Or will they be aggressive <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/nfl-rumors-insider-projects-bills-trades-patriots-giants-mock-draft">and make a trade</a>? Regardless, here are three players the Patriots must avoid in the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>The Patriots hold a key card with the No. 4 overall pick. If things go according to the expected path, the Titans will take Cam Ward, followed by the Browns getting Adbul Carter. That would give Travis Hunter to the New York Giants.</p><p>Of course, the Patriots might prefer to have Carter or Hunter fall to them. But that doesn’t seem like the most probable course of action.</p><h2><b>Patriots must turn away from OT Will Campbell</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/LSU-OT-Will-Campbell.jpg"><figcaption>Maria Lysaker-Imagn Images.</figcaption></figure><p>Yes, some mock drafts have the Patriots making this very pick. And on the surface it might seem like the right way to go.</p><p>However, the LSU product is a risky pick. And the Patriots can do better. Check out the first description by Lance Zierlein of nfl.com.</p><p>“Athletic left tackle prospect who’s durable and battle-tested but has elements of high risk, high reward in his game,” Zierlein wrote.</p><p>Is that what the Patriots want from their No. 4 pick? High risk? Shouldn’t all of the higher first-round picks come with more reward than gamble as opposed to equal parts of each?</p><p>“Campbell is a thumping run blocker who can clear out B-gaps with forceful down blocks and displace base blocks with his “strike and run” technique,” Zierlein wrote. “(However,) he struggles to win laterally. He will lunge and miss against stunts and movement.”</p><p>Whoa. More problems. This can’t be the right choice, can it?</p><p>“Campbell operates with good athleticism and agility in pass protection but is way too leaky against inside moves. He has a jarring, heavy punch and can latch in to control the rep,” Zierlein wrote. “However, he has short arms and when he’s beaten to first action, the footwork and technique go out the window, forcing him to scramble and survive to save the pocket.”</p><p>What about NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah? What <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-2025-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-4-0" rel="noopener">does he think</a> of Campbell?</p><p>“Campbell has ideal height, bulk and athleticism for his position,” Jeremiah wrote. “In pass pro, he stays square, bends well, and keeps his hands in tight. He will expose his chest at times (due to his lack of ideal length) but he’s able to recover after giving up some initial ground. There’s been a lot of talk about Campbell’s arm length during the evaluation process.”</p><p>There are a lot of question marks. The Patriots should check out Armand Membou, or trade down.</p><h2><b>RB Ashton Jeanty is another no-go</b></h2><p>If the Patriots are looking for a skilled player, a receiver like Tetairoa McMillan makes far more sense than Jeanty.</p><p>There’s a reason the Boise State product isn’t mentioned in the generational talent conversation with Carter and Hunter. He does get good reviews from Jeremiah.</p><p>“(Jeanty) is a short, compact runner with incredible strength, balance, and burst,” Jeremiah wrote. “He displays outstanding vision, tempo, and feel. On inside runs, the Boise State product has a unique ability to absorb and bounce off tacklers. He has quick feet and never stops driving on contact, leading to some miraculous escapes and home runs.”</p><p>That sounds nice, but the Patriots need help at wide receiver and the offensive line before they consider a running back. The 2025 draft is full of good running backs. They can get one in the second or third round. Jeanty is simply too expensive.</p><p>Besides, Jeanty may not hang around long in the NFL if he doesn’t solve a big problem.</p><p>“He needs to improve his ball security, having fumbled nine times over the past two seasons,” Jeremiah wrote.</p><p>Also, he’s not the biggest hammer in the toolbox.</p><p>“Overall, Jeanty might lack ideal size, but he’s a mixture of Dalvin Cook and J.K. Dobbins as a runner,” Jeremiah wrote.</p><h2><b>TE Tyler Warren should be off the radar</b></h2><p>It’s unlikely the Patriots would spend the No. 4 pick on Warren, who could be available into the double-digit portion of the first round.</p><p>However, if the Patriots trade down, they <a href="https://nesn.com/2025/04/patriots-should-avoid-nfl-draft-prospect-tyler-warren-temptation/" rel="noopener">still need to avoid</a> Warren. And someone should tell Mike Vrable, who likes Warren, according to nesn.com.</p><p>“You certainly watch Tyler (Warren) and his playstyle and his demeanor, and having met with him at the combine, I think he’s a wonderful prospect,” Vrabel said.</p><p>Jeremiah likes Warren in terms of size and versatility.</p><p>“Warren is a massive tight end who carried the Penn State offense this past season,” Jeremiah wrote. “He lined up in-line, in the slot, and as a Wildcat quarterback. His production is the result of his size, catch radius, and tenacity.”</p><p>But Warren can’t do one thing that makes NFL pass catchers stand out.</p><p>“He doesn’t generate a lot of separation as a route runner,” Jeremiah wrote. “But he walls off defenders when on the move. Vrabel also brought back a familiar face, reuniting with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.</p><p>During an interview with reporters on Thursday, McDaniels expressed excitement<a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/josh-mcdaniels-new-offense-will-be-an-adjustment-for-drake-maye-but-not-a-big-deal" rel="noopener"> to build the offense around</a> quarterback Drake Maye, who will have to adjust to a new system.