Instead, it was due to rumors floating that the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-nick-chubb-predicted-possible-salary-cap-cut-amid-injury-recovery">Browns would move on from Chubb</a>. However, with Chubb finally returning to the field for the Browns against the Cincinnati Bengals, he wanted to <a href="https://www.theplayerstribune.com/nick-chubb-nfl-football-cleveland-browns" rel="noopener">set the record straight</a>. According to the running back, the Browns never planned on moving on from him. That’s a massive relief for Cleveland fans, especially since Chubb wouldn’t have it any other way.</p><p>“When my agent called me to tell me the news, he said, ‘I’ve never actually had a front office tell me anything like this. But they said that part of the reason they never entertained cutting you is because of how much you mean to the <i>city</i>.'” Chubb shared. “That really meant the world to me. Look, I know the deal. As <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-sean-mcdermotts-team-stance-after-acquiring-amari-cooper-via-trade">former Browns wide receiver</a> Amari Cooper put it just a week ago, Cleveland’s offense lacks a spark. Could that spark be wearing a No. 24 jersey for the Browns? Considering what else the Browns have to work with on offense, they might not have any other option.</p><p>Chubb hasn’t played since Week 2 last season when he suffered a significant knee injury. He underwent two surgeries to repair his medical capsule, meniscus, medial collateral ligament, and anterior cruciate ligament. Chubb was expected to be able to play sometime in 2024, and now, he can help give the Browns the spark they’ve been lacking.</p><p>Considering that Cleveland is a run-first team, Chubb is the heart and soul of that identity. Chubb is one of the league’s best running backs when healthy. The 28-year-old was coming off four consecutive Pro Bowl seasons from 2019-22 before suffering the injury last year. So, while there might be some rust against the Bengals, getting Chubb back is enormous. During their last game, they got off to a slow start that was later erased by Joe Burrow and his ability to run the ball. Throwing for 208 and not turning the ball over, Burrow also led the team in rushing with 55 yards on the ground. Given their tandem backfield of Zack Moss and Chase Brown, the Bengals would like to expect more production in their running game. Nevertheless, the Bengals played to the flow of the game and came up with key defensive stops in the fourth quarter.</p><p>They’ll meet another losing team in the Browns, so it opens the door for this Bengals team to finally get hot while seeing the Eagles and Raiders in their following games. Their defense was tasked with bailing out the struggling offense during their last game, so we’re still waiting to see what this Bengals offense is capable of following a slow start to the season. We’ve already seen the big play ability from a player like Ja’Marr Chase, so it’ll be paramount to get the ball in his hands as they face another tough defensive unit in the Browns.</p><h2><b>Why The Browns Could Cover The Spread/Win</b></h2><p>The Browns are having a nightmare start to their season and they’ve been outscored 95-60 over the last four games. They’ve also failed to eclipse a 20-point total in each of their games this season, raising serious concerns around this offense. Of course, much of this stems from the sub-par performance from QB Deshaun Watson as the team has largely been unable to covert on third-down situations. With Nick Chubb still rehabbing from injury, RB Jerome Ford has been tasked with carrying the ball this season to the tune of 264 yards and just one touchdown. For this team to be successful, they’ll need a much better showing from their quarterback and offensive unit as a whole.</p><p>The one bright spot this season has been the defense, which ranked among the NFL’s best heading into the season. Myles Garrett is still playing at an extremely high level, but the secondary has been having issues stopping opposition through the air. The defense will need to come up with turnovers in order to give the Browns a chance in this one, otherwise they may be subject to another big day through the air from opposing QB Joe Burrow.</p><h2><b>Final Bengals-Browns Prediction &amp; Pick</b></h2><p>Despite both teams struggling to find momentum this season, this should turn out to be a heated defensive battle with both units performing well and this being a heated rivalry matchup. The Cincinnati Bengals certainly have the more potent offense and will have a big advantage if they’re able to air it out in this one.</p><p>The Bengals will also have a two-back system for running the ball, which could come in handy when offering different looks for a stern Cleveland defensive front. However, this will only open the passing game for Joe Burrow and we expect him to have a bounce-back performance following a season that’s been somewhat disappointing to this juncture.</p><p>For our final prediction, we have to roll with the Cincinnati Bengals to win and cover the spread. Buffalo hung on to beat the New York Jets 23-20 and improve to 4-2 on the season. And the team got another win on Tuesday when the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-buffalo-amari-cooper-browns-blockbuster-trade">Bills landed veteran receiver Amari Cooper in a trade</a> with the Cleveland Browns.