However, Baltimore is ready to put the loss in the past as it takes on the Cleveland Browns at home on Sunday Heading into the weekend, the Ravens got updates on Rashod Bateman and Isaiah Likely.</p><p>Likely did not play in Baltimore’s Week 1 game, robbing Jackson of a talented tight end. His foot injury has lingered and the team is being cautious with the tight end. Bateman, however, played a small role in the Ravens’ offensive explosion against the Bills, chipping in two catches for ten yards. However, his personal issues caught the attention of Baltimore fans throughout the week.</p><p>Missing the receiver would not have affected the numbers that the Ravens ended up putting up to start the season. However, he is a key piece of Baltimore’s offense opposite receivers like Zay Flowers and DeAndre Hopkins. If he misses any length of time, the Ravens become vulnerable against an AFC North rival. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the receiver <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1966580940081131613" rel="noopener">is ready to play</a>.</p><p>“Ravens TE Isaiah Likely (foot) is officially out again Sunday vs. Cleveland. WR Rashod Bateman (personal) is good to go,” Pelissero said.</p><p>Outside of Likely’s absence, the Ravens enter Week 2 at full strength offensively. Even though the Browns are not as talented as their divisional opponents, they are still capable of playing them close. Cleveland barely lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, dropping the game in a 17-16 nail-biter. Having Bateman on the outside is a relief for Jackson and the Ravens’ other weapons.</p><p>Heading into the game, Baltimore has some extra motivation. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/browns-news-safety-bold-claim-bringing-down-derrick-henry">Browns safety Grant Delpit took a shot at Derrick Henry</a>, saying that he was not tough to tackle. Cleveland wideout Jerry Jeudy is not worried about facing the Ravens’ secondary. One of their most recent moves saw them <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/ravens-news-rashod-bateman-contract-extension-message">sign wide receiver Rashod Bateman to a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension</a>, but for a point in time, it seemed like he was destined to get traded to the Dallas Cowboys.</p><p>With Bateman looking for a new deal and the Ravens digging their heels into the ground, the speedy pass-catcher was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-rumors-rashod-bateman-explored-trade-ravens-contract-extension">reportedly given permission to seek a trade</a>, which led to a slew of suitors emerging. No such deal materialized, but according to Bateman, the Cowboys <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6444465/2025/07/02/ravens-rashod-bateman-contract-lamar-jackson/" rel="noopener">were in hot pursuit</a> of him before he signed his new deal with Baltimore.</p><p>“I went through a lot of things with the Cowboys and all of that with my contract,” Bateman said, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. “There was a time when I didn’t know what was going to happen. However, reports are now that the Ravens’ pass catcher actually <a href="https://x.com/JFowlerESPN/status/1931331542212628791" rel="noopener">looked into trade opportunities</a> ahead of signing the deal.</p><p>“What led to his contract extension is that he was almost traded during this offseason,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler told the NFL Live crew. “He went to the Ravens, wanted a new deal, they simply said, ‘no,’ but they gave him permission to seek a trade. So, he went out on the open market, talked to teams, and I was told there were several involved … the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers. So, he saw he had a market. The Ravens saw that and said, ‘OK, we’ll just pay you instead. Last season, he caught 45 balls for 756 yards and nine touchdowns, which ranked 95th, 43rd, and ninth, respectively.</p><p>Those numbers represent the fifth-year wideout’s best NFL season, although he had one more catch during his rookie campaign. Talent and production aren’t Bateman’s biggest problems, though. Last season was his best campaign because it was the first time he played in all 17 games. He was available for 12, six, and 16 games during his first three seasons.</p><p>The injury concerns aside, this was probably a smart deal for the Ravens. The team has a WR1 in Zay Flowers and made an interesting veteran acquisition this Spring by bringing in DeAndre Hopkins. So, there will be little pressure on Bateman and he can continue to put up solid numbers in the background.</p><p>What this Rashon Bateman trade/contract extension scenario illustrates most, though, is the growing value of WR2s in the league. With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/bengals-news-jamarr-chase-roasts-cincinnati-after-161-million-contract">top wideouts now regularly making over $30 million per season</a>, the value of proven commodities who will produce at $10-$12 million per year has gone up.</p><p>That is what the 2021 first-round pick found out on the open market, and the Ravens found out before they opened their checkbook and wrote a big fat check to Batman.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

