However, Higbee left the game early with an apparent injury to his left arm.</p><p>After sitting on the bench with some degree of pain, <a href="https://twitter.com/hutchdiesel/status/1586821143935168512" rel="noopener">Higbee left the field</a> and went into the Rams locker room. He was able to return later in the first half.</p><p>Higbee has been a serviceable target for Stafford this season, catching 34 passes for 297 yards. He caught 10 passes for 73 yards in the Rams’ 24-9 loss to the Niners in early October. Higbee has been targeted 9 or more times in three of his last five games.</p><p>The Rams have struggled on offense in the first half of the year, and a victory over the 49ers is needed to get over the .500 mark. Stafford has thrown for <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rams-news-matthew-staffords-brutally-honest-take-on-la-offense-heading-into-week-6/" rel="noopener">1,576 yards</a> going into Week 8 with a 71.1 completion percentage, but his 6-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio has been a huge factor in the team’s struggles this season.</p><p>Cooper Kupp remains Stafford’s most valuable weapon because of his outstanding hands and ability to get open, but the other Los Angeles receivers must provide more production. Tyler Higbee is the team’s second-most productive receiver, and he should play a key role for the Rams throughout the rest of the regular season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

McVay held Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee out of practice on Wednesday purely for precautionary reasons, <a href="https://twitter.com/sarahbarshop/status/1580292955289440256" rel="noopener">per Sarah Barshop</a>.</p><p>LA Times reporter <a href="https://twitter.com/LATimesklein/status/1580293533075853312" rel="noopener">Gary Klein added</a> that McVay said the Rams would “be smart” this week in practice with their star players.</p><p>The defending champs are just 2-3 on the season. The Rams have yet to hit their stride during the 2022 campaign. Nevertheless, McVay and the team are not panicking. The last thing they need is a long-term injury for one of their superstar players. So holding players out of practice may prove to be necessary when considering the entire season.</p><p>Los Angeles’ <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rams-news-offensive-line-holds-player-only-meeting-after-failing-to-protect-matthew-stafford/" rel="noopener">offense</a> has been their downfall over the course of their past two games. The Rams were defeated 24-9 in San Francisco two weeks ago before losing to the Dallas Cowboys at home by a final score of 22-10 this past weekend. However, Cooper Kupp is not to blame for their offensive shortcomings.</p><p>The elite Rams’ wide receiver already has tallied 49 receptions for 527 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He is Matthew Stafford’s favorite target and is arguably the best receiver in the game right now.</p><p>Tyler Higbee has also impressed from the tight end position. He’s reeled in 33 receptions for 290 yards.</p><p>This Rams offense has the potential to heat up sooner rather than later. But they need to get things going quickly as the season rolls on. Instead, they held a walk through. But Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay, while speaking to the media, acknowledged that if they had held a practice, Higbee would not have participated.</p><p>Higbee had a solid season for the Rams and became an important part of the red zone offense. Higbee caught 61 passes for 560 yards and five touchdowns this season.</p><p>After Higbee went down versus the 49ers, backup tight end Kendall Blanton filled in admirably. He caught all five of his targets for 57 yards.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Bengals have also been dealing with a tight end to their starting tight end. C.J. Uzomah also suffered a knee injury during the AFC Championship versus the Kansas City Chiefs. If he's not writing or watching sports, he's likely scouring online for his next NBA card purchase.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NFL</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Los Angeles Rams could be without a key starter when they face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56 on Sunday, with Sean McVay dropping some concerning update on Tyler Higbee’s knee injury.</p><p>Higbee sustained a sprained MCL during their NFC title showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, and he has missed the team’s practices ever since. In fact in its Friday injury report, the team said Higbee would have been doubtful to play had the Super Bowl been scheduled February 6, Sunday.</p><p>Despite having some more time to recover, however, the outlook is not good for the Rams’ starting tight end. According to McVay, he is doubtful the 29-year-old will be able to practice with the team this week.</p><blockquote>“I don’t think so. We’ll see,” McVay said when asked about the possibility of Higbee joining the team’s practices heading to the Super Bowl, per <a href="https://twitter.com/BradyHenderson/status/1490829752747233281" rel="noopener">Brady Henderson of ESPN</a>.</blockquote><p>That is certainly not good news for Sean McVay and the Rams, who are already dealing with a plethora of other injuries to their star players.</p><p>For one, Jalen Ramsey popped up on the injury report last week due to a shoulder injury. While expectations are he’ll be able to suit up for the team come Super Bowl weekend, it’s hard not to be concerned because the team listed him as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rams-news-jalen-ramsey-surprisingly-pops-up-on-injury-report-ahead-of-super-bowl-56/" rel="noopener">questionable</a>.</p><p>Los Angeles’ battle with injuries is certainly a story worth keeping an eye on in the next few days in the lead-up to the big game.