</p><p>Via Pro Football Talk:</p><p>“It’ll be different,” McDaniels said, via a transcript from the team. “I think that sometimes it can get overblown because one word is apple, another word is tomato, and one system it means one thing and another system it means something else. The guys, just like ‘Men in Black,’ you take the thing and just wipe the memory clean from some of the things, but a lot of it is what you call this, now we call this, and it takes them a little bit of time to acclimate to that.</p><p>The Patriots staff, we’ve done the same thing, and we’ve – honestly, we’ve changed some things, and I’m in the process of doing the same thing, too. So, what we used to call something, now we call something else because we’ve agreed that it’s the best thing to do for the team. So, we’re all going to be in that same boat. I’m sure we’ll come up with a friendly, fine system when we use terms that don’t mean anything to us now that used to. But no, I don’t expect there to be – there will be a period of adjustment, but I don’t think that will be a big deal.”</p><p>Maye showed promise for the Patriots in 2024 despite their disappointing 4-13 season. In 13 games, the UNC product completed 66% of his passes for 2,276 yards and 15 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Maye will also have a new No. 1 target out wide after New England <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-new-england-stefon-diggs-69-million-contract-agreement">signed Stefon Diggs in free agency</a>. While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-rumors-why-patriots-made-cowboys-trade-better-offer">Cowboys were able to land Milton</a>, they weren’t the only team in the running for his services, as the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants were all interested in him as well.</p><p>A sixth-round pick in the 2024 sixth-round pick, Milton shined in his only NFL action as a rookie, which came against the Buffalo Bills backups in Week 18. Milton threw for 241 yards, ran for another 16, and picked up a pair of touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) to lead New England to victory, although it resulted in them missing out on the No. 1 overall pick ironically enough. Now, Milton will head to the Cowboys despite a <a href="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1907809290015973677" rel="noopener">slew of interest</a> across the league.</p><p>“My understanding is since Joe Milton became available at the start of the offseason, teams that showed interest included the Raiders, Eagles, Giants, Steelers and the Cowboys. The Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect for him, per source,” Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported.</p><h2><b>Eagles, Steelers, Raiders come up short in quest to add Joe Milton III from Patriots</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Joe-Milton-with-NE-Patriots.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Brian Fluharty-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>For some of these teams, it’s not hard to see why they were interested in Milton. The Steelers, Giants, and Raiders don’t have long-term answers at quarterback, which could conceivably have led to them giving Milton a shot under center. The Eagles and Cowboys, meanwhile, were looking for someone they could develop behind the scenes in the event they have a crisis at the position.</p><p>In the end, it was Dallas who ended up winning, even though they reportedly did not have the best offer on the table for Milton. The second-year passer made it clear, though, that he has quite a few Cowboys fans in his family, which could have influenced the Patriots when pulling off this trade. According to a recent report, the Patriots actually had a better offer on the table for Milton, but they opted to send him to the Cowboys for one big reason.</p><p>After getting selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft, Milton flashed his potential in Week 18 against the Buffalo Bills backups, throwing for 241 yards and a touchdown, while picking up 16 yards and another score on the ground. There are still several holes that need to be filled, though, which means that the team’s attention will be shifting to the 2025 NFL draft.</p><p>The Patriots are <a href="https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/2025-nfl-mock-draft-seven-rounds-tyler-warren/699569/" rel="noopener">armed with nine draft picks</a> heading into the draft, highlighted by the No. 4 overall selection. With their second rounder and a pair of third round picks following behind, New England has the flexibility to move up and down the board as they please. That could come in handy right off the bat, as the Pats could potentially trade down from the No. 4 pick, or combine some of their Day 2 picks to move back into the first round.</p><p>There are several potential avenues for the Patriots to take when the first round of the draft gets underway, but which is the best of the best? That’s what we will set out to explore here, so let’s take a closer dive into New England’s draft day preparation and figure out what the team should do once they are on the clock with the No. 4 pick.</p><h2><b>Patriots ideal first round scenario for 2025 NFL draft</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Colorado-football-wide-receiver-cornerback-Travis-Hunter.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-rumors-what-new-england-rooting-2025-nfl-draft">New England is in an interesting spot with the No. 4 pick</a>, and much of what they do will depend on how the first three picks of the draft play out. The overarching assumption right now seems to be that Cam Ward will go to the Tennessee Titans, Abdul Carter will get scooped by the Cleveland Browns, and Shedeur Sanders will land with the New York Giants.</p><p>But anything could happen, and none of these picks seems truly set in stone. The Titans have left the door open for a potential trade involving the No. 1 overall pick, the Browns could ultimately decide they need a quarterback too and take Sanders, and the Giants are rumored to be interested in Colorado football’s two-way superstar Travis Hunter.