</p><p>The five-time Pro Bowl WR had been in Cleveland since 2022 and put up back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons entering 2024. The Bills get Cooper and a sixth-round draft pick in 2025 and send the Browns a third-round pick in next year’s draft as well as a seventh rounder in 2026.</p><p>The paltry return for a difference-making wideout had Pat McAfee stunned. “This one <a href="https://x.com/ESPNNFL/status/1846268894010364404" rel="noopener">feels like a heist</a>,” he said of the trade, via NFL on ESPN. “Wow. That feels real light to get Amari Cooper on your team. That is insane to add an instant playmaker,” McAfee said. “Josh Allen just got a great weapon… Congrats to the Bills,” he added, per NFL on ESPN.</p><p>Cooper is making just $1.2 million in 2024, and the Bills will <a href="https://x.com/FieldYates/status/1846253207493738912" rel="noopener">take on $807K</a> of his salary, per ESPN’s Field Yates on X. Following his departure, the <a href="https://x.com/Jake_Trotter/status/1846256395689021445" rel="noopener">only player on the team with multiple touchdowns</a> in 2024 is backup safety Rodney McLeod Jr., according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter.</p><p>Cooper is responsible for two of DeShaun Watson’s five touchdown passes on the year with Jordan Akins, Jerry Jeudy and Blake Whiteheart each grabbing one. On the ground, Watson has one rushing touchdown with running back Jerome Ford also reaching paydirt once. With the move, the Bills secure a No. 1 target for Josh Allen after they lost Stefon Diggs this offseason, and the Browns begin the process of waving the white flag on this season.</p><p>The Bills also <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1846254794819748226" rel="noopener">received a 2025 sixth-round pick</a> from the Browns in the deal, and Cleveland got a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-rounder. This move follows another rocky performance for the Bills offense where their pass catchers struggled to generate consistent separation in a 23-20 win over the New York Jets on Monday night. The Browns are in the midst of a season that is getting away from them quickly after another deflating loss to fall to 1-5.</p><p>The Cooper trade is the second massive wide receiver domino to fall on Tuesday after the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-jets-raiders-davante-adams-trade">Jets acquired Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders</a>.</p><h2><b>Bills add No. 1 receiver to bolster passing game</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Josh-Allen_4b454e.jpg"><figcaption>Ed Mulholland-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It can’t be overstated how big this deal is for the Bills. Cooper may not be at the level of the best of the best wideouts in the NFL, but he’s still an elite route runner who can make plays at all three levels of the field. He gives the Bills offense a separator who can beat man coverage, which is something that they were desperately missing.</p><p>In Buffalo’s two losses this season, its opponents challenged their receivers to win on the outside, and they couldn’t do it. Josh Allen and the offense struggled mightily against man coverage against the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens, but that becomes much tougher to do now with Cooper in the fold.</p><p>We’ve seen in the past what Allen can do when he has a go-to guy on the outside. The loss of Stefon Diggs, for all of the issues that he and the Bills had by the end of their pairing, has been felt, and he took Allen to a different level in the passing game. Cooper has a chance to have the same effect. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-amari-cooper-addresses-swirling-trade-rumors">Cooper must be excited to get to Buffalo</a> as well, moving away from the dismal and inept passing game in Cleveland. He has had some drops, but 24 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns in six games is not nearly enough production for his skill level.</p><p>Cooper’s <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1846256288478445967" rel="noopener">contract is another bonus</a> on top of this deal for the Bills. The Browns converted most of Cooper’s salary this year to a signing bonus before the season started, which means that the Bills now owe Cooper less than $1 million for the rest of this season.</p><p>There is the risk of this being a rental for the Bills, as Cooper’s contract is up at the end of this season. If that ends up being the case, then the draft compensation is steep for just 11 games plus the playoffs. However, if everything works out as it should, Cooper should sign an extension with the Bills, and he fills their biggest weakness at the start of this season.</p><p><b>Bills grade: A</b></p><h2>Browns make necessary move in the middle of lost season</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Watson.jpg"><figcaption>Peter Casey-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Amari Cooper trade is an official signal of something that just about everyone watching the Browns this season already knew. This season is over. Cleveland is 1-5, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-deshaun-watson-stat-so-bad-think-its-fake">Deshaun Watson is the worst starting quarterback in the NFL</a> right now, and he can’t be benched because of his massive contract. By all indications, the Browns are ready to ride the Watson train all the way to the end of the tracks in 11 weeks when the train crashes and everyone loses their job.