Few, though, were as candid as Taysom Hill. After a costly offensive meltdown near the goal line, Hill called one critical sequence “disappointing.” He also admitted he wishes he had secured a snap that helped derail one of the Saints’ best scoring opportunities of the afternoon.</p><p>That disastrous moment came midway through the second quarter. The Saints operated from shotgun near the 1-yard line. A high snap sailed over Hill’s head, forcing him to scramble backward to recover the ball. In the chaos, he committed an intentional grounding penalty. That wiped out the promising drive and pushed New Orleans into an eventual field goal. Failing to convert on that near-touchdown opportunity proved enormously costly.</p><p>Hill didn’t hide from the mistake afterward. He called it <a href="https://x.com/JohnJHendrix/status/1992759228730347856" rel="noopener">part of a broader “disappointing game”</a> in which the offense repeatedly failed to capitalize. This wasn’t the Saints’ only red-zone failure. Earlier, they reached the 1-yard line on another drive. However, they stalled and settled for a field goal. The loss of Alvin Kamara to a knee injury early in the game magnified the pressure on Hill and Devin Neal to carry the rushing attack. The results were uneven at best.</p><p>The Saints’ offensive inconsistency has now become a season-long pattern. Despite a disappointing 2-9 record, though, New Orleans remains mathematically alive in the NFC South. They no longer have any margin for error, though.</p><p>Hill’s season has mirrored the team’s overall struggles. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/saints-news-new-orleans-makes-taysom-hill-injury-move-0-4-start">Returning from an ACL injury</a>, he has been used sparingly behind Tyler Shough. Hill has produced mixed results in limited snaps. Week 12 saw him log a season-high 10 rushing attempts but only 17 yards. Hill’s accountability is admirable. Despite New Orleans’ loss, the game can still be remembered for a long time by quarterback Tyler Shough, as it was his first career home start in the NFL — and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/saints-news-tyler-shough-franchise-first-1981">third overall</a>.</p><p>Shough was outplayed by Cousins, who threw two touchdowns and got picked off once in Atlanta’s 24-10 win. The rookie signal-caller went 30-of-43 for 243 passing yards with zero touchdowns and an interception, while getting sacked five times for a loss of 29 yards. He also lost a fumble for a two-turnover outing.</p><p>While it was an overall rough start for the former Louisville Cardinals quarterback, Shough still got <a href="https://www.neworleanssaints.com/news/2025-nfl-week-12-atlanta-falcons-vs-new-orleans-saints-postgame-quotes" rel="noopener">praised after the game</a> by fellow QB and veteran Taysom Hill.</p><p>“I think Tyler has done a really nice job,” Hill said of Shough during a postgame press conference, per the Saints’ official website. “You feel his presence. You feel confident with him in the huddle. He knows what’s going on. He has put the time and energy into learning the system and understands the intricacies of what’s going on. He has a really positive, great presence in the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. As a fan base, if you watch a play, then you can feel that. As a teammate and in the locker room, you feel that as well.”</p><p>Hill, who rushed 10 times for 17 yards against the Falcons, then continued to highlight the positives he’s seen from Shough.</p><p>“He has made some nice plays over the course of the three games that he has been playing. We have had conversations, and the nature of that position is challenging. As you look at an NFL game, so often the game boils down to a few plays and I feel that Tyler has done a nice job of making these 50-50 plays. He previously covered hockey for various outlets, including the Associated Press, The Hockey News and The Palm Beach Post.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">New Orleans Saints</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The New Orleans Saints shared an injury update on <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/saints-news-new-orleans-sign-possible-taysom-hill-replacement">do-it-all offensive weapon Taysom Hill</a> after their Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills.</p><p>New Orleans announced that it has <a href="https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1972735465976631379" rel="noopener">activated the veteran tight end</a> from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Monday. The veteran multi-purpose player has a five-week window to begin practice and will have three weeks to get activated to the main 53-man roster before his season is considered over.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/saints-news-taysom-hill-confirmed-out-for-season-knee-injury">Hill has been out of the Saints’ lineup</a> since he suffered a knee injury in Week 12 of 2024 against the Los Angeles Rams. The 35-year-old had 278 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with 187 receiving yards on 31 targets, before his season ended with the knee injury.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/saints-news-taysom-hill-pulls-off-versatile-feat-not-accomplished-since-1971">Saints have utilized Hill at quarterback, running back, and tight end</a> throughout his eight-year tenure with the team. He played quarterback during his collegiate tenure at BYU and showcased a versatile set of skills that has allowed him to survive in the NFL despite not securing a starting quarterback job.</p><p>Hill has 2,437 career rushing yards and 33 career rushing touchdowns on 437 career rushing attempts. He also has 943 career receiving yards and 11 career receiving touchdowns on 99 receptions and 131 targets.</p><p>The former BYU gunslinger has a 7-2 record as a starting quarterback and has thrown for 2,369 career passing yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions on a 63.9 percent completion percentage.</p><p>He went 4-1 in his last year of starting games in 2021, throwing for 978 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions on a 58.2 completion percentage.</p><p>The Saints offense will need all the help it can get as it sits at 0-4 through the first four weeks of the season. The Saints will return to the field for Week 5 against the New York Giants on Sunday, October 5, at 1 p.m. EST at home. Hill’s likeliest return date would be in the Saints’ Week 8 clash on Sunday, October 26, at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He flashed major potential in his NFL debut with the Indianapolis Colts, showing promise that his talents will translate at the professional level. Leading up to the Week 2 contest against the Denver Broncos, the opposing defensive coordinator shared which player Warren reminds him of.</p><p>Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph reportedly informed head coach Sean Payton that Warren <a href="https://x.com/ZacStevensDNVR/status/1966241497608761721" rel="noopener">reminds him of</a> New Orleans Saints’ utility man Tayson Hill, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. Denver is seemingly taking note of what type of versatility Warren brings to the table for the Colts.</p><p>“Vance Joseph told Sean Payton that Tyler Warren has some Taysom Hill to him.”</p><p>Interestingly enough, Sean Payton coached Taysom Hill during his time as the Saints’ head coach. Hill, who is 35 years old, has played as a tight end, quarterback, running back, and wide receiver for the franchise. Hill is currently out after sustaining an ACL tear in December, and his return date is unclear. In college, Warren lined up at tight end and wide receiver. He even played a snap or two as a center on some trick plays for the Nittany Lions.</p><p>Tyler Warren played everywhere at Penn State, as he lined up in multiple positions for the Nittany Lions during his five years with the program. We saw <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/reasons-why-daniel-jones-week-1-explosion-wasnt-fluke">some of that versatility in the Colts’ 33-8 Week 1 win</a> over the Miami Dolphins after the 23-year-old rookie finished with seven receptions for 76 yards off nine targets.</p><p>If the Broncos view Warren as a Taysom Hill-type player, then the defense likely isn’t taking him lightly. Especially considering he was one of the more involved players in the passing game for the Colts in the season opener. Make sure to tune into the Broncos-Colts game on Sunday, September 14.