</p><p>There’s a myriad of different things the Patriots could do as a result of what happens in front of them. If either Carter or Hunter fall to them, the assumption is they would select them. If both are off the board, they could look to fill their biggest need at left tackle, where Will Campbell and Armand Membou loom as the top options available. Or, they could trade and look to accrue some more draft capital.</p><p>Let’s assume that Ward, Carter, and Sanders come off the board ahead of New England. That means Hunter falls to them, at No. 4, and they would be wise to select him if this were to happen. Hunter starred as both a wide receiver in 2024 with Colorado (96 receptions, 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns) and as a cornerback (46 tackles, four interceptions, 11 pass breakups), giving the Patriots coaching staff several options when it comes to deploying him.</p><p>Should the Pats address left tackle at No. 4? If either Carter or Hunter are available, the answer is no, but even if they aren’t it feels like a reach to select either Campbell or Membou at this spot. If Carter and Hunter have been picked, trading back feels like the smart decision, as they could conceivably swing a deal with a quarterback-needy team (since Sanders would still be on the board in this scenario) like the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, or New Orleans Saints, add another pick to their collection, and still land one of Campbell or Membou.</p><p>In the ideal scenario, though, the Patriots get Hunter and utilize him as a full-time receiver on offense and a part-time cornerback on defense. Pairing Hunter with Stefon Diggs would immediately give quarterback Drake Maye two standout targets in the air that he did not have in 2024 as a rookie. On defense, the Pats have their cornerback duo of Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis set, but using Hunter in obvious passing situations when an extra defensive back is needed could make their secondary even more airtight.</p><p>Of course, selecting Hunter means that left tackle is still left unaddressed. New England could simply wait until the second round to address this need, but there are a couple more guys who could get selected behind Campbell and Membou in the first round that the Patriots should target. Josh Simmons and Kelvin Banks Jr. seem likely to get selected in the 15-25 pick range, while Josh Conerly Jr. is a late first/early second pick.</p><p>If New England stays put, they’d likely be hoping Conerly would fall to them at the No. 38 pick, but that’s a risk that probably would not work out for them. Offensive tackles are incredibly valuable, especially when you can play left tackle and protect the quarterback’s blind side. Conerly may fall to the second round, but chances are he won’t make it to pick No. 38.</p><p>Trading up makes the most sense in this scenario, with either Simmons or Banks being the target. Both guys have their different question marks, as Simmons is working his way back from shoulder surgery, while Banks has a ton of upside, but he is still a bit raw for the time being. There’s risk associated with making either of them a starter from the get-go in 2025, but New England doesn’t have a ton of options.</p><p>Using their second-round pick and one of their thirds should be enough for the Patriots to trade back into the first round somewhere in the No. 20-pick range to get their left tackle of the future. In a truly ideal world, one of Campbell or Membou slides this far, but that’d be wishful thinking. Simmons is probably the safer option, but Banks could end up being the best left tackle in this draft class. Considering who the Pats had at left tackle in 2024, either one of these guys will do, but Simmons seems like the better bet to be ready to go for Week 1, which is what the team needs.</p><p>If all goes according to plan, New England manages to add another top target for Maye in the passing game, while also filling their biggest need at left tackle. One of the teams ahead of them could throw a wrench in their plans and select Hunter, but it seems more and more likely that he will end up falling to the Patriots at No. 4. For that to play out, the Patriots need two quarterbacks, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, to go in the top three.</p><p>“The Patriots are likely rooting for two quarterbacks to go ahead of their pick,” Field Yates said. “That would mean either Carter or Hunter would be available to them at No. 4, and either player could be a building block for New England. Hunter would change the dimensions of this offense if slotted alongside newly acquired Stefon Diggs. He is a natural playmaker with elite ball skills, catching 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 scores last season. Interestingly enough, he has the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/how-bills-can-beat-chiefs-hallmark-movie">Buffalo Bills</a> swinging a pair of deals with the New England Patriots and New York Giants.</p><p>The Bills have been busy this offseason, with their primary objective being to sign their key players to long-term contract extensions. While they have several needs they could address with the No. 30 overall pick in the first round, they could benefit from adding some more draft capital.</p><p>That is precisely what Yates has them doing, as he believes the Patriots will <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/insider/story/_/id/44447028/2025-nfl-mock-draft-field-yates-two-rounds-64-picks-predictions" rel="noopener">trade back into the first round</a> and select Oregon football offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. with this pick.</p><p>“The Patriots went with the best player available at No. 4, but that meant bypassing arguably their biggest roster hole. They can rectify that by getting back into the first round for another Day 1 pick.