</p><p>While it is a complete surrender on this season, the move to get off of Cooper is a sound one by the front office. There was no indication that Cooper wanted to be in Cleveland past this season, so moving his expiring contract for a day two draft pick is good business. However, it’s little consolation for the depths of despair that they are staring down moving forward.</p><p>In the short term, head coach Kevin Stefanski and Watson will try to work with Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore as their top wideouts with David Njoku in line for more targets at tight end.</p><p>The Browns won’t have very many avenues of acquiring talent outside of the NFL Draft in the coming seasons <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-nfl-insider-reveals-way-out-of-deshaun-watson">due to Watson’s contract</a>, so any picks that they can scoop up are helpful. Before the 2022 NFL season, Cooper was traded again, this time to the Cleveland Browns for a 2022 fifth-round pick and a 2022 sixth-round pick.</p><h2><b>Bills jumpstart passing game with Amari Cooper</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Browns-Amari-Cooper-now-on-the-Buffalo-Bills-after-trade.jpg"><figcaption>© Ken Blaze-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Are the Bills playing bad? Not really. But a certain something appeared to be missing when they played against the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, their two toughest opponents this season. They were outscored 53-30 in those contests. Against the Ravens, the Bills’ leading receiver was Khalil Shakir, who made four catches for 62 yards. Allen went 16-for-20 for 180 yards.</p><p>It didn’t get any better against the Texans as a dazed Allen completed just 9-of-30 for 131 yards and a score. Rookie WR Keon Coleman led all Bills receivers with one catch for 49 yards and a touchdown. No other pass catcher had more than two receptions.</p><p>Something needed to be done, and while Cooper is far from being a savior, he’s a proven commodity who’s accustomed to the pressures of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-amari-cooper-addresses-swirling-trade-rumors">being the new guy</a>.</p><p>The Bills also benefit greatly from the financial flexibility of adding Cooper, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.</p><p>“The Browns converted $18.79 million of Amari Cooper’s $20M salary to a signing bonus back in March,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported after the trade. “Buffalo didn’t have the flexibility to pay Davante Adams $11.6 million for the rest of 2024 like the #Jets did. Now, they get Cooper for … $806,667.”</p><p>Buffalo needed to shake things up on offense and give Allen the true No. 1 receiver the team lacked. The last day to make deals is a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/when-is-nfls-new-trade-deadline">week later than it historically is</a>, so it is possible more trades will occur than normal. The delayed deadline will create more clarity on who will be trade deadline buyers and who will be sellers.</p><p>Teams will have more time to evaluate if they are good enough to where adding some pieces through trade can help for a playoff/Super Bowl push or if their postseason odds are faint and they should trade away their best assets for future help. Trade deadline trades are occurring with more frequency than ever before. The 2022 deadline broke the record for deadline deals, <a href="https://www.sportsnet.ca/nfl/article/2023-nfl-trade-deadline-tracker-every-move-made/" rel="noopener">and eight</a> trades were made on the last day to do so last season.</p><p>The madness has already begun, too, as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-jets-raiders-davante-adams-trade">Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets</a> on Oct. 15. The move reunites the receiver with Aaron Rodgers, and it might incentivize other teams to start making moves before deadline day even approaches. That was proven true when <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bills-news-buffalo-amari-cooper-browns-blockbuster-trade">Amari Cooper was traded to the Buffalo Bills</a> just hours after the Adams deal.</p><p>The new deadline date is seemingly making pre-deadline trades more common. Regardless, it is already becoming clear that this will be an active trade deadline. Here are the teams who we think will either be buyers or sellers on or before Nov. 5.</p><h2><b>Trade deadline buyers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Brett-Veach.jpeg"><figcaption>Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p><b>Detroit Lions</b></p><p>The Detroit Lions have been one of the best teams in the NFL this year, but they are in the best division in football. The NFC North has a combined record of 17-5, as the last-placed Green Bay Packers are even a respectable 4-2. The Lions’ offense has been incredible, as evidenced by their 47-point outburst against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.