On one hand, the former Green Bay Packers star had a modest stat line on paper: four catches for 51 yards isn’t a bad showing by any means. That being said, Adams never found the end zone, and he had eight targets, meaning he only caught 50% of the passes thrown his way.</p><p>Fantasy football owners were a bit disappointed with his stat line: Adams went for just 9.1 fantasy points, lower than most predictions for the Rams star. Despite that, Adams said that <a href="https://www.therams.com/news/feature-davante-adams-encouraged-by-rams-debut-week-1-texans" rel="noopener">he doesn’t really care about his fantasy performance</a> and that the win and the game film are much more important to him.</p><p>“I think you look at the tape, there was a lot of good stuff there,” Adams said, per Stu Jackson. “We obviously didn’t get to light up the stat sheet how we can. ‘We’ meaning myself and my own contribution. It’s hard to talk about ‘I’ and use that, but you’ll have games where Puka goes out there and has 130 (yards) and misses however much time throughout the game and still can go out there and light it up like that. I’m just concerned about winning at the end of the day. I know my fantasy owners are not too excited about it when it happens like that, but unfortunately that’s not in the forefront of my mind. I know they think it is. I’m just out here trying to win games and contribute and make plays when I can.”</p><p>It was Puka Nacua who made the most noise during the Rams’ 14-9 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1. Nacua caught 10 passes (on 11 targets) for 130 yards, though the wide receiver didn’t find the end zone as well. Instead, it was running back Kyren Williams who got a touchdown for the Rams.</p><p>Adams signed with the Rams in the offseason after spending the previous season with the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets. The Broncos sacked Cam Ward six times, and it does not look like it will get much better this week against the Rams due to injury.</p><p>ESPN Tennessee Titans reporter Turron Davenport reported that the Titans <a href="https://x.com/TDavenport_NFL/status/1966554205797187759" rel="noopener">will be without two massive keys on both the offensive and defensive lines</a>. On the offensive line, JC Latham is out due to a hip injury, and T’Vondre Sweat is out with an ankle injury on the defensive line.</p><p>Davenport posted to X: “#Titans practice update for Friday ahead of Sunday vs the Rams. -No sign of JC Latham(hip), Quandre Diggs (hand), T’Vondre Sweat (ankle) during the open portion. -Kalel Mullings (ankle) returned.”</p><p>Latham injured his hip during training camp and has been managing it ever since. He re-aggravated the injury in the season-opener against the Denver Broncos, and it is severe enough that he will miss this week’s game against the Rams.</p><p>“Thought I was ready to go for the game. I felt amazing,” said Latham after Thursday’s practice, per video from A to Z Sports’ Buck Reising. “Then a couple plays in, things just started to happen, so it’s pretty frustrating.”</p><p>Sweat hasn’t practiced all week due to his ankle injury. The Week 2 game against the Rams will mark the first game Sweat has missed in his two-year career.</p><p>With both out, there must be room for others to step up. At right tackle, Oli Udoh will step up. When Latham left the game in Denver, Udoh stepped in and is in for a massive role against the Rams. Shy Tuttle will also be the leading player who steps in for Sweat after he joined the Titans before the season.</p><p>Tuttle joins Jeffery Simmons, Sebastian Joseph-Day, C.J. Ravenell, and James Lynch up front. This is a massive rebuilding year for the Titans. They need to keep their <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/tennessee-titans/titans-news-tennessee-cam-ward-no-1-overall-pick-2025-nfl-draft" rel="noopener">rookie and top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Cam Ward</a> upright, but with the injuries to JC Latham and T’Vondre Sweat on defense, it will be much harder to offer him support against a team as good as the Rams.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

There were a few <a href="https://x.com/NateAtkins_/status/1966564838127149326" rel="noopener">injuries that were suffered</a> in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, and it’s looking like they still need time to recover, according to Nate Atkins of The Athletic.</p><p>“Rams OG Steve Avila and TE Colby Parkinson will be doubtful for Sunday against the Titans. OG Kevin Dotson will be good to go,” Atkins wrote on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>Avila is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered against the Texans. He was able to return to the game, but it looks like it’s still bothering him. If Avila doesn’t play, Beaux Limmer will most likely step in at left guard. He played well in Week 1, as he earned the best run-block win rate of any guard in Week 1, according to PFF.