</p><p>“Meanwhile, Bills general manager Brandon Beane can slide down to acquire extra draft capital, similar to what he did in 2024. After this deal, he has the Bills trading back up the board, acquiring the No. 34 overall pick from the Giants that they would then use to select Michigan football defensive tackle Kenneth Grant.</p><p>“We just had the Bills slide down from No. 30 to No. 38, but they might be watching the board early on Day 2 and opt to hop back up a few picks to No. 34. To do so, I have them trading the No. 38 selection they just acquired in the trade with the Patriots and a fourth-rounder (No. 132) to the Giants, who would happily take an extra midround pick,” Yates said.</p><p>After moving back and adding another pick, the Giants would select Alabama football guard Tyler Booker to shore up their offensive line. While his bitter divorce from Robert Kraft and the franchise undoubtedly led to the delay, the two sides set their differences aside to give the legendary coach the recognition he deserves.</p><p>The team announced the Hall of Fame induction on social media, which Kraft <a href="https://x.com/BenVolin/status/1907053928660824073" rel="noopener">confirmed to reporters</a> at the NFL owners meeting on Friday morning. Kraft said he called the retired coach with the offer a week before the announcement, which Parcells accepted.</p><p>“In the early 1900s, the Patriots were in disarray, but the hiring of Bill Parcells in 1993, a two-time Super Bowl champion, brought instant credibility to the franchise,” Kraft said in the team’s announcement. “As a five-time finalist for our Hall of Fame, I am sure he would have been voted in eventually, but I wanted to expedite the process so he can enjoy the ceremony. The well-traveled coach is already a member of the New York Giants’ Ring of Honor, a recognition he received in 2010. Parcells coached the Giants to two Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990, guiding the simultaneous rise of both himself and the franchise.</p><p>Although Parcells’ four-year run ended in turmoil, it allowed the Patriots to get back on the right track. Parcells would be succeeded by Pete Carroll, who only lasted three seasons before getting the axe. However, the team’s subsequent hire of Bill Belichick resulted in the best move in franchise history.</p><p>Dealing with the leftover residue of Carroll’s unsuccessful stint, Belichick went just 5-11 in his first season. Yet, the following season resulted in the storied rise of Tom Brady, who led the team back to its first Super Bowl since Parcells’ 1996 season. Kraft says that the last two seasons have been <a href="https://x.com/AlbertBreer/status/1907051044787429675" rel="noopener">a deep struggle</a> for his team.</p><p>“The last two years have been really difficult, the worst two years of our ownership. … I hope that we’re never drafting fourth again, but today it’s a good opportunity,” Kraft said, per the MMQB.</p><p>The Patriots are now on their third coach in as many seasons. Bill Belichick left after the 2023 campaign, and Jerod Mayo only lasted one season. Mike Vrabel is now head coach for the Boston team.</p><p>New England is expected to <a href="https://x.com/AlbertBreer/status/1907052346430873895" rel="noopener">spend some money</a> in order to get the train back on track.</p><p>“Let me correct something, there’s never been a case in 31 years when people have come to us wanting to spend and we said no. Not once,” Kraft added.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-teases-what-he-would-do-travis-hunter">The Patriots are selected to pick fourth</a> in this year’s NFL Draft. New England finished the 2024 season with a 4-13 record.</p><h2><b>The Patriots have big expectations for Mike Vrabel</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Mike-Vrabel-1-1.jpg"><figcaption>Eric Canha-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Vrabel played for the Patriots and won Super Bowls under Coach Belichick. He must now restore the franchise to its former glory. Once Tom Brady left the New England franchise, things just haven’t been the same.</p><p>Vrabel previously coached for the Tennessee Titans, where he did pretty well at the start. He made the AFC Championship game in 2019. He also led the Titans to a few other playoff appearances.</p><p>Things didn’t end well in Tennessee. Vrabel finished the 2022 and 2023 seasons with a losing record. Despite that development, Vrabel has remained a hot commodity among NFL teams looking for coaches. The Jets reportedly were interested in hiring the coach before he reached a deal with New England.</p><p>There’s pressure on Vrabel, but also on Robert Kraft. He was leading the most successful franchise in the NFL until the departure of Tom Brady. The Patriots have not made a playoff appearance since 2021. That’s just unacceptable to fans.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-drake-maye-revelation-taking-job">Patriots have something to build off of with young quarterback Drake Maye</a>. Maye finished his 2024 rookie season with 2,276 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. Maye was working with one of the weakest offensive lines in the NFL, so that unit is one area where the Patriots need help in the draft.</p><p>Some other areas where the Patriots <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/2025-nfl-draft-order-for-round-1-top-five-needs-for-all-32-teams-following-free-agency-frenzy" rel="noopener">need help</a> are wide receiver, running back, defensive line and tight end, per NFL Network insiders.</p><p>The NFL Draft is the first chance for Vrabel to add to the team roster. He studied journalism and communication at UConn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">New England Patriots</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The ideal scenario for many New England Patriots fans in the 2025 NFL Draft is Travis Hunter falling to the No. 4 pick, but the question remains regarding what side of the ball they would <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-teases-what-he-would-do-travis-hunter">have Hunter play</a>, and vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf was <a href="https://youtu.be/I8Q8YprRu5s?t=199" rel="noopener">asked about that dilemma</a> in a recent interview.