</p><p>However, their defense took a big hit in that game. Star pass rusher <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lions-news-aidan-hutchinson-breaks-silence-on-scary-knee-injury">Aidan Hutchinson broke his leg</a> in gruesome fashion, and the team will now be without him for the rest of the season. Hutchinson has a league-leading 7.5 sacks this season, which made him one of the hottest players in football. Replacing his production will be next to impossible internally or externally, but the Lions would be smart to trade for a piece that can help.</p><p><b>Kansas City Chiefs</b></p><p>The Chiefs will always be trade deadline buyers as long as Patrick Mahomes is quarterbacking the team because they will always be in championship contention with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ranking-50-best-nfl-players-2024-season">best player in football</a> under center. Their likelihood of making a trade at this year’s trade deadline seems higher than ever before, even though the team has shown a willingness to make trades in the past.</p><p>Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, and Isiah Pacheco are all among the best offensive playmakers on the Chiefs’ deadly offense, but they all have injuries that will hold them out for all or most of the season. With Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the team’s offense will be okay, but they had a scary lineup before all of the injuries. Adding another offensive weapon would make sense, as it would help take a load off of the aging tight end.</p><p>Many questioned if the Chiefs would be fine without Tyreek Hill, and they’ve since won two straight Super Bowls, so adding more offensive talent isn’t necessarily a necessity, as Mahomes will thrive with whoever is catching his passes. The Chiefs are clearly in their championship window, though, and considering they’ve made deadline deals in the past, you can expect them to be busy on Nov. 5.</p><p><b>Minnesota Vikings</b></p><p>The Vikings have been the surprise team of the NFL so far. They are one of two undefeated teams left, but adding some more depth could be crucial because of how stacked the NFC North is. Many predicted the Vikings to struggle this season, as entering the year, Sam Darnold was viewed as one of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ranking-all-32-nfl-starting-quarterbacks-ahead-of-the-2024-season">worst quarterbacks in football.</a></p><p>The signal-caller has had a breakout campaign on what is his fourth NFL team, though, and he is quickly proving that those who called him a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/biggest-nfl-draft-busts-of-all-time-ranked">draft bust</a> were wrong. Reinforcements are coming, as T.J. Hockenson is set to return from injury. Additionally, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is no stranger to trade deadline deals. He made a shocking, inner-divisional trade for the aforementioned tight end in 2022 despite division rivalry trades being a rarity. If the Vikings were willing to make a huge trade then, then they will surely be willing to do so now, considering the team is even more talented than it was back then.</p><p><b>Buffalo Bills</b></p><p>Financial problems led to the Bills moving on from a number of their best players in the offseason. Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer, and Micah Hyde all found new homes in the offseason, so the Bills were expected to take a step back. That hasn’t been the case, as Buffalo has a 4-2 record.</p><p>The team got off to a hot start and won each of their first three games. The trade deadline could be the time to replace some of the players lost in the offseason. Of course, the Bills likely won’t bring in highly paid superstars, considering the financially motivated moves that they made before the season. Adding bargain-bin talent makes a lot of sense for the Bills, though, especially on the defensive end.</p><p>The Bills proved their buyer status weeks before the deadline. Their acquisition of Amari Cooper gives Josh Allen a weapon unlike anything he has had before. The former Cleveland Browns receiver is one of the best route runners in football, and his addition puts to rest the question of who the team’s top receiver is.</p><p><b>Cincinnati Bengals</b></p><p>The Bengals got off to an even more brutal start this season than they normally have during the Joe Burrow era. Cincinnati was 1-4 before their Week 6 victory got them back on track. The Bengals have always been late bloomers, but they might need to add some pieces to push for the playoffs again this year.</p><p>The offense is set, but the defense is allowing 25.3 points per game, which ranks 26th in the league. The rushing defense, in particular, has been bad. The Bengals have already allowed 876 yards on the ground, so expect them to pursue more help for their front seven.</p><p><b>Houston Texans</b></p><p>The Texans’ rebuild was quick and efficient. Houston needed to hit on their draft picks to get to where they are at now, but they’ve also shown a willingness to make big trades. This was evident when they <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/stefon-diggs-trade-grades-texans-bills-blockbuster">acquired Stefon Diggs</a> in the offseason. With the Chiefs riddled by injuries, now is the time to make a push for the Super Bowl. The Texans should try and continue to add talent at this year’s trade deadline.</p><p><b>Washington Commanders</b></p><p>The Commanders made a surprising trade just before the start of the regular season, as they <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/eagles-news-philly-land-jahan-dotson-in-rare-trade-with-commanders">shipped Jahan Dotson off to the Philadelphia Eagles.