</p><p>As for Parkinson, he hurt his shoulder in the same game, and it looks more likely that he will be out in Week 1.</p><p>Dotson left Week 1 with an ankle injury, but he will be ready to go. This is big for Matthew Stafford, as he’ll have one of his key linemen in the lineup, as they did a good job of protecting.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/los-angeles-rams/rams-news-matthew-stafford-sets-nfl-record-week-1-win-vs-texans">Rams had to get a gritty win</a> against the Texans in Week 1, but they were able to make enough plays on both sides of the ball to get the job done. They’ll be going up against a young Titans team this week, and they’ll be looking to improve their record to 2-0.</p><p>The hope is that Avila and Parkinson can return to the field sooner rather than later, as they will be key parts of the Rams’ offense this season as they try to win the division for the second straight season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The wideout picked up right where he left off in 2024. He caught 10 of 11 targets for 130 yards despite briefly leaving the game after a forehead laceration. His chemistry with Stafford is undeniable. With defenses now forced to account for Davante Adams lining up opposite him, Nacua is set to thrive against single coverage.</p><p>Tennessee’s secondary will have its hands full trying to contain both Rams stars. With Stafford showing he’s healthy and capable of spreading the field, Nacua should once again command double-digit targets. We should see another dominant performance from Nacua, who should cross the 100-yard mark for the second straight game. That would solidify his standing as one of the league’s most productive receivers.</p><h2><b>Stafford goes for 250-plus yards and two touchdowns</b></h2><p>Stafford didn’t show any rust in Week 1 despite missing the preseason with a back issue. His 21-for-29, 245-yard outing against Houston was vintage Stafford. He was accurate, composed, and turnover-free. Yes, the Texans’ defense limited explosive plays. That said, Stafford methodically worked the ball to his playmakers, finishing with a passer rating over 100.</p><p>Facing the Titans, Stafford should have opportunities to stretch the field. With Adams and Nacua both drawing coverage attention, tight ends and secondary receivers could also chip in. A 40-point outing isn’t off the table if they seize momentum early and never look back. For Tennessee, it may be another week of growing pains before better days arrive.</p><h2><b>Final thoughts</b></h2><p>The Rams enter Week 2 in a position of strength. They are armed with an elite quarterback, a reliable receiving duo, and a defense that thrives in chaos. The Titans, meanwhile, are still searching for their offensive footing. It has prevented him from being fully healthy, needing day-to-day treatment to persevere through the nagging pain.</p><p>Luckily for him, he found a way to have a solid display for the Rams against a stout Texans defense. He completed 21 passes out of 29 attempts for 245 yards and a touchdown, making the movements when necessary to not put too much weight on his back.</p><p>Stafford pulled this off by being quick with his passes, not taking long to make decisions before opposing defenses can reach him. He <a href="https://x.com/NateAtkins_/status/1966239289022492745" rel="noopener">averaged the league’s third-lowest time to throw</a> in Week 1 at 2.33 seconds, per reporter Nate Atkins.</p><p>“Matthew Stafford averaged the NFL’s third-lowest time to throw in Week 1 at 2.33 seconds with a league-low 3 attempts at 3+ seconds, per @TruMediaSports. Self-preservation with a back issue and vs. the Texans front. And it worked for 72% completions and 8.4 yards per attempt,” Atkins said.</p><p>“By contrast, Matthew Stafford averaged 2.63 seconds last season, good for 15th among starting QBs. He’s averaged 2.59 seconds in his Rams career — 10th best in that time. The Texans just gifted the Rams extra chances and sabotaging their own progress. Until Houston cleans up its execution, even games they should win will remain out of reach.</p><h2><b>Accountability is urgent</b></h2><p>The Texans’ Week 1 loss wasn’t about being overmatched. It was about failing to execute in critical areas. The offensive line’s collapses, costly turnovers, lack of receiver production, secondary breakdowns, and penalty problems combined to waste what could have been a statement win to start the year. He did check back into yesterday’s game,” Atkins said on X.</p><p>Avila is also a swing lineman who’s started at center before. He then bled out of his forehead and got emergency stitches to control the bleeding.</p><p>Yet the star wideout stayed in the game. Even taking a shoulder hit on his 19-yard connection to get the Rams inside the Texans 10-yard line. The All-Pro grabbed 10 catches for 130 yards and received a game ball from Sean McVay.