They did scoop up Texas Speedster Jaydon Blue in the fifth round, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/jaydon-blue-named-nfl-draft-sleeper-alongside-cowboys-dak-prescott">a potential steal</a> who could quickly become a key component of the backfield, but the organization surprisingly delayed its search for a complimentary wide receiver. America’s Team eventually filled that hole with the polarizing George Pickens.</p><p>Many fans were a bit taken aback that a franchise already mired in media speculation would gamble on an expressive player who attracted his share of bad optics during his three-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Apparently, though, Dallas explored other options before sending a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth-rounder to the Black and Gold.</p><p>Actually, the Cowboys <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1920937064628908419" rel="noopener">briefly engaged in talks</a> with another AFC North squad. “Sources: During their pursuit of a receiver, the Cowboys also looked into a trade for Ravens WR Rashod Bateman,” FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted on X. “Those talks didn’t go far, and Dallas ultimately struck a post-draft deal with the Steelers for George Pickens. Dallas’ search for another receiver was a months-long process.”</p><h2><b>Will George Pickens excel on the Cowboys?</b></h2><p>Bateman recorded 45 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games for the Baltimore Ravens last season. He poses a downfield threat in the passing game, as evidenced by his 16.8 yards per reception, which clearly appealed to Jerry Jones and company. Additionally, the 2019 Big Ten Receiver of the Year is under contract through the 2026-27 campaign.</p><p>The same cannot be said for Pickens, who is currently slated to enter free agency after next season. He does come with a higher ceiling, however. The 24-year-old out of Georgia eclipsed 1,100 receiving yards in his second NFL campaign and could have potentially done so again if he did not miss three games in 2024 with a hamstring injury. At 6-foot-3, Pickens has the size to serve as a lethal weapon in the Cowboys’ offense <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-news-george-pickens-vocal-joining-forces-with-ceedee-lamb">alongside 2023 All-Pro CeeDee Lamb</a>.</p><p>He has to keep his emotions in check, though. The national champion has visibly showed his frustrations multiple times, creating needless distractions that this squad cannot endure right now. But it is important to remember one thing. Per ESPN staff writer Jamison Hensley, the Ravens are unsure if Flowers will be able to suit up versus the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. Flowers suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the Browns game on Saturday and didn’t return.</p><p>“It’s not a season-ending injury,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43310892/zay-flowers-avoids-major-knee-injury-ravens-unsure-wr-status" rel="noopener">said on</a> Monday afternoon. “So it’s just going to be day-to-day, try to do everything he can do to get back as soon as he can, and we’ll see where that takes us.”</p><p>Flowers is WR1 for Baltimore and it would surely be a significant loss if he wasn’t able to suit up for the team against their bitter divisional rival on the opening of playoff weekend. Flowers racked up 1,917 yards and nine touchdowns this season on 74 receptions. He became the first Baltimore Ravens wide receiver to be named to the Pro Bowl.</p><p>But, fellow Ravens wide receiver <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-lamar-jackson-rashod-bateman-40-yard-td">Rashod Bateman has had a great season</a> in his own right, finishing the year with 756 yards and nine touchdowns on 45 receptions. John Harbaugh was asked if he believed in Bateman’s ability to lead the wide receiver core if Flowers were indeed unable to suit up for the Ravens on Saturday evening.</p><p>“Yes, it’s the same as I’ve always felt about it. [Rashod Bateman] has always been high on my list and on my charts. I think he’s a tremendous player, tremendous athlete, tremendous competitor [and] excellent wide receiver,” Harbaugh said. H”e brings a tremendous skillset to it. He’s been playing at a high level all year. He made big plays for us in that game [against Cleveland] this past week. He was a factor in those drives in getting us into scoring position numerous times, so yes, he’s good, but it’s not just Rashod. I</p><p>“don’t think it’s about one guy – it’s everybody. We have a lot of weapons. We can move guys around in different ways, scheme those guys up, and they can all make plays,” he added.