopes for Christian McCaffrey, 49ers’ 2025</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/San-Francisco-RB-Christian-McCaffrey.jpg"><figcaption>D. With McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk ideally back in the lineup, the 49ers’ offense should remain one of the most potent units in the league. Also, the team is banking on internal development to remain relevant in a loaded NFC. Yes, rebuilding may not be the mission. That said, retooling clearly is. One final addition could be the difference between another deep playoff run and an early postseason exit.</p><h2><b>Tumultuous 49ers Offseason</b></h2><p>Sure, the 49ers may not be looking to tear things down and initiate a rebuild. However, that certainly felt like the plan in the early offseason. No, but they had to do some tearing down in order to afford the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/49ers-rumors-why-insider-believes-brock-purdy-contract-resolution-coming-soon">inevitable contract extension for Purdy</a>.</p><p>Here we’ll try to look at the perfect San Francisco 49ers move to fill out their roster before the 2025 training camp.</p><h2><b>The One Move That Makes Too Much Sense</b></h2><p>If there’s one thing that’s clear entering 2025, it’s that Purdy needs help at wide receiver.</p><p>Brandon Aiyuk is expected to miss at least the first half of the season after tearing his ACL and MCL late in 2024. Meanwhile, Demarcus Robinson faces a likely three-game suspension for a November DUI arrest. That leaves Jauan Jennings, rookie Jaheim Williams, and a handful of question marks in the receiver room. That simply won’t cut it.</p><p>Enter Amari Cooper.</p><p>The 31-year-old four-time Pro Bowler may no longer be a weekly 100-yard threat. Still, his route running, experience, and hands make him one of the most reliable wideouts available on the market. Yes, he dealt with nagging injuries throughout the 2024 season. That said, Cooper still managed to post respectable numbers and showed flashes of his old self when healthy. More importantly, his presence would take immediate pressure off the young receiving corps. He would also give Purdy a proven target who can win against man coverage and move the chains.</p><p>Note that Cooper is a strong fit schematically. Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system thrives on precision and timing. Cooper’s crisp route running and football IQ would allow him to integrate quickly.</p><h2><b>Support for Purdy, Depth for the Offense</b></h2><p>The decision to give Purdy a five-year, $265 million extension underscores how much the franchise believes in his long-term potential. Of course, with great investment comes great responsibility. San Francisco must now do everything in its power to set him up for success.</p><p>Christian McCaffrey is still the engine of the offense, but he’s entering his age-29 season and will inevitably need more help. George Kittle remains elite but has battled injuries over the years. And here are the two hottest takes coming out of the 49ers’ 2025 minicamp.</p><p>All eyes seem to be on Christian McCaffrey this season. And why not? When the running back is on the field, he’s a difference-maker with few peers. But he played only four games last season, and the 49ers suffered for it. The good news comes in the form of better health at this point for McCaffrey.</p><h2><b>49ers RB Christian McCaffrey hoping to bounce back</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/San-Francisco-RB-Christian-McCaffrey.jpg"><figcaption>D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The eight-year veteran got the nod from Pro Football Focus as the 49ers’ <a href="https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-every-team-make-or-break-player-2025-season#WSH" rel="noopener">make-or-break player</a> for 2025.</p><p>“Just one year removed from being arguably the best running back in football, McCaffrey endured a disaster of a 2024 season,” Dalton Wasserman wrote. “He appeared in just four games due to injury and earned a career-low 71.3 PFF overall grade.</p><p>“If McCaffrey performs like the player who was the highest-graded qualified running back in the NFL across 2022 and 2023, then San Francisco has a playoff-caliber offense. If the injuries persist or have sapped his explosiveness, there will be serious questions about McCaffrey’s future.”</p><p>It’s part of the story with McCaffrey. The ability to change games is clear. The ability to play in games isn’t always quite as evident. However, McCaffey said he’s <a href="https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/191775-minicamp-notebook-praises-mccaffrey-learns/" rel="noopener">good this summer</a>, according to 49erswebzone.com.</p><p>“I feel great,” McCaffrey said. “This offseason, I spent a lot of time kind of building back a base, starting from scratch. So a lot of it was rehab. And I wanted to put myself in a position where I didn’t miss a day of OTAs, and I could practice and play football again. And be healthy, and not miss a day. I did that, and now, we can kind of kick back up the training again. But I feel great.”