</a> That was a seller’s move, but the Commanders should be buyers at the 2024 NFL trade deadline. Even without Dotson, Washington’s offense has been next to unstoppable.</p><p>Jayden Daniels is having one of the best rookie seasons we’ve ever seen. The first-year quarterback is completing 75.3% of his passes, which is historically efficient. The Commanders have proven that they can get things done without an <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ranking-all-32-nfl-teams-receiving-corps-2024-season">elite receiving corps</a>, but they could use some help on defense. Washington doesn’t have a great secondary, and they could use more defensive backs to help out for the back half of the season.</p><p><b>San Francisco 49ers</b></p><p>The 49ers hadn’t done much losing with Brock Purdy as their quarterback. That was until this season. Right now, San Francisco is 3-3, but they still have a championship-caliber roster. After all, many predicted them to win the Super Bowl coming into the season, and it has mainly been injuries that have held them back so far.</p><p>The 49ers have looked better as players, including George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, have returned to health. They are still without Christian McCaffrey and Ricky Pearsall, though, and Dre Greenlaw and Javon Hargrave are out for the season. The 49ers still have a deep roster, but they need to replenish some of the depth they’ve lost because of injury. There are way too many talented football players on this team to waste a season.</p><h2><b>Trade deadline sellers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Amari-Cooper-drop.jpeg"><figcaption>Scott Galvin-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p><b>Carolina Panthers</b></p><p>The Panthers were the worst team in the NFL last season, and that hasn’t changed this year. They’ve improved slightly since <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-bryce-young-blindsided-panthers-decision-to-bench-him">benching former number one overall pick Bryce Young</a>, but that decision has left the team in a pickle. It is awfully early to give up on the Alabama product completely, but re-naming the quarterback the starter might be out of the picture, too.</p><p>Regardless, there are holes all over this roster, and not just at quarterback. The Panthers will lose a lot of games regardless of who is throwing the football this season, so they have their eyes on the future. The team traded a lot to land Young in the 2023 NFL Draft, and they should look to recoup picks by trading any veteran assets that they have at this year’s trade deadline.</p><p>Young himself could even be on the move, as a fresh start might not be the worst thing in the world, especially if the Panthers are able to get a sufficient trade package in return. At this point, though, Young’s potential value to the Panthers might be greater than the trade value they can get in return for him.</p><p><b>Tennessee Titans</b></p><p>That Titans have also struggled with quarterback play. Will Levis has had a rough sophomore campaign that has included a number of boneheaded plays. Now, the Titans are 1-4 and have only scored 96 total points. Levis still has potential, but the lack of team success and the uninspiring season from the quarterback means that Tennessee might be in on the sweepstakes for a rookie quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>If that is the case, then they have some intriguing players on the trade block who could net decent returns. Considering Davante Adams and Amari Cooper have already been moved, receiver-needy teams might look to Tennessee to try and pull off a trade for someone from their receiver room. DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, and Treylon Burks are potential trade candidates.</p><p><b>New England Patriots</b></p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/patriots-news-drake-maye-beats-jacoby-brissett-first-start">Drake Maye made his first start at quarterback</a> for the Patriots in Week 6. The third overall pick looked the part, as he threw for three touchdowns. He also displayed some rookie struggles, as he threw two interceptions. Maye is somewhat raw as a player, and while his potential is sky-high, it might take him a while to work out the kinks and lead the Patriots to a lot of wins, especially with the underwhelming talent around him.</p><p>The Patriots aren’t in the postseason hunt this year, so they should better their chances for the future by being trade deadline sellers. Surrounding Maye with more talent next year will be key, as he and the team will be more likely to make noise in the AFC East then. You usually don’t want to strip down the talent around a young quarterback, and in turn, make life more difficult on them. There isn’t much of an offensive line or receiving corps in New England anyway, though, so life can’t get much harder on Maye.</p><p><b>Las Vegas Raiders</b></p><p>The biggest name on the trade block when we started writing this article just so happened to be Davante Adams, and now that he has been moved, it is confirmed that the Raiders will be trade deadline sellers. Adams time in Las Vegas was far from perfect, and Gardner Minshew was recently replaced by Aidan O’Connell at the quarterback position. More change is yet to come. Maxx Crosby is likely too valuable to be moved, but there are other players on this roster with trade value.