</p><p>In Baltimore’s last game against the Steelers on December 21st they relied more on their stout running game with the dynamic QB-RB duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. The team dominated on the ground, racking up 220 rushing yards on 38 carries, with Derrick Henry leading the charge with 24 of those attempts. Meanwhile, Bateman made the most of his lone reception, turning it into a 14-yard touchdown.</p><p>If Flowers is out, Bateman will surely have to be a larger feature of the offense as the Steelers will certainly look to stack the box against Derrick Henry and make Lamar Jackson throw the ball to secure the victory. But injuries for the Ravens may play a role with Rashod Bateman’s questionable status amid an injury-plagued wide receiver room causing concern.</p><p>Two Ravens <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1869851676137660456" rel="noopener">receivers are hurt</a>, according to a post on X by Adam Schefter.</p><p>“Ravens ruled out WR Diontae Johnson and list Rashod Bateman as questionable.”</p><h2><b>Ravens WR Rashod Bateman may be missing</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Baltimore-Ravens-WR-Rashod-Bateman.jpg"></figure><p>Bateman hasn’t caught a ton of passes this season, with 38 receptions for 654 yards. But his yardage total is OK and he has seven receiving touchdowns.</p><p>Bateman is one of several Ravens who are questionable for the key AFC North game against the Steelers. Harbaugh <a href="https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/injury-report-ravens-steelers-rashod-bateman-foot-2024" rel="noopener">remained fairly confident</a>, according to baltimoreravens.com.</p><p>“We’ll be in good shape and be ready to roll on (Saturday),” Harbaugh said.</p><p>Bateman has been an important weapon for the Ravens, leading the NFL in separation percentage (75.1), according to Pro Football Focus via baltimoreravens.com. Also, his 17.2 yards-per-catch average is among the league leaders. Bateman’s four touchdowns on deep targets (20-plus yards) are tied for second most in the NFL.</p><p>A healthy Ravens team is no bargain for the rest of the AFC, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.</p><p>“I think folks are concerned about the Ravens, especially if they win Saturday against the Steelers and can chase them down for the division title,” Graziano wrote. “He might be trailing Josh Allen in the MVP race, but Lamar Jackson is playing the best football of his career this season. And some of the people I talk to think the Baltimore defense has the ability to play better than it has shown. If they’re right — and if Derrick Henry is still fresh and running hard once the postseason begins — I don’t think anyone’s going to want to play Baltimore, even if they don’t look as dominant as they did this time last year.”</p><h2><b>It’s a rivalry and that matters</b></h2><p>The Ravens know the Steelers won’t be one of the teams shying away as this is a tough rivalry. Harbaugh said <a href="https://www.steelers.com/news/ravens-are-talking-about-steelers-d-week-11" rel="noopener">it’s a challenge</a>, according to steelers.com.</p><p>“We’re heading into the challenge this Saturday against Pittsburgh,” said Harbaugh. “A very important game for a lot of reasons, and we’re going to need to be at our very best. They’re an excellent football team. We’re ready for the challenge.”</p><p>The short week plays a role, too, Harbaugh said.</p><p>“It’s a challenge for both teams,” he said. “We’re both playing on the same deal. We both played Sunday, and we’re playing each other on Saturday, so that’s just it. You adjust the schedule. Lamar Jackson and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-justin-tucker-new-nfl-record-vs-eagles">the Ravens offense</a> has struggled against the Eagles, and Justin Tucker’s two missed field goals and missed extra point loom large.</p><p>Bateman has been a useful wide receiver for Jackson, but the Eagles were the biggest test to this point in the season, and the Ravens have struggled to perform as they have in prior games.</p><p>When it comes to receiving yards, Bateman was second on the team coming into Sunday’s game against the Eagles. He <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/stats/_/name/bal/baltimore-ravens" rel="noopener">had 574 yards</a> on 35 receptions with five touchdowns, while Zay Flowers was leading the team with 789 receiving yards on 57 receptions, with four of them being touchdowns, according to ESPN. If Bateman’s knee injury is serious and keeps him out of games moving forward, players like Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely are going to have to step up to fill that void. Of course, Jackson and Derrick Henry’s rushing abilities are what Baltimore’s offense is predominantly built on.</p><h2><b>How can Ravens move forward from loss to Eagles?</b></h2><p>It is unfortunate because the Eagles are a potential Super Bowl Super Bowl opponent, and this was a measuring stick game for the Ravens, but Baltimore still has a chance to secure a playoff spot and be one of the contenders to play in February.