</p><p>“If he’s available, which is a huge question mark, that will be up to the coaching staff to determine where he’s going to fit in and also if we’d even pick him,” Eliot Wolf said on Up &amp; Adams.</p><p>That is a fair point by Wolf. It seems like as things currently stand, the Tennessee Titans are likely to go with Cam Ward at No. 1, while the Cleveland Browns are leaning towards Abdul Carter at No. 1. It might come down to what the New York Giants do at No. 3, as they could go with quarterback Shedeur Sanders, but that is up in the air as well. If the Giants do not like Sanders, they could opt to go with Hunter, leaving the Patriots in a bit of a tough spot.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-calls-out-comical-media-idea-winning-free-agency">New Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel</a> said that he <a href="https://www.patriots.com/video/head-coach-mike-vrabel-on-cb-wr-prospect-travis-hunter" rel="noopener">would not put a limit</a> on what Hunter could do when he was asked about the two-way star.</p><p>“There are some things that he can do by concentrating on one position, but never going to put any restrictions on Travis or any player,” Mike Vrabel said, via Patriots.com. “We try to, as much as they can handle, we’re going to put more on their plate. If he were on our football team and he showed a great skill in one position and he was starting to really do well and his conditioning didn’t fall off and didn’t drop, we would be open to playing everybody we had more than one position.”</p><p>After mostly adding to the defensive side of the ball outside of Stefon Diggs this offseason, it would make sense if the Patriots had Hunter predominantly play on offense to help out former No. 3 pick Drake Maye. Pairing Hunter with Diggs would significantly upgrade the weapons in 2025. Wolf spoke on the Diggs acquisition in the interview.</p><p>“One of the things we like about Stefon, and even in Josh McDaniels’ offense, is his versatility,” Wolf said. “He can play inside, he can play outside, he can move around, he’s smart, he’s competitive, he can beat press coverage, he can beat off coverage, he’s good against zone. If that were the case, head coach Mike Vrabel would absolutely love it.</p><p>After the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-news-how-new-england-clinch-no-1-pick-2025-nfl-draft">Patriots landed the No. 1 pick</a>, they squandered the opportunity late in the season. However, with the fourth overall pick, it could be possible that Hunter lands in New England.</p><p>He elaborated more on how <a href="https://x.com/ezlazar/status/1906675585956339783" rel="noopener">he could utilize</a> Hunter if the team acquires him.</p><p>“I don’t know how anybody could say how hard it would be [to play both sides of the ball],” Vrabel said via Evan Lazar of Patriots.com. “We’ve never seen a player necessarily do it…Never going to put any restrictions on Travis or any player.”</p><p>Hunter has been adamant about playing two sides of the ball. He showed that he is an elite defensive back and wide receiver. He ended up leading the Big 12 in receptions and receiving touchdowns.</p><p>To cap off his historic season, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/ncaa-football/colorado-football-news-travis-hunter-named-heisman-winner-over-ashton-jeanty">Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy over Ashton Jeanty</a>. He became the first defensive back to do so since Charles Woodson in 1997.</p><h2><b>Patriots’ Mike Vrabel wouldn’t limit Travis Hunter</b></h2><p>Although skeptics remain committed to having Hunter play one side of the ball, Vrabel doesn’t see that happening. Hunter is a unique player, who is dominant on both sides. Limiting that could be a disservice to his play.</p><p>If he were to play both sides, Vrabel <a href="https://x.com/_AndrewCallahan/status/1906674957418958998" rel="noopener">explained more</a> via Andrew Callahan of The Boston Globe on X (formerly Twitter).</p><p>“I think to improve, there has to be a primary focus,” Vrabel said. “Just to be able to get some of the details that are required in this league.”</p><p>The top-rated defensive back has the seal of approval from his former head coach, Deion Sanders. The latter, which is a Hall of Famer, raved about Hunter for years before he committed to a university.</p><p>The work ethic, and most importantly, his character, were on full display. Fast forward to the NFL Combine, and more of the same has been said.</p><p>Either way, he could fall right into the Patriots lap at No. 4. Still, they might be white-knuckled with who could select him in the draft.</p><p>Judging from Vrabel’s comments, if there’s a chance to land Hunter, they will take every opportunity to do so. Pairing him with Drake Maye could be huge for the offense.</p><p>In addition, a backfield of Christian Gonzalez and Hunter could devastate opposing receiving corps. That could also include trading one of their quarterbacks, as there have been rumors flying around about Joe Milton III and what the Patriots could do with him. Apparently, head coach Mike Vrabel has heard the chatter, and he <a href="https://x.com/mikekadlick/status/1906681942990315739" rel="noopener">spoke about the trade rumors</a> surrounding Milton.</p><p>“I think Joe did everything they asked him to do last year … he worked extremely hard. And that’s tough when you’re a quarterback. Everybody wants to play … He was ready for his opportunity there late in the season which I commend him on,” Vrabel said via Mike Kadlick of CLNS Media.