</p><p><b>Cleveland Browns</b></p><p>The Browns offense has been terrible this season. Deshaun Watson’s struggles means that the team won’t compete for the playoffs, despite having a defense loaded with talent. Having all of that defensive talent also means that Cleveland has plenty of intriguing players that they can trade away at the trade deadline. Reining Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett is too talented to trade away, but the Browns should listen to offers for anyone else.</p><p><b>Jacksonville Jaguars</b></p><p>The Jaguars’ disappointing season continued in Week 6, and now they could be in for a roster overhaul. The team has transformed the roster in recent years with a number of big-name free-agent additions and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/every-number-one-overall-nfl-draft-pick-ranked">first overall selection</a> of Trevor Lawrence. It hasn’t worked out as expected, though.</p><p>Jacksonville might hit the reset button at the NFL trade deadline. They have the talent on their roster to get enough back to make fans optimistic about the future if they were to be trade-deadline sellers.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Just hours after the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-jets-raiders-davante-adams-trade">Jets’ Davante Adams move</a>, the <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1846252032518176891" rel="noopener">Bills made a deal</a> with the Cleveland Browns to acquire veteran All-Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper via trade.</p><p>“BREAKING: Browns trading WR Amari Cooper to Bills, sources tell @NFLonFOX,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>This Bills-Browns Amari Cooper trade involves Buffalo sending a 2025 third and a 2026 seventh-round pick to Clevland for Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round selection. The now-former Brown restructured his contract before the season and is now on a minimum deal this year.</p><p>Money-wise, the Bills <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1846256288478445967" rel="noopener">got a much better deal</a> than the Jets got with Adams.</p><p>“The Browns converted $18.79 million of Amari Cooper’s $20M salary to a signing bonus back in March,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported after the trade. “Buffalo didn’t have the flexibility to pay Davante Adams $11.6 million for the rest of 2024 like the #Jets did. Now, they get Cooper for … $806,667.”</p><p>Cooper has been relatively quiet this season as the Browns offense has struggled mightily. And on Monday, Cook’s backup, Ray Davis, posted 152 all-purpose yards against the Jets, which is the most for a rookie this season.</p><p>It is the wide receiver position that has hurt the Bills offense in 2024. After losing Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs in the offseason, Buffalo has not fully replaced them. Khalil Shakir has been good but already missed a game with an injury. The rest of the veterans — Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling — have been average as best.</p><p>Second-round pick Keon Coleman has been good at times but has also looked every bit the rookie at other times, making some big mistakes.</p><p>Bringing in Amari Cooper is a great deal for the Bills as it will upgrade the WR corps while also not costing a lot this season or in the future. On the Scoop City podcast, Sando described <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G712rLiS4UE&amp;t=1531s" rel="noopener">what they could pull off</a> if a potential team was interested.</p><p>“If you were a general manager of another team and I was general manager of the Browns,” Sando said. I would say, ‘Hey, you guys have a billionaire owner and he’s loaded, you guys don’t have a very good team and you guys have a lot of cap space.’ Is there any way we could trade Deshaun to you, and you could cut Deshaun whatever you want to do?</p><p>Watson is one of the least team-friendly contracts in the entire NFL. He’s set to make <a href="https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596" rel="noopener">$92 million guaranteed</a> for the next two seasons. The contract wouldn’t be so gruesome if the Browns were having a successful year. However, it’s been anything but that. Cleveland has a 1-5 record with Watson as the QB1 and the offense is in a funk. Despite running back Nick Chubb being out, Watson still has the talent to win games.</p><h2><b>Deshaun Watson’s contract is an eyesore for the Browns’, and other teams</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/NFL-Insider-reveals-the-way-Deshaun-Watsons-contract-can-get-off-of-the-Browns.jpg"><figcaption>© Eric Hartline-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The nearly $100 million that Watson is guaranteed is concerning. It would be one thing if he performed like he did with the Houston Texans. However, it’s been the inverse since returning from his injury. So far this season, Watson has thrown for <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WatsDe00.htm" rel="noopener">1,020 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions</a>. He hasn’t had a game over 200 passing yards.