</p><p>The Ravens will regroup with a bye, and then they will play four games before the playoffs. The first of four games is on the road against the New York Giants, which should be perceived as the easiest. Then it will be a chance at revenge against the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. The final two games are against the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns. At 8-5 overall, the Ravens could use all four of the remaining games on their schedule ahead of the playoffs.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Those players are: Jim Brown (1957, 58, 65), Johnny Unitas (1959, 64, 67), Brett Favre (1995, 96, 97), Peyton Manning (2003, 04, 08, 09, 13), Tom Brady (2007, 10, 17), and Aaron Rodgers (2011, 14, 20, 21).</p><p>This season, Jackson’s putting up MVP-like numbers, completing 67% of his passes for 2,876 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, and just three interceptions. However, receiver Rashod Bateman got <a href="https://x.com/MrMatthew_CFB/status/1850624714512703684" rel="noopener">roasted for a brutal drop</a> in the Week 8 battle, according to a post on X by Mr. Matthew CFB.</p><p>The day didn’t go well for Bateman along with the drop. He had just one catch for 28 yards. The previous week he went for 71 yards with four catches. So while it looked like his performances trended upward, they crashed against the Browns.</p><p>The Ravens got a big game from Zay Flowers, who caught seven passes for 115 yards despite entering the weekend with an injury designation.</p><p>But the game turned into a struggle for Lamar Jackson as the Browns’ defense played surprisingly well. Jackson threw for 289 yards with a pair of scores but gained only 46 yards on eight rushing attempts. Throughout the game the Browns’ defense harassed Jackson into tough passing situations.</p><p>Batemen came to the Ravens in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Unfortunately he hasn’t been able to live up to the potential of that billing. He had 46 catches for 515 yards as a rookie, but couldn’t top 400 yards in the next two seasons despite 17 overall starts.</p><p>As it seems to be every summer, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talked about <a href="https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/baltimore-ravens/news/ravens-rashod-bateman-john-harbaugh-expectations/a04bfb2e3afde1ca1a1a3a6a#:~:text=Ravens%20head%20coach%20John%20Harbaugh,we're%20planning%20on.%22" rel="noopener">a big year</a> from Bateman, according to sportingnews.com.</p><p>Harbaugh said it was “great” to see Bateman making plays, and that is the expectation.</p><p>“That’s what we expect from Rashod Bateman,” Harbaugh said. “He’s expected to be a top receiver in the league for us. So, Lamar Jackson will be throwing to guys like Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews, and Nelson Agholor for the whole of this season. However, one of these elite wide receivers has not been looking good since the NFL Preseason started. John Harbaugh had to ease the mind of the Ravens faithful when discussing Rashod Bateman’s injury.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-baltimore-locks-up-rashod-bateman-contract-extension-2026-campaign">Rashod Bateman is currently recovering f</a>rom an injury which is preventing him from being fielded in these NFL Preseason games. The Ravens have not disclosed what type of ailment Lamar Jackson’s weapon is currently suffering but it sounds like he won’t be gone for long in the Ravens system. The Ravens’ head honcho outlined that a possible return<a href="https://x.com/jamisonhensley/status/1822750211346764006" rel="noopener"> could be looming</a>, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.</p><p>“We expect ‘Bate back really soon,” John Harbaugh declared.</p><h2><b>Ravens HC extremely confident in Bateman despite injury</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Rashod-Bateman.jpg"><figcaption>© Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>There is no certainty whether he would be played in the NFL Preseason. Another big uncertainty before Week 1 will also be<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ravens-news-rashod-bateman-vote-of-confidence-john-harbaugh"> how the new Ravens schematics stack up</a> to the defenses across the league. But, one thing is for sure. Harbaugh knows that despite Bateman’s injury, he will be able to ball out for them in the coming season</p><p>“Rashod’s been working to make plays. To see him come out and make those catches, those are great catches. Traffic catches, one catch he plucked off the ground there. I was excited, everybody was fired up about it. That’s what we expect from Rashod Bateman. He’s expected to be a top receiver in the league for us. That’s what we’re planning on,” he noted.</p><p>This is not the first time that Harbaugh made a big statement about one of the Ravens. Just a few weeks back, he claimed that Lamar Jackson will be on a path to being the greatest quarterback ever if they win the Super Bowl. But, this goal for Bateman looks to be more attainable than the one for Jackson.