</p><p>Milton came in at the end of last season and had a nice performance against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17, and it seems like that was the game that could have sparked interest in him across the league. Unfortunately for Milton, he <a href="https://x.com/ByMarkDaniels/status/1906680496966283734" rel="noopener">won’t get much playing time</a> because Drake Maye is the QB1.</p><p>“Everybody wants to play. Everybody wants to be the starter… Where that leads to, we’ll see as the draft approaches. Where Joe is on April 7 is our offseason workout program,” Vrabel said via Mark Daniels of MassLive.</p><h2><b>Will the Patriots trade Joe Milton III?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Joe-Milton-III.jpg"><figcaption>David Butler II-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Earlier in the month, rumors emerged suggesting that the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/patriots-rumors-joe-milton-iii-trade-block-veteran-qb-signing">Patriots were looking to trade Milton</a>, but it has to be the right situation for him, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.</p><p>“Sources: The Patriots have had discussions on trading QB Joe Milton III and would like to trade him to the right situation to continue his development in the NFL — should a deal get done,” Schultz wrote. “New England loves Milton, but Drake Maye is their franchise, and they just signed Josh Dobbs to a 2-year, $8M contract to be the backup.”</p><p>It’s uncertain where Milton could go right now and start, but there’s a good chance that he could go somewhere and continue to develop. It’s obvious that he has the skill set to be a solid player, but he has to keep working in order to a starting opportunity to come his way.</p><p>The Patriots had a big free agency after signing Milton Williams, Carlton Davis, Morgan Moses, Harold Landry, and Garrett Bradbury. While the glory days of the Patriots are not quite ancient history, the team has been moving in the wrong direction since Brady left for Tampa Bay at the conclusion of the 2019 season.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-drake-maye-revelation-taking-job">Patriots went 4-13</a> last season and Mike Vrabel was hired to become the team’s new head coach. The Patriots have been extremely active in free agency in an effort to give their new head coach a real opportunity to put a winning team on the field.</p><p>Eliot Wolf, who has the title of Director of Scouting and also serves as the team’s general manager, has added talent in a number of areas.</p><p>The most notable move was the signing of big-play wideout Stefon Diggs, a receiver who had tormented the Patriots for years when he was with the Buffalo Bills.</p><p>Diggs, 31, has been one of the most productive wideouts in the NFL as he combines his brilliant route running with his athletic ability. He had six straight regular seasons with 1,000 receiving yards or more from 2018 through 2023.</p><p>The wide receiver played a big role in helping quarterback Josh Allen become one of the top quarterbacks in the league. He had four straight seasons with the Bills in which he had 100 receptions or more.</p><h2><b>Landry has the ability to provide Patriots with consistency on D</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Harold-Landry-has-some-star-qualities-that-could-pay-dividends-for-the-Patriots.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Robert Hanashiro-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Some of the other big-name free agents signed by the Patriots include former Philadelphia Eagle defensive tackle Milton Williams, ex-Detroit Lion cornerback Carlton Davis, former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane, former New York Jets offensive tackle Morgan Moses, ex-Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga and former Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury.</p><p>However, the Patriots sneakiest signing could be the addition of linebacker Harold Landry.</p><p>Vrabel was able to get his former pass rushing star to join him in New England when he agreed to a 3-year, <a href="https://www.patspulpit.com/2025/3/9/24381754/patriots-reportedly-agree-deal-free-agent-harold-landry">$43.5 million</a> contract. Wolf wanted to make his new head coach happy by bringing him his former player with the Titans.</p><p>In addition to being very familiar for Vrabel, playing for the Patriots represents something of a homecoming for Landry because he played his college football at Boston College.</p><p>The Edge rusher is coming off a solid season with the Titans in which he recorded 71 tackles, 9.0 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hits. He was also quite productive in the 2023 season when he had 70 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 21 quarterback hits.</p><p>Landry didn’t know how he would perform that year because he was coming back from a torn ACL that didn’t allow him to play at all in 2022. However, he put in the work that was required to come back in impressive fashion from that injury.</p><p>Landry had his best year in 2021 when he had 75 tackles and 12.0 sacks while making the Pro Bowl for the only time in his career. The former second-round draft choice in 2018 also had 14 tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hits.</p><p>In addition to being a productive pass rusher from the edge, Landry is very solid against the run. His ability to keep the ground game in check means he can be an every-down player for Vrabel once again.</p><h2><b>Landry is an extremely hard worker</b></h2><p>Landry came back from his ACL injury at nearly the same level he was at before his injury. That was testimony to the effort that he conducted his rehab with and speaks well to his preparation. The Patriots are likely to see that on an every-game basis.</p><p>A player like Williams is going to command most of the attention by opposing offenses and so is Davis in the secondary. Landry will be content to do his job on an every-game basis and help the Patriots get back to respectability. He is one of those dependable players that will live up to the old Belichick philosophy of “doing your job.”</p><p>That will help the Patriots put a respectable and perhaps winning team on the field in 2025.</p><p> </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

