And the Patriots’ backfield could be at full strength for the Week 12 clash.</p><p>Rhamondre Stevenson has been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-rhamondre-stevenson-misses-patriots-practice-with-toe-injury">sidelined by a toe injury</a> since Week 9. But after missing three games, the veteran running back appears to be <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1992436788103958969" rel="noopener">ready to take the field</a>. New England’s rushing offense ranks 20th in the league, averaging 112.9 yards per game.</p><p>However, not everyone sees the fourth-year RB’s injury return as a positive. Fantasy football managers rostering TreVeyon Henderson were enjoying the rookie rusher’s star turn. In Stevenson’s absence, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-treveyon-henderson-game-not-seen-franchise-history">Henderson broke out</a>.</p><p>The second-round pick out of Ohio State handled lead back duties with Stevenson on the shelf. And after a tepid performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, Henderson went off on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10.</p><p>Henderson racked up 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots’ 28-23 win over Tampa Bay. He then turned in an epic three-touchdown gem in New England’s Thursday night rout of the Jets.</p><p>During Stevenson’s three-game injury absence, Henderson totaled 330 yards and five touchdowns. Stevenson has 448 total yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season as the Patriots starter.</p><p>Henderson has been, by far, the more efficient back, averaging 4.9 yards per carry compared to Stevenson’s 3.4 yards per tote. The veteran rusher has also been criticized by his coach for a premature celebration and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-rhamondre-stevenson-gets-destroyed-fans-brutal-fumble">dealt with ball security issues</a> this season.</p><p>A change to the Patriots’ backfield hierarchy is likely coming. But whoever gets the lion’s share of carries in Week 12 is going to feast. The Bengals have the worst run defense in football, allowing 160.9 yards per game. But when Stevenson does return, he will still have a large role in New England’s running back plans.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-rhamondre-stevenson-austin-hooper-tnf-injury-report-jets">He won’t play in Week 11 however</a>, giving Henderson another opportunity to shine. Still, fantasy football managers should be aware of how the Patriots <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46930109/nfl-week-11-buzz-news-updates-fantasy-intel-questions-predictions" rel="noopener">plan to use</a> Stevenson when he’s healthy enough to play, via Dan Graziano of ESPN.</p><p>“Once Stevenson is back, I do expect him to reclaim his former role as the Patriots’ main between-the-tackles runner, despite the way rookie TreVeyon Henderson has performed in his absence,” Graziano wrote. “The Pats still trust the veteran Stevenson more in certain spots and would like to continue using both of them. Henderson’s explosiveness on outside runs is something that hasn’t surprised the Patriots — they took him in the second round for a reason, after all — and they might look to incorporate more of those even once Stevenson is back.”</p><p>Henderson put on a show against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, rushing for 147 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots aren’t going to stop dialing up explosive players for the rookie.</p><p>But Stevenson is still expected to get a large slice of the offensive pie on re-arrival. Before suffering his injury, he gained 279 yards and three touchdowns on 83 carries. New England still believes in what Stevenson has to offer.</p><p>Still, it’s hard to ignore what Henderson has been able to accomplish. It’ll be a tricky situation for fantasy football managers, as no one runner will get the lion’s share of carries. For the time being, TreVeyon Henderson has taken the load in the backfield for the Patriots, and he’s been doing a good job. Last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Henderson had 14 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns.</p><p>As for Hooper, he suffered a concussion against the Buccaneers, and he’s still going through protocol to return. He didn’t practice this week, which makes sense since they’re playing on Thursday. Hunter Henry will take most of the load for the Patriots at the tight end position with Hooper out, and he’s proven to be reliable in several situations for the team.</p><p>Despite the injuries, the Patriots have been able to continue to win games and are one of the hottest teams in the league. The offense has been clicking, and Drake Maye has come up in clutch moments. The defense has also been good, and it’s no surprise with head coach Mike Vrabel emphasizing that side of the ball.</p><p>As of now, the Patriots are leading the division, and if the Buffalo Bills don’t pick things up, there’s a chance that they could run away as the winner.</p><p>With injuries to Stevenson and Hooper, the Patriots will have the next man up mentality, and they have the players on the team to make up for their absence.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although rookie TreVeyon Henderson is in line to start, the Patriots further <a href="https://x.com/MikeGarafolo/status/1984713009130783120" rel="noopener">insulated their backfield on Saturday.</a> </p><p>The Patriots elevated running back D’Ernest Johnson from the practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. </p><p>Johnson has sketched out a lengthy career for himself, despite being an undrafted free agent signing in 2019. Initially signing with the Cleveland Browns out of the University of South Florida, Johnson played in 16 games as a rookie before becoming an integral piece of Cleveland’s running back rotation in 2021.</p><p>In his only season with 100 attempts, Johnson totaled 534 yards and three touchdowns. After 2022, Johnson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing 31 games in two seasons to minimal success. He then joined the Arizona Cardinals in September, playing just one game before being released. Shortly after, he signed with the Patriots’ practice squad.