</p><p>McCaffrey said he doesn’t put much stock into what people say about his internal drive that might cause him to run his body down.</p><p>“I don’t think about that,” McCaffrey said. “My job is to put my body in the best position it can to go out there and be me. Everything else it’s a lot of noise, and sometimes, there’s a lot of different things going on. My job is just to go 100% every play and continue to get better. I just try to focus on that.</p><p>“It’s funny, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that as you get older, you need to do less. I think there’s just a middle ground with that statement. And so, for me, it’s kind of a constant evaluation of where your body’s at and what you need. And you put a lot of trust in other people, in your trainer, your treatment people, the guys at the facility.”</p><h2><b>QB Brock Purdy draws praise from defensive coordinator</b></h2><p>Things didn’t work out in New York for Robert Saleh, but he’s back with the 49ers. And perhaps he’s glad he doesn’t have to game plan against Purdy, who is getting paid like one of the league’s best.</p><p>“I think highly of him, I really do,” Saleh said. “He is really good. You get jaded sometimes, I think. When you’re looking at certain players for a certain amount of time, and as a new face coming in, and seeing Brock, I’m like, ‘Son of a gun is pretty damn good.’ To where, ‘I could see where you get so used to seeing it,’ it becomes a standard, and you’re always trying to elevate it.</p><p>“Not every head coach—or not every organization—is able to look at their quarterback and compare it to Brock. Brock is a damn good quarterback. I’m trying not to talk poorly on other quarterbacks around the league, but he is one of the better ones.”</p><p>Purdy’s contract has been a source of debate across the NFL. But teammate George Kittle said Purdy <a href="https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/george-kittle-brock-purdy-worth-money-49ers-pay-him" rel="noopener">deserves the bag of cash</a>, according to The Rich Eisen Show via Sports Illustrated.</p><p>“I don’t know what his winning percentage is,” Kittle said. “But when you win a lot of games and you only need two years to go to the NFC championship or better, I think that’s decent. One of my favorite things that I’ve heard is everyone calls him a checkdown merchant. And then, the last two years, he’s had the least amount of checkdowns as a starting quarterback. Which got George Kittle warning the league of “violence” ahead of 2025.</p><p>The All-Pro tight end spoke to The Rich Eisen Show Wednesday <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOwKlt5FwDY" rel="noopener">to warn opposing offenses what’s coming</a>.</p><p>“Violence is coming is what I would say,” Kittle said to the longtime NFL Network personality.</p><p>Kittle himself has seen first hand the destruction a 49ers defense led by Saleh brings. Both won the 2019 season NFC title before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs.</p><p>“He’s really good at his job, and I’m really excited that we somehow convinced him to be our defensive coordinator again,” Kittle said.</p><p>Kittle described Saleh as one who inspires and knows how to fire up his players.</p><p>“And he just happens to also be really, really smart,” Kittle added. “So, I’m pumped to have him back in the building, just hanging out with him a little bit, talking about stuff. You can just tell he’s ready to roll this year, and he’s gonna get the boys fired up.”</p><h2><b>49ers’ past success with Robert Saleh on staff </b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Robert-Saleh-presser.jpg"><figcaption>D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Kyle Shanahan tabbed Saleh as his first defensive coordinator in 2017. He spent three seasons as linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.</p><p>Saleh and the 49ers became an immediate force together. San Francisco endured a rough start in 2017 — ranking 24th against yardage. But they jumped to 13th in 2018.</p><p>The ’19 season emerged as Saleh’s best work. The 49ers produced the league’s eighth-best scoring defense. But took second against total yards. San Francisco also delivered the league’s top-ranked passing defense.</p><p>That S.F. defense witnessed four defenders scale past 6.5 sacks. That included a young Nick Bosa who tallied nine sacks as a rookie.</p><p>Saleh’s defense still ranked in the top five despite the disappointing 6-10 mark. He eventually accepted the New York Jets head coaching position. None of his Jets teams advanced to the playoffs, though. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-york-jets/jets-news-robert-saleh-fired-telling-aaron-rodgers-nathaniel-hackett-demotion">The Jets fired Saleh in December before Christmas</a>.</p><p>Saleh will aim to rebuild himself at the place he became renowned as a defensive play-caller.