And while there are some concerns about Diggs, whether it be his return from a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/houston-texans/texans-news-stefon-diggs-strong-message-suffering-brutal-injury">torn ACL</a> last season, or questions about his attitude off the field, his arrival could help the Patriots out in a big way.</p><p>New England didn’t get much production from their wide receivers in 2024, which impacted rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s production under center. But with Diggs on board now, the Patriots have a proven chain-mover leading their pass-catching corps, and assuming they <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44431441/how-stefon-diggs-transform-patriots-offense" rel="noopener">continue to utilize him in the slot</a> like the Houston Texans did last season, he could immediately return to his form prior to his ACL injury.</p><p>“In 2024, Diggs lined up in the slot 43% of the time, which was a notable increase compared to 27% during his time with the Bills … Meanwhile, the slot in New England — which was a staple over the years with Troy Brown and Wes Welker, among others — could use a rebirth. It was expected that Douglas would be the top option in 2025, but Diggs’ arrival could alter plans at times depending on the other receivers on the field (e.g. Mack Hollins outside). The Patriots across the past three seasons are 29th in slot receiving yards per game (62.6), 28th in completion percentage when targeting the slot (64.7%) and 30th in expected points added to offense when targeting slot receivers (32.68),” Mike Reiss of ESPN recently noted.</p><h2><b>Stefon Diggs’ arrival could take Patriots offense to another level</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Patriots-wide-receiver-Stefon-Diggs.jpg"><figcaption>Mandatory Credit: Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>In four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Diggs established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, racking up at least 100 receptions, 1,150 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns every season. Even last year with the Texans, Diggs was off to a hot start in his eight games played, catching 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns before he suffered his aforementioned season-ending injury.</p><p>While there are questions about how Diggs moving into the slot would impact Demario Douglas, who was New England’s top wide receiver option last year, those are questions that the team hasn’t had to worry about in recent seasons, simply because they didn’t have the necessary talent at their disposal. Now that they do, they could unleash a new offensive attack on the NFL, but it is worth noting they still have several areas, namely the left tackle position, that need to be addressed before the 2025 campaign gets underway.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

With a rebuilding roster and a first-year head coach, general manager Eliot Wolf has a lot of options to consider to please his restless and spoiled fan base.</p><p>After picking third in 2024, the Patriots will have the No. 4 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Overall, Wolf will begin the draft process with nine picks to use in Green Bay, barring any potential trades. On the heels of a defense-heavy free agency period, many expect New England to have an offensive focus in the draft as it looks to build around Drake Maye.</p><p>Of their offense, the Patriots have the biggest need to target offensive line and wide receiver in the draft. New England allowed the sixth-most sacks in 2024 as its pass-catching corps averaged the fewest receiving yards per game. Neither is a recipe for success when building around a promising young quarterback.</p><p>While the team’s relatively modest free agency suggests an active draft night, nothing can be guaranteed. The Patriots spent seven of their eight picks in 2024 on offensive players, but new head coach Mike Vrabel is a notoriously defensive-minded leader. Still, Wolf desperately needs to give Maye weapons to work with, even after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-new-england-stefon-diggs-69-million-contract-agreement">signing Stefon Diggs</a> in late March.</p><p>As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Patriots continue to have one of the clearest directions of all teams involved. While the past half-decade has not been kind to the organization, Wolf has a chance to turn his team back into playoff contenders sooner than some might have anticipated with a strong draft class.</p><h2><b>OT Will Campbell, LSU</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Will-Campbell_3a8417.jpg"><figcaption>Maria Lysaker-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>If the Patriots are going to build around Maye the right way, they need to improve their offensive line. Adding Garrett Bradbury in free agency was a solid start, but it did not address the team’s dire needs at tackle. Drafting Campbell, a two-time first-team All-SEC tackle at LSU, would do just that. As a three-year starter who never missed a game in college, his durability would also be valuable among a positional group that is seemingly always dealing with absences.</p><p>Throughout the pre-draft process, the biggest knock on Campbell is his short arm length, which has sparked heated debates among fans. While many feel the unconventional statistic does not do him justice, Campbell is prone to getting beat on the outside and forced to chase quicker pass rushers.</p><p>To make up for his lack of arm length, Campbell already has elite athleticism to rival any tackle in the league. Of the drills he participated in at the NFL Combine, the former Tiger recorded the <a href="https://www.nfl.com/combine/tracker/live-results/40-yard-dash/ol/all-colleges/" rel="noopener">fifth-fastest</a> 40-yard dash and second-longest broad jump among all tackles. There is risk to drafting Campbell, but his ceiling is well worth the small gamble.