</p><p>Also, their offense has been porous, to say the least. They’re 30th in the league for points per game (15.8). Also, they haven’t scored over 20 points in a game this season. Sando detailed his plan involving draft picks and what the Cleveland front office would think.</p><p>“We’ll give you X amount of picks,” Sando said. “We’ll give you two 2nd round picks and you give us back a player that you don’t want on your team. And what that will do is it will severely reduce the cap hit that Cleveland faces. By doing the trade that cap burden and cash burden some of that would go over to the other team.”</p><p>Unless Watson flips the switch soon, he could be headed for the trade block. And things could get even worse after Jerome Ford’s latest injury update.</p><p>Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Ford is <a href="https://x.com/DanielOyefusi/status/1845880074718888433" rel="noopener">now considered week-to-week</a> with his hamstring injury, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. The running back was ruled out in the first quarter of the Browns’ 20-16 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.</p><p>Ford had been filling in for the injured Nick Chubb. Through the first six weeks of the season, he had run for 264 yards and a touchdown. While he averaged 5.3 yards per carry, Ford didn’t break 100+ yards rushing in any of his starts.</p><p>With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-nick-chubbs-return-but-not-in-week-6">Nick Chubb soon returning from his injury</a>, it’s fair to wonder what Ford’s status in the offense will be upon his return. Regardless, Ford proved to be a serviceable starter at running back and will be a major loss for Cleveland’s offense.</p><p>If Chubb doesn’t play in Week 7, D’Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong would be the lead runners. However, Ford never received more than 12 carries in a game during his time as the starter. The Browns as an offense need to improve for the team to truly establish the run.</p><p>That certainly hasn’t been the case in 2024, as Cleveland ranks dead last in the league, averaging 240.2 yards per game. Even with how much Deshaun Watson has struggle, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-kevin-stefanski-firm-take-deshaun-watsons-status-qb1">Stefanski has been unwilling to bench him</a>. He won’t have a choice when it comes to running back after Jerome Ford’s latest injury.</p><p>With their loss to the Eagles, the Browns have dropped to 1-5 on the season. They’ve lost four in a row with their only win coming in Week 2 against the similarly 1-5 Jacksonville Jaguars.</p><p>Cleveland needs to figure out things in a hurry, or things will only continue to spiral. For the past few weeks, there have been questions surrounding <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-kevin-stefanski-response-deshaun-watson-benching">whether Deshaun Watson should be benched</a> due to the offense’s shortcomings. So far, head coach Kevin Stefanski has stood beside Watson, and he <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1845880463841280309" rel="noopener">reiterated his support</a> after their loss against the Eagles.</p><p>“I think Deshaun [Watson] gives us the best chance to win, continues to give us the best chance to win and they have to play sound offensive football around him,” Stefanski said.</p><p>Watson finished the game with 168 passing yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, but he was sacked five times. The Browns were also in the game for the most part, but if the offense had produced more, they probably would have won. It’s not certain if a quarterback change would help the Browns, but Stefanski isn’t trying to find that out right now.</p><h2>Should the Browns bench Deshaun Watson?</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Deshaun-Watson_bbcd1e.jpg"><figcaption>Eric Hartline-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Though Deshaun Watson might not be the main problem for the Browns’ offensive issues, there’s no doubt that they need a spark in that department. Last week, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-deshaun-watson-tuning-out-benching-noise">Watson mentioned that he hadn’t seen</a> any of the noise about benching him.</p><p>“I don’t hear it,” Watson said. “I don’t see it, so I’m not on Twitter. I’m not on any social media or things like that. So anytime that stuff comes up, the only time I first hear it is either you guys are bringing it up or somebody else outside [the building], and I just don’t know who it’s coming from.”</p><p>Watson has been more worried about fixing the problems on offense, and he’s trying to find ways to get better every week.</p><p>“I feel like there’s been opportunities for us to be able to play winning football and hit the open guy,” Watson said. “Maybe there was one or two things that were kind of off track that didn’t capitalize and we didn’t capitalize on that. And then there’s been some times where as a quarterback and misreading some things or second-guessing some things, but at the same time I think that’s part of just getting the reps and part of watching film and trying to find ways to get better each and every week.”</p><p>The Browns could get an offensive lift when Nick Chubb returns, and his presence could open up the run game, as well as play-action. If things don’t change in the coming weeks, Kevin Stefanski may not have a choice but to make a change at quarterback.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
