Chicago has big expectations for Johnson’s first season, especially <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-news-insider-most-improved-label-chicago-flurry-additions">after overhauling the roster this offseason</a>. It appears that Johnson is already winning over the locker room.</p><p>Bears receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze spoke with Kay Adams on Wednesday ahead of the 2025 NFL season.</p><p>“Yes it feels different in the building,” Moore said <a href="https://x.com/UpAndAdamsShow/status/1957922381076328775" rel="noopener">about the vibe in Chicago</a> via Up &amp; Adams. “It’s going to trickle out to the fans real soon when we start putting up some wins. Starting with Ben Johnson. I mean, he came in and set the tone for everything.”</p><p>Moore also joked that head coach Ben Johnson can be scary at times.</p><p>“He can be scary at times,” Moore added. “But he’s really a loving, down to earth person that’s going to get us going right.”</p><p>Odunze laughed a little bit about Moore’s answer. But then he explained that he understands what he’s saying.</p><p>“I think it’s funny [Moore] saying that [Johnson] is scary,” Oduzne added. “I would agree though, to a certain extent, he definitely has his intensity. But like DJ was saying he came in here with a mindset and he hasn’t shifted from it since. So we’ve all fed off that and he’s got us going in the right direction.”</p><p>Whatever Johnson is doing in Chicago, it appears to be working.</p><h2><b>DJ Moore, Rome Odunze on Ben Johnson’s reaction to Bears preseason win</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Ben-Johnson-on-August-17-2025.jpg"><figcaption>David Banks-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-news-chicago-ends-31-year-drought-bills-nfl-preseason-drubbing">Bears dominated the Bills on Sunday</a>, crushing them 38-0 in the team’s second preseason game of the year.</p><p>In fact, it was Chicago’s first preseason shutout in 31 years. But from the way DJ Moore tells it, he’s still not sure if his head coach was <a href="https://x.com/UpAndAdamsShow/status/1957929317306155215" rel="noopener">happy enough with the win</a>.</p><p>“Yeah he came in and said the 38 points was good, and the fans booed us,” Moore said when Adams asked about Johnson’s reaction to the big win. “He said ‘duly noted’ so I’m waiting to see what that means.”</p><p>Chicago’s first-string offense only played sparingly in the first half. Therefore, Johnson’s squad dominated with their depth players. That is certainly a good sign ahead of the regular season.</p><p>Moore added that he was glad that Johnson was pleased with the victory. But joked “you never know what [Johnson’s]  thinking… I don’t know if we put up enough points.”</p><p>Next up for the Bears is their preseason finale against the Chiefs on Friday night.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

On a recent episode of <i>Up and Adams</i>, Bears wideouts Rome Odunze and DJ Moore <a href="https://twitter.com/UpAndAdamsShow/status/1958133162216706307" rel="noopener">spoke glowingly</a> about <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-news-chicago-signs-luther-burden-iii-fully-guaranteed-contract">Burden’s early performances</a>. Odunze said <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-news-coaches-rookie-upside-camp">Burden’s natural ability has already stood out</a>.</p><p>“I would say it’s his comfortability out there,” Odunze said about Burder. “In these first two games he’s played, his first two NFL games, he’s just looked natural out there. He’s making moves. He’s making people miss. It’s just like he used to do in college. The second-round pick hauled in three catches for 49 yards in Chicago’s 38-0 win over the Buffalo Bills. Furthermore, he had a 21-yard gain that showcased his ability after the catch. He also delivered two key blocks near the goal line that sprung touchdown runs, underscoring head coach Ben Johnson’s “no block, no rock” philosophy for receivers.</p><p>The rookie has not yet played extended snaps with quarterback Caleb Williams and the first-team offense. Nevertheless, his impact has been hard to miss. After battling a hamstring injury in the spring and facing questions about maturity during the draft process, Burden has responded with consistency and toughness in training camp and preseason play.</p><p>With Moore leading the group and Odunze stepping into a prominent role, the Bears already boast one of the NFL’s most promising receiver units. However, if Burden continues on this trajectory, Chicago could soon have one of the deepest receiving corps in football. Ben Johnson is now the head of the snake, and it seems like everybody is ready to buy into his system. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/commanders-news-jayden-daniels-caleb-williams-diss-seth-rollins">Caleb Williams should have a great second year</a> under Johnson, and so should Rome Odunze, who was also one of the Bears’ first-round picks last season.</p><p>Odunze had a solid season for the Bears, but this season he’s looking to accomplish way more. In an interview with the media, the wide receiver was honest about <a href="https://x.com/CHGO_Bears/status/1930707490507038924" rel="noopener">the hardest part</a> of his first year in the NFL.</p><p>“Losing. I don’t like losing,” Odunze said.</p><p>The Bears finished last season with a 5-12 record and were in last place in their division. It was obvious some changes needed to be made at the end of the season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. They went out and hired Johnson, as he showed the past few years how much of a mastermind he could be with the Detroit Lions.</p><p>The Bears should win more than five games this season, and with the additions they’ve made in the offseason, the present and future look bright for them.</p><h2>Bears’<b> offense primed to have big year</b></h2><p>After a disappointing season last year, the Bears are looking to get their team on track and make some noise with the new coaching staff in place. Johnson may have been one of the best coaching hires during the offseason, and he has a young, explosive team that will be able to run the style of offense he likes. Williams showed flashes in his rookie season, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/bears-news-fans-loving-ben-johnsons-constructive-caleb-williams-criticism">Johnson should be able to unlock his game</a> and make him one of the bright young quarterbacks in the league.