</p><p>While Campbell is a stout pass protector, he truly makes his money in run-blocking sets. His burst off the line and aggressiveness downfield is second to none. Coming off a year in which the Patriots’ backfield barely averaged 4.0 yards per carry, they desperately need a player with Campbell’s skill set to bolster their dead run game.</p><h2><b>WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Travis-Hunter-3.jpg"><figcaption>Troy Taormina-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Travis Hunter might be the most controversial player of the 2025 NFL Draft, but he is also the one who can most change the entire complexity of any game. Still without a definitive position, Hunter could be the biggest wild card of the draft. Yet, he seems to be trending more toward receiver than cornerback, which is how the Patriots should see him if they decide to make him the No. 4 pick.</p><p>If Hunter is still available at No. 4, he would have the highest potential of any available player. New England cannot let Maye go another year without a true playmaking threat at his disposal, and Hunter has the tools to be that guy on day one.</p><p>Even with Diggs on the roster, the Patriots are still without a bonafide top wideout. Diggs has the name value but is coming off an injury-plagued, eight-game season in 2024 that saw him put up just 496 receiving yards. At 31, his best days are firmly behind him, and he figures to be more of a high-level complementary piece than a top offensive threat at this point in his career.</p><p>Beyond Diggs, the team’s receiver options are painfully thin. Tight end Hunter Henry led the group with just 671 receiving yards in 2024. The Patriots took Ja’Lynn Polk in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, hoping he would be Maye’s long-term running mate, but that plan seems to already be six feet under. Wolf has to go back to the well in 2025 and hope for better results.</p><p>If given the opportunity, Hunter can be the missing piece of the Patriots’ offense. With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/patriots-news-mike-vrabel-next-step-josh-mcdaniels-oc-job">Josh McDaniels back as offensive coordinator</a>, the range of options he can use Hunter in is nearly endless. He might not be an elite receiver out of the gates, but he could be an ideal wideout to pair with Maye for the foreseeable future.</p><h2><b>RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Ashton-Jeanty.jpg"><figcaption>Joe Rondone/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It might not be at No. 4, but the Patriots need to end the 2025 NFL Draft with a running back. Teams nowadays appear to be scared to address the position early in the process, but if there is one player who can break that mold, it is Ashton Jeanty. Potentially the best prospect of the position since Saquon Barkley, Jeanty is the type of player who can change an entire offense right away.</p><p>Coming off one of the greatest running back careers in college football history, nothing more needs to be said about Jeanty as a prospect. The question would be his fit in the offense and whether or not taking him at No. 4 would be worth the investment. After all, if New England takes Jeanty in the first round and not an offensive lineman, the team’s blocking unit is still questionable at best.</p><p>However, if there is a player who can overcome shoddy run blocking, it would be Jeanty. In his final two years at Boise State, Jeanty racked up an absurd 2,951 rushing yards after contact, which would be fifth in Division I during that frame. The physicality, strength and acceleration are all already there.</p><p>Adding Jeanty would also be ideal for Maye, who struggled at times without a competent backfield to work with. The Patriots’ middling duo of Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson combined for just 1,339 rushing yards on 4.1 yards per attempt in 2024, giving Maye almost nothing to work with. A Maye-Jeanty combo in New England for at least the next four seasons would be a nightmare for every fan who dreaded the team’s dominant two-decade-long dynasty.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The former New England Patriots head coach’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, began trolling the Atlanta Falcons on Friday (March 28).</p><p>The 24-year-old posted on her Instagram Story, “Happy 3-28 to those who celebrate,” with a photo of she and Belichick.</p><p>Every March 28, the Patriots celebrate their victory over the Falcons since during halftime at the 2017 Super Bowl they were down 3-28. However, in the second half, their momentum kicked up and they beat the Falcons 34-28. Hudson is currently 24 and Belichick is 72.</p><p>While Belichick and Hudson were enjoying date night last month, a user named Abby Riley commented on Hudson’s Instagram Story “But you do realize your <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/03/15/sports/jordon-hudson-claps-back-at-critic-of-her-relationship-with-bill-belichick/" rel="noopener">relationship is insane right</a>” in a reply.</p><p>Hudson responded, “But you do realize direct messaging a stranger on Instagram with the intent of harassing them regarding their own personal relationship is insane, right?”</p><p>The former cheerleader even took it a step further and created a poll on the post.</p><p>“Which is poorer?” Hudson asked her followers to vote on the options “Abby’s Manners” and “Abby’s Punctuation Skills.”</p><p>It’s not only fans that are mocking the age gap between Belichick and Hudson. During the NFL Honors ceremony last month, Hudson’s age was a punchline in Snoop Dogg’s monologue.</p><p>“I’ve been a football fan for a long, long time. I mean, I remember back when the [Dallas] Cowboys was good.