</p><p>Johnson is not expected to see many snaps, if any at all, this Sunday. He is currently positioned behind Henderson and the recently promoted Terrell Jennings on the depth chart. Depending on Stevenson’s injury, Johnson could be a valuable depth piece to the Patriots’ backfield or a brief placeholder. </p><p>Although he may not see many offensive snaps, Johnson does offer experience as a kick and punt returner. This unfortunate news became the likeliest outcome after the 27-year-old sat out of practice again. The AFC East division leaders will presumably distribute more carries to rookie TreVeyon Henderson, who has flashed explosiveness at different points of the campaign.</p><p>Stevenson has been a consistent presence in the Patriots’ backfield for the last few years, so replacing him may not be as seamless as fans would prefer. Despite his fumbling issues, which he has curtailed over the last month, the 2021 fourth-round draft pick has clearly earned the organization’s trust. He has logged a team-high 83 carries for 279 yards and three touchdowns this season. Though, one has to wonder how long Stevenson will remain the lead back.</p><p>New England invested an early second-round selection on Henderson, and although the offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels may feel more comfortable going with a veteran, the rookie has been the more efficient rusher. The former Ohio State star and national champion is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and broke out for 75 yards against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday (did commit a fumble, though).</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/falcons-patriots-bold-predictions-clash-week-9-2025">A Week 9 clash with the Falcons</a> could present Henderson with an opportunity to seize a bigger role in the offense. However, given how committed the Patriots have been to him, Rhamondre Stevenson will presumably retain meaningful reps for at least this season. It appears the New England Patriots running back was unavailable on Friday as well.</p><p>Stevenson, who is 27 years old, has seemingly missed three practices in a row <a href="https://x.com/MikeReiss/status/1984287960091758811" rel="noopener">due to a toe injury</a>, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. His availability for Sunday’s contest is now up in the air.</p><p>“The Patriots huddle before practice inside Gillette Stadium, and there is no sign of RB Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) for the third straight day.”</p><p>Head coach Mike Vrabel will likely <a href="https://x.com/yaboiTCfresh/status/1984287428203753499" rel="noopener">provide an official update</a> after Friday’s practice, per Tom Carroll of WEEI 93.7FM. That update could reveal Stevenson’s availability for the game against the Falcons. However, the Patriots will still technically have until 90 minutes before kickoff to make a final decision, if the coaching staff chooses to go that route.</p><p>“Rhamondre Stevenson not present for the media portion of today’s practice. He missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday with a toe injury. Mike Vrabel will give us an update on Stevenson’s status for Sunday at the podium after practice.”</p><p>The former fourth-round pick has played in all eight games for the Patriots so far this season. He’s been able to record 279 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. However, the offense could be without its starting running back, Rhamondre Stevenson, based on the team’s latest injury report.</p><p>Stevenson, who is 27 years old, was the only player on the roster who <a href="https://x.com/ByMarkDaniels/status/1983994022491517026" rel="noopener">did not practice on Thursday</a>, according to Mark Daniels of MassLive. The Patriots didn’t have anybody listed as a limited participant, as the entire roster outside of Rhamondre Stevenson was deemed a full participant. However, rumors have circulated that the Patriots could be in search of a running back before the Nov. 4 trade deadline.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-rhamondre-stevenson-misses-patriots-practice-with-toe-injury">Rhamondre Stevenson has been a solid option</a> out of the backfield for the Patriots so far this season. In the eight games he’s played so far, the five-year pro has accumulated 279 rushing yards and three touchdowns off 83 rush attempts.</p><p>The Patriots will likely monitor Stevenson’s injury in the coming days before making a final decision on his status. After <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-chants-take-over-nissan-stadium-titans-demolition">Vrabel led the Patriots to beat the Tennessee Titans</a>, his former team, he would call out running back Rhamondre Stevenson recently while watching film.</p><p>Subsequently, in the third quarter, Stevenson would score a four-yard touchdown that was part of a productive game for the veteran running back, who carried the ball 18 times for 88 yards to go along with the score. However, Vrabel would look at the play again during a YouTube video from the team themselves covering the Tennessee win, and called out Stevenson <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1981824927725740117" rel="noopener">for not having full control of the ball.</a></p><p>“What we can’t do is we can’t do this,” Vrabel said as he pointed to Stevenson in the clip. “Like we can’t sit there and be careless with the football. They improved to 3-2.</p><p>The 27-year-old Stevenson lost the ball early in the first period. Their defense played a high level in the first 30 minutes, holding Buffalo to a field goal as the team leads 6-3.</p><p>Drake Maye had a tough start facing the Bills’ defense but made enough plays to give New England the lead to enter the break. He completed nine passes out of 16 attempts for 89 yards while attempting three rushes for 12 yards.</p><p>Antonio Gibson led the run game with six carries for 21 yards before going down with an injury. As for the receiving game, Stefon Diggs highlights the group with three receptions for 33 yards.</p><p>After this matchup, the Patriots will prepare for their next contest.