</p><p>As far as skill positions, Odunze should have a big second year as well, and DJ Moore will continue to dominate as the top receiver for the Bears. At the running back position, Johnson showed with the Lions that he knows how to get the best out of his players, and D’Andre Swift is the type of back that could thrive in the system.</p><p>In a competitive division, the Bears will have to go out and play their best football every week, but they have the potential to do something special this season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Wide receiver Rome Odunze has unsurprisingly emerged as one of Caleb Williams’ favorite targets during both of their rookie campaigns, ranking second on the team in receptions (39), yards (518), and targets (70).</p><p>Both Williams (the No. 1 overall pick in the draft) and Odunze (the No. 9 overall pick in the draft) face a lot of attention and scrutiny as the Bears’ <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bears-2024-nfl-draft-grades-for-every-pick">top picks of the 2024 NFL Draft</a>. However, they’ve handled the pressure well with both players ranking among the very best at their position when it comes to first-year players.</p><p>“He’s awesome,” says Rome Odunze in a one-on-one interview of his relationship with Williams on behalf of his partnership with Sharpie. “He’s a great dude, always laughing and chopping it up about different things and talking ball and just relaxing. We’ve gone to some movies, done some parts of different things with people on the team, always a great time.”</p><p>The 22-year-old receiver mentions how he’s further bonded with the 23-year-old quarterback over the new Call of Duty game. Although he wouldn’t say it bluntly, he did admit that he’s better than Williams at Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6.</p><p>“We’ve been playing a little bit of Call of Duty with the new one coming out, so that’s been a lot of fun too. He’s a good dude. I’m not going to put him on blast right here, right now, but everybody knows I’m like that on there, I’m like that,” Rome Odunze responds when asked who is better at the game.</p><p>The Bears have had the definition of an up-and-down season this year, with a pair of recent down-to-the-wire losses to the divisional opponents in the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. After missing a last-second field goal attempt with a chance to win the game against the Packers in Week 11, the Bears came up short in an overtime loss to the Vikings after overcoming an 11-point deficit with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.</p><p>While being 4-7 isn’t fun, <a href="https://www.sportscasting.com/news/rome-odunze-i-must-score-more-touchdowns-to-help-bears-offense/" rel="noopener">the continued growth of Williams continues to be a bright spot</a> in the team’s 2024 season. The Bears’ rookie quarterback had one of his best performances of the season, throwing for 340 passing yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers against the 9-2 Vikings.</p><p>Williams probably won’t be winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, but his steady and calming performance at quarterback has kept the Bears in most games this season.</p><p>“He’s just very dialed in each and every week,” says Rome Odunze of Caleb Williams. “The things that you learn and the defensive recognition as a quarterback, I think has continued to grow. His recognition of reads and all those different things, I think he’s continued to grow on during the season. With those real live reps, that’s crucial to everybody’s development, especially at the hardest position on the field. He takes those things very seriously and he’s always in his film and watching the different things that he can improve to help his team win.”</p><p>The Bears will look to get their first win since October when they pay a visit to face the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

As Chicago looks to turn things around in Week 4, the Bears are hopeful both Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze will be on the field.</p><p>Allen and Odunze were both full practice participants on Friday. Odunze (hip) is <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1839731097111789692" rel="noopener">fully ready to go</a> on Sunday while Allen (heel) is listed as questionable, via Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.</p><p>Allen was able to get in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday before returning to full action on Friday. While he is listed as questionable, the veteran receiver is <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1839732202294083922" rel="noopener">trending towards playing</a> against the Los Angeles Rams, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.</p><p>The Bears haven’t seen Allen on the field since Week 1. In their lone win against the Tennessee Titans, Allen grabbed just four passes for 29 yards. However, he was targeted 11 times, showing Caleb Williams’ immediate trust with the veteran receiver. Allen may not be up to his usual standard after two weeks off, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/keenan-allen-trade-grade-for-bears-chargers-deal">Bears acquired him in a trade</a> with the Los Angeles Chargers for a reason.</p><p>In Allen’s absence, Odunze has gotten more of an opportunity to prove what he can do. Against the Colts, Odunze had his coming out party, catching six passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. His targets have gone up each week, resulting in 11 in Week 3. His connection with Williams has been evident as the pair maneuver the NFL together.</p><p>As Williams shakes the rookie jitters off, Chicago has been one of the worst passing teams in the NFL. Through the first three weeks the Bears rank 25th in the league, averaging 176.7 yards per game.</p><p>Coming off of back-to-back losses, the Bears are looking for a spark.