</p><p>Bateman has not quite gotten back to his production during his rookie season. But, the Ravens wide receiver has made solid progress in getting back into that form. He notched 367 receiving yards on 32 receptions during the 2023 season. This is an 82-yard improvement compared to his second-year production. If all goes well and Bateman’s injury does not bother him too much, he could be on track for a second 500-yard season in his career. While they have gone out and made some big moves, like <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-derrick-henrys-2-year-16-million-contract-with-ravens">signing</a> running back Derrick Henry, the front office is also looking to keep their own guys in town, as evidenced by their latest move with wide receiver Rashod Bateman.</p><p>Baltimore selected Bateman with the 27th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he largely has not panned out yet, as he’s struggled with injuries and inconsistent production on the field. It seemed like he was set to become the team’s number one wideout, but injuries limited him to just six games in 2022, and then the team went out and drafted Zay Flowers with the 22nd overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, which led to Bateman taking a backseat to him.</p><p>Picking up Bateman’s $14.435 million fifth-year option on his rookie deal was never going to happen, and this extension signals that even Bateman realizes that was the case. While the terms of this deal aren’t known yet, it’s clear it will come in at a far lower price than that, which is great for the Ravens, who get to keep the talented former first-round pick without having to worry about whether or not they made the right decision in regards to his fifth-year option.</p><p>This extension will make that option disappear, and chances are Bateman will have two extra years tacked onto his current deal, which will see him get a base salary of $2.378 million. That number will increase in 2025 and 2026, but assuming Bateman can find his way with the team, that would be a price well worth paying.</p><p>Bateman is a big-play threat who has put together some explosive highlights when he’s been on the field. His numbers in 2023 leave a lot to be desired (32 REC, 367 YDS, 1 TD), but again, his role with the team was murky with the addition of Flowers. With this extension, the Ravens are indicating that they want to give Bateman a fair shot to emerge alongside Flowers in their wide receiver room.</p><p>More will be known about Bateman’s standing with Baltimore once the money involved with this deal comes out, but Jackson needs all the help he can on offense, so keeping a wide receiver he has a good rapport with in town isn’t exactly a bad idea. Now, it will be on Bateman to take some strides forward and begin to realize the potential the Ravens saw when they drafted him, or else his time with the team could come to an end far sooner than initially expected.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Bateman didn’t have the season that he was hoping for this year after spending most of the past two years injured. He was a first round <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/dolphins-news-miami-poaches-ravens-associate-head-coach-new-dc" rel="noopener">pick for the Ravens</a> when he came into the league a few years ago, and he is hoping to have a bigger impact in <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-green-bay-offered-zach-orr-taking-ravens-dc-job" rel="noopener">Baltimore in the future</a>.</p><p>In his first two seasons with the Ravens, Rashod Bateman only played in 19 games. He was able to play in 16 games this past season, and yet his numbers didn’t see a big increase. He racked up 515 yards in his first season, and in four more games this season, he only picked up 367 yards and one touchdown. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh wants him to have a bigger role.</p><p>“I want Bate to flourish and make a bunch of plays, and he’s going to do that, and I think he’ll be a <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/john-harbaugh-expects-rashod-bateman-to-be-a-bigger-part-of-it-next-season" rel="noopener">bigger part of it</a> next year, just by the fact that he was healthy all year this year [and] had a chance to establish himself that way, and he’ll be starting,” John Harbaugh said, according to an article from <i>NBC Sports</i>. “He’ll be playing all those snaps, and he’ll rise to the occasion.”</p><p>After recovering from injuries, it isn’t a big surprise that Bateman didn’t have a big season in 2023. While it was technically his third season in the league, it still feels like Bateman is a rookie because of his lack of play. If he can stay healthy and continue to play each week consistently, he should get more acclimated to life in the NFL, and he should start to have more of an impact. He is clearly a very talented receiver, and his time to shine will come in Baltimore.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
