While the 36-year-old is widely expected to begin the season as the starter, his job is not guaranteed, especially with Winston’s leadership and Dart’s potential waiting in the wings.</p><p>Wilson is the favorite to start, but Tracy notes leadership runs deeper than just him in the Giants’ locker room.</p><p>“I wouldn’t say leader of the pack because Jameis and Russ, they both have a really good dynamic to where they both respect each other,” Tracy said. “They both allow each other to lead in their own way, whatever it may be. If Jameis wants to say something, Russ is not gonna come and say this is how it is. He’ll let Jameis talk and lead his own way.</p><p>“I think that’s really good because you need more than one leader. You need more than one person speaking up. It can’t just be Russ or Jameis. It has to be a running back, a linebacker, a D-end, you know what I’m saying? It has to be multiple people on the team leading so that everyone knows, the young guys know this is the way we’re going.”</p><p>Tracy Jr. himself is set for a major breakout. After taking over as RB1 from Week 5 onward in 2024, he rushed for 839 yards and five touchdowns, adding 284 receiving yards and another score. In total, he accumulated 1,123 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns. One holdover from 2024 who could make a big impact this upcoming season, though, is <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/giants-news-malik-nabers-making-history-tyrone-tracy-jr">second year running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.</a></p><p>A fifth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, Tracy ended up becoming New York’s starting running back from Week 5 on. Both Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. have been dealing with injuries throughout the week but received positive updates on Friday.</p><p>Tracy was cleared of his injuries and <a href="https://x.com/JordanRaanan/status/1872722775284302142" rel="noopener">will play</a> against the Indianapolis Colts while Nabers is listed as questionable, per Jordan Raanan. Tracy was dealing with a minor ankle issue while Nabers’ toe continued to give him problems.</p><p>Nabers and Tracy have been two of the only bright spots of the Giants’ offense in 2024. Both lead the team in receiving yards and rushing yards, respectively. Entering Week 17, Nabers has 969 receiving yards through v13 games while Tracy has 721 rushing yards across 15 games.</p><p>Had Nabers’ production been more meaningful throughout the year, he would likely be the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year. The LSU product has led the team in 11 of his 13 games played throughout the year. He topped Odell Beckham Jr.’s record for the most receptions as a rookie in Week 16.</p><p>Tracy, a converted receiver, was responsible for the team’s only touchdown in its Week 16 34-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. His score was an impressive toe-tap grab from Drew Lock in the back of the end zone to give the team a 7-0 lead. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/colts-news-indianapolis-benching-anthony-richardson-joe-flacco">Colts puzzlingly benched Anthony Richardson</a> ahead of Week 9, only to re-name him as the starter two games later.
